This is pretty surprising actually. I didn't think so many people actually read the fanfiction here.
I'm also glad you guys aren't sick of the pmv dumps. They do get sort of repetitive considering we have no new episodes to use for them.
I'm sure the comments will center around one option there, something everyone kept bugging me to add. I figured I'd just compile it.
Anyway onward to the next poll!

I'm guessing 76-79 people simply clicked every single poll option because they could.
ReplyDeleteeverything but clop, working on the show, synctube, and thats it I think
ReplyDeleteIT'S BECAUSE THE FANFICTION ON THIS SITE IS FUCKING FANTASTIC, AS ARE ALL THE DEDICATED AUTHORS!
ReplyDeleteKeep at it, bronies.
I laughed at *Clop Clop Clop* getting 34%.
ReplyDeleteSeth, you deserve a cookie.
ReplyDeleteFor everything.
I'm honestly surprised that more people admit to reading the fan-fiction than to looking at the art. I honestly thought the art option would have scored well above 70%.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous #3
ReplyDeleteIt may be that some considered only making art counted and others didn't.
I personally can't draw, and don't take part in video-ish stuff. But I've done (amateur) fanfiction/forum RP for years. I'm just happy the fandom is active as it is--in my experience, an active fandom is tough to find.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who interpreted "take part in" as "do" rather than "consume"? Like, I only clicked on art, but I love lots of the music & PMV's.
ReplyDeleteA lot more clopping than I would of thought. I'm not into it myself, but I ain't judging.
ReplyDeleteI read only a selection of the fanfics - mainly stuff that contains large amounts of Rainbow Dash (and in every one I've read she's in some sort of pain. Damn you, linguists!)
ReplyDeleteIn terms of contributions, I draw stuff for the Artist Training Grounds. Occasionally. I have, however, secretly wanted to write a fanfic. Teehee. I must get some ideas jotted down at some point.
NEXT POLL: Favorite man six pony.
ReplyDeleteDO IT
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhy? We already know that Fluttershy will win, while the obviously best pony, Rarity, will rank only slightly above Applejack for some strange reason.
Well, I think I have to admit that I answered as what I contribute or am involved in rather than what I look at. So I did not check Fanfiction, even though I have read a few of them. I look at almost all of it, but not being part of the show, I only voted on 4 of the items that, at least this far into my maniacal pony fixation, in which I have been active.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally not surprised at the high fanfiction percentage. Some of the fanfiction here is world-class. And the average quality is insane too (which I think has only increased in the last months).
ReplyDeleteThis is just a fandom that inspires its fans to contribute; yay!
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete>man six pony
lolwut? I agree though. We haven't done a poll with JUST the mane six.
@l0x0r
Silly brony, that's not how you spell Pinkie Pie!
Yeah, I thought the question was 'What do you actually DO?" So I didn't click art or video. I always check the compilations, but I don't make any myself. I suspect a lot of people read it that way.
ReplyDelete@krypqe
ReplyDeleteThanks!
(I would put a <3 here, but I hate using those.)
@MaskOfData
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
But the <3's are fantastic! They spread the love!
(If you don't like that type of heart, you could use alt+3 on the numpad for one of these: ♥ (But I hate using them... :P))
Oh come on, only 1 in every 3 people here admit to clopping? We all know everypony does it...
ReplyDeleteI would have voted fanfiction if I'd known whether you meant reading or writing... I's confuzzled.
ReplyDeleteI presumed it meant intake, but I have contributed in a number of round about ways. Plus, I made some art to keep my bases covered.
ReplyDeleteI'd be surprised if about half of the entire production crew actually visited this site.
ReplyDeleteThough I'll wait to see if there are any obvious shout-outs in season two, so I can be corrected.
Sick of PMVs? That is Celestia type dump, just like art, fanfictions, news, music.
ReplyDeletePMVs all the way!
p.s. it's not about the context of pmv, but how well does it fit with ponies. Just because it's 2 minutes of shooting, explosions, car crashes and whatnot doesn't mean it's going to be good without the needed resources (lots of ponies doing something that resembles shooting, explosions, car crashes and whatnot), a pmv where mostly conversation takes place between two ponies will be most of the time better than something like this. If you set up the bar high, you have to reach the standards or it will appear weaker than it actually is, if the bar is set low, it will appear better than it actually is. Also, it's a quadratic graph, not linear, so it's important to find the peak.
Almost 80 votes who work on the show out of roughly 180 people noted in the credits?
ReplyDeleteTo me, that sounds like a huge ratio to be checking on the fanblog. Marvelous.
It's not so much I'm clopping to ponies, but the erotic adventures they go on
ReplyDelete"I'm sure the comments will center around one option"
ReplyDeleteWhy *clopclopclop* whatever do you *clopclopclop* mean, Sethisto? This is a *clopclop* wholesome community who *clopclop* only partakes in *clopclopclop* family friendly fun!!! ***CLOPCLPCLOPCLOPCLOP***
HNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!
*came rainbows*
*waiting for the next poll*
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle vs Pinkie Pie vs Fluttershy vs Rainbow Dash vs Rarity vs Applejack!
Clop clop clop 34%?
ReplyDelete34?! you're kidding right? RIGHT?!
I can see why Fanfics got the majority part of the votes. Seeing as there are no longer any new episodes appearing out any time soon, viewers/authors now rely on their own imagination by writing their own episodes and sharing it for everyone to enjoy. Just to ease the craving for new content ponies to show.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYea i now right ? only 34%
Wait, take part in means stuff you watch/read/listen to? I thought it was only things you created! consider more things checked off!
ReplyDeleteNo mane six poll. While I still disagree with the decision of the majority, it IS the majority, and as such, no further polls will accomplish anything.
ReplyDeleteFavorite crack-pairing poll GO!
"I didn't think so many people actually read the fanfiction here."
ReplyDeleteSorry, but what?
The blog is the central site for pony fanfiction now, and you've made it pretty clear you don't want that to change.
@Flygon16
ReplyDeleteWhat? We haven't had a poll with only the mane characters.
Clop clop clop, i took some minutes to figure out what it meant when i saw the poll, But i have so many questions about what really it means.
ReplyDelete@Roack16
ReplyDeleteCloú = fap
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteClop = fap *
I doubt 80 of the staff come here, but a decent amount probably do. It's not too much work to just stop by every now and then to see what people think about your work.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm "Community Events-666 votes"
ReplyDeleteO.o
I didn't expect 34% to be clopping to ponies. I think this is awful. Oo
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one staring down that last poll option and its result? Now, before I'd thought MAYBE three or five employees came here from the show... 79? Even if it's only somewhat accurate under worse-case, holy shit.
ReplyDeleteOur time may be coming, my bronies.
next age/ gender
ReplyDeletelol clop clop clop was EXACTLY 34%... what are the odds?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDelete"our time may be coming."
explain.
I wonder if more people write fanfic than actually read it.
ReplyDeleteVoted PMV's, forum, and art myself. I would read the fanfictions (some of them look really promising) but I don't have quite that much time in my pony budgeting.
ReplyDeleteOh god, that's what you meant by clop? *shudder*
@Adrian Brony
ReplyDeleteA time of true recognition, per se.
When Hasbro starts dollin' out those Luna dolls. When the fillies & colts of brony-dom can walk with Dash and Fluttershy hoodies, PJ's and such, and not given even the slightest second thought. Not that we aren't on the way already, but that thar last poll result, along with CNN and the AV Club and Time; the publicity, it proves something:
Our time is coming, a time that bronies everywhere will know when it happens, that final spotlight of finality.
Of course, I'm not clear on every circumstance it will happen under, but it isn't hard to see.
Likely, the official merch that many of us so clamour for (much of which happens right here. Luna figure anyone?) will be the first leak in the dam. After that, all I can say is "watch".
I'm pleased to see that the majority of the fans don't actually clop to anything related to the show. While I don't mind what others do I think I would feel weird if that option was actually the majority.
ReplyDeleteSeeing Art and Fanfics at the top isn't surprising as there is some really good artwork and fics posted here.
@Randomjack
ReplyDeleteI knew it already but i was thinking was said in other meaining.
Wait, clop clop clop got 34%? As in Rule 34?!
ReplyDeleteCoincidence? I think not.
Not really surprised at the high percentage of fanfiction readers; a lot of stuff here is of really high quality. What did surprise me was the number of... cloppers. Oh internet, you silly.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused now. I thought that the poll was asking what we CONTRIBUTED to, i.e. I didn't tick fanfiction because I don't write fanfiction, although I do read a fair bit. Same with music. Either way I'm surprised fanfiction came out on top over art.
ReplyDelete34% = Rule 34. Coincidence?
ReplyDeleteOh god, cloppers...
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!
Ohh..We checked them based on what we LIKED not what we DID? Whoops.
ReplyDelete1000+ synchtubers. I find that to be a colossal number, considering there are only a couple rooms that usually have around 40-50 people in them.
ReplyDelete@Tears of a valedictorian
ReplyDeleteAs long as they don't take over the fandom I'll be happy.
Everypony clops.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteGiven that the proportion seems to only increase with time (look at how 'saucy' pictures are slowly creeping into the draw posts), you'll probably be disappointed.
I mean, it's already at a third. I can't wait for the next interview where someone has to try to explain this 'innocent' love for a children's cartoon.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThat would be unlikely to play well on CNN *or* Time magazine.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI haven't really seen too big of a rise in saucy pics. Months ago we still had things like the lingerie ponies and the occasional near clop fic post.
The only reason I think we see saucy in the Drawfriends now is because Seth has found a system to post them without too much controversy.
Still, you must see the worry some of us have. We already have a somewhat hard time getting people to watch the show. If the number of people who clop to ponies becomes the majority we will have a bigger stigma to overcome and may even get mistakenly lumped into the furry fandom. As one other anon mentioned, places like Time, Wired, or CNN wouldn't report on us in a positive light with such a stigma.
To each their own, but I think we need to keep our communities as clean as possible in order not to creep out newcomers.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteEverypony clops, but the implication is clopping to ponies.
It shouldn't surprise you that some bronies clop exclusively to non-pony material.
I held out until Spitfire.
"Clop clop clop" got 34%... 34... My mind is blown
ReplyDeleteI blame the character shipping
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOut of sight, out of mind?
As you say, there's less controversy now. People tolerate stuff more as they become accustomed to it. Its only ever downhill.
I didn't vote because I assumed it was only stuff you DO, not consume, like many people have said. Oh well. :|
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis is the year, where magic fails you
The test subjects run the experiments
And the pony you know, is the filly you hate
But friendship is possible if we try
There is no reason, no time like the present, tell me right now
What have you got to lose
What have you got to lose, except your soul?
Who's with us?!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeletePossibly. It isn't something to get worked up about I guess unless it destroys the fandom someday or something. Also, it is just one poll. For all we know the amount of cloppers (as well as the other categories) could have increased or decreased over time, but we don't know from just a single point of data.
Also, by less controversy I thought it was mainly due to not a greater tolerance for that stuff, but that it is hidden behind links that lessen the controversy?
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI know, but the fav character poll was a pretty good implication of where people's loyalties lie as far as the mane six are concerned (e.g. Fluttershy and Dash). I doubt the balance is going to shift too drastically if side options are cut off.
Then again, I could be totally bucking wrong about this (it's rare, but it's happened). All I know is, if there is a mane six poll, my vote instantly goes to Lady Rarity (big surprise there =P).
Saucy material used to be posted without issue, unless I missed something. It's gotten more controversial as time goes on, which is why Seth came up with ways to SFW the Drawfriend posts.
ReplyDelete@Flygon16
ReplyDelete>Fluttershy and Dash
Err, Pinkie got second. And I think it would make a reasonable difference without Luna, Celestia, Derpy, Trixie, etc. in the mix.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhoops, my bad ^^; I've slept since then. And you could very well be right. I don't think it will, but like I said, I've been wrong before (case in point: my previous post, lol).
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteTrixie and Luna probably draw 'cute, socially-awkward magic user' votes away from Twilight.
@Star Whistle
ReplyDeleteAh, then you have more experience with the blog history than I fellow Brony. I wasn't here in the earliest days.
I considered taking in fan content (and frequently commenting on it) as taking part in it, so I selected most of the choices. Basically, I chose everything but Game Servers, Chat Room, RPing, *Clop Clop Clop*, Synctube, Other and Working on The Show.
ReplyDeleteNot at all surprised at the Clop clop result. In fact I'm sure the true result would be higher if people were more honest about themselves and sexuality wasn't seen as taboo as it is our societies. There's nothing to be ashamed at for fantasizing over fictional characters. All part of the human experience.
ReplyDeleteI chose PMVs, Music, and other (I purchased some of the toys). And I actually just made a PMV, so I think that counts as Music as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually incredibly boring. I've made no contribution to the community besides the occasional comments to ED.
ReplyDelete"Anyway onward to the next poll!" -Sethisto
ReplyDelete*many hours later, no new poll*
Wait, what?
If this is an attempt to separate the comments from the last poll from the comments on the current poll, then bravo. If not...POST THE DAMN POLL ALREADY! I must tell the collective internets my opinion on things! My opinion is very important!!!
Whether the poll was understood as things people LIKED or whether it was understood as things you CONTRIBUTED to, RPing is obviously not favored. Please let this be a notice to the folks that like to role-play on EqD...
ReplyDeleteThe Brony collective still loves and tolerates the shit out of you, but please relegate the role-playing to other forums...there are plenty available to you.
For me, it is a disincentive to posting on-topic in a thread when I've seen it has been overtaken by role players. Judging by the poll results, I'm not alone...
I'm sure that the 79 votes for Working of the Show, are just bronies that be trolling. Maybe 4 or 5 are actually people from the show, but the rest aren't.
ReplyDeleteI'm the only one who thought : Clop = Applause ?
ReplyDeleteOn the meaning of the poll: I voted for what I consumed as I seem to recall Seth posting a comment on the results of the poll before this one explaining what was meant.
ReplyDeleteOn clopping: I think it would be interesting to see how it breaks down between pony, humanized, and the middle area. I can understand the number being driven up by the humanized art that is out there, which is less abnormal than pure- or half-pony forms.
And what do you expect from a fanbase that has a large part of its origins in 4chan? Seriously.
I actually never planned on reading the fanfiction here, until I kept seeing references to Cupcakes, in which I read to satisfy my curiosity. And I've been hooked on fics ever since (and it's taken over my life XD).
ReplyDelete@Hocus Pocus
I call that Clopplauding.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh XD
In regards to the clopping, I think I saw on SNL (obviously subject to skepticism) that the average college-aged male thinks about sex roughly 17 times per day. Considering our fandom has a high population of college-aged males with (presumably) crazy imaginations, the clopping figure doesn't surprise me.
ReplyDelete@Kill me, I'm a PONY
ReplyDeleteHeh, true enough. Considering it all started on 4chan I guess I should be surprised that the percentage isn't higher then.
I agree, RP is annoying and instantly makes any conversation weird. There is a time and place for that, and this is never the place for it.
ReplyDeleteSo this was about what we like, rather than what we do? I checked other, as I posted the Bronies: An Investigative Report video, and that doesn't really fit in with the categories available.
ReplyDeleteI'm also slightly disturbed by how high of a percentage that clopping got...
Clopclopclop now we all know that clopclopclop more then clopclopclop 34% of you clopclopclop clop to ponies clopclopclop. Came rainbows.
ReplyDeleteOhwait, there's a forum? ohmahstars
ReplyDelete@Heireau
ReplyDeletehttp://www.equestriaforums.com/
Fanfics :D I like peoples' representations of this show.
ReplyDelete*Clop Clop Clop* 34% what the hell
So is there going to be a new poll or what?
ReplyDeleteIdea for next poll: Favorite Song
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI like that idea!
Oh, we were supposed to vote for what we look at. I only voted "art" because that's all I've contributed with.
ReplyDeletelol at clopping 34%
ReplyDelete
