Looks like our favorite little equines are officially heading to Europe. The Boomerang channel will be starting up season one on July 4th. The commercial can be found below!
Waaaaaaiiit....Only, Just Only, on that particular channel which plays all the classics such as Top Cat, The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Tom N Jerry, Sheep in the Big City IN GLORIOUS ENGLISH!!! known as ''Boomerang''?!
Not that i'm complaining i'd hate to see the dubs in my country, which would suck dick,
But why exactly on the only god damn channel which i don't have, and my grandparents have!? ಠ_ಠ...some personality in me is ok, the other is freaking amazed with it(finally) while the other one is...well let this video express it's feelings for this
Here in the states at least, Boomerang is cable channel where Cartoon Network retires all of it's older cartoon shows. It mostly features a library of the old Hana-Barbara cartoons but it's been slowly getting the cartoons from the 90's Cartoon Cartoon line-up.
Don't know what the channel is over in the UK (since the announcer had the tell tale accent) but I would imagine it's the same thing.
Good morning. In less than an hour, ponies from here will join others in Europe. And you will be launching the largest pony battle in this history of ponykind.
Ponykind--that word should have new meaning for all of us today.
We can't be consumed by "which pony would we pet"--our PETty differences--anymore.
We will be united in our common interests.
Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution--but from Nightmare Moon.
We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.
And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:
Hm, finally it comes to EU officially. I am from central Europe (Slovakia to be more precise) and i hope, it will not be translated into our language (Translation sucks, all punchlines will be totally remade and in the end it will not make sense at all...)
But i hope, that they will start selling merchandise from FiM. Few days ago, i tried to find some ponies, but we are still stuck wit generation 3.5...
Do I understand it right that Boomerang is a Pay-TV channel? God, I hope that they air it on Free-TV once they translate it to German and bring it over here.
Not that I don't know that the German dubbing will be horrible (at least compared to the original voices) but I at least want to hear HOW horrible it is. That, and flipping through the TV guide and seeing "My Little Pony" (with or without subtitle) will probably trigger a happiness in me, regardless of the quality of the dub. Also, when they release the series here, they're probably gonna release the toys too.
But hey, I have the entire season on my PC and I'll eventually find a way to convert them to a format my Xbox can play so I can watch them on my TV.
MLP will also be broadcast in Italy in late 2011. I am Italian, so I can say for sure. I'm really curious to see the dubbing, but I guess the original will remain the best. Man, i love Mlp: Fis!
Well, it is obvious that a re dubbing will never be able to match an original dubbing(it's a very rare thing); still i will look for the result, just like Walter44 said.
Half way through the ad I was reminded of the following quote:
"Power-running, Power-lifting, Power-sleeping, Power-dating, Power-eating, Power-laughing, Power-spawning, Babies! You'll have so many babies! 400 BABIES!!!"
It was awesome
Oh, how I miss the generic female announcer voice on UK television. It's been three years and it sounds oddly comforting, despite the fact I hated adverts (and still do, but now it is specifically American adverts)
I'm ashamed of my people, the Dutch(maybe Belgium because the company that makes the dub is there). Because our dub is horrible. The only voice they got kinda right was Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash's voice makes me want to cry.
I have now words to describe how awesome this is. Only Celestia, in all her wisdom, would pick the ONE channel that is not going to dub the show into Dutch.
Excuse me, I have to run around deliriously and insanely happy for a week or two.
You know, If I didn't already have all the episodes on my computer and watched them all from start to finish 4 times, at least, I'd almost wish I had boomerang to watch it on....
I'm just trying to imagine how a British dub would even work? We've been sounding more and more American from all your TV anyway, either you play on the British Stereotype and no one watches it because the British Stereotype sounds annoying to us or you make it sound American but not quite and I've no idea where you'd find a replacement for Apple Jack in England...
Rainbow Dash would probably end up a scouser. Rarity would sound French (more French than she currently does). Twilight would have to be Steven Fry.
@Mooke Applejack could have a very thick northern or welsh accent. Thats the closest the British have to a American southern accent. As for Fluttershy, I can't think of anything. A sort of posh butler is the only thing I can think of and even that doesn't really work.
Dude, its not going to be re dubbed into British accents... 1. I have never seen it been done before from all Us shows we get here. 2. It would be a waste of time and money 3. It would be entirely pointless since im pretty sure that no-pony is stupid enough to not understand / know the differences in U.S and British since there are hardly any anyway.... so explain why we're discussing this please.. :s
@Rainbow Derpy For the sake of a discussion, I think. I'm well aware that it would be pointless but I have heard of cases where British material has been changed when the show reaches America.
Speaking of which, I'm not even sure that there is any company in england that does dubbing. I've never heard of a an English company dubbing anime.
Because it's fun! So, UK Male MLP Cast includes; Twilight: Steven Fry, indeed Fluttershy: Rainbow Dash: Pinkie Pie: Steven Merchant (shudder) Rarity: Applejack: Jethro Mayor Mare: Terry Wogan Derpy Hooves: Rowan Atkinson Steven Magnet: Graham Norton
I saw the advert just a moment ago and Pinkie Pie's lines were definitely the original actor - if they were redubbing the show they probably would have used the new actor's lines.
I saw this advert a few days ago and now await the arrival of the ponies with mixed feelings one hand, PONIES YAY! One the other, people might start to recognise my cutie mark pin badges and understand what I’ve been drawing for the past 20+ days.
Also I didn’t realise there were so many UK/EU Bronies, good to know I’m not alone.
Anyway, I envy both the US and UK signals of Boomerang as they stay true to showing good quality cartoons.
The Latin American Boomerang has been all but destroyed and they only show pre-teen Mexican novelas, sucky movies, and all they show of cartoons is stuff CN stopped showing like 4 years ago really late at night or really early in the morning
For those who are questioning if it is worth the effort to watch the shows on TV after you've seen them all through streams/YouTube, I can definitively answer YES! I got to house sit for my parents a couple of weeks ago, and thankfully my parents have a large enough cable channel package that The Hub was available to watch.
There really is something so much better being able to watch it on a screen larger than my computer monitor, and from several feet away instead of as close as I am while sitting at my computer desk.
Just remember to have the remote close by so you can mute those commercials.
First the US, then THE WORLD!! pretty soon the Japanese will start to take notice and they might do a MLP FiM Z like they did to powerpuff... and then the Japanese would make FiM merchandise that's, well, not for kids in the least. I hope CN or Nick or Disney Channel picks up FiM for the Fillyphines (Philippines -- and yes, it's a country)!

Also,
Dat British Announcer with Dat Alliteration.
so many pretty, powerful, peaceful, party, impressive, punchy(?) ponies.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why its just called MLP?
ReplyDeleteMainly
ReplyDeleteBoomerang channel is in Spain too, i hope they will dub ponies in all languages!
They said starting soon so it hasn't aired yet in Europe or just that channel?
ReplyDeleteFriendship isn't magic?
ReplyDeleteJuly 4th? Happy independence day Britain! (There's a better way to make that a joke, but I'm not that good.)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the herd, Your Majesty.
ReplyDeleteand so our invasion of Europe has begun...
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile in Europe...
ReplyDeleteBoomerang just got 20% cooler
@Roman500
ReplyDeleteNo, the show does not currently air in Europe.
i think they're trying their best to appeal to younger audiences, but the show still finds its way to an adult demographic.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY
ReplyDelete>peuny
ReplyDeleteWhat is boomerang?
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it.
I probably won't watch it in TV though :P
I am not that far yet.
OMFG buy a tripod, they're like $15 down at best buy!

I'll be looking forward to a new infusion of Euro-bronies starting after Independence Day.
ReplyDeleteI like the way the British announcer says the word pony.
ReplyDeleteI think this calls for some 60s Mod ponies.
ReplyDeleteDat accent
ReplyDelete@Ten_Tacles

Did they call Dash a "Pudgy Pony"??!! *starts doning riot gear* "It's okay, Dashie, they didn't mean it. It is only a commercial, really."
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Virga Rainboom
ReplyDeleteNo, "punchy". I guess it's like spunky or something?
Lol, My Little Pøni.
ReplyDeleteLove the way she says pony!
I'm starting to think there's some sort of horse-related subtext to this show
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWTF is a best buy? I just wanted to record it quick on my iPhone to share with you guys, jeez.
SO HAPPY!
ReplyDeleteFinally the merchandise will start rolling in!!
*Sets Sky to record!!*
@scraleos
ReplyDeleteHopefully some other UK'er will be able to properly record the commercial. Did it just start airing today?
Every kind of pouny! Hehe...
ReplyDeletePony pony pony pony pony pony pony pony pony
ReplyDeleteMy head is full of pony !!!
Anyways, hurray !!! I feel like playing Risk now, time to take over Europe !
SO MUCH PONI!
ReplyDelete@BluMeino
ReplyDeleteI think so. There was a topic on it on the MLPArena so I sat there and watched crappy shows on Boomerang for like 2 hours until it came on.
Why is it on Boomerang and not on Cartoon Network itself?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. Did you mean ponies?
ReplyDelete*Watchs advert*
ReplyDelete"July 4th"
SUDDENLY: Pants are tight, joy has hit 120%.
Now... just gotta find a way to get everyone OUT THE HOUSE so I can watch it.
For the first time ever, July 4 was celebrated in the UK.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteChallenge accepted!

"We will not go whining into the night!
Green will not be our color without a fight!
We're going to watch on!
We're going to love and tolerate!"
Today, we celebrate our Indepony Day!
Hm, finally it comes to EU officially. I am from central Europe (Slovakia to be more precise) and i hope, it will not be translated into our language (Translation sucks, all punchlines will be totally remade and in the end it will not make sense at all...)
ReplyDeleteBut i hope, that they will start selling merchandise from FiM. Few days ago, i tried to find some ponies, but we are still stuck wit generation 3.5...
They're getting it on Boomerang? Those lucky ducks.
ReplyDeleteSO MUCH PONY
ReplyDeletePONY!!!
Yay! Congrats, Eurobronies!
ReplyDeleteI think Euro Boomerang is different than US Boomerang. I don't think the Euro Boomerang is Cartoon Network's throwback channel like it is in America.
ReplyDeleteDo I understand it right that Boomerang is a Pay-TV channel? God, I hope that they air it on Free-TV once they translate it to German and bring it over here.

ReplyDeleteMan, i love Mlp: Fis!
I don't want this wonderful series to come to my land (germany).
ReplyDeleteI just know they will butcher all the jokes and give them really crappy voices.
It's like the Pony Core or something.
ReplyDeletePony pony pony pony pony pony pony pony pony pony pony. Hey, hey lady. What's your favorite thing about pony? Mine's pony. Pony, pony pony. Pony, PONY! PONYYYYYY! Where we going? We going to Ponyville?
Dammit, I swore I wouldn't make any more Portal 2 jokes!
And the herd is officially spread!
ReplyDeleteRejoice!
Once again...this is how i'll react if i ever see the dubs(shitty ones)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPg2p8OehPI
@ToonNinja
ReplyDeleteI laughed. Thank you. Also: POOOOOONNNNNNNYYY! SPACE! PONIES IN SPACE!
BluMeino
ReplyDeleteThis times ten thousand, please.
Well, it is obvious that a re dubbing will never be able to match an original dubbing(it's a very rare thing); still i will look for the result, just like Walter44 said.
ReplyDeleteIf they have accents, I'll definitely want to watch the Brit Version.
ReplyDeleteNeeds a bit more pony
ReplyDeleteVery glad to see they decided not to re-dub the show to more "English/British" tone.
ReplyDeleteNow I just need to subscribe to Sky.
Half way through the ad I was reminded of the following quote:
ReplyDelete"Power-running, Power-lifting, Power-sleeping, Power-dating, Power-eating, Power-laughing, Power-spawning, Babies! You'll have so many babies! 400 BABIES!!!"
It was awesome
Oh, how I miss the generic female announcer voice on UK television. It's been three years and it sounds oddly comforting, despite the fact I hated adverts (and still do, but now it is specifically American adverts)
AAAAAHHHH omgomgomgomgomg It's gonna be SO AWESOME!!
ReplyDeletewoooooo finally :D
ReplyDeleteI liked ponies before anypony
ReplyDeleteThey genuinely couldn't make a more annoying commercial... I hate that accent.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I want to facepalm so bad, the only upside is that it means we'll be getting full quality FiM (and we have that channel too).
One thing though, I'm sure that it won't be in HD, I don't think Boomerang broadcasts in HD.
ReplyDeleteAnyone catch what kind of animals will be appearing in this cartoon?
ReplyDeleteTerrible ad is terrible. On the bright side, this means the toys can't be that far behind, right?
ReplyDelete@Dionysus
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain, I live in the Netherlands.
Dutch is even worse than German.
Blimey that was awful.
ReplyDeleteGood lord...I'm pretty sure they get the fact that they're ponies by the 10th second....
ReplyDelete@Recamen
ReplyDeleteYou, sir, win a thousand internets.
I need to see Japanese poniesuuuuuuu XD Hurry Japan, pick up this show!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteA Pony once bit my sister.
OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!
ReplyDelete@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteManticors and Griffions and Ursa... Oh my.
That's actually not that bad of a commercial. I'm surprised.
ReplyDelete@Calico
ReplyDeleteYeah they made up that word for the advertisment. They couldn't use spunky, it means... something else.
Yay, finally, some official ponies in the Kindom!
ReplyDeleteGOD SAVE THE PONIES
ReplyDeleteThe ad wasn't that bad, guys. >_>
ReplyDeleteThis is cool news indeed, and although the sound quality was off, it was fun to watch.
@Springtime Blues
ReplyDeleteActually, You'll find that they use terms like Spunk a lot over in ol' blighty, obviously with the original meaning however.
"I like that girl, She's got Spunk"
maby we will convert the queen
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYeah... It does mean that, it also mean semen. You wouldn't say that on air.
PÖUNI
ReplyDeleteI wonder when the pony shall invade Asia?
ReplyDeletecan't hear S#!t captain!
ReplyDeleteHow disappointing. I was expecting more pony.
ReplyDeleteand so total ponydom begins...... everything is going as planned
ReplyDelete>play video
ReplyDelete>ludicrous British accent
>rainbowdashlaughing.avi
Hearing this, all I could think of was Veruca Salt saying, "Dahdaee, Oy wont anutha pouny."
ReplyDeleteHEY, RAINBOWDASH IS NOT PUDGY!
ReplyDeleteIt's lots and lots of ponies! We've got new ponies, old ponies, fast ponies, slow ponies, smokin' ponies, even ponies that blow through snow!
ReplyDeleteSo many kinds of ponies!
ReplyDelete@Recamen
ReplyDeleteYeah. Totally wasn't about to do exactly that.
Well-played, sir.
I'm ashamed of my people, the Dutch(maybe Belgium because the company that makes the dub is there). Because our dub is horrible. The only voice they got kinda right was Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash's voice makes me want to cry.
ReplyDelete@Toty
ReplyDeleteWhat? Since when? Why haven't I see anything of this before?
Also we should go back to using subtitles. I can't stand all this dubbing he have. I grew up with watching show with subtitles.
Wow,looks like now I have a reason to store Boomerang on my TV
ReplyDeleteThis is...
ReplyDeleteI have now words to describe how awesome this is. Only Celestia, in all her wisdom, would pick the ONE channel that is not going to dub the show into Dutch.
Excuse me, I have to run around deliriously and insanely happy for a week or two.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS
ReplyDeleteThat will do Hasbro, that will do...
ReplyDeleteThough... gief Dutch ponies? Pwetty pwetty pwease?
Peaceful ponies! Pretty ponies! Powerful ponies!
ReplyDeleteMORE PONIES THAN YOUR BODY HAS ROOM FOR!
I can't wait for any informations about Polish Ponies.
ReplyDeleteI will be determined to watch this. Somehow.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash suffers in a corner to represent me knowing they'll dub it to Swedish soon from this point, and how much it'll probably ravage the show.
ReplyDelete11 days to go!
ReplyDeleteI welcome the invasion of my beloved home, Blighty!
Independance day shall be spent being dependant on ponies!
"Hey dad, Remember when you said that we could get more stations for the digi-box if I paid for them?"
ReplyDelete"Just as long as you don't buy porn."
"I know, I know. I just want to get Boomerang."
"...Wait, the station that shows the old Scooby Doo cartoons? Why would you want to spend money on that?"
"No reason. I just like old cartoons."
"You just keep getting stranger and stranger, don't you?"
"You don't even know the half of it."
It would be so awesome to watch this show on a British dub. "Punchy" indeed, haha.
ReplyDeleteCool news but anyone can just watch them worldwide on Youtube anyway...
ReplyDeleteRemember when Boomerang was only about showing great old cartoons? And Cartoon Network wasn't Nickelodeon 2.0? Good times.
ReplyDeleteYou know, If I didn't already have all the episodes on my computer and watched them all from start to finish 4 times, at least, I'd almost wish I had boomerang to watch it on....

Twilight would have to be Steven Fry.
No, I've got nothing on the other 2.
@Mooke
ReplyDeleteApplejack could have a very thick northern or welsh accent. Thats the closest the British have to a American southern accent. As for Fluttershy, I can't think of anything. A sort of posh butler is the only thing I can think of and even that doesn't really work.

so explain why we're discussing this please.. :s
@Rainbow Derpy
ReplyDeleteFor the sake of a discussion, I think. I'm well aware that it would be pointless but I have heard of cases where British material has been changed when the show reaches America.
Speaking of which, I'm not even sure that there is any company in england that does dubbing. I've never heard of a an English company dubbing anime.
Because it's fun!
ReplyDeleteSo, UK Male MLP Cast includes;
Twilight: Steven Fry, indeed
Fluttershy:
Rainbow Dash:
Pinkie Pie: Steven Merchant (shudder)
Rarity:
Applejack: Jethro
Mayor Mare: Terry Wogan
Derpy Hooves: Rowan Atkinson
Steven Magnet: Graham Norton
I saw the advert just a moment ago and Pinkie Pie's lines were definitely the original actor - if they were redubbing the show they probably would have used the new actor's lines.
ReplyDelete@Ten_Tacles Cartoon Network's sister station for older cartoons
ReplyDelete*GASP*
ReplyDeleteIsn't this exiting? Are you excited, 'cause I'm excited, I've never been so excited, well except...nah, I've never been so excited!
America shall have Independence Day. We shall have Pony day. It will be spiffing!
... and there's pony ponies, pony pony ponies, pony ponies with a side of pony, pony ponies pony ponyponyponyponyponies pony-pony. Pony.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, finally. i'm fed up with watching low quality videos of it on youtube!
ReplyDeleteSorry- I didn't catch that, what's this cartoon about again?
ReplyDeleteMale UK cast!????? Ok....
ReplyDeleteTwilight: Steven Fry
Fluttershy: Gerard Butler (for the lulz)
Rainbow Dash: Christian fucking Bale
Pinkie Pie: Eddie Izzard
Rarity: Jeremy Irons (only guy with a voice sexy enough)
Applejack: Hugh Laurie (comedy? check, acting chops? check, accents? check)
Princess Celestia: Sir Patrick Stewart
TG&P Trixie: Russell Brand (yeah I kinda hate him too but you know he'd be perfect)
Pfft, I was a brony in the UK before it was even announced it would be coming over here.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm still amazed at how much you yanks gasm when hearing our accents. It's funny and creepy at the same time...
@Recamen
ReplyDelete+10 internets
@Recamen

@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWe don't dub over American accents. Americans, however, have been known to do so with British cartoons.
@Firleycat Nah, Applejack would have a west country accent, since she's a farmer and all.
ReplyDeleteAlso, confound these ponies, they drive me to buy a Sky box!
I saw this advert a few days ago and now await the arrival of the ponies with mixed feelings one hand, PONIES YAY! One the other, people might start to recognise my cutie mark pin badges and understand what I’ve been drawing for the past 20+ days.

YAAAAAAAAAAAY!
ReplyDeleteWait... I'm a closet brony... and I don't have Boomerang on my tv...
Crud...
PONY PONY PONY PONY. with british accent. I lol'd hard :D
ReplyDeleteRarity with an English acceent.
ReplyDeleteHNNNNNGGG!!!
Anyway, I envy both the US and UK signals of Boomerang as they stay true to showing good quality cartoons.

FML.
The british accsent can make things sound a little weird but this is good news...at least theres a date now.
ReplyDeleteExcusee me while I set up my DVR
For those who are questioning if it is worth the effort to watch the shows on TV after you've seen them all through streams/YouTube, I can definitively answer YES! ReplyDeleteIt's that ONE announcer that I've heard everywhere. And I mean absolutely everywhere. It seems ALL OF OUR WOMEN SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME.
ReplyDelete
