Someone uploaded a video to youtube of a bunch of behind the scenes shots for Bridle Gossip! It's pretty fascinating to see how everything comes togeather. You can find the embed after the break!
Nice vid, it's especially cool to see the voiceover process. It's one of the rare shows where everyone records together, no wonder they play off each other so wel!
Ooooh, I love videos like this, getting a peek behind the production and development of anything is really interesting. Is the person who posted this an animator or something?
Oh and also, Spike's voice actor. I always suspected that it was a girl, but seeing her in action is almost surreal... for some reason.
This seems... oddly staged. A lot of the lines have different delivery, and I thought the industry standard was to record each VA alone in the sound booth?
That is only in anime and video games, so they can match voice flaps. MLP is pre-lay so the voices are done with all the actors and actresses in the room before the animation is done.
@Anonymous Most shows have several people recording together. It's not uncommon at all. It's actually rarer to have people voice recording separately, which is why it was considered unusual that Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher supposedly never met each other during the recording of Open Season, despite voicing the two main characters.
Also, while standing VA's in a booth alone is industry standard, some shows like to put them together to play off each other better(i.e. Foster's Home for Imaginary friends).
Seth you need your sleep, your starting to let your grammar slip, force Cereal to do the nightshift, it's not like he'll post Rari..... On second thought forget it.
For those of you wondering about Twilight's voice, and it not being Tara Strong, this is most likely 1st read, or there for getting other character's lines and the timing right. there needs to be a stand in to make the delivery right. Some are place holders, some are actually used.
That's cause Shannon Chan-Kent is Pinkie's singing voice.
Andrea Liebman (Leibman?) is her speaking voice.
Now that I think about it, that VA in place of Tara (one of those VAs so amazing they can record at home and ship it out over the internet to the actual production) may be Twilight's singing voice actress. Though I'm not sure.
All I know is, it is WEIRD to see Cathy Weseluck (Again, cannot spell last names) voicing Spike for real. I mean, you know it's a girl, but seeing it in action is just...strange.
I'm dissapoint in the MLP team about Spike, though. They should have taken a note from the second best show of all time, AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER, and not used a middle aged woman for your young boy character.
After seeing this, 2 thoughts went through my head. 1, disappointment that applejack's va isn't wearing a hat. 2, I GOTTA see bridle gossip again *goes to watch*
@Bosstone I always kinda knew, and I really don't like his voice. I'd prefer if it were genuine. Hell, the kid who voiced Aang isn't doing anything, they could have gotten him to do it.
A part of me doesn't like watching these because it breaks the illusion. But then I find out things I never knew. Like how Spike is voiced by a woman. Next thing I know, I'll find out Big Mac is voiced by a 6 year old or something.
I always thought the idea of using females to voice male characters originated from Japan as they do that kind of stuff most of the time for characters.
Also, I can't get it over my head that the VA of Spike also voiced Denis in Kid vs Kat. Everytime I hear Spike, I always hear Denis talking.
I'll be honest, I'd be pretty interested in seeing group recording sessions of whole episodes. It'd be interesting to see them go from "streamers!" to "um...if that's okay with you." or "Y'all" to "20 percent cooler"
I didn't know Spike was a girl (lol), but I don't really mind the voice. To me it matches.
Because kids are hard to find, let alone good ones. Older women can do the voice, and they can be easily contacted, and they usually have a lot more experience/training. Kids can be difficult to work with. Also, there's that whole puberty thing. Directors don't have to worry about an older woman's voice changing suddenly on them.
And it's been going on for years. Rocky being voiced by June Foray (GODDESS OF VOICE ACTING) being one of the earliest examples that comes to mind. I mean, on Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Kevin was voiced by, I kid you not, THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE. The arguably MANLIEST of the characters in that show was voiced by a woman.
And not to mention all the roles Kathy Soucie has done, and Grey DeLisle, and obviously, Tara Strong, who as we've mentioned voices Timmy Turner, and Ben Tennyson (original show). And if you had a 90's childhood, Ash Ketchum was voiced by Veronica Taylor. So again, another woman voicing a ridiculously popular male character. AND YOU NEVER KNEW TILL IT WAS LOOKED UP.
I tried to find the clip from The Incredibles, but it isn't on youtube. So, please picture that little kid on his big wheel when I tell you THAT WAS AWWWESOME!
Though no one else mentioned it, the artist in me was also really interested in that brief look at storyboarding (and the rest) in the first half. I'd like to see more in-depth behind the scenes on that!
Also noteworthy is that the music at the beginning is a slightly extended version of Pinkie's disco BGM from "The Best Night Ever" (the version played in the episode cuts off when the cake hits Rarity).
Judging from my knowledge of her voice alone, I THINK that the stand-in for Twilight's VA is Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity's VA). Which is kind of neat in and of itself. Hopefully somepony can confirm or deny this!
Oh my god it's Ashleigh Ball playing both her characters along with the rest of the voice cast. I have the most humongous crush for her voice work, both animation and musical.
It's like they're giving us all the content for a DVD for free. It's kinda awesome in a weird way, and probably a cheaper way of releasing the content. And one does have to question the profit on those DVDs after producing them, VS profit made on toys by increasing the fan count without spending money to make DVDs.
Nothing ruins a cartoon more than seeing the voices coming from a human's mouth.
There is absolutely no way I'm looking at this video. I'd rather be forced to look at all the very worst porn and ultra-violent pictures than watch 3 seconds of behind-the-scenes footage. Not even going to read the comments to see if anyone else said anything similar.
This reminds me of the time I got to spend time watching the cast of Code: Lyoko voice an episode - they would all crowd into a small recording sofa, share a couch, and pass snacks around while taking turns at the sole microphone - the amusing thing is that it kinda immunised me to female actors doing male voices, as one of the actresses I met (Sharon Mann), was dextrous enough to not only voice a male and female character, but could do entire conversations between them in one take (and given said characters were a couple, I got to see a lot of Sharon talking to herself). Compared to that, seeing Cathy Weseluck voicing Spike seems normal, heh.
Will say, that the second I saw this vid I was having a little fangasm at the production art (were those concept sketches of the mane cast wearing halters and riding gear?), but the second we cut to the voice booth I was convinced it was not Tara Strong (the voice seemed right but the face did not match pictures of Tara). However if that actually is Tabitha St. Germaine, then I'm highly impressed with her ability to imitate Tara's delivery for Twilight.
And I never knew Tara effectively 'worked from home' - I wonder if that's the same for some of the other shows she's been in.
In addition to all the reasons 11.27 PM anon already stated why so often women are hired to voice little boys, children just aren't allowed to do as much. As dictated by law, they can't work as long, they need more breaks etc etc. In my opinion, Cathy does a great job voicing Spike.
That is also why so often identical twins are hired to play a single character in a life action show. Cuts the workload in half which allows for a lot quicker production.
Seems to be standin voice actors. I swear some of the lines are slightly different, and Spike and Twilight's voice actors are different.
Also Pinkie's actor also did Applejack. It's probably for the purposes of getting the animators lip-sync references before they put the final voicing over it.
Also, about using women to do the voices of little boys (that sounded way less creepy in my head), It is usually easier to get a grown women to do work than a little kid. I have heard of quite a few stories about how difficult it can get them to sit still for more than 2 minutes. I went to see Travis Willingham at a convention last weekend who had a story about how he and the director of Full Metal Alchemist had to bribe Aaron Dismuke (the original VA for Al) with Snickers and bottles of coke just to keep him in the booth long enough to do the lines.
Hey guys! You know that username that uploaded that video? "litzkyprMLP"? Apparently, there's actually a legit PR website that affiliates in helping Hasbro.
This is awesome. Also awesome is finding out Pinkie Pie's VA is as cute as Pinkie Pie herself. :)
I'd love to work in a place like that. I'm not a creative type, but even doing IT work for them would be awesome. Just being in the same building and being part of creating something like this would be beyond cool!
"And I never knew Tara effectively 'worked from home' - I wonder if that's the same for some of the other shows she's been in. "
If they're in LA? She'll probably go to a studio, but when it comes to a lot of "big name VAs" they typically have their own home studio and record via ISDN line. Or if they're out of town and their voice is needed their agent will make arrangements to rent out someplace like a radio station which has an ISDN line.
@Anonymous
"and I thought the industry standard was to record each VA alone in the sound booth? "
It typically is, but a lot of VAs PREFER the group-recording session due to the interaction. Take the original G1 Transformers for example, the sessions for that were semi-packed rooms.
I absolutely adore how they bring in that instrumental of "Giggle at the Ghostie" right before Pinkie Pie's parts. It's as if they realized she's so awesome she needs her own background music.
As for spike being a older female VA, it's more likely that they just didn't have many young boys audition. Not many 8 year olds want to go audition for a little girls show.
All of the CMC are kids, so I doubt they'd turn away the auditions.
Im the guy who posted it. I have infact 3 Youtube channels.
The one it uploaded it to, was my first I made when I was 13 back in 2008. I use it for trash uploads. Also I would get a copyright strike, not a full ban.
Ah, I've found the problem. I can't get ANY YouTube content to play on my computer for some odd reason. Checked my computer over, no anomalies so I think the problem may be at their end...
I think YouTube is inundated with traffic for the Harry Potter premiere event live stream, and it's bogged down the rest of the site. They've probably had to divert resources to keep the live feed running and viewable. That's my theory, in any event...
Okay, the YouTube problem, whatever it was, seems to have been resolved. Pretty cool video, and it answers one of my questions - whether the cast recorded together (which informs and enriches the interaction between them), or if they were recorded separately. I'm please to see that they record together. Cool tablets, now I want one! LOL. I'd love to see more stuff like this!
It's commonplace (in Vancouver anyway) for multiple pre-lay actors to record in the same room, "speaking to each other" and recording a whole scene at a time. (Anime is different - then they usually have each actor dub his or her lines seperately)
As a general rule, I far prefer shows recorded this way - often the actors get to add in their own little twists or tweak their lines just slightly, improving the whole script. I love the Vancouverite VAs - it was their enthusiasm and talent that inspired me to try voice acting.
Oh, and that's definitely Tabitha as Twilight Sparkle. As others have already said, Strong lives down in LA and would record her lines seperately at a studio down there. So since the Canadian cast are recording a scene at a time, they'd have to have someone voice Twilight up there for spacing/timing reasons.
In fact, it's not unheard of in these lower budget productions for an actor in a different location to the main cast (in this case, Strong) to copy the original recording when it comes to "slotting in their lines" so as to get the timing right. I wonder if that's what happened here, with Strong copying Tabitha's pre-recorded lines?
YAKKO: Oh, you know, she the person who tells you to redo every line like fifty times.
DOT: Yeah. And faster.
WAKKO: Her? I hate her!
Silly I know, but illustrative of why the studios like to have the actors record separately, as well as the use of stand-ins and why some takes might not match the finished project - keeping all those talented (and expensive) VAs waiting around when they might now have many lines isn't good business practice.
Surprised no one's mentioned the picture of AJ wearing a pirate outfit, along with holding a sword. And the pictures of Rarity, Fluttershy, and AJ wearing those vests and bridles. Have a look:
THE VIDEO POSTED ABOVE IS NOW PRIVATE, yes, but if you bothered to look through the rest of the posts before shouting out what everyone else already knows, you'd see that somepony has already linked the re-upload several times.
That studio... That set-up! THOSE TABLETS! I. MUST. HAVE!
Glad that she isn't the actual voice of Twilight. Even if she's a stand...voice...whatever-in, she could be more emotive. I know I wouldn't just be standing there talking almost deadpan.

VastaKustutayeah... I was like... "wtf is with twilights voice"
VastaKustutaLOVE THIS~
VastaKustutaIs that different VA doing Twilight? Or is she just doing a different tone before the final cut?
VastaKustutaWhoa... it's weird seeing the ponies' voices coming from human mouths O_o
VastaKustutaGreat stuff! :)
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaMay be a stand-in, so they can get the other cast recorded without Tara being there.
And good grief the woman doing Pinkie's voice is cute. (Sure doesn't look like Shannon Chan-Kent either.)
Oh sweet sweet behind the scenes video. I've died and gone to pony heaven.
VastaKustutaTara Strong lives in LA as opposed to most of the VAs who live in Vancouver. The women doing Twilight's voice is a placeholder.

VastaKustutaBest Night Ever
I highly suspect they filmed this AFTER they discovered the show was so bloody popular. It happens at studios a lot for DVD extras. Not that I mind.
VastaKustutaPinkies Voice actress is exactly the way I imagined her. The rest, not so much.
VastaKustutaI'm so happy I got to see Andrea Libman!!
VastaKustutaCan I get a link? video isn't working.

Wow, spike's VA is a woman!
VastaKustutaWait, Timmy Turner voice of Twilight? That's fucking awesome!
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaOhhh. I don't actually know any of the VAs, I cheated with IMDb. XD Bit me in the backside, it did.
I was definitely hoping for something like this.
VastaKustutaThis is awesome!
"Tara Strong? You're not Tara Strong. I'm going back to bed."
VastaKustutaYay behind the scenes.
this kind of thing should be in a MLP offical DVD
VastaKustutaor at least the youtube channel
i hope we see more of this kind of thing this is just awesome
I love how in character voice actors get. Though it's not surprising, I'm sure I'd make hand gestures too.
VastaKustuta@Daffodil
VastaKustutaSeconded!!
Oh god, seeing the voice actors fucks with my head so much.
VastaKustutaShutupandtakemymoney.png
VastaKustutaPretty amazing.
VastaKustutaI'm dissapoint in the MLP team about Spike, though. They should have taken a note from the second best show of all time, AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER, and not used a middle aged woman for your young boy character.
VastaKustutaAhhhhh! The magic! It is ruined!
VastaKustuta@Dave Mustang (AKA the clophater)
VastaKustutaYeah, but until you saw the VA, you didn't know or care, did you? Spike's voice works well as is, regardless of who's doing it.
Those humans sure are good at imitating the ponies.
VastaKustutaI kid, I kid. Possibly.
It definitely looks like they have as much fun making as we do watching. That makes me happy. And wanting of more. D:
I'd wager if they showed footage of the entire recording session with just the VAs, that would get just as many views. And art and fan fiction.
After seeing this, 2 thoughts went through my head. 1, disappointment that applejack's va isn't wearing a hat. 2, I GOTTA see bridle gossip again *goes to watch*

Wish I knew why some shows go with real kids and some get women to do the voices. But if it works it works.
@Bosstone
VastaKustutaI think Avatar did it because they wanted genuine ageing in the characters.
my brain exploded
VastaKustutaPhotoshop the VA faces over the Celestia letter, anyone?
VastaKustutaI'm surprised a lot of you didn't know spikes VA was a girl
VastaKustutaThis right here I so much enjoy watching. Behind the scene footage. I just love seeing the production at their works.
VastaKustutaFor a 2 min video, it feels like I've learned 20 minutes of what I could have learn out there.
Humm, seems like they have a fill in for Tara Strong, must add in her lines later.
VastaKustutaI gotta say, it seemed a bit weird to see spike's lines coming from that lady.
I always thought the idea of using females to voice male characters originated from Japan as they do that kind of stuff most of the time for characters.

VastaKustutaDVD EXTRA PLEEEEEASE?
VastaKustutaVery neat. I'm jealous - I wish i could get my machinima voice talent in the same room like that.
VastaKustutaIt's either staged, or not the final cut. If you compare what Pinkie says in this to the actual episode, it's different.
VastaKustutaDude, this is so many levels of awesome. I would happily give an arm or leg to work at this studio.
VastaKustutaI mean, seeing them work on the CINTIQ's on actual animation and animatics is just... breathtaking.
Though no one else mentioned it, the artist in me was also really interested in that brief look at storyboarding (and the rest) in the first half. I'd like to see more in-depth behind the scenes on that!
VastaKustutaThe voice acting was really neat, too!
Oh cool I use the same editing software at the place I work at as the MLP guys. Neat.
VastaKustutaSpike voiced by a woman? Simpsons did it!!
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaDon't forget Nancy Cartwright as Bart, among other Simpsons voices done by female voice actors.
This is epic
VastaKustutaHOW COULD I FORGET?
VastaKustutaOh right, I've watched like, three episodes of the Simpsons. I loved those episodes, but I've just never found time to watch them.
This makes me want to be a VA for MLP SOOOOO much more :((
VastaKustutaComplaining aside, I like seeing this kind of stuff. Definitely shows exactly how much work and fun goes into making shows/movies.

Somehow seeing the actors stand there recording the voices almost...ruins it. Anypony else thing Twilight's voice sounded a little off?

VastaKustutaExactly what I was thinking.

VastaKustutaI remember Tabitha St. Germain voicing shana in the english dub of shana, and yeah, sounds A LOT like she's the placeholder for twilight.

VastaKustutaWhat this fellow said.
GODDAMNIT I WANT TO SEE SOME RARITY. The best voice acting in the show, and she doesn't make an appearance? Ridiculous!
VastaKustutaThat was great! I'd love to have some of those animation tools, and Spike's VA took me a little by surprise. Thanks to whoever uploaded this!
VastaKustutaI love the expressions (and the sound) coming from Pinkie's VA. Makes me laugh (in a good way) :D
VastaKustutaThough dang, that analogue for Twilight really throws me off.

It typically is, but a lot of VAs PREFER the group-recording session due to the interaction. Take the original G1 Transformers for example, the sessions for that were semi-packed rooms.
Its private now :c
VastaKustutaI miss all the good stuff. :(
VastaKustutaI managed to save a copy. I suspect someone posted something they weren't supposed to, and were told to take it down.
VastaKustutaI'm hesitant to repost it for that reason, the last thing I want to do is get on Hasbro or Studio B's bad side.
Arrgh.
Private now :(. I missed it! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
VastaKustutaSilly fools, thinking you can take something off the Internet!
VastaKustutahttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=87EOG0Q0
damn to late
VastaKustutabut thanks for the megaupload anon!
I absolutely adore how they bring in that instrumental of "Giggle at the Ghostie" right before Pinkie Pie's parts. It's as if they realized she's so awesome she needs her own background music.
VastaKustutaSpeaking of which, I *want* that track! :)
i missed it! no no no no no! nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
VastaKustutawhy is it private :,(
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaI love you so much right now
Private?
VastaKustutaFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
is youtube down for anyone else (no videos will play)?
VastaKustutaAs for spike being a older female VA, it's more likely that they just didn't have many young boys audition. Not many 8 year olds want to go audition for a little girls show.
VastaKustutaAll of the CMC are kids, so I doubt they'd turn away the auditions.

VastaKustutaHere you go!

VastaKustutaPerhaps this was a leaked preview of special features that will be on the season 1 box set?
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaAnon, you are loved.
I'm the anon who put up the Megaupload link. No problem at all. :)
VastaKustutaThanks to whoever put it on YouTube. I'd do it but I don't want to risk my account; got too much stuff on it.
So.. this is the episode they featured? Aww... too bad, no me then. D:
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaIm the guy who posted it. I have infact 3 Youtube channels.
The one it uploaded it to, was my first I made when I was 13 back in 2008. I use it for trash uploads.
Also I would get a copyright strike, not a full ban.
Video is private, therefore can't watch it. FFFFFF
VastaKustutawhy is is a private video?
VastaKustutaI can't watch it because it is private...

VastaKustutaAh, I've found the problem. I can't get ANY YouTube content to play on my computer for some odd reason. Checked my computer over, no anomalies so I think the problem may be at their end...

VastaKustutaThis sucks I really want to watch this but you torture me by making private.
VastaKustutauuh vid no workeee
VastaKustutaI think YouTube is inundated with traffic for the Harry Potter premiere event live stream, and it's bogged down the rest of the site. They've probably had to divert resources to keep the live feed running and viewable. That's my theory, in any event...
VastaKustutaPrivate? Why keep it all to your selves? Remember:
VastaKustutaYou gotta shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare! You gotta caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare!
Why is the video private!?
VastaKustutaI can't see it, it's private.... -______-
VastaKustutaOkay, the YouTube problem, whatever it was, seems to have been resolved. Pretty cool video, and it answers one of my questions - whether the cast recorded together (which informs and enriches the interaction between them), or if they were recorded separately. I'm please to see that they record together. Cool tablets, now I want one! LOL. I'd love to see more stuff like this!
VastaKustutaANON DELIVARS
VastaKustutaDamn, private? I need my VA fix! :[
VastaKustutaDamn! Why is the video private?!
VastaKustutaI'm getting a "Video is private" message.
VastaKustutaBah! I need my pony!
Okay... so that was amazing. Though I was upset I didn't get to see Tara Strong doing Twi's voice. It looks like they had a place holder.
VastaKustutaIt's saying the video is private for me, as well. What gives?
VastaKustutaVideo is private. Goddammit.

VastaKustuta@everypony crying about the video beeing private, without reading all the comments.

You know what I just found out? This video (and a new "fan forum") are on the official My Little Pony Facebook page... with different music?
VastaKustutahttp://www.facebook.com/mylittlepony?sk=app_200968439955315
BAAAAW The video's now private.
VastaKustutaI WANTED TO SHOW THIS TO MUH SISTERS!!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!"!"!"!"!"!"!??!>!?!?!":!?>!"!!?>!?"!?!>!? ?
VastaKustutaOh, found it...
VastaKustutaThis video is private.
VastaKustuta-__-
It's commonplace (in Vancouver anyway) for multiple pre-lay actors to record in the same room, "speaking to each other" and recording a whole scene at a time. (Anime is different - then they usually have each actor dub his or her lines seperately)
VastaKustutaAs a general rule, I far prefer shows recorded this way - often the actors get to add in their own little twists or tweak their lines just slightly, improving the whole script.
IT TURNED PRIVATE AHHHH!
VastaKustutaYa its private. Oh noes :<.
VastaKustutaTo bad we can't view it :(
VastaKustutaThat's awesome, they just need much more of it on the Bluray sets.
VastaKustutaAnd thanks for the dudes who made it available after the first one was made unavailable.
Private? Shenanigans!
VastaKustutaThe Animaniacs on Voice Acting:
VastaKustutaWAKKO: Voice director? Who's that?
YAKKO: Oh, you know, she the person who tells you to redo every line like fifty times.
DOT: Yeah. And faster.
WAKKO: Her? I hate her!
Silly I know, but illustrative of why the studios like to have the actors record separately, as well as the use of stand-ins and why some takes might not match the finished project - keeping all those talented (and expensive) VAs waiting around when they might now have many lines isn't good business practice.
EVERYPONY
VastaKustutaTHERE'S A LINK TO THE UNPRIVATED VIDEO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR7gvHK6nlE
IT'S NOT HARD
Why can't I see this?
VastaKustutaWhy, why, whhhhhhyyyyy?!?!?!?!
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaOh, I see.
Sorry 'bout that.
Fuck yeah, I knew Tara's name was familiar! I just started watching The Fairly Odd Parents again on Netflix too:D
VastaKustutaSurprised no one's mentioned the picture of AJ wearing a pirate outfit, along with holding a sword. And the pictures of Rarity, Fluttershy, and AJ wearing those vests and bridles. Have a look:
VastaKustutahttp://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/32481?search=behind_the_scenes
Also, I'd love to see footage of Tabitha recording Rarity's Whining and Mule rants.
THIS VIDEO IS PRIVATE?!
VastaKustuta0:38 there's a drawing of a black and white collie on the artist's left screen. Early Winona concept? I'm so glad they changed her to a sable.
VastaKustutaAlso, I've never seen a picture of Andrea Libman before. She's beautiful!
THE VIDEO POSTED ABOVE IS NOW PRIVATE, yes, but if you bothered to look through the rest of the posts before shouting out what everyone else already knows, you'd see that somepony has already linked the re-upload several times.
VastaKustutaThat studio... That set-up! THOSE TABLETS!
VastaKustutaI. MUST. HAVE!
Glad that she isn't the actual voice of Twilight.
Even if she's a stand...voice...whatever-in, she could be more emotive.
I know I wouldn't just be standing there talking almost deadpan.
Ok the video is now labeled as private. Time to take down this post.
