I thought all the videos were very well done, but I really didn't like any of them.
1. Drugs and ponies? no thanks 2. I'm just not a fan of pokemon >_> 3. I'd rather keep my ponies away from racial slurs. maybe a Will Smith clean rap? I think I would enjoy that more, mostdef. :P
I don't know what is up with everyone loving #2, and I feel an internet rant building inside me.
I like Pokemon much more than rap and raving, but people need to understand what is GOOD WORK.
A good piece of work isn't what you like, it is a piece that stands out because of the detail, perfection, and effort that is put in a piece.
In the case of Pony vids, good lip synchin, fitting video sequences, and attitude are the most important. The Pokemon sing along could have had all of these, and it did, but the other videos 1 and 3 are far superior in every way.
I don't like to deride the work of others, I just hate seeing a piece get lauded while other greater pieces are left in the dark.
As a digital artist and musical performer, I feel like I have a right to say this, and that it is my duty to say so.
#2) Meh, already seen another Pokemon themed PMV before, got bored with this one pretty quick.
3) Never really cared for Wu-Tang music on its own before, but this was actually pretty clever and fun to watch. Yet another case of something made better with ponies.
The sync on #3 is some of the best I've seen for PMV's so far. Seriously Pinkie Pie shouting "You wanna get your teeth knocked out" at :42 is so very done.
2 could have been done FAR better. There are many key beats and notes that should have been synchronized with clips, but the previous shot just continues through. If I recall correctly, the three guitar notes after the first line and the start of the second stanza made me cringe with slight disappointment at them not being timed with any new clips.
I'm stumperman07's sister and I actually helped him make it :) I'm glad most of you guys like it. Kyle and I are going to make another PMV soon, trying to think of a original idea. We've never made a PMV before but I like how it came out. I don't belong to esuestriadaily but my blog is at http://thebitchyangel.tumblr.com
@Anonymous chill bro, people comment on what they like, not what they think has been better. we're not here to criticize them, but to give our opinions about it, it's like with movies, what critics might say is outstanding, audience might call it boring and vice-versa.
1: Another case showing us just how trippy Equestria is. Very nice, and i loved how Fluttershy was in all the loud noise parts. I think she, like me, would have a breakdown in a rave setting.
2: Didn't watch because I'm not a pokemon person and won't get it.
3: Really nicely synced. I'm not much of a rap fan, but it was still neat to see.

ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeletedafuq are you talking about. #3 was poorly lip-synced as well. Hell I could do better -___-
Oh man, number 3's syncing was flawless! I have a new favorite PMV! (Is that what they're called?)
ReplyDeleteOh man, is there any way to get number three surgically installed into my eyes?
ReplyDeleteApplejack as Raekwon is now canon.
ReplyDeleteSilly civilians, you are so easily amused.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding, these all look great.
#1) Is just absolutely perfect.
ReplyDelete#2) Meh, already seen another Pokemon themed PMV before, got bored with this one pretty quick.

1. Fair, not my type of music though.
ReplyDelete2. Loved it.
3. Funny, especially liked the implementation of the end credits.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on this. As someone with an education in video editing #1 and #3 are both technically and creatively superior works for sure.
HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG- #2.
ReplyDeletePonies are a drug. Now where's my alcohol?
ReplyDeleteNumber three had some awesome editing.
ReplyDeleteNumber one, very funny and number three was fantastically edited!
ReplyDeleteI still think #2 would have been better with the powerglove version of the song, but still a cool video.
ReplyDelete#3 was just flat-out amazing. Made the Wu-Tang 20% cooler for sure.
ReplyDelete#3 was awesome.
ReplyDeleteAwesome PMVs this time around
ReplyDelete1. Needs to be longer
2. Well done, still just pokemon though.
3. Perfectly synced. Pinkie Pie as ODB is win
Wu-Tang Herd

ReplyDeletei really enjoyed number one, they didn't recycle any clips like many themed am/pmv's do
ReplyDelete#2
ReplyDeleteBeing a Pokémaniac, (wow, that's not counted as misspelled?) I LOVE IT.
While on the subject, I wonder why people don't like Gen. 5? Well, I KNOW some of the reasons, but some of them are just arbitrary.
I mean, one of the reasons some people don't like it is because of how the names are, but think back to the 1st Gen Pokémon - some of the kids back then thought the names were stupid.
Another reason is because how the Pokémon LOOK, but once again, think back to Gen 1 - Because of the limitations of the GameBoy, some of the Pokémon looked ridiculous then.
Some people don't like it because of the story, and, you've got me there, because the repitition of the stories CAN be annoying, I mean here's the outline of all the stories.
1. Get your starter.
2. Collect the 8 gym badges.
3. Defeat some sort of evil team on the way.
4. Defeat the Elite 4 and Champion.
5. Insert some sort of after-game options
6. Catch 'em all!
7. (After 1st Gen.) Get all the Mystery Gifts and Event Pokémon.
So yeah, but still. The games are GOOD, it's just that if you implemented a different stories, some people may think that the games were at least adequate. But Game Freak realizes the dangers to marketing that might occur with that. If you implemented a new story, some of the older gamers might not buy them, and, since that's the general market for Pokémon, brand-new AND old-time gamers, sales would drop a GREAT amount, thus making a giving up on the series a SERIOUS possibility. Thus, although we THINK it would be fresher with a new story, the game designers don't KNOW we do. If we found the designers' E-mail addresses, e-mailed them our suggestions, and let them THINK on it, then we might get our wish, if they and their marketers think it is a SAFE plan of action.
Sorry on such a rant, just thought I might let it all out. Granted it might not be so smart to do it on Equestria Daily, but still.
#1 is by far my favorite. But it's to short.
ReplyDelete#3 Because rap and ponies seam like they wont mix, but they do.

Photo Finish's tail snap is even in time with the clapping sound in the song at :35 in the first video. Quality!
ReplyDeleteWow, the sync on #3 was AMAZING. :O Well done, sir!
