I'm bumping this, because there were apparently three more comics to add. Blueberry Muffin and Fallenpenguin fully translated all of them.
Fifnatoklon over on Deviant Art has translated this five page German comic. Apparently it was hangin out at some random mall. Oh Hasbro, your distribution is so strange...

ReplyDelete*yay*
Btw, I liek this !
I'd buy that for a dollar!
ReplyDeletei bought this magazin and i must say its kinda boring.
ReplyDeleteApplejack without hat?
ReplyDeleteBlasphemy!
magical flower powder.... right...
ReplyDeletePoor guy, people aren't reading the uploader-comments and understanding that he wasn't the one who made it >.<
ReplyDeleteWhere is the resolution? No! I must know! I haven't been this frustrated since the series finale of Stargate Universe!
ReplyDeleteCookies with a special ingredient that make you giggle... Oh Hasbro, what are you doing to todays youth?
ReplyDeletethe only reason i bought this is because of the poster inside.^^
ReplyDeleteThat's.... actually pretty awful looking. Most of the community art looks heads & tails better. Everypony has the same exact dumb expression the entire comic.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDelete"special ingredient that makes you laugh."
While I'm grateful to the translator, this is not a very good comic
ReplyDeleteSo the Germans have done our job for us and made Pinkie Pie into the Joker.
ReplyDeleteUm.. So.. Is the implication here that Pinkie was making Pot Cookies? Because that's sure what it seems like.
ReplyDeleteStatic expressions are static.
ReplyDeleteAlso pot cookies.
The lack of facial expressions is disturbing. It's more like someone just took random stock art and background art and put a story in rather than being an actual comic.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought it was the 10 000 000 hits comic:D
ReplyDeleteDisappointing. The charm of MLP:FiM derives from the flexibility of its characters, both in a literal and metaphorical sense. They can't be carbon-copied like Hasbro's prior pony iterations, because doing so ruins the "soul" of the show.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the original translator. Wouldn't have known this existed otherwise!
Eh...I think I'll just stick with watching the show ;)
ReplyDeleteapplejack still without hat......
ReplyDeleteHASBRO¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
and damn make them have more expressions in their faces
Hell hath no fury like a fandom scorned... And this comic has just scorned a fandom that covers most of the planet...
ReplyDeleteI wonder why Applejack had no hat. Was it too hard for the, sorry to say, hack artist too draw or was it due to there not being many stereotypical American cowboys in Germany so her character doesn't work as well there.
ReplyDeleteWundersame Apfelkekse...
ReplyDeleteAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!
Holy sh- I mean, are they seriously-
WUNDERSAME APFELKEKSE HAAAAAAAAAA-
I think my lungs are gonna explode.
Haha, I don't get Hasbro's approach at all. It's one of the largest toy corporations in the world, so maybe the best way to roll out a new title is to just release random products in different locations with seemingly no game plan at all and almost no publicity.
ReplyDeleteAlso, they should give the Lyra Celestia heartbreak cartoon artist a comic, s/he got the characters down way better.
Magazines with these sort of stories seem to be popular in Europe. Here in Poland we also get 20 or so page long magazine with adverts, coloring pages, kindergarten style games and one or two comic stories with bad plot and badly drawn ponies.
ReplyDeleteOpium as a cookie ingredient. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh dear Lord.
ReplyDeleteFor a moment I thought the translator was having a laugh at us, because those are clearly hash cookies. But nope, I can say it too. My german ain't perfect but that translation is 100% exact. I bet Hasbro got away with a subtle stealthy joke about hash cookies, in Germany!
@Stargazer
ReplyDeletethats not true, because in the overview of the main character she wears a hat.
I totally want Pinkie Pie to make me some pot cookies now.
ReplyDeleteWell to be fair, there are two expressions, but no this is certainly not very high quality. I doubt the people behind it were given much to work with though.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, we have Pinkie Pie drugging people, and personally, I think the ridiculousness of that plot point makes up for the lack of quality elsewhere.
Pot cookies almost made up for that cringe fest.
ReplyDeleteZauberblütenstaub... I'm dying, I really am dying right now... Holy
ReplyDeleteI love how hilariously bad these comics are.
ReplyDeleteAgain: Transformers fan. We TF fans are used to this. Twenty models of the same toy (and at least seven different versions of the live-action 2007 movie), and you have to go thousands of miles to get them all. It's like Pokemon, but costs more money.
ReplyDeleteHasbro.......DO IT RIGHT U FOAAL!
ReplyDeleteFucking Homosexual Retards...no screw that, even transvestites know what's good and what SUCKZ BALLZ
For Fucks sake if i'm not gonna edit the crap out of this to make it at least decent
To be honest, it's not a very good comic.
ReplyDeleteSeveral things are very out of character for them. "Arial acrobats like me and Fluttershy"
Also, there's almost no change in expression.
And the overall story doesn't seem to go anywhere
Was more of a meh comic for me.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed though that Fluttershy has a wingboner in the whole comic.
When are they gonna get to the fireworks factory?
ReplyDeleteGuys, you realize what this means?

@Mr.Brony
ReplyDeleteI don't think a bad comic is really an excuse to be offensive there.
...why is it always Germany that does the comics?
ReplyDeleteSeriously. This happened with The Lion King. Maybe it's just the fandoms I hang around in...
@Zarkanorf
ReplyDeleteAlready on top of it.
http://doctordapples.deviantart.com/#/d3i82yw
Let's put it bluntly: that sucked hard.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Cupcakes, the fanfic
ReplyDelete@Mr.Brony
ReplyDeletewatch it, you forget that homosexuals are real people.
yeah this was probably done by a team similar to the "oh no I am falling to my doom..." picture book.
ReplyDeleteMagical flower powder that makes you laugh?
ReplyDeleteWhy wasn't I invited?!
lol pinkie made hash cookies...
ReplyDeletebut if season two has a total lack of facial expression and as little effective characterization as this, I might just get bored, stop watching, and not buy hasbro's stuff *hint hint*.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeletethis was probably done by a team separate from the guys who work on the actual show, and probably don't know any more than a basic character description and the story of the comic itself.
There facial expressions don't change :|
ReplyDelete@Adrian Brony
ReplyDeleteYeah, this is likely. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have much more to work with than the generic clip-art pictures of the cast that are on most merchandise.
I suggest a caption contest.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all characters are OOC
ReplyDeleteAdd my voice to the choir saddened by the low quality of the production of the comic, while praising the translator (it couldn't have been easy having to work with such terrible stuff) and giggling at the "enchanted" cookies.
ReplyDeleteIn a certain alternate universe, this is top-quality pony fanfiction.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny how "magic flower powder" even if it isn't supposed to be a reference to any drug in particular, still is, bu its own description, a drug. so even if it ISN'T hash, it's still drugs in the cookie used to alter the mind.
ReplyDeletethe comic was drawn by Jutta Langer S.L.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.juttalangersl.com/WebJutta2/Home.html
It's NOT top quality fanfic in THIS universe!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this comic reads like the authors felt that they needed to include all the WORST tropes of little girl shows from the previous incarnations of MLP: Lack of conflict, biggest crisis is something trivial, indistinguishable personalities, lack of emoting from the Mane cast...
And oh yeah, Applejack's missing her hat for no good reason.
...Is it just me or was everybody acting really... G1-ish?
ReplyDeleteSeriously. That was a little bit unbearable...
Oh lord, Pinkie Pie knows magic. It won't be long before she gets dubbed the Occult Enchantress of the Dark.
ReplyDeleteSo the brony who translated and put these pages up wrote in his comment (apart from disassociating himself from the creation of them):
ReplyDelete"If one of the owner should see that and want that it goes offline, please say it and I will do so."
I'd think they'd want it taken down out of shear embarrassment. Seriously, the first page was bad enough with ponies with faces straight out of a clopfic. I could not have thought it could go down from there.
But it did.
@James Corck
ReplyDeleteAs the translation editor, I'm really pleased to hear that it's 100% accurate. Couldn't have done it without PinkamenaPie's gloss :D
There's no doubt in my mind that Hasbro did not expect anyone older then 5 to get their hands on that magazine T_T; So painfully bad.
I know the artwork is rather bad all around, but something about Twilight and Rarity both stick out to me. I can't place my finger on it, but they both seem... "off" for some reason. The eyes maybe?
ReplyDeleteWhy do Rarity and Fluttershy look like zombies?
ReplyDeleteWhere is Applejack's hat?
When did cocaine change its name to "magical flower powder"?
What...WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? SOMEONE WAS PAID TO WRITE THIS.
...you know what this needs? A fan fiction explanation.
ReplyDeleteSo help me Celestia, Pinkie Pie as a Columbian crack dealer WILL happen.
@ Zarkanorf
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really great idea.
Hey Seth! Caption contest! I can't believe we haven't done one yet!
mwahahaha
ReplyDeletei think its time for a little fun
*evil grin*
Well. Weird comic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for translating it though.
Being German, I'm just thankful it didn't involve David Hasselhoff and glass coffee tables.
ReplyDeleteWhile the traslation was great, and it gave us the existence of this comic (which I assume most of us didn't know), it wasn't really that good... actually, it reminded me of the earlier generations.
ReplyDeleteSomepony have it in original German language?
ReplyDeletePAGE 3 - "These apple cookies will leave a super-special effect on the judges"
ReplyDeleteLol...the translation makes it seem like the cookies are drugged...probably was supposed to mean 'impress' or something.
PAGE 4 - "laughing fits", "she enchanted them"
Lolwut? But...but earth ponies don't have magic.
PAGE 5 - "Kooky Cookies", "magical flower powder"
HOLY FUCK. Pinkie Pie...just baked hash cookies...in official MLP:FiM material...
ROFLMAOMFGTFO!!! Best Comic. Ever.
^AGREED! even if the expressions are kind of robotic, pinkie is geting the whole gang baked to the point of laughing fits? now THATs some magical friendship right there
ReplyDeleteOh, and doctor dapples? just the one page bro? that was hilarious! more plzzz!
Fallenpenguin and me did the translation of this comic (and the one before that) a long time ago. Should have given Sethisto a clue. ^^
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you can find them on ponychan. http://www.ponychan.net/chan/merch/res/13105.html
This is so terribly awesome.
ReplyDeleteNeeds more Lauren Faust
ReplyDeleteguys, pinkie totally made pot brownies, er, cookies.
ReplyDeleteThey all seem terribly out of character, aside from pinkie. Also, it's poorly drawn. GET IT TOGETHER, GERMANY
ReplyDeleteFunny as hell in how flawed it was. Twilight's like :D when she has her problem of not being able to write anything. Also, pinkie laced the cupcakes with some "special ingredient"... XD first thing that came to my mind was roofies. Dying of laughter XD
ReplyDeletepun intended that comic was a little flat lol
ReplyDeletePot cookies
ReplyDeleteLOL at page 5
ReplyDeletePot cookies are now semi-canon
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWell yeah, she's :Ding because she's drugged up on cookies.
Looks like the cookies have been...Spiked!
ReplyDelete...wait.
So any time I make pot cookies from now on, I know what to call them.
ReplyDeleteIt was awkward to read all the five pages from start to finish: there's lack of distinct expressions (it's what makes the show exceptional), trivial plot, and they're out of character.
ReplyDeleteThis comic needs to be about 20% cooler.
ReplyDeleteSpike could not be giving less of a fuck than he is in that comic.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDelete"Super-special effect"
That was quite literal. It was not "impress" in any way shape or form. Besides which, Fluttershy repeats Pinkie's description almost word-for-word on page four, so how could it have been anything else? :)
"Kooky Cookies" - originally Kicher-Kekse, glossed as "Giggle cookies", I preferred to go with the alliteration you see in the comic.
Sorry I'm nit-picky. Translation theory is interesting, and you deserve to know the decisions made! (Even if the comic was downright awful.)
My Little Lobotomy! o.o
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, Judging by how short and overly simplistic this was, this must be intended for 4 or 5 year olds :p Its a foreign comic and the little booklet that came with the gift set in the US was even more half-assed when it comes down to it. :p I won't choose to be insulted just yet~
This is like what we all thought the show would be before actually seeing it. preeety lame. It dosen`t help that they don`t have any good facial expressions.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy looks like she has Downs :(
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty bad but at least it's pony related.
ReplyDeleteTHE. LAST. FUCKING. COMIC.
ReplyDeleteTwilight REALLY ran ALL the way to Canterlot to tell Princess Celestia that?
AND WHY WAS SPIKE IN RARITY'S BED? WHICH WAS ACTUALLY TWILIGHT'S BED?
asjhsakhdja.
And since when did RBD talk to animals?
>fourth comic
ReplyDelete>spike sleeping with Rarity
>mfw

@blooblahblee
ReplyDeleteOr maybe teleported?
Seth, the link for Big Decision Page 2 is wrong.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what a BAD comics, so BAD they're AWESOME!
They're so hilariously bad, it's good! More please!
ReplyDeleteWhat were the original comic creators on when they did these? I want some of what they're smoking.
I also feel kinda bad for the team that had to translate this.
2$ on somepony already pointed it out:
ReplyDeleteIT'S OFFICIAL, HASBRO SUPPORT MARIGHUANA COOKIES!
Wow. Just... wow.
ReplyDeleteNo-one gave the creators the memo that MLP was meant to be good now, I guess.
Yeah, it's the link to the image of the thumbnail, which probably means that Seth accidentally clicked "Copy Image Location" instead of "Copy Link Location" when getting the link for this post.
ReplyDeleteThis is the proper link to A Big Decision part 2.
oooh shit Spike's getting it in last comic!
ReplyDeleteAnd so, Pinkie Pie slipped Joker Venom into her cookies as revenge for .. I dunno, it's Pinkie, it coulda been anything!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that in every panel spike shows up in he looks high....oh wait i forgot pinkie made has cookies
ReplyDeletePhil Ken Sebben says: Ha ha ha! Pot cookies!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so terrible that it's simply amazing.
ReplyDeletePage 2 of big decisions is borken.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this mag in a store a I didn't buy it because they figures are bad and what good stories can you make in 5 pages. Can .be only random stuff
ReplyDelete@Cheer Song
ReplyDeleteOh, don't get me wrong, you did an awesome job, and I realized it was literal once I got to the end! I just typed my thought process while going through the pages in my post, I wasn't trying to critique. When I first read that on page 3, I didn't think there was any way in HELL that they would actually have Pinkie drugging the cookies. Obviously, my assumption was wrong!
Seriously, thanks for sharing this with us! It was an awesome find!
the second page of big decision is the wrong link
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, everything they is so stiff and intense. I love the German language so much!
ReplyDelete@ZAquanimus
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's been pointed out, and as I've said before...
Proper Link
Oh the art is so terrible! What happened to Twilight's face!?!
ReplyDeleteAlso, this isn't just for Germany - the sets with (pink) Celestia, AppleJack, Twilight, Pinkie Pie,and Spike sold in the US have the same art! And the stories are just as bad.
...I'm going to redub that last comic as soon as I possibly can. Actually, you know what? That's gonna be my friend-off entry. I'm gonna stick those in GIMP or something and make some new captions, and that'll be my entry. Lock it in.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Rarity sleeping in Twilight's bed?
ReplyDelete"Dat Flank" is the ONLY thing on Spike's mind. They STOPPED THE FRIGGIN SUN because he was stalking Rarity, WATCHING HER SLEEP!!! Then it's all like, "whatevers man, I'ma stare at dat flank some more!"
ReplyDeleteWow does German Spike have a truly one track mind.
We already have to deal with Pink Chinese Trollestia, and now we got ourselves German Staker Spike.
Read it all, just one little thing: WTF?!
ReplyDeleteForgive me for using tropes, but I have to hang a lampshade on this one: Someone didn't do his/her research. Have the actual makers of the comic (Not the translators, I know they didn't do it) seen the show?
In any case, my mind went wild in the 4th comic, just what kind of beauty sleep did Rarity had with Spike? Furthermore, why in Twilight's bed? Furthermore, why am I thinking so much into this? ... You know what? Nevermind. I'll go lay down.
Now someone HAS to write a scary Grimdark fic about Stalker Spike...
ReplyDeleteWriting: Terrible (yes even in German it would be) Art: Adorable
ReplyDeletecomments > comic, you can't argue that's not true xD
ReplyDeleteYes, a comic about Pinkie Pie getting the main cast high while trying to drug the judges into unfairly giving Rainbow Dash the prize. Ehm... moral of this story?
ReplyDeleteThe link for Big Decision Page 2 needs to be fixed.
ReplyDeleteThey're a lot better if you imagine everypony with a German accent.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else freaked out at how the mane cast look when they stand on their hind legs at the end of the first 3 comics? It doesn't look right.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Decent comics in any case. Could be better.
>The Great Search 4
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Celestia? You're going to KEEP THE FUCKING SUN UP AT NIGHT because your prize pupil asked you to? You banished your own sister to the moon when SHE did it.
These are SO far into "so bad, it's good" territory, Rainbow Dash is on a collision course with a plane full of snakes, and Van Hellsing is trying to fit Rarity for a wicker helmet filled with bees.
ReplyDeleteSo Spike was in bed with Rarity that whole time?
ReplyDelete...
You go Spike!
Page 3 of The Great Search is missing Twilight's dialogue in the last panel.
ReplyDeleteThis version doesn't have the mistake: http://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/21751
I kinda like the visual style to be honest. It doesn't have to be comic-dynamic to look "good". The lack of facial expressions is probably more down to the inanity of the story than the art itself.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of older childrens comics, yet almost perfectly renders the flash style of the show in that same way. I'm impressed.
These comics are so bad they are absolutely amazing. I haven't laughed so hard in quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI'm German - I'd kind of like to see the originals actually to fully appreciate the sheer badness. I have a feeling the english translation only serves to dilute it to my eyes (could also be that it's because the translations were done by someone non-terrible).
ReplyDeleteAre these in order of publication? I like to think what went down was someone at the higher-ups accidentally caught a glimpse at "Secret Mission" and its horrific chair-sitting, soccer-playing frankenponies and personally went down to the slave pens: "PONIES DO NOT HAVE HAND AND FEET, ALSO THE ORANGE ONE HAS A GODDAMN HAT! ONE MORE LIKE THIS AND WE WILL FEED YOU YOUR SCHWANZSTUCKERS" (not actually German, by the way) I only wish they had also added "Also, the ponies are supposed to be awesome now" and let their oppressed folk watch the cartoon, but that would have actually brought some joy into their sad oppressed lives, and that wouldn't do for a soulless corporation of evil.
Also: Hasbro Germany, why does your website still only have the terrible ponies? You suck.
...what the hell am i reading?
ReplyDelete@Silfir Oh Crap don't remind me of the Hasbro Germany website, i made the mistake and watched one of the cartoons they have there! It was terrible beyond imagination
ReplyDeleteThis is disturbing ._. lacing cupcakes and spike watching rarity sleep. NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THIS?
ReplyDeleteEVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH THIS
ReplyDeleteThat's what makes it so funny
@Hikuro14
ReplyDeleteIt's called Meth!
It's likely there's a lot lost in translation, but I have to say, this is one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteWhatever asshole at Hasbro, who thought it would be a good idea to put their stamp of approval on this piece of shit, needs to be fired!
I hope if there's official U.S. comics in the future, the artist better draw somepony OTHER than the Mane 6! Really don't mind if it's side characters or just background filler, it's better than having Ponyville almost a ghost town.
ReplyDeleteAlso, at least change the scenery when the story said there's dusk approaching.
i...i cannot read this. this is too bad.
ReplyDeletei actually saw it in a store too. what the hell is wrong with you germany. you have the toys, you have THIS abomination but you don't air the actual show? noone's gonna want to watch it if you continue to alienate people like this.
D:
ReplyDeleteya lo lei
y por cosas como esas es que la franquisia fue mala en generaciones pasadas...
I love these because they are so awful.
ReplyDeleteYes so awful it is good.
ReplyDeleteBut it has been proven in the latest poll that Germans are the least funny.. while the US is the most funny.
I actually found the magazine these appear in! I'm tempted to buy one for science now.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess that's what happens when you put the brains of the original ponies in the bodies of the new ponies... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteIs Panini responsible for this? If so: Panini, stick to making sticker albums and not crappy comics! xD
If this is translated, there must be a German original. Where is it? I speak German. Everytime I search for it, I end up here!
ReplyDeleteFluttershy as Navi?
ReplyDelete'Hey! Lesen'
