Below the break you can find all sorts of events sent to me in the last week, celebrating the first official holiday for pony fans everywhere. Lets make this a yearly thing!
I will continue to accept more entries, so keep an eye on this post for anything new! If you have one to submit, send an email with BRONY DAY as the subject line.
They tossed me a coupon code you can use at checkout for 5 Dollars off in honor of brony day. They are also letting me give out a free shirt voucher!I'll run that the same way as I always do. Bronies Appreciation Dinner
Bronies-NYC (the ponies behind the every-three-months pony extravaganza known as BroNYCon) will be holding a Brony Appreciation Day dinner mini-meet at Cha Cha's in Little Italy, Manehattan. No admission fee, since it's just dinner in a restaurant.

Princess Luna PMV Contest

Theme: Princess Luna Tribute
Length: More than 3 minutes at least, preference for full lenght songs

First, let me just say that I am a huge Friendship is Magic fan.
ReplyDeleteWhat autist thought it would be a good idea to schedule Brony Appreciation Day the same day everyone else is going to see the final Harry Potter movie?
Harry Potter is a children's book series widely beloved and openly read by adults and celebrated by the media and society.
My Little Pony is a little girl's cartoon shunned by adults, except for a few fat neckbeard virgin pedophile furries, and will never gain widespread acceptance and popularity among adults the way children's media like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Transformers have.
Also, did anyone notice the irony in bronies declaring their own appreciation holiday for themselves? That's like throwing your own birthday party and celebrating it by yourself. Even Pinkie wouldn't do that. She at least had the decency to invent imaginary friends to share it with.
Instead of a masturbatory self-celebration day, why didn't we have a day where we showed our appreciation to the creators of the show, where each fan pledged to introduce a friend or family member to the show, where we did something creative or did some community volunteer work as bronies? We should celebrate the show, not ourselves.

Part of the (although be it minor) reason the show has gotten attention besides the obvious(Faust,Animation and other things that have been talked about ad nausiem) is the older fanbase.
Given the quality of work put into the show I can see this getting more popularity as the years go on. Time will tell but I have confidence in the remaining staff on the show.
I don't see this as a let's celebrate ourselves etc. More so let's celebrate the show even more. Have you not seen the apprectation given to Daniel Ingram Lauren Faust and Daniel Thiessyion and not to mention some of the animators of the show.
In away by the sheer volume of content we've created you can say we've been celebrating the show for quite awhile now.

ReplyDeleteSeeing all this love for this show today nearly brings a tear to my eye. I love this show. I love the fandom. This show is probably one of the greatest things I have seen on television for a long while. I hope this show continues to be awesome for the entirety of the series. ReplyDeleteI submitted a raffle draw to the awesome hat giveaway, and Sethisto's t-shirt contest...it being almost 3AM on July 16th on the USA east coast, and no winners announced, I'm wondering what metric bronies go by to determine holiday spans.

ReplyDeleteThe end time was 1am mountain time (where I am at) so the end of the day on the Pacific coast. Winners (I decided to have two winners because of the high interest) are announced on my DA page.
