So let me get this straight Seth. I make the Transformers Trailer and submit it to you a full 3 days before the other one is made, and you still take the trailer that was made later, and put it ahead of mine when there's supposedly a "Queue."
I thought it was weird, too. I actually tried to get them both posted -- I mentioned them both in the e-mail, suggested a face-off of some sort.
I guess it just got lost. I remember my Legend of the Wonderbolts didn't get posted for three days, and other videos made after mine were getting posted. I caught him on chat, and he told me to send another e-mail.
It's at least just as good as far as I'm concerned. It's by no means a poorly put together trailer.

I've made quite a few parody trailers and I don't have a problem with a trailer getting up on the site if it's been done by me before (It happened when they showed a Back to the Future trailer yesterday), but when I've been told that something I've made is going to be on the site, and then for them to turn around and then they go against that, you'd take issue with it too if you were in my position.
Well... and this is ment to be constructive so no flaming, but the one posted is actually better than yours.
The big mistake you have is that you often used very dramatic shots in places that lacked appropriate sound. This is perhaps because shots like those existed in the original trailer. Yet, when re-editing you need to play to the strength of the new material, not worry about being true to the original.
The shots of the roaring Ursa Minor and the roaring Lion/dragon creature (forget the name), are good examples of this. The transformation sound doesn't match well with their movements, especially the stomp from the Usra Minor.
Another example of concept versus execution; in concept Spike screaming is a good choice for when Le-buff (don't care how his name is spelled), screams "Optimus". Yet, in the end it doesn't work because his lips don't move, they stay open; which is odd for a word that has both a P and a T noise in it.
Twilight instead of Celestia is an interesting approach, but you probably could of used a few more close ups, or have all the shots look from a distance. in most cases you used half body shots, which implies a certain normalcy for a character, like they'd be the central character.
By contrast all the Celestia-version Optimus shots are from far away, and even her half body shot is done from a low angle to imply authority.
Don't get me wrong, the other trailer isn't without error either, especially when it uses the Usra Minor battle Twilight for when Le-buff says "where is she?!" It's kind of odd. Yet the other trailer gets a bunch of thematic basics down, that make it seem more, well, trailer like.
I'll cop to that comment. I could think of a few Twilight-yelling scenes, but none that weren't too comedic for my tastes (when Twilight at Spike and makes him fall over) or didn't really fit (when she yells in the air when Pinkie's party-slaves are tossing her up in Ticket Master). The one at the end of Feeling Pinkie Keen (where the background goes red) MIGHT have worked, and I probably should have at least tried it. I just decided to pick something dramatic to flow with the montage-of-dramatic (and it sort of fits the 'Lebeouf wielding weapon' shot from the actual trailer) and hope the vague amount her lips move make it look like it fits.
...But that's besides the point. The reason JHaller2's hasn't gone up isn't a quality thing, it's just gotten lost. All four of my videos have gone up within hours of receiving confirmation from Seth. He doesn't have a days-long queue; there's been days where he says "I have lot of PMVs to get through today!" so that wouldn't make sense. It just slipped through the cracks among the hundreds of e-mails he gets. It happened to my 'Legend of the Wonderbolts', and a second e-mail cleared it up and got it on the site within hours as per usual.
Apparently, from the email Seth just sent back to me, my submission never made it to the PMV queue, which is strange since I got an email from him when I submitted it saying it was. But I guess it will be posted in another update. I wish I could say I was completely satisfied considering that I don't think people are going to care now that one trailer's already been shown, but that's what it is.
Thanks everybody for the positive comments on the Clue remix trailer. It was my first attempt at a vid and hopefully I should have at least one more coming out in the near future.

I loved the first one.
ReplyDeleteWin.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't the first one to do the Transformares trailer, as I found out earlier today, but, oh well! Fun times!
ReplyDeleteWho is number pony?
ReplyDeleteI am not a number, I AM A FREE PONY!
ReplyDelete@The Lord of Ábrocen Landmearca
ReplyDeleteSorry, but your number came up.
The Prisoner one is just brilliant. If you need a comparison, check this link:

It is scary how well pony goes with everything.
ReplyDeleteThe Clue one is extremely appropriate for the casting
And having TS as The Prisoner matches the original motif quite well.
#3 was so ridiculously well done.
ReplyDelete#s 1 and 2 were great too.
Prisoner!
ReplyDeleteSorry I love that show...

ReplyDeleteI'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.
Is your video as good/better than the other one?
ReplyDelete#6 is best pony.
ReplyDeleteHaha loved the Dark of the Moon one. XD However, Peter Cullen's voice coming out of Celestia's mouth. That's a mood killer. XD
ReplyDeleteEpona looks pretty cool, man.
ReplyDelete@JHaller2

So... I'd do that, I guess. :P
Epona: A pony version of an actual pony!? My head!
ReplyDeleteYo dawg, I heard you like ponies so I made a pony out of a pony so you can look at ponies while you look at ponies.

Interesting, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe Clue one was wonderful, one of my all time favorite movies!

The Clue video is inspired. I recall chatting about the idea in /filly but this is even better than I had hoped. =) Thanks for sharing it!

ReplyDeletePrincess Celestia = Optimus Prime
ReplyDelete*Imagines what Celestia would bring to the ever changing character of Number 2.*
ReplyDeleteThat would be one bitchin' episode of the Prisoner.
*Imagines ponies in that weird teeter totter video monitor thing.*
Excuse me I need to go write a fanfic.
Great batch! I loved all three ^^
ReplyDeleteHmmm, Fluttershy working for the FBI, and a Gorilla mask for Twilight Sparkle.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, My Little Prisoner is FANTASTIC (former Six of One member, been to The Village, etc. etc.)
ReplyDeleteLazy content is lazy, one star.
ReplyDeleteYo dawg, we heard you like Hasbro...
ReplyDeleteThe Clue one is full of win!
ReplyDeleteSpike: But he was your second husband, your first husband ALSO disappeared!
Rarity: Well, that was his job! He was an illusionist!
Spike: But he never reappeared!
Rarity: Well, he wasn't a very good illusionist...
XD
OPTIMUS CELESTIA! XD oh, lol. I laughed so hard)))))
ReplyDelete#3 gave me chills!
ReplyDeleteI've been a little disappointed with PMVs recently, but all three of these were amazing. Great job everypony!
ReplyDelete1. Funny
ReplyDelete2. Never heard of The Prisoner, so I don't really get this.
3. If only the actual movie was as good as this pony trailer.
Thanks everybody for the positive comments on the Clue remix trailer. It was my first attempt at a vid and hopefully I should have at least one more coming out in the near future.
ReplyDelete@Stryke Yeah, that was really good! The synchs for Rainbow Dash as Col. Mustard and Spike as Wadsworth were the best, IMO.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to see more Clue quotes done with ponies... especially after just watching that movie on YouTube...
Rainbow Dash: ...just checking.
Applejack: Is everything OK?
Rainbow Dash: Yep. Two corpses, everything's fine.
---
Fluttershy: I'm sure there's no one up there...
Celestia: Then YOU go in front!
Fluttershy: Alright.
...
...
...
---
Luna: Repent! The kingdom of heaven is at hand!
...
Luna: But your souls are in danger!
Pinkie Pie: Our LIVES are in danger, you beatnik! *doorslam*
And the list goes on... @_@
#3 was pretty epic. I like how well the ponies go!!! Hell it could be a real trailer!!!! But I'm a transformers geek so...
