Oh my goodness that is too cute. Her little boots. HER LITTLE DARLING YELLOW BOOTS. And the saddle is all fluffy and the teeny pink scarf and she looks all ready to go out and wrap up winter and aaaaaaahhhhh *squeals*
How did you made her mane and tail so PERFECT? I try slowly to make my little Twilight out of her official Toy, but I am afraid of screwing her (*I know how its sounds, hehe*), and the official Twilight have way to long mane and tail.
@fireant Basically a pair of sisscors and a thing called a boil perm. The long and short of it is pre-dipping the hair in boiling water several times, then redipping after every couple bobby pins/other hair styling accessory. I adapted from this excellent guide: http://www.mlptp.net/forums/faq.php?faq=4_0#faq_4_8
The 2nd picture featured is actually only my 2nd boil perm too. I required a 3rd to get what you see. Here's a picture of my final configuration: http://no-contest.shorturl.com/mlpfim_wwu_twilight_boilperm3.jpg
@Kujiiro Yea, she does only wear it in the opening, but I thought it was such a cute outfit and a shame she didn't use it for the rest of the episode.
And thank you, everbody (or everypony if you prefer), this is my first time customizing a pony, so your enthusiasm really means a lot to me. :D
@Anonymous Nope, I didn't paint or dye anything on the pony itself (I've been this is ill advised because synthetic hair can react strangely to hair dyes). I just had a little bit of luck with the boil perm and the camera angles. The way the hair fell with the bangs caused a bunch of the pink to get kind of absorbed so that it's hidden. Likewise with the longer part of th emane, as that part is actually a large purple streak surrounded on both sides by equally wide streaks of pink, but the pink closest to her body happens to fall in such a way that the purple part and the saddle blocks it from view.
Technically the toy's mane is entirely wrong anyway, though, since Twilight's mane is a really dark blue with a purple streak and a pink streak. Due to the aforementioned issues with dying, the best way to fix it would probably be to replace the hair entirely.

That's adorable lol, I love her little boots
ReplyDeleteSo I assume image 2 is the hairstyling process, not something, uh, freakier.
ReplyDelete@anon, boil-perms are hard...
ReplyDeleteThat saddle is adorable!

ReplyDeleteUhh. *ahem* Um.
I mean, it's nice I guess.
@Sun Ray
ReplyDeletePfft, I live with 5 people who hate stuff like this and I still bought the Ponies.
You shouldn't not buy something just cause others won't like it. Its your stuff, you shouldn't care what they think.
@Sun Ray
ReplyDeleteScrew living alone, I'd buy this anyway.
HER LITTLE BOOTS ARE SO CUTE AHH
ReplyDeleteDidn't she only wear these once, before the opening credits? XD
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see her in her team coordinator vest.

ReplyDeleteDear Hasbro,
If you release something like this I will buy it. That is a promise.
This is so cute!
ReplyDeleteDaawTime.
I love how you made the hair of Twilight better.
Have you also painted it? The normal figure comes with to much pink and to less purple in it.

While Kuroi was in the boil perm process, I told him to buy a Fluttershy to stare master Twilight's hair into behaving properly! XD
