• Anonymous Hacks Austrian Political Site...With Rainbow Dash

Apparently Antisec has some bronies, or maybe they just like Rainbow Dash.  Kurter has been brought down by Anonymous, the same ones wreaking havoc all over the internet right now.

I still say Rainbow Dash looks like a duck in that vector.

    1. Not sure how I feel about this...

    2. @no space
there's bronies who don't want to convay their identity... how is that a problem?

      VastaKustuta
    3. Lol.
Why is the news page in that picture german?
      xD

      VastaKustuta
    4. Oh no. This isn't the kind if publicity we need.

      VastaKustuta
    5. Oh i live in Austria and i heard about that in the Radio.
But they didnt say anything about Rainbowdash D:

      VastaKustuta
    6. Related: Awww maaaaan, bad press.

      Unrelated: We're 4,000 away from 15-million pageviews!

      VastaKustuta
    7. Their website at http://spoe.at/ won't load, and the google snapshot just has a line of text in german ("Verbindung zu Datenbank ireds fehlgeschlagen!") that google says translates to "Failed connection to database IREDs".

I quick google search failed to turn up the website reporting this.

I don't suppose anypony could help out more?

      VastaKustuta
    8. @Flatterscheu"Austrian", not "Australian". It's a bit late, I know. I made that mistake at first, too.

      VastaKustuta
    9. If Rainbow Dash becomes some sort of symbol for Anonymous, I'm going to hurt something.

      VastaKustuta
    10. "Anonymous said...
Oh no. This isn't the kind if publicity we need"

Agreed. FIM is about love and tolerance.

      VastaKustuta
    11. I wonder if this is an attempt to make bronies look bad...

      VastaKustuta
    12. I agree with a lot of what's been said above, I don't think hacking websites and posting ponies is a good idea... Not exactly good publicity :P

      VastaKustuta
    13. no no no no NO NO NO! dag nabbit!

      VastaKustuta
    14. How does this make us look bad? They did what they always do, those were just some other political extremists and it isn't the first time they left something funny on the page they hacked. I don't see at all, how this would make bronies look bad in any way.

Seriously this is awesome. Though, the press already has enough problems explaining the name "lulzSec" I doubt anyone will be competent enough to explain why there was a picture of rainbow dash on the page :)

      VastaKustuta
    15. CANNOT UNSEE duck

      VastaKustuta
    16. Being associated with hackers is how it may make us look bad.
But, meh. Can't control what they do.
Just keep on preaching love and respect, bronies.

      VastaKustuta
    17. Celestia disapproves of political discussion. Consider this a kind warning out of the goodness of her heart.

      VastaKustuta
    18. I'm not sure which to be more offended by: The fact that somepony thought it would be fun to slander Dashie's good name, or the fact that Seth thinks she looks like a duck.

Clearly she's a swan if anything.

      VastaKustuta
    19. Probably had more to do with RD's pose than the fandom itself. -Character- saluting Anon's 'noble' efforts? Sounds like Anon to me.

~I wonder if this is an attempt to make bronies look bad...
If this is a bash on the fandom, it's one heck of a roundabout way of doing it. Hate groups are the more typical medium for fire roasting a fandom.

      VastaKustuta
    20. >Just keep preaching love and respect bronies.
Yeah, and just remember where the fandom came from.
And you are considered the black sheep.

      VastaKustuta
    21. Actually, Kurier merely reported the hack on the democratic party website!

"Anonymous has struck again. The worldwide operating group of hackers has at night on Friday, the website of the federal Social Democratic Party and edited www.spoe.at cracked under their home so that there only on the "Anonymous" logo and a myriad to see e-mail addresses, user names and passwords."

      VastaKustuta
    22. If this is an isolated incident, whatever. If Anon tries to adopt Dashy as some kind of symbol, then we have a problem. The Brony community with the message of "Love and Tolerance" should act as an antithesis to Antonymous and their shenanigans, not be thrown in with them.

      VastaKustuta
    23. Clearly not done by a brony, just some dude on the internet who thought saluting Rainbow as funny. If it were a brony, he/she would have used the brony seal instead of the anonymous seal. :)

      http://s3.amazonaws.com/kym-assets/photos/images/original/000/132/023/Brony%20Seal.jpg?1307608882

      VastaKustuta
    24. Personally I'd much rather have us bronies associated with anonymous than with a right-extremist political group (SPÖ).
Also, there is no such thing as bad publicity, so thank you anonymous, you're awesome :)

But Seth, there is a mistake in your news-post: "Kurter" is not down, as such a thing does not exist. The "Kurier" reported about the pages of SPÖ and FPÖ (right-extremist political groups as been said before) being hacked.

      VastaKustuta
    25. @WTBrony

So are bronies like the anti-anonymous?

      VastaKustuta
    26. @Scorch_Mechanic

Link to the news site the screenshot is from (it's in German, though). The article also refers to a press release of sorts, which explains the hackers' motivation: apparently they're pissed off at the xenophobic rhetoric of one right-wing party, whose website was shut down completely, and at the spinelessness of the ostensibly center-left SPÖ, whose website was injected with some courage in the form of Rainbow Dash. Someone from Austria will have to tell you if the hack was deserved or not.

Anyway, the "press release" mentions ponies, though in a somewhat non-sequitur manner: "P.S.: A pony is not a unicorn!"
(Research explains this: I guess somebody in the press claimed the site was hacked by a unicorn...)

      VastaKustuta
    27. In other news, we just hit 15 mil page views! Woo!

      VastaKustuta
    28. Aw damn it.

Now Anonymous broke the law, defending their actions would not make us look tolerant of opinions and other people, it would make us look like we would not stop a crime from happening. If this becomes an issue we need to make sure that, although Anonymous had good intentions, it is not related with Bronies in any way and they still broke the law.

Love and Tolerance for opinions and non-illegal actions: Yes

Love and tolerance for illegal actions such as this one (even if it was for a good cause): No

However, I doubt it will become a big issue. They did the same thing with Nyan Cat and it didn't lose any popularity.

      VastaKustuta
    29. @Anonymous

Bronies are really the anti-/b/. Even /b/ronies are so different from the rest of the board it's hard to believe.

      VastaKustuta
    30. >Love and tolerance.
      >Love and tolerance.
You keep using those words, I don't think you realize they mean nothing in the real world.
Hell, I doubt you realize that your fandom for the most part only used that against the trolls of the days of /co/ and /b/ as a way to fan the troll flames.
It was effective then, not so when applied to the real world. Sometimes you gotta love, but with a little bit of tough love.

      VastaKustuta
    31. oh god, this is gonna cause some fucking controversial havoc

      VastaKustuta
    32. @AnonymousUh, like any other attack by Anonymous.
      No, it really wont.
Literally no news coverage other than local bored news agencies will cover this.

      VastaKustuta
    33. Don't worry about it. They use all sorts of things as symbols and none of those other things have gotten bad press overall. They'll switch to something else goofy next time.

      VastaKustuta
    34. And soon some pony-illiterate journalists publish their articles about ponies being the symbol of the hackers. Just the way there was article where I live, about Pedobear being a symbol of widespread pedophile ring.

      VastaKustuta
    35. @Scorch_Mechanic

      http://kurier.at/nachrichten/3918815.php

That's the news site the screenshot is from (it's in German, though). The article also refers to a press release of sorts, which explains the hackers' motivation (apparently they're pissed off at the xenophobic rhetoric of one right-wing party, whose website was shut down completely, and at the spinelessness of the ostensibly center-left SPÖ, whose website was injected with some courage in the form of Rainbow Dash. Anyway, the "press release" mentions ponies: "P.S.: A pony is not a unicorn!"
That sounds pretty non-sequitur, but some research leads me to believe that somebody in the media claimed the website had been hacked by a unicorn; hence the clarificaton.

      VastaKustuta
    36. @Display NameSwan? You are thinking about Celestia :P

      VastaKustuta
    37. It's an isolated incident and they probably posted it for the lulz. We have nothing to worry about and dont associate with them.

      VastaKustuta
    38. I have to agree with Macon. The RD salute image is all over 4chan and many other sights they use.
They just saw it and thought lets put it in.

I just hope it does not become a common thing.

      VastaKustuta
    39. Dammit, I knew 4chan hated us, but to now start making it look like bronies are a part of Anonymous? This is a sure fire way to get us off the internet simply to preserve our own hides from the overzealous feds.

      This will not end well.

      VastaKustuta
    40. @Anonymous I see where you're getting at, but why don't we overlook the fact how the term love and tolerance started and look at how people are treating each other in the brony community. That is: trying to actually respect each other and not throw shit storms? At least we try to be good people, Anon. There's a significant value there, in my opinion.

      VastaKustuta
    41. Eh, Anonymous is gonna anon. Bronies are gonna brone.

Also check out the Wikipedia article(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Democratic_Party_of_Austria) you'll notice something about friendship that explains why they picked Rainbow Dash.

      VastaKustuta
    42. No need to worry. Anonymous is a group that is out for the greater good (in their opinion at least). Taking justice into their own hooves is what they do. True 4chan does not enjoy our company, but Anon is on a mission to do something against the governments of the world, not bring bad publicity against us or bring us down altogether.

As long as you don't egg them on, our flanks will be fine.

      VastaKustuta
    43. It all started on /co/ & /b/. The bronies of the beginning all call these two boards home.
And no to the pessimistic Anon somewhere above. While you're correct in how that phrase started, you've seemed to of failed to pay attention to how it evolved. Love & Tolerance has begun to mean something across small sub-sections of the internet. From bronies on outlands like cprogramming, to places like the allspark forums, ProjectPokemon & and at least a few chatrooms I know of in the middle of bumfuck Egypt. The message is clear. Turn by turn, road by road, the internet has become a slightly more tolerating place. There will always be trolls. I'm one when I feel like it. There will always be racists, sexists, neo-nazi's and everything in between.
But those of us who've watched the show. Us, who we now call bronies, we've learned something.
      We learned love & tolerance.

As a /b/rony, it's hard sometimes. On caturday, I still miss the dead cats. I still miss the tits and posts ending in x. I miss the baww & gore threads.
But that day, when I saw ponies... something struck. And being cynical all the time didn't seem like it was worth it.

So no, the message of love & tolerance was never false, and it certainly never, has not, and will not die.

As for the actual news post, it's typical Anonymous. And from a brony perspective, I approve. A saluting Dashie isn't a sign of disrespect. And the other site Anons targeted had no signs of pony as far as I'm aware.
The basis of my support stands on the previous fact, and that saluting Rainbow Dash is an insignia of support.
And that's how it is used here.

      VastaKustuta
    44. @Rasi
Wise words spoken late. Yet wise words spoken.

      VastaKustuta
    45. @Anonymous ... /claps/ bravo! Took the words right out of my mouth.

      VastaKustuta
    46. Inb4 posting as Anonymous is frowned upon.
Oh wait, that's already happening on ponychan.

      VastaKustuta
    47. Not sure if I should feel proud or scared.

      VastaKustuta
    48. @Anonymousinb4banhammer for paraspriting

      VastaKustuta
    49. I'm not sure what I should be more concerned about--the attack, or Seth's eyesight.

      VastaKustuta
    50. The concept of anonymous is the best concept on the internet. Don't be stupid enough to think of it as a group or even an identity.

      VastaKustuta
    51. Love and tolerance?
      You misspelled apathy. or cowardice.
From what I see, you're just ignoring them, talking and hating them behind their back. None of you guys know shit about loving and tolerating. So drop it.

"Don't raid them... We're wimps... We don't want any trouble... We'll only make things worse..."

If this really is what being a brony is, I'm not a brony.

      VastaKustuta
    52. Well Dash loves pranks doesn't she? Nothing to worry about.
Not that I approve hacking, of course.

      VastaKustuta
    53. @Anonymous
      You have my sword.

I actually love this, and a lot.

      VastaKustuta
    54. @WTBrony
The Brony community with the message of "Love and Tolerance" should act as an antithesis to Antonymous and their shenanigans, not be thrown in with them
I think that's a big statement to make. Anon arose out of the desire for internet freedom, and going to the extreme: vigilante hacking. Conversely, the brony community has been built around a non-aggressive/passive attitude - so long as you don't attack us, we can build on one another's companionship.

While your conclusion that the two groups are bipolar in their goals, I think the basic premise of both groups is actually the same. Anon and bronies both seek to connect with their peers through the net, and many use the net as a method of increasing the impact any individual may have (via group projects, or sharing one's work with their respective community). Anon using it more of a means to an end (collectively taking down a website that is offensive to their ideals), whereas bronies use it more for the team building environment (MMOs, remix wars, collab fanfics, etc).

I wouldn't say the two groups are exact antipodes, just strongly dissimilar. But yeah, I wouldn't want the brony distinction 'being thrown in with them' either -.-

      VastaKustuta
    55. @Anonymous That's your opinion, and this is ours. I'm sorry you think of it that way.

But that isn't to say that I'm not speaking the truth when I think the internet is finally growing a conscious. It's not about ignoring or cowardice, it's about thinking before we act. 'Are we being dicks'?

We try, and that's all that matters. The idea of love and tolerance isn't solid anyway, but to me it means we tolerate every differing opinion and respect other. Who said anything about 'hating behind their backs' when in truth, it's all about 'if it's rude, don't say anything at all'? We're aware of differing opinions online, so why throw tantrums about it and demean other people when it's no big deal at all?

This, for me, is how I will be a brony. I'm not going to force others to do the same - but I just wanted you to see that not all of us think that way or are that way. If you think it's wimpy, then I don't mind, nor will I say that you suck for it.

For me, love and tolerating is having this debate with you, and then having fun with you afterwards.

      VastaKustuta
    56. @Anonymous

Apathy? Well, we couldn't care less, I mean, what are they doing to us?
Cowardice? I'm not afraid from hackers. See that LulzSec guy they captured? A 15-year old suicidal wimp that tries to shield behind his mother. LOL, I'm SO AFRAID.

      As for Love & Tolerance:

Love: This is just figurative; ever heard of "Love your enemies"? Yes, that kind of love. They try to hurt you, but you still don't have a reason to hate them.

Tolerance: What is written on the tin. If it is not harming you, don't hate it, even if you don't agree.

There is absolutely no reason bronies can't get mad at something that harms us, we defend. Look at the Wired or the FOX incidents: Yes, we were mad. No, we didn't go to insult them randomly. That's how we work. As respectful and calm as possible.

However, if you just troll for the sake of trolling and not for ignorance, then go away. Please, we don't need people like you hanging in here.

      VastaKustuta
    57. Dubs Check' em...

      VastaKustuta
    58. @Anonymous Dude, are you saying you condone arguments, fiery flames, being mad for the sake of being mad... over thinking of the best possible solutions to deal with all this muck online? I mean to be honest, I think this is the first time I ever used my brain, which helped me come upon thoughts of how my actions might hurt other people before, you know, I trolled the crap out of them.

I don't know about you and you're free to roll on your own terms, but I - for one - am sick and tired of hell debates built on online immaturity. Debates are fine, sure, but at least the bronies I've had debates with were mature about it and didn't whine or throw rabid cats at me.

I like that... 'are we being dicks?'.

      VastaKustuta
    59. I think a lot of people misunderstand what it truly means to love someone.

When we're told to love our enemies, it doesn't mean in the sense of "please sir, I want some more" when they treat us badly. What love truly means is simply to truly care about another person, and to want what is best for that person.

In the case of someone who is angry, or who tries to hurt you, loving that person means refusing to give into the toxicity of hatred, and instead to truly desire that that person's heart might one day be healed, and to be willing to do what is necessary, if anything can be done, to bring that to pass.

Loving someone who wishes you ill does not mean being a doormat. It certainly does not mean grinning and taking outright abuse. What it means is that, even though you may be hurt, and even though you may defend yourself, everything you do you do only out of necessity, and never once do you do anything because you actively wish harm on another person. It means that you are always ready to forgive if the person sincerely recognizes and wants to stop the pain that he or she has caused. It means that you refuse to hold a grudge; that you refuse to seek revenge for the sake of the infliction of suffering; and that you will be the better person, always.

That's what being a brony is all about: not being a doormat; not accepting injustice; not turning a blind eye to one who is causing pain, but always acting out of sincere concern and care for others; always being ready to forgive; and never allowing our hearts to become tainted from pain or conflict that we might encounter along the way.

Love and tolerance aren't just words. They're a way of life.

      VastaKustuta
    60. Who says love and tolerance can't be a little on the chaotic side?

      VastaKustuta
    61. @Anonymous ... like how things are chaotic when someone is paraspriting, and then someone else goes 'okay, guys, ignore the parasprite and let's just go on our merry way. Who here wants a party? Oh I do! Pony spam!!1!'

Yeah, I see that a lot, actually...

Anyway, love and tolerance has the potential to be chaotic, sure, doesn't everything else? But if I know bronies, they'll at least be chaotic and respectful. Like sipping hot, yet soothing tea.

      VastaKustuta
    62. so..scootaloo is a chicken while rainbow dash is a duck....hehe

      VastaKustuta
    63. I can see the duck, actually. If you take the saluting hoof and her tail away you get duck.

      VastaKustuta
    64. At least this will even out the idiotic "love and tolerance" crap ponychan forces on the fandom.

      VastaKustuta
    65. @GabuEx

      That was pathetic.
People like you who take this cartoon show way too seriously are the ones who ruin the fandom.

      VastaKustuta
    66. @Anonymous you mean 'love and tolerance' which is all about not being rude online and actually being mindful of other people's feelings?

      VastaKustuta
    67. Guys! I suggest we ignore the anons here who don't condone love and tolerance. If they don't want to then let them. No big deal and not worth replying to. I think it's obvious at this point... carry on!

      VastaKustuta
    68. @Anonymous

I didn't say anything about the show. I was talking about love and tolerance, something which, I would at least hope, exists external to a kids' cartoon. The show, if anything, is just a catalyst. If MLP:FiM didn't exist, nothing I said would change in the least amount.

If you believe it's pathetic not to hold grudges; not to allow evil into one's heart; and to sincerely care about others, then I don't know what to tell you. That seems like an irreconcilable difference of opinion, and I don't think there would be value in dwelling on the point for long. As such, I will simply say that I respectfully disagree, and that I hope that one day your heart might be opened.

      VastaKustuta
    69. .... Oh man, I feel like making a Rainbow Dash is a Duck macro now...

      VastaKustuta
    70. @GabuEx

If you believe that utter passiveness will solve any problems beyond our domestic sphere, either you're really young and not fully realise that you can't do anything about human nature or you're avoiding that conclussion.

Evil and good are values associated to judgements, you can't expect people to unite for no reason... Even if the love and tolerance thing were taken to an extreme, It wouldn't be useful in any kind of way: I mean, you remember the hippie movement, right?

My advice is: Act, act where you can and as you can to do what you think promotes good and avoids evil, spread the love and tolerance, but do not shelter behind them, for you're not the only one who can benefit from your actions.

      VastaKustuta
    71. Rainbow Quack.

      VastaKustuta
    72. Who said that we're being passive, though? Have you heard about the Brony Letter Project? Or, perhaps, have you seen the endless amounts of arguments from Bronies who defend themselves whenever an unfair article is shown?

The point here is that we're not dealing with it in an entirely unfair way - but we think before we act. And our actions result in mature reasonings behind why we like the show, showing others the good side of this community through sheer explanation only.

Arguments like these may crop up from such ventures, sure, but bronies have shown that we are truly capable of dealing with things offensively - by acting like adults.

I'm not saying that we should be passive - I'm just saying that love and tolerance have changed something, at least. Have you seen other online communities, anon? Where shipping wars rip the community apart, and difference of opinions lead to all out wars?

Compare and see... there already is a difference of how people deal with hairy situations. Like I said - for once this ideal made me think about my actions instead of trolling the crap out of someone, as I usually do. For once, on the internet, I felt shame by looking at myself after looking at the how the community deals with these situations.

      VastaKustuta
    73. @Anonymous

For you to believe at this point that I am advocating "utter passiveness", when I openly alluded in my initial post to the potential need to defend oneself against those who wish ill upon one, the only conclusion I can reach at this time is that you either did not read my post, full stop; or that you skimmed it, assumed you already knew the general idea of what it would contain, and then responded to that assumed, but in fact nonexistent, message.

As such, the only response I can really offer is to encourage you to read what I wrote again. You aren't responding to me; you're responding to an imagined alternate version of me. A conversation can't continue in a productive manner when this occurs.

      VastaKustuta
    74. @Anonymous ... oh, and... Rainbow SPLASH :D

      VastaKustuta
    75. Or, to put it in another, succinct fashion: Love isn't what you do. It's why you do it.

      VastaKustuta
    76. Hopefully this is a on-off thing, don't particularly want to be associated with hackers or internet crusading.

      VastaKustuta
    77. I hate that hole Anon thing with their "army" or what ever, they are cowards, hacking and attacking from the safety of their mothers basement, you don't like someone or some group go there and protest in person, like a man! (or woman)

      VastaKustuta
    78. Actually, you can ignore the rest of the post. It was pretty off-topic. Just read this part:

"After so much bad publicity, we finally get a really good one, mentioned by Vigilante Anonymous, and you guys react negatively..."

      VastaKustuta
    79. huh? where did the first part of my comment disappear to...? Oh well, as I said, off topic. I'm the guy at

      http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/07/anonymous-hacks-austrian-political.html?showComment=1309512421266#c6142365165970406564

(how do I make that "@anon" link thing?)
I was just really angry there and just lost it. So sorry, I know I could have conveyed my personal opinion in a less hurtful matter. I'm not saying what I said back there was wrong though.

      It's 4:30AM I gotta go to sleep...

      VastaKustuta
    80. @Dan Park Nah, man. I wasn't reacting negatively to this hacking news - in fact, I just don't care about it at all. I don't think it should be something to overreact about, and I pretty much feel laid back about the news. I was just replying solely to your post and I would have never replied to this news if not for that.

Anyway, no worries, man! I won't back down to what I said either, since this community truly changed me from an asshole prick to... this. I agree that we shouldn't be passive, but I think it's just this whole misunderstanding that bronies, in general, don't do anything from backlash. We do. Only constructively and in a better way than 'YOU F*CUKING SUCK GO DIE!!!11!!'.

But like I said, it's all cool! Difference of opinions after all, doesn't matter :D

      VastaKustuta
    81. Fucking hell, this isnt the Anon I know and love!

    82. Heavy Weapons Pony1. juuli 2011, kell 06:05

Thats not very nice of them :(

      VastaKustuta
    83. They can hack that site in 10 seconds flat. Or so it seems.

      VastaKustuta
    84. People seem to forget that Bronies are the sub-section of Anonymous, dedicated to rainbows and friendship.

Com'n bronies. Have a little respect to your ancestors. Without their troll raids there would be no FiMfandom this big.

Even the words "Love Tolerance" first came out of a mouth of the troll, to proclaim that no guro or sage attempt could stop them from posting ponies.

      VastaKustuta
    85. I think the way we constantly fear over our public image could end up counter-productive. I can't say I have any solutions, but I do think we can direct our attention elsewhere when necessary.

They say ignorance is bliss, and what you don't know won't hurt you. I say maybe we feign ignorance when confronted about these sorts of things in the future. That is, if we ever are.

      VastaKustuta
    86. Well, out of 10 news-sites that were reporting about this, 6 didn't even had a picture or just claimed, the side was offline / had only an anonymous logo on it. The other 4 news pages at least had a screenshot, but only 2 actually mentioned the pony :(

Personally I liked this one, I guess whoever wrote it, recognized Rainbow Dash:
      http://www.tripple.net/contator/journal/news.asp?nnr=51753

    87. vector
...you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

      VastaKustuta
    88. ... ok after rereading the article, I think the guys from journal.at interpreted a bit much into the sentence from anonymous "Ein Pony ist kein Einhorn!" (a pony is not a unicorn!) It was just that some radio channel claimed that it was a unicorn and anonymous wanted to correct them, nothing more.

      VastaKustuta
    89. I'm sure there are some people with good intentions among Anon but I've seen how alot of them act. Trolling, raiding, vulgar language...

I'm not really buying the whole "for the greater good" thing from Anonymous.

      VastaKustuta
    90. Anonymous might have a few noble members but, much like Lulzsec, most come off as anti-social arrogant jerks taking out their anger at the world from their mom's basement while trying to pass themselves off as White Knights. "Taking down corrupt governments?" Please. And I love how all the news organizations are completely no-selling everything they do.

      VastaKustuta
    91. LINK PLEASE! Where's the full story?

      VastaKustuta
    92. Now I'm proud again to be an Austrian! :3

      VastaKustuta
    93. There's still a difference between vicious and playful....

I think alot of people are reading too much into this.

Anon uses alot of crap in some of their stuff...not sure how this will hurt the "Brony Image". The fact that we have an "image" at all is still incredible in itself and shows much strong the community has become.

      VastaKustuta
    94. That's the link to the full story - it's all in German of course ...

      http://kurier.at/nachrichten/3918815.php

Honestly, I think it's a bit of a shame that the first exposure the Austrian public gets of FiM is Rainbow Dash appearing on a hacked website. Not the best start.

      VastaKustuta
    95. Son, I am appoint.

      VastaKustuta
    96. I watched the whole season of FiM twice, visit equestriadaily every day and I approve of this hack

      VastaKustuta
    97. Yeah its probably not a good idea for us to get associated with anonymous, the press doesn't like us as is and if the hacking stuff starts happening a lot (at least with ponies in them) then Hasbro might not be to lenient towards us anymore. They let us get away with a lot more stuff then most other companies do and its not even because they don't know about us, they do and they love us.

      VastaKustuta
    98. You know, recently anonymous posted nyan cat on one of the sites they hacked. However, this obviously does not mean, nyan cat has anything to do with hacker and it won't be any different here. I say, this was awesome and I especially liked the retweets from ponyboard.de :)

      VastaKustuta
    99. @Meow

And contradictions everything Anonymous and the stereotype 4channer are about.

I will never understand how 4chan and ponies mixed.

      VastaKustuta
    100. Vandalism with ponies isn't vandalism at all. That's what I tell myself when I draw ponies in bathroom stalls.

      VastaKustuta
    101. ITT: Misunderstanding of Anonymous and raeg.

Anon doesn't target random sites (unless it's some Facebook page featuring someone with a bad infection of USI) they target sites that are anti-thesis to how they view the internet. USUALLY, it's sites of organizations that are anti-free speech or pro-control. Anon, usually (do you see a pattern yet?), wants the internet to go back to the wild way it used to be instead of categorized and organized into little chunks of political diatribe and politically correct 'arguments.' That's why they use racist slurs, homophobic hate speak and shock images. These are usually tools to shove an extreme type of free speech into the face of the world. The 'lulz' 'lols' or however the newest iteration of Anon spells it is just a way of measuring how pissed they managed to get the group or person they targeted.

Now, I may agree in theory with their goals. Screw political correctness, control and overzealous laws (inb4 anarchy fail). But, really, I don't necessarily agree with their methods. I'm neither offended nor am I worried that bronies are being targeted here. If the media are stupid enough to associate bronies with Anon, Anon will probably set them straight eventually. So everyone, chill the fuck out. It's not the damn end of Equestria.

Jesus. Overtly serious 14 year olds with a bad case of the trolling heebie jeebies.

      VastaKustuta
    103. I think it's pretty funny. And good publicity for bronies, I say. WE WILL BE TAKEN SERIOUS. (Pinkie Pie voice): So there!

      VastaKustuta
    104. Rainbow Dash just made hacking 20% cooler. And I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

      VastaKustuta
    105. I see the duck XD

      VastaKustuta
    106. Anyone else find it ironic that the same guy who says ponychan and GabuEx takes the show too seriously is sitting here debating?

      VastaKustuta
    107. "Behold! Skull Island!"
      "Hey, wait a minute-"
"The great horrifying skull mountain of Skull Island, how baleful its stare!"
      "It looks like a duck."
"We-well, err, if you...you just need to turn your head a little and squint, and THERE IT IS, the HORRIFYING great skull!"
"Now it looks like a rabbit."
      "Gyagh."

      VastaKustuta
    110. OMG, i saw Rainbow Dash in the austrian television !
They show her in the offical TV news in the maintime, so i think 1 million austrians saw Rainbaw Dash too, awesome ! :D

      VastaKustuta
    111. This isný good press for us
but in the other hand I´m sure that anonymous isn´t a real brony he just took something famous to make this prank anyway I´m sure they don´t gona blame the Brony community they gonna blame anonymous so don´t worry
And even laught a little, theres no harm done

      VastaKustuta
    112. Wow, that makes me unhappy. Criminals should not be using my little ponies.

      VastaKustuta
    113. Am I the only one who thinks this is funny? :\

      VastaKustuta
    114. Harmless crime is harmless. Besides, this will teach em for loosing at Austerlitz!

      VastaKustuta
    115. So, you guys remember that Anonymous invented being a brony, right? The article that started the fandom, the word brony, the reaction images and image macros, all of them are from Anonymous. I mean, I know we've sort of lost control over memes before, but this one only started last october or november; it's a little early to forget that brony used to be /b/rony for a reason. Don't worry about it.

Anyone who is upset about this is clearly a moron. The adult fans of Faust's MLP enjoy a splash of irony with their fandom, not like the assburgerful custom pony peddlers who have been cluttering up parents basements for the past couple decades. Grownups liking this show is kind of funny. WHY SO SERIOUS???

tl;dr - Anonymous invented bronies, getting upset about Anonymous using pony imagery is unbelievably silly.

      VastaKustuta
    116. Oh no. This is bad. I do NOT like this. I'm sorry, but I don't want to be associated with this kind of group. Oh dear this is wrong. Ponies don't break into other pony's websites. It goes against everything we stand for.

      VastaKustuta
    117. Why do you people think that bronies aren't a part of Anon? 4chan's front page ALWAYS has at least two pony threads, and it was m00tikins suggestion that led to ponychan being created. When did MLP fandom stop being ironic? What's wrong with you people?

      VastaKustuta
    118. @previous comment, if you'll notice, 4chan has a tendency to latch onto anything popular, doesn't mean whatever they have threads up of are part of anonymous. I see at least 3 porn threads up on 4chan at all times. Does this mean all people that look at porn are Anonymous? Most likely not.

Another protip, the real Anonymous left 4chan a long time ago.

      VastaKustuta
    119. Uh... Anonymous isn't apart of 4chan. At least anymore (or most of them).

You know if they just admitted that they were hacking for stupid humor I wouldn't be as mad. It's that they make themselves out to be some sort of vigilantes that weed out corruption and crap like that that angers me.

      VastaKustuta
    120. Normally I love to see ponies everywhere, I don't care where they pop up but this might not be a good thing.

Hope it doesn't happen too much, I don't want people to associate bronies with internet crimes and such.

But if it's only a one time thing and won't become a trend then I wouldn't worry much about the brony image.

      VastaKustuta
    121. @GabuEx

Reading up, I see that you took a lot of crap for your post. I'd actually have to say I agree. A person can be stern yet loving, but often have a good check and control on their emotions, and aren't the ones who are lynch mobbing.

Also, to the anons who are justifying this with "Anonymous invented bronies" stuff, all I can say is this:

What you're doing is logical equivalent of saying "Hey, a kid helped his mom across the street. Get over him beating the shit out of his little brother!" I'm sorry, but whether or not someone did something seen as good has no bearing on the acceptability of another action, and to use that line of reasoning to rationalize such behavior is simply logically fallacious.

      VastaKustuta
    122. if not for the saluting hoof in the air, then Scootaloo would WANT to be a chicken to take after her!
      SCOOT-SCOOT-SCOOTALOO!!!!!
      (HuffytheMagicDragon)

      VastaKustuta
    123. @B-Man
Thats a shitty analogy and you should feel bad for it.

      >anons JUSTIFYING this with "Anonymous invented bronies"
Justifying? You actually think we need justification for this? HAH!

Most Anons just seems to teach the summerponies how the fandom originated from 4chan. Not from the Anonymous. 4chan. As everypony seems to be mocking them, even thought its because of them that this fandom grew so big.

      VastaKustuta
    124. lrn yr history summerponies. Anonymous is still 4chan. /b/day took only a small faction of SRSBSNS people off to go invent 7chan and soforth. The heart and soul of anonymous isn't the assorted hacking side projects you goof balls are seeing on the news; it is and always has been 4chan's /b/. And that is where bronydom was born. You are riding on the coattails on the superconciousness called Anonymous; don't fret about it, but don't deny it. And before anypony throws a "rules one and two" at me, please, biddies, this ain't a raid. That's for raids. Get your shit straight.

      VastaKustuta
    125. @B-Man

Oh, it doesn't bother me much (and it was basically crap from only one guy :P), but thanks for the support all the same. :)

      VastaKustuta
    126. @B-Man

Logical fallacy detected. Reductio ad absurdum. Your comparison is invalid. If you want to argue your way out of association between anon and bronies you are going to have to pretend much harder.

      VastaKustuta
    127. this conversation is stupid and you all should feel bad about it

      VastaKustuta
    128. It should be apparent that a lot of people aren't taking in this news well because not everypony is a /b/rony. Pointless convo is still pointless.

      VastaKustuta
    129. @Anonymous

So what you're saying is that you're disappointed with the level of the rhetoric you are seeing on the comments section of the miniature imaginary talking pastel horses web site? Is that what you're saying? Not enough marxist class-struggle debate about the nature of the pony-castes and how they relate to the cows? We'll try to elevate the discourse, chief.

      VastaKustuta
    130. @Anonymous Just stating an obvious fact, bro, since where else is this conversation going? Things getting so serious for everyone much?

Besides... not exactly showing any emotion other than apathy really.

Whatever, sorry to interrupt your civilized discourse about the nature and wisdeom of the universe and all that.

      VastaKustuta
    131. @Anonymous
Absolutely agree. This is NOT the kind of publicity we as bronies should be embracing. We're about love and tolerance, not defacing public objects. Paints a bad picture for people who already look down on us.

      VastaKustuta
    132. Meh... I love Anonymous. I think it's great that a group is out there putting the internet hurt on people and groups and governments that are clearly abusing their power and NOT serving the people they are supposed to represent.

To those saying otherwise, why can't a member of Anonymous be a brony? That's absurd. I can be all for revolution and reformation and openness of the powers that be and still love ponies!

I own a PS3. I fully supported Anonymous' actions against Sony. Sony = Thieves, and they stole something from me (the fastest PC in my house, also known as Other OS). I support their actions against Sony (and they were NOT responsible for the massive outage). I support Anonymous' support of open government. I'm sick of the government taking advantage of the little guy, and lie through their teeth that they still even remotely represent the people.

I'm also cool using my standard username and still saying I LOVE ANONYMOUS!!!

Anonymous just made themselves AT LEAST TWENTY PERCENT COOLER!!!

      yay for Anonydash!!!!

      VastaKustuta
    133. Also, I view DDOS and site cracking like this as an online variant of a picket line or protest. The law provides (at least in the US the right to peaceably assemble, yet the laws have further and further restricted those rights, and ALSO have NOT adapted to include the internet.

Regardless of legality, I see it as a constitutional issue, since the laws have never been remodeled to adapt to the relatively new concept of virtual places.

I view most of the existing government as already being above the law. They do not respect us civilians at all...

Again, that is why I LOVE Anonymous!

      (just to clarify that)

      Dash is awesome saluting Anonymous!!!

      VastaKustuta
    134. @Filiecs

That is stupid. What separates a legal action from an illegal action except for laws created by society? The legality of an action shouldn't ever effect whether you support it or not, if everyone agrees that what is illegal is wrong laws would never change.

      VastaKustuta
    135. Say what you want about anonymous damaging our image with this stunt... I say that website got 20% cooler.

      VastaKustuta
    136. Its great b/c it's Rainbow Dash but at the same time it reflects poorly on a community that has a hard enough time getting good press from major news cooperation.

      VastaKustuta
    137. Everypony needs to CHILL. Love and tolerance, remember? Bronies have evolved a lot since it all began on 4chan, much in the same way that Anonymous has evolved itself away from 4chan as well. We do not have to approve of what they do just because they used Dashie in a hack, and that fact won't affect us unless we allow it to.

That being said, I say the internet gets 20% cooler in 10 seconds flat whenever an image of Dashie is used for any purpose. And hey, Bronies took over the internet last week, remember? We've got nothing to be upset about...we recruit new members all the time. Celestia wants YOU! For LOVE and TOLERANCE!

      VastaKustuta
    138. @Anonymous
I think it's the ''use'' of ponies as ''weapons'' that is the problem...

...this isn't ''Love and Tolerance'' much, I think.

Just thinking. ...what's ''kurier'' anyway ?

      VastaKustuta
    139. i think there have to be Bronies in Anonymous (whatever that is), like one already said, they said "unicorn" to rainbow dash on a famous austrian radio channnel and anonymus corrected them! they even made an excuse for that on twitter! And when youre stil not confinced:
Anonymus hacked another spö side, this time with that:
      http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/7909/anonunbenannt.png
the video is nyan cat rainbow dash!

P.S: im really glad Anonymus made that and i hope that will help to spread Ponys in Austria, especially in Vienna!

P.S.S: im glad to see at least some ponies from austria in this thread

      VastaKustuta
    140. Hmm... I always wanted the bronies to be a professional group of hackers..
