ON WITH THE NEWS!
After the break!
Yahoo Reports Bronydom, Fails at Image
Another news organization has jumped on the "report about ponies because everyone else is" bandwagon. Yahoo has stepped up the podium with pretty much the same thing the last 6 have said, including a link to a random youtube pony-ized movie trailer. I'm pretty sure there is a template floating around the internet that these guys use. You can find the article here, complete with it's g1 hippopotamus pony header.
Laser Engraved Custom Medallions Now Available
Another pony merchandise shop has popped up. This one rolls with a relatively large selection of laser burned medallions.
The majority of the 57 Medallions available are pony, though there are a few mixed in from other cartoons/anime.
You can find the shop here!
Heart Attack Inducing Flutterbunny Up For Grabs, Are You Pony Enough to Go For It?
Eneha over on Deviant Art is raffling off a clay Fluttershy in a bunny costume. It looks like each ticket to enter is going for 1$, with a maximum of ten per person and a bonus free one with the purchase of five. If you are interested, you can find the mane website here, or more information on her deviant art page here!
Bronies Invade German Streets, Pedestrians Blame Hooves On Sudden Increase in Sidewalk Mortality Rates
Another crazy brony has bought himself a custom license plate dedicated to Friendship is Magic. You guys are making it really difficult to resist going out and getting one of these for my car. G&PTrixie maybe? Can licence plates have & signs on them?
Team Fortress 2 Whips Player-base Into Shape With Riding Crops
Not pony enough you say!? Well just because the show doesn't make use of riding crops, doesn't mean everypony doesn't have one tucked away in their dressers! Besides, this is the daily update! It's made for these types of highly unlikely correlations. Anyway, you can find Valve's possible shout out to bronies everywhere on this page!
Sims 3 Pony Mod
Another game crossover has popped up! This time it's the full mane cast as humans as a downloadable mod for Sims 3! For those of you who are into that game, you can find it here. Now someone design some real pony models for it so I have a reason to buy it!
Another Game Company Comes Out of the Brony Closet
It's short, it's buried, but its there for everyone to see. Near the bottom of this page, the creators of games such as Blaz Blue and various JRPG's drop the following quote when asked what game they are most anticipating:
"Ninja Gaiden [III], Bioshock: Infinite, the new My Little Pony game… I mean did I say that out loud?
That might be cool, actually. Liking My Little Pony is cool these days."I can't wait until that statement is straight up fact. You can find the interview here!
Equestria Daily News
How the queues work
A lot of people ask me how the hell the queue's work on this site. Most of you who have emailed me probably received a response something similar to "added to queue!" with terrible grammar or misspellings abound.
Primary Updates
You have probably noticed that most of the stuff on this site happens hourly. This is where the PMVs/Fanfics/Drawfriends/ect are posted. My goal is to give everything a chance to shine at the top of the page for a bit. It's what separates this site from youtube/deviantart/fanfiction.net where things are lost to a flood of updates. (Technically this was supposed to go up at 11:00, but it took a while)
Story Updates/Channel Updates/Podcast Updates/Random stuff
These fall into the :30's. I can't schedule Updates like I can with everything else, so be prepared for some variation here. The "Update Queue" is where everything for this goes, and I periodically drop them off as the days goes on. It does sometimes get backed up, forcing me to do double updates (as you saw about 10 minutes ago with those two stories)
Breaking News
This can happen at ANY time. If some crazy season two revelation pops up, or Jayson Thiessen tweets that the studio caught on fire and everything was lost, it goes up immediately regardless of the time! Obviously covering a single cartoon is pretty niche, so there aren't nearly as many of these as I'd like, but they do happen, usually once a day or so.
Everything else/Fighting with Cereal/Trixie takes over___
It just "happens".
Pre Reader Slots Open Again
If you are interested in pre-reading/reviewing stories before they are posted, I have a few slots open again. It's a volunteer position, so you aren't really forced into anything particular. A quick warning warning though; the conversations that happen in pre-reader "chat" can be pretty... overboard, so if saucy images in Drawfriend Stuff throw you for a loop, you might want to avoid it!
Requirements: At least 3 stories on the site with a 4+ star rating.
And that is all for the Nightly News Update. I'm going to try doing these a bit earlier so I can actually sleep at night. (Assuming I don't get distracted by some amazing reason to make a banner or stuck reading a 30k word fanfiction)

Wow, a nightly roundup before midnight? Getting ahead of schedule tonight!
ReplyDeleteThe comments on Yahoo are pissing me off.
ReplyDeleteEVERYONE, LOG IN AND SHOW THEM WHAT WE'RE MADE OF.

ReplyDeleteNever seen a "&" on a license plate so I doubt it.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOr we could accept their point of view that it's impossible. Might be easier for all of us.
Hey, being patient is hard, but I've found it pays off! The spacing between posts does help a lot, I think I have read and reviewed more stories here than ff.net precisely because they get a chance to shine here. It's 20% cooler than other sites because of that.
ReplyDelete"...or Jayson Thiessen tweets that the studio caught on fire and everything was lost..."
ReplyDeleteKNOCK. ON. WOOD.
wooo Seth, I'll be interested in the Pre-reader spot. I like reading ponies.
ReplyDeleteAlso, for the Yahoo thing. Im actually quite shocked to see that the majority of people had NO idea that we exisited. I guess once it was posted on a REAL, and Dependable site. We finally get noticed.
Tell me what I need to do for the pre-reader seth!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAlso, why do you keep linking to these news stories? Nothing good will come of this.
ReplyDeleteFuck yeah, ponies!
ReplyDelete@BluMeino Agreed, just looking at the grammar/spelling on some of the posts tells me that the effort would be wasted.
ReplyDeleteActually now that I read the article i'mokaywiththis. It's not the best reporting (as they really just cite another article) but at least it isn't a bunch of baseless accusations of pedophilia and mass fraud.
ReplyDeleteyahoo??
ReplyDeleteyahoo isn't important
and damn that fluttershy gave me diabetes
also what's wrong with the twilight and the rainbow dash from that sims mod they look scary
What bothers me is that these stories always make it sounds like ANY GUY ANY WHERE will suddenly love ponies. No, I'd say it's more people who are already involved with some form of nerd or geek culture will be more susceptible. The show didn't spread because we all subscribed to the Hub, it's because it spread over internet forums and imageboards on geeky sites.
ReplyDeleteOh, man, the comments on that Yahoo article are unlike anything I've seen. I've never seen so many people outright DISBELIEVING the news that MLP is so popular.
ReplyDeleteBut then, I can't shake the feeling that going to Yahoo for your news is like barely dipping your toes into this grand thing called the internet, so I suppose they haven't really been around.
Yahoo story is listed under Love+Sex.
ReplyDeletelolwut?
Love you, Seth. <3
ReplyDeleteThat said, the comments are a good laugh. Here are some gems.
ReplyDelete" I can't IMAGINE my husband watching "My Little Pony." He's a bit busy providing for his family, and mowing the lawn, and changing oil.... you know..MAN STUFF. The only time I could see him watching this, would not be because he wanted to, but because his granddaughter asked him to watch with her.
LOVE my MANLY man!!!!
"
"Why is it today's younger women are obsessed with making boys like girl things? All of a sudden after thousands of years of men being allowed to men, they are not acceptable unless they like girly things and having girly things shoved at them. I personally love my real MAN. I married a a great man who is into manly things and is comfortable being himself."
"I don't believe this is an actual "trend" for a minute, but it makes me long for the re-emergence of manly men."
"Boo to girly men. I love manly men!!!"
"But as an aside, WHY DO THEY HAVE TO ANIME-IZE EVERYTHING???? I can't stand this show (never could), but at least the animation wasn't that bad... are all American artists going Japanese, or what?"
"Can we please, at least keep the GOOD animation? You know, where they look like what they are supposed to? Like the Clone Wars and their square heads. Please!"
"If you really believe that guys are sitting around watching My Little Pony - then I have a bridge to sell you. How ridiculous."
I do like, however, that the article made specific mention of the fact that the new show is, you know, more gender-neutral and contains pop culture references. They didn't just say "They're watching a little girls' show" and leave it at that.
ReplyDelete@Anon at 11:31
ReplyDeleteIt's probably just a bunch of overly anxious (and most likely white) suburban moms posting most of that stuff, they're the only ones who seem to care enough about that kind of thing.
The picture used in the article, though, that pisses ME off.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I'm getting the feeling that its a lot of the same people. Especially the women who keep bragging about their "Manly men". Gag me, its probably a skin muscle milk chugging 14 year old punk fuck commenting with different accounts.
I dare someone to try and figure out what the fuck this one post from their comments section was trying to say. I mean it's just such horrible fail at English I'm not even sure it could ever form a coherent thought.
ReplyDelete"tis is hilareius so what hppenng tis us my college so of couese Im missing I wash two so there weke up found higher lost octually will gooodness so how to telkl when someone doesn't them okay fall two right Inever becoming to sombody to see ok do you know keck you tring how are you to day to by enjoy yourself with your familiy mail me whenyou chanced okay having fun with own fanmily and frends..."
Well the Yahoo article was a heck of a lot less demeaning and negative then most of the others that have gone around. It's just a shame that most of Yahoo's readers are narrow minded folk that like to hate on anything they can (Honestly the things I see in the comments sometimes are just ludicrous).
ReplyDeleteFun fact: The internet has its share of morons.
ReplyDeleteNot that those who go on EqD are morons.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhen PSN first went down I googled the error message I got. I found a yahoo question thread sixteen pages long, EVERY SINGLE RESPONSE WAS WRITTEN LIKE THAT.
The comments on Yahoo articles are ALWAYS incredibly stupid, sometimes even worse than Youtube comments. Please don't argue with them! I implore you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I predicted a terrible Yahoo article like two weeks ago. Hahaha...
I tried posting a rant.
ReplyDelete"All of you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
First and foremost, bronies are made up entirely of creepy adult males. These people don't spent every second of their time playing with ponies. They're only here to enjoy Friendship is Magic, the newest cartoon series of the franchise. But these aren't freaks and weirdos. These are perfectly normal people who live perfectly normal lives. They simply aren't afraid to like anything out there. These men are truly manly men. Real men are secure with they're masculinity, and they don't feel threatened by a bunch of cute ponies. It takes guts to willingly try out the first episode. It takes a real man to express his interests, whether they're socially accepted or not. Real men aren't afraid. Bronies are not afraid.
Now, why do we love this show, exactly? It's My Little Pony. How could men possibly like it. Well, I'll tell you.
Friendship is Magic is the most recent adaption to the My Little Pony series. You know how it is, pink ponies with frilly manes you can brushy-brushy all day long. I know, sounds lame. That is not what FiM is all about, though. The series has been developed by Lauren Faust, a veteran story artist for Powerpuff Girls and the old head writer of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. On the outside, it looks like a big cash in for the franchise, since all toy-centric cartoons seem to be like that. But that's not what FiM is like at all. Lauren Faust goes above and beyond our expectations. The show is for little girls, so you'd expect something like Dora the Explorer. That's not the case. Lauren Fraust's writing reaches out to everyone and anyone who has the balls to try out the first episode. The show is enjoyable by anyone. Not just little girls, but as you can see, grown men. We like this show for a reason, and I could go on and on about why. Excellent writing. Charming artwork. Legitimate humor. Lovable characters. Legitimate moral lessons. These are just a few things FiM brings to the table. Lauren Fraust takes an old child's toyline and creates something new and enjoyable. Something even grown men enjoy.
Actually, most bronies absolutely hate the older My Little Pony content, like the poster in the article. We're only into Friendship is Magic, and for good reason. If any one of you are truly secure with you manhood, you would give this a chance. Think of it as a test. But the real test is to see if you have the guts to openly express your interests. That's what we do. That's why we aren't gay, people."
But it looks like Yahoo doesn't like rants.
Butchered comments and narrow minded rage comments are pretty much commonplace on Yahoo. I'd love to have everyone swarm Yahoo and show them that we're a legit fanbase, but I get the feeling that it won't turn out nearly as well as it did at other sites lol.
ReplyDeleteguys, if you look at the article with un-biased eyes you will see that (although not in depth) it really is not biased at all.
ReplyDelete^True, but it's the comments that are being a bit unfair and intolerant. "My husband is too busy providing for his family, mowing the lawn...like a real man," etc.
ReplyDelete> Sims 3 Pony Mod
ReplyDelete*gasp*! I've been waiting for th-
> They're still humanized.
Oh well, it's the thought that counts.
>How the queues work
Hehe, I submitted a piece of fanfic a couple days ago and have been nervous how will it will be received. (It was originally going to be a grimdark comedy but I scaled it back a bit.) Hasn't shown up yet, so I wasn't sure if that was a bad sign. However, from the looks of things, I'd say you've got tons of fanfic waiting to be dropped and I just need to be patient.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteSilly anon, if you watch a cartoon there's no time for stuff like that.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete"First and foremost, bronies are made up entirely of creepy adult males"
I think yahoo saved our asses...
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing the studio is right next door to the Fire Station.
@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteIt is decided. Yahoo is the bane of all intelligent life on the internet and the crap that attracts flies.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeletetl;dr, the Yahoos on Yahoo won't get it.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis is mostly true from what I have seen.
You get one or two good answers in yahoo answers for every thirty mentally retarded responses.
Anyhow, color me surprised that people get news from yahoo.
On second the look, the article actually isn't that bad. Just that they spelled brony wrong, and picked the wrong image, and didn't go quite enough in-depth. Because whenever you report that "guys like my Little Pony," you'll probably need a few pages extra.
ReplyDeleteBut why is Yahoo filled with idiots? Sigh...
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete(and this is where my bias comes in lol) yeah people like that are probably like my ex-girlfriend's mom, overweight and sitting on a couch at home all day everyday
I have yet to find a Yahoo article where the comments are NOT retarded.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm awake for this one!
ReplyDelete@Filiecs
ReplyDeleteYeah, seriously. I'd rather not have this guy be our spokesperson, thanks. More than one gender in this fandom, buddy, and it'd be nice to point that out to, you know, help let people know we're sane.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeletePersonally glad your rant got eaten. I'm 20, so I'm not a creepy adult, thanks.
Oh god, his rant got posted. We're fucked,.
ReplyDeleteTypos are a Killer, hm? haha, might be better that Yahoo didn't take that one...I can see the comments already.
ReplyDelete@Aurikine
ReplyDeleteNope, his inane rambling that paints us in a poor light and ignores the fact that girls like the show too got posted.
inb4 everyone jumps on this and takes the first sentence out of context.
Oh gawd, is there no edit button? Can we get it reported off? Fack.
ReplyDeleteI tried to post correcting someone that Japanese animation stole the large eyes from western animation, but it didn't go through so whatever.
ReplyDeletePoor bronies. I think the men in this community are astounding. Creative, intelligent, caring and full of friendship :P The yahoo comments remind me of why I hate people.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually embarrassed to have my trailer linked with the yahoo article, that's how bad it is to me.
ReplyDeleteSo has commenting crashed?
ReplyDeleteLet's just say that nothing of value was lost. Yahoo isn't worth our time. Just discredit the sucker (and his giant rant) as a troll by correcting the "misinformation" and then gtfo to more important things.
ReplyDelete@Aurikine
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't see how his first sentence is a mistype. I can't think of a missing word or letter that fixes it.
Unless he left off "'nt" which is quite a lot to miss.
@BagOfChips You could show them the bio of Ozamu Tezuka and they still wouldn't believe you... not to mention, FiM doesn't look like Anime at all.
ReplyDelete@Wanderer D
ReplyDeleteDuh, if it has big eyes it has to be anime.
@BagOfChipsIt's largely in context outside of the missing "'nt", which is agreeably hard to miss, but idk, who knows what could happen.
ReplyDeleteLooks like that comment is gone now though? Maybe I just missed it there.
Lol I love how the article comments always assume that Bronies are all lazy good-for-nothings who spend ALL their time on Ponies and that they are all girly.
ReplyDeleteI'm a full time college student taking summer class plus 18 credits when the fall semester starts, I have a part-time job, and my other hobbies include going to the gym, playing scenario paintball, target shooting, smoking cigars, and satisfying my desire to try ever variety of beer produced by every local brew house in my area.
And you know what? If my other hobbies were sewing, watching lifetime movies, scrapbooking, and shopping for throw pillows, it wouldn't make me any less of a person. People need to grow up and learn this.
DAng, If I hadnt fallen behind my fic writing schedule i could become a pre reader
ReplyDelete@BagOfChips And that's how Equestria was born.
ReplyDeleteI lied, comment system is just buggin' out on me.
ReplyDelete@Aurikine
ReplyDeleteIt's still there. And yes, it's obvious what he meant in context. But that's why people take things out of context.
Oh well, it's just yahoo comments, no big deal.
Yay, my comment correcting the author got through.
Typos like that are actually pretty damn common, just unfortunately placed in this particular rant. Mental slip more than mistype.
ReplyDelete@WTBrony
ReplyDelete>full time college student
>part time job
>other hobbies
>YET SOMEHOW FINDS TIME TO WATCH MY LITTLE PONY?
Sir, your story has more holes than swiss cheese.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis is why I always read over my sizable posts. It takes a minute or two and you don't look so silly.
Oh, why Yahoo of all places? This article could have gone so much better elsewhere lol.
ReplyDelete@Anon with the Rant - Love and Tolerance, I guess. Better to have a slight typo that precludes a wall of truth rather than more slanderous comments from raging Stereotype aggravating Women (And Men, at that).
It's comforting to know that if I don't get a marketing job I can always get a journalism job since you apparently don't need to be good at researching or writing to get said job.
ReplyDeleteThis proves without a doubt that Yahoo users don't know shit about what's going on around them, even going so far as to call the news bullshit and not believe that we exist.
ReplyDelete@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteNot sleeping much helps.
I'm pretty sure Yahoo (and MSN) exists to keep luddites away from the real internet.
ReplyDeleteGodspeed, Yahoo.
It's been my experience Yahoo's mostly used by older folk anyway. It's basically fills the same role as America Online, as a front-end meant to make it easier for folk who aren't all that good at using the Internet because these newfangled computers are just so complicated! So I'd take any negativity I see in their comment threads like it's coming from my stuck up aunt Gertrude.
ReplyDelete*Rant Anon
ReplyDeleteOh god dammit.
I'm sorry I have failed, bronies. I am flipping my shit here. I will forever look back on this moment and cringe. Incidentally, the beginning was the only part I didn't proofread. I tried sending another comment pointing out the error. Please don't look down upon me, my brethren. Especially because my real name is right there.
In fact, I may or may not be posting this again because either "Equestria Daily doesn't like my posts", or my brain is really full of fuck right now.
Reading comments on Yahoo reminded me that we still have the world to take over. We have to tolerate and love shit out of the infidels!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you could use some sleep!
Do the comments bug out a lot? Because I can only see a few comments more than what I did earlier, and none of them are the rant.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what's been happening to me, which is why I didn't see my error earlier. Only now do I see my post correctly the error, and I was freaking out again thinking I screwed something up again.
Alright, it's about time I get off the internet for a bit.
@Rant Anonymous Easy brony, no looking down upon you for a mistake.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWe still love you, everypony makes mistakes.
@ Rant Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt's all good Brony. If Celestia can forgive Luna for the whole Nightmare Moon thing, we can forgive you for posting a rant out of justifiable frustration. You won't even have to do any hard time on the moon or anything.
...I want that Fluttershy, not for me, but for a friends birthday present, he would love it.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I know that with a thousand people each buying 12 tickets, I'm not gonna win it.
Also, Yahoo. Wow. Those comments. I don't even want to know what sort of brainless you have to be to believe some of those things.
I seriously couldn't understand precisely what you meant with the Team Fortress 2 thing
ReplyDeleteAnother day, another media article with ridiculous comments to laugh at.
ReplyDeleteSorry to burst you bubble, but that German licence plate is an obvious fake. You would run into trouble for driving around in Germany with this. Besides... the real plate seems to be behind the windshield.
ReplyDeleteWe do like to put cutie mark stickers on our vehicles though ;)
Yahoo is fine. Just the G3 header pisses me of.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind G1, but the G3 cartoon is on top of my very own "Kill it with fire and nuke it from orbit list""
I don't get what the TF2 brony shout out is.
ReplyDeleteUmm. Aksys doesn't "create" games, it localizes them. Or at least for BlazBlue and the JRPGs.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Yahoo was still a hard-coded directory, before search engines even properly existed.
Well, I better get cracking on those stories, if I want to join the prereaders!
ReplyDeleteBuy?
ReplyDeleteOh Seth, you silly filly.
Article is surprisingly fine, not the best work of journalism I've ever seen (Why so G1?), but then again that's why she works at Yahoo. At the end of the day the article isn't very judgemental, and that's something, right?
ReplyDeleteBut I'm very happy nopony went on a war against the commenters yet. Not only for the general point that warring against disbelievers is a bad thing, but even if it wasn't, these people aren't worth it xD. So yeah, I'm glad to see everypony chilling out and letting others think what they want.
Just the sheer amount of disbelief is just mind boggling, but as mentioned it is mostly people who don't know how to internet.
ReplyDeleteAlso, why are the oldest comments the first comments everyone sees, with the ones that explain everything so far buried at the end?
Dat fluttershy HHHNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG
ReplyDeleteSo the guys behind Blaz Blue are into the show. Why do I find that not surprising. Pinkie Pie is basically the pony version is Taokaka and the two share a similar style.
ReplyDeleteFlutterbunny, damn you. Because of you, I make a very high pitched noise that up until yesterday I didn't know I could make (Yesterday I found Tales Of Smyphonia after 7 years of looking).
@Firleycat
ReplyDeleteLucky buck. I let my idiot friend borrow it and he lost it. So he replaces it with...Pokemon Colosseum.
/wrists
Yeah, I would ignore any comment sections on sites like Yahoo regardless of the story. For some reason, sites like Yahoo! and CNN draw in the most vile people you will ever meet. You can have an article on cancer being cured and the people on those sites will still find something to harp about in the comments.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteow my brain. that entire post you pasted broke it.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's times like these I realise that yahoo is named rather adroitly.
the hwynym are much better at articulating themselves.
"tis is hilareius so what hppenng tis us my college so of couese Im missing I wash two so there weke up found higher lost octually will gooodness so how to telkl when someone doesn't them okay fall two right Inever becoming to sombody to see ok do you know keck you tring how are you to day to by enjoy yourself with your familiy mail me whenyou chanced okay having fun with own fanmily and frends..."
ReplyDeleteAnybody care to translate?
@Turbo
ReplyDeleteCould have been worse, He could have replaced it with Pokemon Channel. Still, that must of hurt.
wow are those people commenting on that yahoo thing isolated from the rest of the internet or something. they don't seem like real people
ReplyDeleteWeird. My comment just dissappeared into thin air...
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I edited/adapted the anonbrony's rant from above into a more wide-reaching rant, with a few less focuses on "manly men" and more so "Y U HAET PONY" rant.
"I've made some changes/updates to the rant posted above:
"All of you (The author, and the haters in the comments) clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the "Generation 1" My Little Pony picture in the article; Actually, most bronies absolutely hate the older My Little Pony content, like the poster in the article. We're only into Friendship is Magic, and for good reason. If any one of you are truly secure with yourself, you would give this a chance. Think of it as a test. But the real test is to see if you have the guts to openly express your interests. That's what we do. That's why you can't straight up label us as "gay"."
That being said, here's some disclaimers;
- Yep. There are some definite weirdoes that watch the show. They tend to be fairly eccentric, so that's why they get picked up on by the articles, radio/tv hosts, and used to attack the rest of us.
- We make a lot of "we're not gay" comments. This isn't an attack at anyone that watches the show that *is* gay. Friendship & Tolerance for everyone.
- Moral of this story? Don't judge a book by it's cover, or by what a reporter told you about it because of their piss-poor research. (I have the right to say this, I used to work for a newspaper). Yahoo, CNN, etc... should be ashamed for the people they hire that they let pass as journalists/writers these days.
From this brony to the rest of you haters. Try it. If you don't like the first episode, find one of the more random funnier ones. If you still hate it, that's cool, just don't hate US for liking it.
Cheers,
-S"
Wait I don´t get it...
ReplyDeleteI see nothing related to bronies / ponies on http://www.teamfortress.com/uberupdate/
or did they already change it before I could have a look?
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteSweet rant, that pretty much sums up the show and our fandom.
But however, a majority of the so called haters are usually just trolls trying to take us down, nothing more.
Why do people keep giving them attention? Look, a single, organized letter combining the facts and ideas you wish to push forward (NOT arguing opinions, but merely stating them), written in a friendly and mature fashion to the author of the article, nicely asking her to try and publish it for the commenteers to read as a follow-up by the brony community - *catching breath* - That may have gotten us somewhere.
ReplyDeleteEveryone and his mother practically helping flood the comment section with you own hostile, defensive essay, does not get anypony anywhere. Hostile includes trying to push your opinions to others, like the comment pasted here on ED above mine:
"Real men are secure with they're masculinity, and they don't feel threatened by a bunch of cute ponies. It takes guts to willingly try out the first episode. It takes a real man to express his interests, whether they're socially accepted or not. Real men aren't afraid."
It doesn't matter how much you think this (I agree by the way), putting it that way instead of suggesting that it is the stance we take is provocative and hostile, because we're taunting the grounds for their opinion by waving our own. And that does not win us any new friends.
I wish for a community that could just be more organized, more prone to individually thinking "someone else already sent in a counter-argument, maybe I should hold mine", and less hot on attacking exactly everyone in bigger medias who ever dares to disagree with us. Like it or not, we've got an entire culture as grounds for having prejudices against us and considering us to be outcasts at first glance.
Defending yourself with fierce hostility like a threatened bee hive as soon as you see anyone showing initial doubts and/or false ideas about our community as a whole will not help those prejudices to go away. It will strengthen them and help cement our image as immature cult-ish manchildren. What you're all doing is counter-productive to everypony out there who just wants to spread the message of love and tolerance (i.e. respecting people's right to an opinion) and enjoy a damn cartoon.
Please stop it. Thank you.
Dammit, Fluttershy! Why are you so cute? :D
ReplyDeleteall of you commenting on yahoo do realize that most people who read yahoo news only reads the header and never reads the comments, right?
ReplyDeleteNever cared for yahoo and now i know what kind of stuff happens in the comments section, geez i thought Youtube had it worst.
ReplyDeleteHey, at least Yahoo was a lot more accepting than any other news network. They were pretty nice about it, actually.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything vaguely related to ponies on any of the TF2 uberupdate pages?
ReplyDeleteI love you Lyra.

Haha, I loved the brony comments in the Yahoo article. I love you all bronies, I wish this community would last forever, and ever grow in size. <3
ReplyDeleteAlso, who's this pony inside a bunny cos-HNNNNNNNNNNNGGG
Well, I did my part by leaving a comment on Yahoo. Problem is, the comments are shown in chronological order, so new viewers of the article will see all the ignorant haters first, and probably never check the following pages to see our rebuttals. Oh well, at least it's only Yahoo.
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that Yahoo! is still around.
ReplyDeleteI thought that Google bought them or something back in 2007.
I agree with Oleetar in that, at least they were nice about it.
Oh god, the commenters on the Yahoo article are such internet newfags it made me vomit a little.
ReplyDeleteYahoo news... pfffft HAHAHA. Seriously, all that Yahoo does is pick up the scraps of other news agencies days or weeks after it's old news. They aren't legit in any sense, and it seems from the comments (which are almost completely unmoderated)that only people of limited intelligence use the site for news. No need to get worked up about the commenters, they're always angry, ignorant and hateful. Nothing will change that.
ReplyDeleteSee, just in the same way that college doesn't consider wikipedia because a primary source, the same follows through with any original research by the hands of people who write these articles. As long as they get their research from established articles such as Wired... then they are considered to have properly exposed the story. This Lady and Gents is how "facts" are born.
ReplyDeleteThe reference to be found in the TF2 page is the riding crop item. 'The Disciplinary Action'.
ReplyDelete...I really don't think it's a shout-out to bronies. But then he DID say it was highly unlikely.
Y'know, it's funny that the Sims 3 thing showed up, because right now, I'm making a bunch of humanized ponies for Sims 2 while wishing I had the skills to make them actual ponies. Regardless of that, I'll be posting up pictures and eventually downloads of them when I'm done. I've already done the mane six, Derpy Hooves, and Vinyl Scratch. Anybody have any ideas for who else I could do? Currently on my to-make list are the Cutie Mark Crusaders and Big Macintosh. Ideas for who else to do?
ReplyDeleteHeh, I have a friend of mine who uses Yahoo News and likes ponies. Can't wait to rub this in her face.
ReplyDeleteOooh, Aksys likes ponies. I love their games.
...even though I'm terrible at Blazblue. Still not used to CSII.
Anyone been on funnyjunk lately? There is a huge flame war going on between bronies and pony haters. It's ridiculous
ReplyDeleteAww that Fluttershy is so cu-HHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
ReplyDeleteIf your state plates have 6 characters available, I could see you with GPTRXE
ReplyDeletePlease don't tell me that bronies actually care about what Yahoo commenters think. They are in an entirely different ballpark when it comes to ignorance and illogic.
ReplyDeleteJust be glad that Yahoo itself was responsible in reporting about us and move on.
