Key Blade Ponies?
ReplyDeleteBrb, Ill go get them
Well there are these 2 that I deemed worthy of being a Fic image

ponies in my kingdom hearts...............yay
ReplyDeleteI am slightly afraid to pick up anything Kingdom Hearts, to be honest... M-m-maybe I'll wait for feedback from others and see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteOk, I have been waiting for this...
ReplyDelete@Zarkanorf
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because they combine Disney, a children's-thing, with a JRPG thing?
We're a fandom of ponies; we shouldn't care about the subject matter of things, when it comes to age demographic.
YES! Kingdom hearts and my little pony combined to form pure epicness!
ReplyDeleteYeeessssss*Megatron*
ReplyDeleteI am liking what I have seen so far, as it seems quite believable and rather in character(Though you might be overdoing it with pinkie)
Further criticism will be withheld until more content is released so I can try and get an idea of where you are going with the story.
Lastly, Loved the possible tie in between the Hartless and NMM
I... I honestly don't want to read anymore. I'm being told every emotion they're having, I'm hit by non-stop dialog, and there's never a moment to slow down. Never any exposition; don't just SAY they walked for a day, explain some anxiety, Rainbow Dash's suspicions, how they prepared, etc.. I wasn't even sure there was that everlasting night until you actually got to the castle, either. I still barely have an idea what Rikupony looks like.
ReplyDeleteEugh, I'm gonna have to stop here. One chapter was all I could stand.
... you know, I've never been a huge Kingdom Hearts fan so I honestly don't know if this is in character or not. But if it is, then I will continue to be a not-Kingdom Hearts-fan. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of Kingdom Hearts, but this was pretty interesting. Definitely looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, creative story blending the worlds of Equestria and Kingdom Hearts together in an original story sure to earn 5-stars from those familiar with both. This story is sure to become one of my favorites in the future.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I was skeptical at first, but once the 3rd chapter came in the smile I had just kept growing uncontrollably.
On a side note I absolutely lost it when pinkie came out and announced, "I got +50 XP for creative use of cymbals!" Brilliant!
There are a few things that keep me from calling this a great story, subtle signs that suggest that you're not overly familiar with MLP... They're mostly small things, like referring to the main town as "Ponytown" rather than Ponyville, Rarity referring to the female Rainbow Dash as a gentlecolt, and the tendency to tell rather than show. Don't get me wrong, there are strong points, like Dash's boss fight in chapter 2, but the story doesn't feel strong enough to me.
ReplyDeleteOverall a really decent story. At least worthy of four stars. It seemed a little clumsy in the first chapter, but the author really picked up a bit of steam in the second and third chapters. As a fan of both series, I'm looking forward to the rest!
ReplyDeleteooooh Great story love it always have been a big Kingdom Hearts fan can't wait to see how the ponies will affect the story i wonder when they will find out about what the Heartless are so far they just know about shadows destroying worlds how and where will they get more information can't wait to see
ReplyDeleteKH and MLP?!
ReplyDeleteI think I just died and gone to heaven X3
Uh, the whole thing with AJ getting shot never really got resolved... She just kinda got better
ReplyDeleteLike "Kill me, I'm a PONY" and Kyle said. The author should maybe try a rewrite in future, because despite the good setting, logical coherence in cause>consequnce is important to keep the reader reading.
ReplyDeleteI am a semi- KH fans. Meaning I love the first game, hate the rest, but you seem to keep it great so far.
But...please avoid yaoi or shipping of any kind. This will kill kill any story quickly.
Also, love the bit of 4th wall breaking at chapter 3.
I think this'll be the only "grindmark" story I'll read! Kingdom Hearts is awesome!
ReplyDeleteLike a lot of others said: good, but not great. Pinkie Pie's writing seems off, especially during the fight in chapter 3 with...whatever that things is supposed to be. And like Kill me, I'm a PONY mentioned, I'm pretty sure AJ got shot. Not really something you just walk-off, unless she picked up some HP orbs or something :P A bit hard to follow in several places, more so than the game.
ReplyDeleteI will admit to being a huge fan of both source materials, so I hope to see some improvement. This does have potential.
Eh, I'll keep reading it, b ut I think it's kinda bad. It's just one page of dialogue after another.
ReplyDeleteThe pacing is kinda off, and I don't feel Riku is a very screen-worthy character.
I really don't see what's so grimdark about this. Then again, I read cupcakes, so idk.
haven't read it yet, but I gotta say this:
ReplyDeletePony fandom, get out of my head! Every time I think of a crossover, I find it here in the next 24 hours! FMA, Coraline, and now Kingdom Hearts!
... Sure, Kingdom Hearts was obvious, but today I just thought about actually writing the notes and then HERE I AM.
CONFOUND THESE BRONIES!
That should be "We need to be on HOOF to deal with it" not hand.
ReplyDeleteFurther, try to add more direction telling us who is speaking.
Otherwise, FANTASTIC. I loved every second of this. I cannot wait to see ch. 4.
(After reading CH-3, before CH-4 came out)
ReplyDeleteI honestly hope we see Sora soon. Riku's betrayal(inevitable, Sora has to rescue his friend after all and he'll probably get help from the pony's who are more invested in said rescue because they meet him) will defiantly hit the pony's hard, though I wonder when we'll see the inevitable when they 'need' to blend into a visiting world as humans(though personally seeing them all turn into sea creatures would probably be entertaining) and how they react to being turned into beings with whom they hear nothing but bad things(Those forest animals are a bunch of pessimist's, especially the Owl. They definitely have predators in that forest, why not tell them to fear them you mean bird, oh maybe because he is one of those predators."look out for that human or else I won't get to catch you!)
Left a review on the FFn version saying I'd find it. Well, I found it and now I'm happy. :3
ReplyDeleteChapter 5:
ReplyDelete>implying Riku/Selphie
>implying Riku likes girls
OH U.
This story definitely has its flaws, as others have pointed out, but its a good read nonetheless. Can't wait for the next part! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit confused by the Agrabah boss battle at the end of chapter 5. Not by the part that's supposed to be confusing and will obviously get explained in full later (the lolarious irony of the fearsomely named Coming of Death coming up... dead), but the Keyblade logic.
ReplyDeleteWith a little thought, I get how Jafar could even hang on the the Keyblade as long as he did--he pulled a Leon: Incapacitate Sora, and keep him incapacitated if you don't want the Keyblade to magically switch hands.
But what's still confusing is Riku wielding the Keyblade. It's never made clear when the Keyblade suddenly abandoned Riku and reverted back to Sora. Going by the game, it shouldn't have without major effort: the Keyblade actually did stick with Riku until a sufficiently dramatic speech invoking the power of FRIENDSHIP! made Sora's heart momentarily "stronger" than Riku's. And that moment was implied to be the exception, and not the rule...
So it was confusing when I slowly pieced together from the scene that Sora had that keyblade again. I'm not sure when or even how, exactly, Sora earned back the blade with the magic of friendship offscreen.
Fun, if flawed towards the beginning, story, though. A BUG'S LIFE, fuck yeah!
Oh, also, considering Donald and Goofy are still only acting on Mickey's mysterious orders to follow Some Guy With A Key, there should have probably been at least some acknowledgement of their dilemma when it turns out they've found a *second* Keybearer, and maybe get worried at the fact that the first guy they found temporarily got demoted for five minutes there.
ReplyDeleteOh again: P.P.S. ...And what is 'atrafication' in the phrase 'The Construction of a Mechanism to Induce Artificial Atrafication'? I can't find it in any online dictionary. Is it supposed to be related to the words 'atrium' or 'atrophy' or what? Etymology, I needz it.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed with the last chapter.
ReplyDeleteFor one, if the mane cast are in the cave of wonders, then it would also mean Spike would go crazy at all the gems and treasure.
Secondly as
@Anonymous said, it lacked that conflict of Donald and Goofy. It's all those small interaction jokes which keeps a story good.
Third, I am missing Sora's, Goofy's and Donald's (and Genie's) reaction to the revelation that the girls are ponies.
Forth, you kinda kicked Aladin out of the last bit, and that was definetely OOC. He is all over the head for Jasmine, and he would definetely rather track the princess down than excusing himself to sit back on Agrabah. And Snow White was kinda OOC at the chapter before.
Last thing, it would have been better if you have divided the chapters in shorter episodes and not throw readers complete text pasta onto them.
I like the idea and alot of the stuff you made so far, but I fear you try to force too much things into one thing, leaving out other stuff the reader is far more interested to read. The story gives me a quite feel of dissonances and confusement.
@Anonymous Okay, time for P.P.P.S. ...Might as well start entering my name this time to be less confusing.
ReplyDeleteWhen did Fluttershy learn Riku's true form in Chapter 4? She was unconscious for most of it. That redundant revelation could've been dealt with in, like, a deliberately compressed manner to the point of absurdity (for the sake of lolz and miminizing redundant storytelling). As it is it made no sense-- when Riku got a line of dialogue after she just woke up, I was expecting there to be a gag where she turns around to face him and goes "Eeep!" at the Man being there instead of the pony Riku.
And, I dunno, there's just something... off about how the status quo is preserved at the end of chapter 5, with the two groups going their separate ways just as they came. I thought meeting Sora's group would be impossible this early in the story because I was expecting it to shake shit up. Riku didn't even throw a jealous, possessive snit over Sora's new 'replacement' friends. Even with the divergences from KH canon so far, with Riku finding his own companions so he'd be a massive hypocrite if he did that, I expected... something more involved and developed, direct-interaction-wise, than the single portrayed moment of the cold shoulder treatment, followed by making up and splitting up again in the last scene.
Annnd I was disappointed in the end of Chapter 4, too. It would've made sense for 101 Dalmatians' world's Keyhole to be breached before the ponies got the chance to leave, since that has to happen pretty early on, before Sora explores Traverse Town, and it would establish for the ponies' benefit just what destroying a star in the sky looks like from ground zero. (One less thing for the princesses to provide exposition about!: Heartless breaching a giant keyhole destroys the world.) That would be a more dramatic climax: finding the reason the Heartless had conveniently vanished after devouring Cruella was they had moved on to the Keyhole in Cruella's office. Bam, no sooner do they learn of the fairies second-hand than they find out first-hand what the Heartless are up to, and everything pulls a Destiny Islands as they escape. It doubles as being extra tragic/Fluttercry.jpg, since they'd just saved the dalmatians from Cruella-- only to be forced to leave them behind to the end of the world.
I gotta go with @G.G. Gala, in my opinion Sora and the team showed up way to early. You should've waited for a few chaps, like Traverse Town.
ReplyDeleteThe dark theme you put out is quite good, but you give the impression to rush things at one time, and the other leaving other stuff out. As the prior anon said, you try and force too much into the fic.
This is a pretty great fanfiction. I'm enjoying it so far quite a lot. Very few errors.
ReplyDelete"A huge creature, dozens of feet tall, larger than the dragon they'd faced, canis minor, or even the hydra, erupted from the platform."
ReplyDeleteCanis minor. What?
Looking forward to the next chapter! I like how you got Riku in this.
ReplyDeleteJust read part 1 and...
ReplyDeleteI find it very strange that no one seem to care in the SLIGHTEST that :
A random pony (seemingly confuse to be a pony), which has... fallen from the sky/somewhere/something in a ''thuderclap'' (or something)... is suddenly following the Main Cast, which are themselves on an important mission (which I would guess would be seen as somewhat secret, since it's a request form the Royal-Goddess Luna)...
Then at the castle Celestia doesn't even give a side-blink at the fact that an unknown pony is there with the Main Cast, listening their conversation, which is involving State Affairs and security of the kingdom(and world maybe too) and Luna...
Nopony wonder about anything about him, the strange place he said he was from, or why he's interested in Nightmare Moon stuff, or why he was in such a hurry to reach the castle, or...
.......well, you probably get the idea, from that point now ?
1 Character from nowhere... and nopony in the Main Cast or Celestia are wondering why ''the heck'' he's there... at all ?
...who knows, maybe in the next parts somepony will grow a few 'cells' and ask him a few OBVIOUS questions ?
@Nova25 maybe you didn't notice that Rainbow dash had her eyes on him like a hawk the whole time. Sure the rest were quick to trust them, but that is their thing, They trust until given a reason not to, whereas Dash is the opposite.
ReplyDeleteAs for the story overall, It is a wonderful story with a couple glitches here and there. I love the author's interpretation of how KH would have gone if Twilight's gang was included and how Riku would have developed with the ponies by his side. As well as RD's keyblade story arc. I noticed a few bronies complaining about confusing points and inconstancies (which, for me, were few and far in between). I do understand that the finer points of the story might be lost on some readers that aren't as strong of fans of KH as they are of FiM such as how in chapter 5 Riku suddenly gets the keyblade from Jafar seemingly out of nowhere(the keyblade teleports itself into the hands of those it deems worthy) But being a huge fan of both series, I can follow and piece together events quite easily.
What I am trying to say is that this story, although a very good one so far as of this post, is not for everyone. It will entertain many readers but, unless the author changes his style of writing to better accomodate the reader in future chapters, will confuse still more others.
Bottom line: I give this story (so far) a 7/10.
@Anonymous Actually, this is before the keyblade chose Riku over Sora, so I believe that Riku is having a moment of (as you put it) FRIENDSHIP! allowing him to temporarily use the keyblade, not the otherway around
ReplyDeleteI've never played the game, but I like the story.
ReplyDeletei wonder if rainbowdash will turn into a heartless like sora did
ReplyDeleteSo is this ever going to get updated again?
ReplyDeleteNewsflash: this fic has updated on Fanfiction. Why does this have a grimdark tag anyway? Is Kingdom Hearts really counted as grimdark?
ReplyDeleteAnd here i thought that this would never update...
ReplyDeleteit never updated to the point that i deleted the fiction from the collection i have so far...
Another newsflash: Chapters 5-7 on the FF.net version are just a compilation of Chapter 5 here. There's really only one new chapter.
ReplyDeletewill u finish the story for god sake !!!!!!!!!!!
