Pony fighting games! What has the world come to?
The creator of this little beauty wants you all to know that this upcoming game will feature a total of 17 playable characters, with the mane six playable at initial launch. More information will be forthcoming at a later date!
I kinda feel like Bioware now. THIS GAME WILL BE DONE SOON™.

Horn jabs, front hoof strikes, head butts, flying kicks (apple boom has shown us this is possible), cartwheel kicks, body slams, wing strikes, magic based attacks, etc...

ReplyDeleteWell in one the screen shots, we see applejack using a flying elbow attack. I'm assuming kick moves will be bucking attacks, but think outside the box. We have pinkie pie, master of the fourth wall. i could see her ultimate becoming "Pinkamena" or Twilight going all magical as she did in Cutie mark chronicles.
Weird thing is that I randomly thought about this about a week ago... I can just hear the announcer screaming "FRIENDSHIP!" at the end of every match... :D

I am so curious about Fluttershy. I mean does she go Angryshy at the start of each match, just fight with her normal level of confidence but somehow doing decent damage, or just cower the whole time as Angel does all the real fighting? I mean Applejack and Dash are physical enough for normal fighting stuff, Rarity and Twilight can use magic to make up for their lack of physicality, and everyone has already discussed Pinkie enough, but Fluttershy fighting at all is just odd and funny.

ReplyDeleteI think Fluttershy would fight like Kurumi Murumati from Vanguard Princess. Most of her moves involve hammerkicks, basic self-defense, and falling on her face. But that's totally balanced by her powerful combination supers. Or in Fluttershy's case, Flutterrage!

I smell lots of potential for things like transformations (Luna to Nightmare Moon or Twilight to Super-Magic Form like in the Banner atm.) and so much more.
is the person using the mugen engine? also, i think i saw other images and pinkie sad form and scootaloo was shown and the stages was inside AJ barn and outside of the townhall but i think that was a other person game. anyway, i hope Spitfire is playable!
ReplyDeleteI can see some awesome combos or finishers. Flutterage for one, Rarity growing wings and dazzling everyone, Twilight doing the Rapidash thing. I think Pinkamina should be an unlockable though. Its like a totally different personality, so totally different moves and such. Luna can become Nightmare moon, or make it an unlockable.

Twilight's Level 3 Superhyper combo has to be rage mode where she goes all rapidash, gaining speed and attack damage (Like Jill in MVC3 or Super Sonic in Brawl).

ReplyDeleteThis kinda goes against the point of the show, but needless to say, it's a fun idea. That'd be really interesting to see how this would turn out.
ReplyDeleteSome suggestions though, if you enact fighting the same player, you should at least make them a different color. Also, add some variety to the fighting moves that fit the characters.
I can see alot of potential for the game.
ReplyDeleteApplejack could be the all-around best physical fighter who has the most agility and power.
Pinkie Pie has to be given several goofy moves, while having the game also parody her ability to bend time and space to her command(such as her teleporting behind the opponent and hitting them several times)
Twilight would be the magic expert, given a variety of small magic moves, as well as powerful health-draining and boost spells.
Fluttershy would be among the coolest, being able to control and summon wild animals to help her fight the opponent. Where does that sound familiar?
Rainbow Dash would definitely be the most agile, given tons of special weak, yet incredibly and uncomprehensively fast attacks.
As for Rarity, well, he's going to have to be super creative about it.

ReplyDeletehe should have them be in an "exhausted" state at the end of each battle, where the ponies wouldn't be unconscious, but rather show a state of fatigue through their animation.

A note in general. We can't tell you who else is in the roster yet -we don't want to spoil the surprise!- but we can tell you: They are all from MLP. We're not doing crossovers with other shows or franchises. Afer all, it's "My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic", not "Loads of fighting with a pony stuffed here and there"
Boss characters I want to see:
ReplyDeleteSuper Twilight: we already know how awesome she is.
1000 Suns Celestia: the boss. With "trollface" taunt move. Finishing move: banish to the moon, then send the moon to the sun.
Serious Dash AKA "candyvag in distress!": so fast shes actually hard to control but with Buccaneer Blaze for ridiculous full-screen damage and stun.
Psycho Pinkamina: As random as normal pinkie but instead of showers of balloons and candy and stuff you get showers of knives, voodoo dolls and chainsaws.
I'll be choosing Big MacIntosh if he's playable, poor guy need some more screen time, in any way I can get it for him.

Rarity: Magics them into fabric, and then crushes them ala Gaara.
Pinkie Pie: Beats them senseless with her health bar(yes, I know Deadpool does it too.)
Fluttershy: Uses the Stare to paralyze them, and then apologizes and/or has her animal flock tear them apart.
Rainbow Dash: Grabs them, takes off, and slams them into the ground after a Sonic Rainboom.

And yes, there will be taunts. Some of the flavour stuff may be later on, since we want to get a solid game made as soon as we possibly can, but we are all VERY excited to add the custom intros, taunts, and custom wins/lose type things :)

My brother and I were discussing this yesterday...
Apple Bloom needs a version of Shun Goku Satsu where she changes into her karate gi and beats the stuffing out of the target. At the end she turns her back to the screen, and her gi has the kanji for "Apple" on it.
Fluttershy's FlutterRage attack: She yells "COME OUT!" The opponent is stampeded by animals, followed by "You're going to LOVE ME!" and Fluttershy stomping the crap out of them.
Applejack: Apple Family Reunion. Need I say more? Big Mac delivers the finishing blow.
Pinkie Pie: "Breaking the Fourth Wall". See Deadpool in MvC3. Hanging off the health bars, beating people with the super bar, you get the idea. Probably accompanied by some sort of musical number.
Rainbow Dash: I envision something akin to Tager's "King of Tager" finisher from BlazBlue -- Dash flies the opponent way up in the air, executes a rainboom on the way down, and crashes them into the ground.
Rarity: "Art of the Dress", naturally. Rarity wraps the opponent up in fabric, magics it into a beautiful but constricting dress, then yells "Stupid Rock!" and drops the Rock on them.
Twilight: Ummm... basically, she goes into the Avatar State and obliterates everything on the screen. Like her origin story, but with a big boom at the end. I kinda want her to have a lesser super attack, too, where she transforms into Rapidash...
I wish to note that these were developed without seeing ThunderGod's input. Some of their attacks are just obvious... :D

Luna: Goes Nightmare Moon and actually does stuff other than thorns and cracks in the ground.
Spike: Dr. Whoof yanks him into the TARDIS, shoves out his adult knight form, and he does all his badass stuff.
Derpy Hooves: The enemy tries to throw a punch, but Derpy takes their arm and goes 200% ninja on them, leaving them under a piano and wondering WTF just happened.
Owlicious: Hoots, and their head explodes from the Satanic chanting.
Scootaloo: Ropes them up and drags them behind her scooter, dealing multiple minor hits, possibly a 256 hit combo.
@Thundergod. There needs to be commentary during Scootaloo's ultimate, if that's true. Some along the lines of "That's gotta hurt!" and "Oh, the EQUINITY!"

Also you should definitely have to UNLOCK characters. That's part of the fun.
