All news after the break!
Brony Facebook Ad
This new ad is popping up over on facebook lately. It's pretty awesome to see the hub fully embracing the term "brony". I am really psyched for season two.
I know a lot of people are worried that including some of our fanon may ruin the show, but as long as they do it with the maximum level of subtlety , we should be fine. I don't know how many of you were around when Derpy first popped up, but the response was unbelievable, and positive.
Facepunch Bans Ponies
A huge following of bronies found themselves out on the street after moderators at the Facepunch forums decided pony was now a bannable offense. Where have I seen this before? Anyhow, refugees from the site have a new forum building up, which you can find here.
FiM animator spotted
A storyboard arist from the Friendship is Magic animation team has popped up. Not a whole lot to say about it, but feel free to give her your support at her blog! (Don't raid it with stupid questions though!)
Jason Thiessen (FiM Supervising Director) Posts on Cartoon Brew
I am not sure how many of you have been following Cartoon Brew. I just learned about it's existence two days ago, but apparently it's a pretty big hub for this stuff. Here is a direct quote from a comment he left over there...
"As Director of the show, I know first hand how many sleepless nights and blood sweat and tears go into making the show for all involved. Yes it has corporate money behind it and yes it’s a mainstream commercial property, but does that mean we shouldn’t try to make it the best show we can? Good entertainment doesn’t have a demographic, anything can be awesome if the people making it simply try. I know it’s not perfect, but we do the best we can with what we have to work with, which is all anybody can do. I for one am proud that there is such a strong fan-base for the show. The worst thing would be if no one noticed it at all. Thank you Bronies! (and I include girls and boys of all ages in that)"Pinkie Pie's Print-Out Mask Pops Up on Hasbro's Website.
This is the mask from "Party of One" I'm too tired to write anything witty about it, you can download and use it here.
FiM Game Petition
Another thingy for you guys to all /sign. That can be found Here!
Flankbook Leaving Beta / Synchtube Celebration
The social networking pony website Flankbook has officially exited beta and is celebrating with a Synchtube marathon tomorrow at 8EST. You can find the channel for it here!
Equestria Daily Alexa Rankings
Apparently this community is getting pretty huge! Equestria Daily is now the 37,070th most visited website in the USA, and 133,734th most visited in the world. I am not sure how significant that is, but I'm sure there are billions of websites... so hopefully its cool? Anyway you can find that, as well as all sorts of neat statistics here!
Seattle News Blog Posts About the Interview
Not much else to say! You can find the link here.
1000 Posts of RP
Apparently RPers were driving Cereal crazy in comments... so I gave them a spot to do it at, and they ran with it.
And that is it for this issue of the Nightly Roundup! I didn't have time to dig for a drawfriend post today... so expect a big one tomorrow assuming I can find time for that.

ReplyDelete*Ahem*
ReplyDeleteAgain Seth?
I'm seriously starting to think you're the spawn of Gabe Newell...
Our forum aint that, our forum is www.broni.es
ReplyDeleteFacepunch is a terrible forum anyway.
ReplyDeleteAlso the link is broken.
im so sleep....
ReplyDeleteWHY AM I UP!!!
Oh right, cause Luna is up.
Luna <3
Never heard of Facepunch before, what kind of forum is that?
ReplyDeleteWell that's a douchey thing for Facepunch to do. Oh well, I'm sure this new place will be cooler anyway. I'd barely even heard of Facepunch before this post.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that Facebook ad is totally rad. I'ma go like the Hub now.
The geographic split on those stats is kind of interesting. Roughly 40% USA, 20% Germany, 20% Finland, 10% UK.
ReplyDelete"I know a lot of people are worried that including some of our fanon may ruin the show, but as long as they do it with the maximum level of subtlety , we should be fine."
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!
If anyone can do subtlety, the FiM team can. 77% of the references went so far over my head that I wasn't even aware that a reference had been made.
There are around 4.3 billion unique ip addresses (that will change soon) so yes, that is awesome.
ReplyDeleteSilly Seth, that's not how you spell "Griffon the Brush-off."
ReplyDeleteYou've got to be bucking kidding me Seth...
ReplyDelete37,070th most visited website in the US, and 133,734th in the world?
ReplyDeleteThat's incredible! Especially since its up against search engines, news, social media, and a glut of porn sites.
For comparison, Google and Facebook are #1 and 2.
Oh, and...
ReplyDelete>133,734th most visited in the world
>133,734
>1337
Hehe...
Yeah Pinkie Pie wore that in the Gilda episode...
ReplyDelete@Thattagen
ReplyDeleteYou didn't take it in the right direction...
>133,734
>1337 34
*clop clop*
I hate Facebook. I have not logged in for 2 weeks and I don't miss it. Its almost as worthless as Twitter
ReplyDelete"we do the best we can with what we have to work with, which is all anybody can do." I read that as anypony... heh.
ReplyDeleteSo did the Facepunch mods came up with a somewhat legible reason for banning you guys or it's just the usual "eeeww girls cartoon has cooties I ban u".
ReplyDeleteEh. Facepunch has been banning for pony stuff outside the designated for a while. A new megathread will pop up when season 2 starts. People are only banned if they post pony stuff where it's not allowed.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIn short the majority of the forum did not like the idea of us being around, in fact they despised us.
Moderators would mostly ignore any trolling from other members that happened in our thread and a very large stigma from other members against us.
Our thread gradually decended into an un-moderated cesspool to the point that moderators were just sick to death of getting reports from our thread (there was a LOT of ignored trolling going on in the final days.)
One of the more reasonable moderators came into our Steam chat and stated outright that our thread was on the verge of being closed anyway; we were all sick of the trolling happening in the thread so a large number of us requested for the thread to be locked for a little while to give people a chance to cool off.
The original plan was for us to bring the thread back when there was a significant amount of information regarding Season 2 for us to discuss.
However the forum's owner- Garry- ruled that Ponies were to be banned outright from now on. He also called us a name :(
So yeah, in an attempt to keep the community of Facepunch Bronies alive we founded Pony Central (www.broni.es.) That's not to say we wouldn't be accepting of people from other places too, but there you go!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteNah, Garry said that we weren't to make any new threads. Not even when Season 2 starts.
Well I hope he like the new downloads for his mod once they get made.
ReplyDeleteBasically Facepunch decided that fanfics and pony toys are not really the series discussion, so until season 2 comes they think we'd end up discussing "not ponies", which is what the rest of the forum is for.
ReplyDeleteSure whatever, www.broni.es is better anyway.
I guess Cartoonbrew posted an article that disparaged grown men who enjoy the show. Found out thanks to Randy Milholland (of Something Positive), who tweeted about the hypocrisy of deriding people who enjoy cartoons on a cartoon-centric blog.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that article is why/where Jason Thiessen made that comment?
The funny thing is, though, if you were a brony, you'd already know how to watch MLP everyday.
ReplyDelete@Captain British
ReplyDeleteI remember the fall of the thread. In fact, I made one of the final posts. I did not know that garry banned ponies permanently. When did this happen?
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteSetieki linked a chat log in which Garry insulted us and basically gave permission for the moderators to ban anyone who made a new MLP thread.
But really, we weren't welcome on Facepunch. Moving to our own forum was a wise move, I have no desire to stay where I am not wanted.
@Lovecraft
ReplyDeleteIt was basically the person who posted the link to the WIRED article and pulled a quote from the person with Asperger saying the show taught him about socializing (it's really touching to hear that) and said something along the lines of "And no, this isn't an article from The Onion". Basically, he was being an a-hole.
Millions down, 37,069 to go.
ReplyDelete~Scratch
For those of you a bit confused, you need to register on the forums to watch the rest of the forums.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteActually I disabled that just so that the EqD chaps could actually have a look at the forum without registering.
For now, anyway!
I was totally about to post about how you didn't post the image of the ad, but then I realized I had Adblock on and even though it wasn't an actual ad but a repost of one, it still did it.
ReplyDeleteSilly BronyMike.
Also, Griffon the Brush-Off, not Party of One.
Awesome nightly roundup, though.
If it's the "Nightly" roundup, shouldn't it be a picture of Luna or even that owl instead of Celestia?
ReplyDelete>nightly
ReplyDelete>Celestia
The fuck.
Other than some of the Garry's Mod stuff that I have to go to Facepunch for, I detest visiting that forum. Color me unsurprised that this happened.
ReplyDeleteI knew FP would get themselves into some trouble that would split them in two sometime. Who knew it'd be ponies?
ReplyDeleteBeware, internet communities of all walks and likes! For inbreeding of ideas, that is what'll really kill you.
Celestia handled the nights for a millenium, surely she can handle this one too. :/
ReplyDelete>This is the mask from "Party of One" I'm too tired to write anything witty about it, you can download and use it here.
ReplyDeleteAw, Seth, I understand you're tired, but c'mon. Its from Griffon the Brush-Off
@Lovecraft
ReplyDeleteActually, when the show premiered, they wrote an article attacking the show, saying it had brought about the end of creator-driven TV animation (in other words, Lauren Faust had sold herself out by working on it).
I love Jayson Thiessen.
ReplyDeleteWell according to netcraft there are currently over 182 million sites. So I'd say its quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteRole-playing?
ReplyDeleteI like role-playing as much as the next person, but I usually don't go out of my way to do it.
But to each his own I suppose.
OMIGOSH! *hugs* thank you Seth THANK YOU!
ReplyDeletehmmm that explains that then. *trots off*
sucks about facepunch personally never heard of it before though
ReplyDeleteI am happy to say on the other hand the forum I vist is now like 75% bronys (going by all the pony related avatars anyway)
Glad to see Gary still is an asshat.
ReplyDelete@Ivan2294
ReplyDeleteActually, we're doing this mostly to write that fanfic...
But to each pigman his own I guess...
C wut I did thar?
EQ queries:
ReplyDelete"Steven Magnet"
"Pony waifu"
"derpy hooves minecraft"
"great celestia of equestria"
"pinkie pied piper"
"wingboner"
"fluttermac"
EQ might start getting its own "pony effect" soon - any link posted on EQ will get overwhelmed with traffic. The deskop ponies site had 10x the traffic after being posted, which has died back down since.
I visited the Facepunch forums many months ago when things were somewhat tolerable and when the MLP thread there had mod support from at least two mods I think. Personally, I think things started going down hill as the MLP thread became more of a chat thread instead of a thread talking about the show. You should have seen how fast that thread moved when it was in pure chat mode. This eventually led to the threads being placed in the Chat subforum instead of the TV subforum.
ReplyDeleteAfter that point mod support dropped off and they seemed to be more irritated with MLP posters. It was at about that point that I stopped following the Facepunch thread. I admit you guys had a larger number of trolls than I have seen on other forums which really sucks. Best of luck on your new forum though!
First the TV Spot, now the Facebook ad. I love MLP, I love the production crew, and I LOVE the Hub!
ReplyDeleteI feel better than ever about resubscribing to cable just to pick up The Hub for Season 2. I seriously respect them for this. The least I can do is show a little love back!! :D
I love Mr. Thiessen. He came to PonyChan once just to gush about how much he and the crew are thankful for all of our love and support. We are thankful for every drop of blood, sweat and tears that goes into this. I have nothing but respect for that man. Everything any member of the production crew has said anywhere leaves me feeling that the show is in absolutely capable hands.
Random thought...dude. I can't wait for Season 2. Can you imagine when the first air dates are announced/discovered? The Internet will explode, and then explode again. That moment when the first episode airs....
SO MUCH PONY.
Thanks for all the news!
ReplyDeleteNow I'll be sure never to register at Facepunch :P
Who would have thought that the rank of this blog would be... great among all websites?
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest. I don't think the game petition is a good idea. Yes, ponies are great. I think we can agree on that. What whoever's running the petition seems to be forgetting, however, is that it would be a licensed game, and we gamers all (or many of us, at least) know how those tend to turn out. Especially if the team making the game would be anything like whoever makes the toys... *shudder*
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone always think the sky is falling? Seriously, people create problems out of nothing and try to find fault with everything.
ReplyDelete@Torrential Rains
ReplyDeleteI honestly had no idea you lot were involved in a much greater plot. To be honest, had I known this, I would've jumped in as nightmare moon long ago. But, that's what I get for not reading the comments.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete... Are you talking about me? I'm not doing that; I just happen to know that games based off TV shows and movies don't tend to turn out well.
If you guys REALLY want them to make a game, then go ahead and try the petition. I just wouldn't get my hopes up.
Just to explain, Facepunch didn't ban ponies. It was decided that the thread for it would not have any actual or real content until the next season started. In other words, it would have been a bunch of off-topic bullshitting, which can be a bannable offense depending on the sub-forum.
ReplyDelete
