    2. Wow, this could work as an episode, and I don't even like shipping. Good work, keep it up, but maybe write something other than shipping next time :)

    3. I'm assuming that 'conscious' on the 5th line of second paragraph is supposed to be 'conscience'. TALK ABOUT PROOF-READING.

    4. Spike and Rarity date is going to happen eventually. I'll eat the shirt off my back if it doesn't happen.

But it was nice, worked out well as a pseudo-episodic format. But I feel as if it could've been expanded a touch more...not sure how, though.

    5. Well, I've finally read my first complete mlp fanfiction - and a shipping one at that (kind of anyway).

I don't know how this compares with the rest of them, but I quite enjoyed this one.

    7. aww. that was so sweet and sad. great job!
I usually dont like shipping stories, but this one was very well written. not boring nor too much shipping. Interrobang Pie: thats pretty rude you know, people make mistakes. and you arent supposed to look for errors, you're supposed to enjoy the story. I dont think YOU would like to be told that.

    10. Ahhh, poor Spike, getting the "it'll never work" spiel. I've been there...

Maybe it's just that I can empathize with Spike here, but I really enjoyed this fanfic. It's plausible, in character, and made me smile. Well done!

    11. The ending kinda made me mist up a lil, to be honest. I feel sad for Spike. D:

      Great story. :3

    12. @PinkiePieFan Well, pointing out problems is always a good thing. It helps them fix those little errors and improve as a whole. That was unnecessarily harsh though. Spread the friendship and kindness, man!

    13. (Unnecessarily harsh on Interrobang Pie's part, that is.)

I fixed it. sorry about my extremely disgusting and unforgivable abuse of the English language with my misspelling of a single word.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, Ponies! It means a lot. I'm glad to be getting so many responses (this is TheTruthofHistory, PanDotthast, Lady, whatever you wanna call me) .

    16. I honestly think Spike is much more sophisticated than people give him credit for. Sure, he's young and a little immature, but he did grow up in the capital city of Canterlot. He spent all his formative years around nobility; so I have to wonder, would he really have problems pronouncing french words?

As to social experience, in the first episode, when Twilight's brushing people off and burying herself in books to look up legends about Nightmare Moon, Spike was all set to go to Moondancer's party. And in the season finale Spike makes a point of telling his friends how he wants to show them all the best sights in the capital. And he seems really disappointed that they don't want to go with him. It's his one chance to shine, they're finally going somewhere he gets to be the star! He knows everypony who's anypony in Canterlot! And then they all ditch him.

I think it would make a more interesting story if, when Rarity accepts Spike's offer of a date, she finds out that's there's a lot more to him than just being the friendliest, most helpful guy around. What if he actually has his crush on her *not* because she's the most beautiful pony around, but because she reminds him the most of home. He was basically dragged out of his happy life at court and away from all his noble friends in Canterlot and forced to move to Ponyville with Twilight.

Rarity is the one person who reminds him the most of life he used to have.

This is in no way a criticism of your story. I thought it was excellent. I just have a vision of spike as having this big background life going on that tends to be ignored because he's more of a background character.

    17. @Anonymous

I see where you're coming from anon. If you remember correctly though, Spike had a crush on Rarity from the moment he met her; a good deal before he had a chance to be homesick.

And why is it so hard to believe Spike would have problems pronouncing French words when in episode one it's revealed he has trouble with words in the language he speaks?

I don't seek to discredit Spike's intelligence or depth as a character but he is . . . "a BABY dragon after all."
