Remember that
3D Pony download pack from yesterday? Knighty took them and set them up in his personal graphics engine (yes, he has his own self built graphics engine, I 0_o'd too.) This is a good example of what these models can do! Pretty awesome!
Oh, and he is apparently a fan of Dashiepie. That makes him a badass in my book.
You can find a video of the renders after the break! Now someone hurry up and animate these for source!

Dashie Pie? meh.
ReplyDeleteFlutterdash is more for me.

ReplyDeleteShinny eyes, very shinny eyes.
ReplyDeleteI can haz My Little Portal 2? :3
ReplyDeleteHoly crap at the shadows... O_O That is impressive.
ReplyDeleteThis dude is awesome!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me while I go pick my jaw up off the floor. I know it's around here somewhere?
ReplyDeleteHNNNNNGGGG
ReplyDeleteI was like "holy fuck that's awesome" well because it is, the power of MLP fandom lol.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Neutron dialogue with pony visuals, must-have.
ReplyDeletewill someone please make these ponies for gmod(and maybe an equestria too).
ReplyDelete"What'd you do today, son?"
ReplyDelete"I wrote a graphics engine. For Ponies!"
Geez. We get a full 3D rendering for all these ponies, and the first thing that happens is picturing a shipping.
ReplyDeleteFanbase, I am disappoint.
This is actually really awesome though.

NOBODY MOVE!
ReplyDelete...
I dropped my jaw.
Oh, there it is. *CRACK* Ow.
So, yes. Um... Simply fan-tucking-fabulous. After someone rigs these for Source, someone will thereafter need to make an MLP Source game.
Because we can NEVER have enough Pony games. Ever.
'Tis very, very awesome. But they look so lifeless just standing there, all in the same pose. Eager to see an animation. *crosses fingers*
ReplyDeleteAll of my money...take it.. this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteC'mon, Pixar. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: The Movie. Make it happen.
ReplyDeleteI applaud you sir!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely really impressive.
ReplyDeleteBut the ponies just standing there... doing nothing... staring... is unsettling to me. It reminded me of the Elegy of Emptiness kind of.
Knighty has another Youtube account (also showing the knightengine as its called) @ http://www.youtube.com/user/knighty
ReplyDeleteI was also able to find this Facepunch page on the engine:

Simply mesmerizing. I really do hope a few of the toys and other merchandise products will eventually reflect the style of the show as well as all these 3D renders do. Props to all of you who create them, seriously!
ReplyDelete>yfw you will never make your own graphics engine.
ReplyDeleteFeels bad man.
That's fuckin' awesome though. Hope he does something with it.
Wow that's awesome. The Dashipie picture makes them look cell shaded. It's a really cool look for them if they stayed like that.
ReplyDeleteThats GREAT. Amazing. Awesome. 20% cooler, even.
ReplyDeleteBut didn't they seem a bit small in comparison to their environment? I might just be insane though.
CARRY ON THEN!
@Sun Raytwidash>appledash
ReplyDeleteI'm jelly. you just made 3D design 20% cooler.
ReplyDeleteI demand Gmod models.
ReplyDelete3D FAN VIDEOS, NOW!
ReplyDeleteFlutterpie > anythingdash
ReplyDeleteExcuse me while I do a fanDash squeal:

If Hasbro followed this example, the toys they would make would be gifts from pony heaven. I know it is difficult to make toys off of such stylized cartoon characters, but if people can make such amazing 3-D models, then gosh darn it Hasbro can make it in real life!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job!
I will say that I love how these models look. However, the fact that they almost human lips just creeps me out.
ReplyDelete:o thanks Seth.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks everyone for the comments.
There's a bunch more renders in here:

@Anonymous I hope someone does PONY GMOD VIDS =D
ReplyDeleteD4SHTH3R4INB0W
His own graphics engine? Wow.
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with UE3 thank you very much. Still need to learn how to use it, though. But if I can remember, I'll see if I can export these into the engine. OOH, even add 'em into UT. Now that would be EPIC!
I would be SO OVER animating those!!! Sadly, my macbook's graphic card is seriously pathetic and can't run Maya or XSI :( It probably COULD but my machine would probably implode if it tried.
ReplyDeleteSorry guys :(( Maybe if I get my hands on a friend's (or job's lol) computer that can run it I'll play around with these!
You have NO IDEA how hard it is knowing I CAN animate these.... but I can't :(((((((((
Ok seriously, if I was Lauren Faust, I would fund the crap out of that guy. Seriously, why is he not working for an animation studio? or IS he?
ReplyDeleteI was trying to to an animation earlier today, but after I saw that the body was all one piece, and I would have to separate the legs and joints and whatnot, I came here to procrastinate.
ReplyDeleteWHOOooo! WHOOooo! WHOOooo!
ReplyDeleteAlso, pretty pretty shiny~
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why graphics programs now come with skeleton tools.
Maya has joins, even Flash has joints. Pretty sure Max has joints, too.
As cool as this is, it will be more epic to see a video vith them moving arond doing things.
ReplyDeleteI am SO redownloading UDK, prepare to shit brains.
ReplyDeleteMy mind is now blown across the ceiling...
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome, my mind is blown ten hundered miles away.
ReplyDeleteTime to learn how to do this awesome... stuff.
The hair looks kind of plastic, but that's to be expected. The models would take forever to render with individual hairs.
ReplyDeleteAlso, cell shading would make these look awesome.
Excellent job. Amazing collaboration.
