Seventh comment, yay!
ReplyDelete(because I am not mainstream enough to post 'first!')
Who else but Trollestia?
ReplyDeleteFIRST!!!, wait, AH SHIT TO LATE
ReplyDeleteAnd this folks is why you always ALWAYS keep a copy of your tax forms on hand.
ReplyDeleteI... wanted to like this. I really did. The concept is great. But, something about the execution just seems off. I think that it was too quickly paced for my tastes. I'm also not a big fan of Celestia's characterization in this fic.
ReplyDelete"Cutie Mark Crusader Accountants! YAY!" made me laugh, though.
Why would anypony even WANT a cutie mark for eating cat food?? And what would it even look like??
ReplyDeleteUh... Random. Yes. Very much so. Not that funny honestly, but ridiculous. The best part was probably "Cutie Mark Accountants!"
ReplyDeleteDamn... That must be SOME hat.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, it's definitely random, and the "Cutie Mark Crusader Accountants" was spot on.
Dangit she's back to the bunker i go....NNOO PLEASE DON'T NNNOO...ok here you go *runs out the door* MUHAHAHAHA (Huge explosion in the background)
ReplyDeleteCelestia laughs in the face of due process.
ReplyDeleteFound a typo in this, but I enjoyed this all the way.
ReplyDeletehilarious! but why couldn't Rarity post bail?
ReplyDeleteOh my God, this was awesome. Go Trollestia!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's definitely some Trollestia right there.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised, though; I was expecting Rarity to choose the moon over the Blueblood date. XD
Anyway, good one.
@B. Yeah, i'm with you, Bitchy Celestia, or Trollestia or whatever isn't very funny, she's just, well, a bitch.
ReplyDeleteStill, totally worth it for "Cutie Mark Crusader Accountants Yay!"
It would seem to me that Rarity was getting her just deserts this time! Really, she should have been just a little more flexible! A hat for a pardon? She spent Celie's money to buy it, so it's already Celie's. Take the deal, you silly filly!
ReplyDeleteHehe, kinda reminds me of that Seinfeld episode with the mink hat. But yeah, funny story.
ReplyDeleteI never believed I'd say this but.. I think your trollestia is TOO trolltastic to be believable. I actually don't like her, and making me not like Celestia is a feat.
ReplyDeleteNot one to be proud of, though.
Cute story, bro. I felt the pacing was a bit fast in places, but it was spot on for the prison scene. It was a nice read before bed.
ReplyDeleteI too tried to like this, but I just couldn't. If the Random element was toned down a bit and some of the scenes were developed more, I think this could have been a real riot. But as it is it relies too heavily on how "wacky" it is to carry the comedy element. Which may have been the point, but it rubs me the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteCelestia in this also bothered me. Nothing she did really made me think "Trollestia" so much as it made me think "Celestia is kinda being a massive bitch."
I wasn't expecting Celestia to be so...mean.
ReplyDeleteI liked it quite a bit; the quick, almost frantic pacing was a nice change from the usual, and the blown up characterizations matched that pace to a tee. It felt almost pythonesque, actually. Not for everyone, to be sure, but I had a riot.
ReplyDeleteNot very good, not very funny. Celestia's characterization is just terrible. Threatening to send Rarity to the moon over a hat? Plus, I think Rarity could have done a better job on her own hat.
ReplyDeleteOr alternatively, she could have just given the hat to Celestia, and made her own.
Like the rest said. CMC accountants was funny, but Celestia's characterization was bitchy. Wasn't Trollestia, was Bitchlestia. No fun there.
ReplyDeleteRarity was also a little upsetting. Isn't she the element of Generosity? I'd think she'd be willing to give up a simple hat. Even one so expensive, if it meant her freedom...
There were things I liked, and things I didn't that much. I'll do the bad ones first.
ReplyDeleteAs someone above said, this wasn't so much "Trollestia" as "Certain Stuck-up b*tch Who Happens to Rule All of Equestria." It feels... off. Even for Trollestia(and I generally don't like portraying Celestia that way anyway), that was more plain "mean" than "pranky." There are also some slight logic holes, but that is more forgivable since this *is* a ponyfic.
Onto the good:
"something about a cordless urban bungee jumping accident" -bit was hilarious. As were the Cutie Mark Crusaders(how is it that those are the characters just about everyone seems to get nailed perfectly?)
I also giggled a bit about Rarity's whining here and there.
Funny buy also kinda meh in places. Though it gets 4 stars alone for the "CMC Accountants" and "cordless bungi jumping accident"- man looks like Blueblood is krytonite to all things feminene.
ReplyDeleteI'll chime in with the 'I wanted to like it mode than I did' crowd. Just seemed a little too...slapdash, I suppose?
ReplyDeleteOf course, how bad is it that my biggest gripe is 'you get thrown into Equestrian jail for screwing up your tax return?' Any lawyer (Philomena Wright, maybe?) worth her bits would've been able to get Rarity off the hook. Easy.
This is, of course, my own reading of the legal system of a land of magical ponies in a kids TV show.
...this is what ED is for, isn't it?
At least, uh, that's
Well, if she's really the troll everyone claims then she probably set the whole thing up in advance just to get her nephew a date.
ReplyDeleteLOL Trollestia'd. I approve.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I thought it was awesome. "Something about a cordless urban bungee jumping accident..."
Five stars. *brohoof*
I don't wanna be harsh, but I gotta be honest..
ReplyDeleteThe reason the humor of the series works so well is that it is based on a love of the characters. This also goes for good fanfics and parodies. Even Trollestia, psycho pinkie and serial womanizer Dash are funny when they are based on the real characters in a positive way. We laugh at their foibles and idiosyncrasies, we don't laugh at the characters for being stupid losers.
This story seems to be based on a parody of Celestia which shows her not as a clever, funny prankster, but simply a bitch. I couldn't laugh at it.
This wasn't funny at all, tbh. Celestia and Rarity were both characterized poorly.
ReplyDeleteSweetie Belle jonesing for cat food is about the funniest thing ever. WHY DOES SHE EAT CAT FOOD. And then I got to, "You could even take Sweetie Belle." I lost it, right there.
ReplyDeleteThis admittedly has some flaws -- it moves too fast, just about everyone is out of character -- but I didn't enjoy it any less. It's a really funny story. (I most likely just enjoy Rarity having a hard time.)
It was okay. 4 stars. Though the Cutie Mark Crusader Accountants was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe cat food scenes were classic, loved them, same goes for the CMCA bit. Other then that, I couldn't get into it. Also, why the big deal about Rarity being naked in the shower, isn't she usually naked?
ReplyDeleteI'm positive the best line was "then Opal scratched Sweetie Belle on her flank, which Sweetie Belle thought was her Cutie Mark for the next two weeks". I'm pretty sure I peed myself
ReplyDeleteRepeatedly bludgeoning my keyboard with my face is probably not good for my laptop, eh?
ReplyDeleteDammit, so what is I'm Canadian... ^
i thought it was a scream. dumb-a$$ Sweetie Bell is always win. cat food stuff was gold, though i think Rarity would have chosen the moon over Blueblood
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I found nothing funny about this story at all, and the scenes flew by so fast it was a little hard to tell what was going on sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really like it. There were a couple of funny bits, but they weren't enough to salvage the story.
ReplyDeleteI must admit, though, I was honestly expecting Rarity to opt for spending a year on the moon over the date with Blueblood.
"cordless urban bungee jumping"
ReplyDeletewin.
42nd comment.
ReplyDeleteNow excuse me while I start reading this fic.
the story was just perfect, not big enough for the 'perfect' to be super-amazing, but perfect as a short, humerus story to lighten up my day
ReplyDelete"YOU ABOUT TO GO BANNANAS? TO THE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..."
