Not to be outdone by those Yu-Gi-Oh players, another brony has busted out a set of pony Pokemon cards. Now this is a nostalgia bomb. I was obsessed with this stupid game as a kid.
These are actually..really high quality. Color me amazed! Or color me purple and blue, I'd like that too.
Anyway, you can find the full set here!

Another reason for me to pick Pokemon up again. I hope they accept Mlp cards in tournaments.
ReplyDeleteThis has inspired me to work on a Magic set, since that's a game I still play.
ReplyDeleteI would've thought Celestia would be a fire-type. Yanno because of the whole Sun thing...
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a pokemon card for six years.
ReplyDeleteBut these cards are making me want to play again.
(A Trixie-central deck would be awesome, for the record x3)
~Dark~
I won't lie, these are good!
ReplyDeleteI never had any idea how to play the Pokemon TCG.
ReplyDeleteI never played the card game, but I own at the video games. My teams were unstoppable
ReplyDeleteI was obsessed with collecting the cards, but I had no idea how to play the game until the GBA card game came out. Or was it GBC. I dunno. It was fun, though!
ReplyDelete... my god that's broken as fuck.
ReplyDelete@NinesTempest
ReplyDelete...Welcome to Pokemon.
I havne't played since it was just kanto.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember it very well. Though one of my college friends apparently used to go to tournaments all the time as a kid. He knew the ins and outs of that metagame.
Now I want to pick up shoddy battle again, fuck.
Cant anyone create a non-agressive original Pony Card Game?
ReplyDelete>non-agressive
ReplyDelete>original
>Card Game
Not likely
>non-agressive
ReplyDelete>card game
@Bronies
ReplyDeleteI am actually (very very slowly) developing just such a game! See, you take a pony and you try to make it the prettiest pony of all. If after ten turns your pony is prettier than the other players', you win! =D
Sound fun?
@Phoe
ReplyDeleteMy victory will depend on how pretty my Pony is. Then I'd lose. :(
Any game that involves the winner to be determined by the players themselves will naturally cause a lot of fighting
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't quit collecting the cards after the first series, these would be in my deck for sure.
ReplyDelete@Phoe
ReplyDeleteSomehow I can imagine this, like the pokemon contests from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
IT'S SO CRAZY THAT IT JUST MIGHT WORK
Oh man, I love this game! :D
ReplyDeleteI like them.
ReplyDeleteBut i differ on making Nightmare Moon a Basic instead of a evolution card.
Now THIS is what I'm talking about.

ReplyDeleteHe actually was going to, but decided against it.
Pokemon > Yu-Gi-Oh
ReplyDeleteBut holy shit even I realise that Psychic Twilight is more broken than my grandparents phonograph.
@Bronies
ReplyDeleteChadRocco over on DA is doing something kind of like that. It's still aggressive, but not in a ponies attacking ponies kind of way.

@Phoe
ReplyDeleteYou win by being prettiest?
Wouldn't you win by making your own pony pretty and then helping the other ponies make themselves pretty?
@Eliwood10
ReplyDeleteThnx man, sure it does look like a great original game, maybe he's wanting hasbro to buy this concept, it even includes dices.
We totally need Magic the Gathering Ponies. Twilight having the ability "Twilight does damage, then returns to the Library" would make my day.
ReplyDeleteKids U mad pokemon its being "agressive"(pokemon is satanic according to church LOL)?
ReplyDeleteY U no fight as a team? 1 on 1 battles with the "all new never before seen" rotating battle system. May i add Victini Celestia as a limited time bullshit?
OK
So lets remade FiM on Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Mon Cole Knights, Monster Rancher, Dino King, Magic, Myths & Legends, Chocobo TCG, Digimon and Duel Masters. Just in case. I specially love the card in FiM Call of Cthulhu Collectible Card Game where you can cut applebloom tummy and play with her intestines without allowing her to die.
"The defending pony is BURNED...(with third grade burns on its face)"
But well i dont think we need an original Brony Card game.
Anyway i have the keannu reeves card so you all lost the game.
And five minutes after I find this on DA it pops up here.
ReplyDeleteYour spies are good. Very good.
@Bronies
ReplyDeleteI'm trying. The process is very slow, and I just scrapped my first set of play mechanics because, while interesting, I don't feel like they're pony enough.
The wording is a little awkward in clearing what is what (Specially the CMC, which should be baby pokemon imo) and what works and what doesn't. Also, all cards being basic makes it almost broken (specially with Nightmare Moon and to a lesser extent, Fire Twilight Sparkle).
ReplyDeleteNot completely broken because in the actual metagame it's possible to set up in 3 turns and sweep your opponent.
So much potential and laughs here. KEEP US UPDATED!
(I'm feeling like making my own, non-aggro TCG and/or joining a current project. We could even see if Hasbro is interested in producing such game!)
@Dave
ReplyDeletehehe she can get donked unless Celestia is out even still, can be one shotted, so i see no problem with it x3
With all these Pokemon/Yugioh card games being made, I'm starting to think up of a Pony version of Fluxx. It could work, I'm just trying to think of what the Rule and Goal cards should be.
ReplyDelete@Bronies
ReplyDeleteMLP with Monster Rancher?
I'm so ok with this.
@ Star Whistle Hwat. The game shoulds totally be based on friendship points. The first player to achieve X befriends the opposing player and wins. :L
ReplyDelete@rubenflonne Can be KO'd easily, but imagine a deck based around her, filled to the brim with Pokemon Collector, Dual Ball, and Revive. With Rainbow Dash's free retreat, you can swarm Twilight to take six prizes in six turns, and given that they're all basic, it's really unlikely your opponent will get a donk. Especially in this new format. >.>
ReplyDelete@Bronies
ReplyDeleteI would especially love a Duel Masters set. I used to geek all over that game in school.
