Well, this is interesting.
From what I can gather, apparently MLP will be appearing on stage at an event called the Calgary Stampede. I've never heard of this event before, nor do I have any idea what a live-action pony show would be comprised of, but it's interesting news nonetheless.
One more picture after the break, and the schedule for the show is here. The show would be on the Coke stage.

It would be the coolest thing ever if they sang music from the show live. Except the music isn't licensed for use outside of the show, I think...
ReplyDeleteHmm. I just hope to see it on You-Tube.
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome. The Stampede is the largest, annual rodeo in Western Canada, if not the entire country. I'm delighted to hear that we Canadians are getting some love and attention!
ReplyDeleteLol the coke stage? Guess we know that Pinkie's gonna be there
ReplyDeleteSeems different o.O
ReplyDeleteI live in Calgary and I usually skip the Stampede (it's quite a rip off), but this is friggin awesome. Definitely going this year!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the Stampede is basically a bunch of crappy rides and a rodeo. They have entertainers on the stage but they're usually terrible.
Only thing that will make it worth while is ponies.
Must go to Canada... must go now. Who knows though, the graphic could just be being used incorrectly, since there was a G3 ice show, this might be the non-ice version.
ReplyDeleteNothing good can come from this.
ReplyDelete>Live-action FiM something
ReplyDelete>Kids' section of events catalog
I lol'd. If anyone's going, they'll have to say what the actors' reactions were to seeing nothing but college-age-or-above guys in the crowd...Assuming the actors aren't the real deal, which they more-than-likely won't be.
I live in a city that is close to Calgary Iive in Edmonton and it will be appearing at Edmonton's Capital EX also meaning I might see it. But I chose that the rides are more fun.
ReplyDelete^ I don't get it. It's being hosted from some kind of family Theater.
ReplyDeleteheh heh heh.
ReplyDeleteCoke stage.
The fact that MLP is listed before Barney and Thomas the Train make this all the more awesome.
ReplyDeleteAJ must be in for the rodeo
ReplyDeleteRemember the last time they appeared Live?

OMG, I live in Calgary! 'o' I may have to check this out!
ReplyDeleteAlthough...That video of Redcore's is remarkably creepy...
@RedCore
ReplyDeleteAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
...Never bring that up again.
@RedCore
ReplyDeleteThat made me cry, honestly. Jeezz.
Guys (and girls), lets be honest with ourselves here for a moment...we all know that this is going to be horrifyingly awful. Only one brony should bother going, simply to get a video of the performance that will give us all nightmares.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I live in the city of Red Deer (Red Pony hurr so original) that's 2 hours away from the Stampede. I might actually go just to see this performance, perhaps to record and put it on the YouTubes it as my brony friend suggested.
ReplyDeletePlus, you can't go wrong with the Big Comfy Couch.
@RedCore
ReplyDeleteThat makes me want to cry :/
I don't care if it might end up being a mess, it better come to Radio City Music Hall!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, from what I just saw I don't think this could go very well.
ReplyDelete@RedCore
ReplyDeleteAnother reason that the amusement park rides are going to be better.
Yeah, it's fairly likely that this is not going to be done by people who Get It.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYes. One Brony must sacrifice himself by sitting through it and providing it to us in all its awkward glory.
What will happen
ReplyDeleteA) Its G3 live ponies and they're just using G4 art to promote it
B) They've redone those live pony outfits for G4, and it will be mind numbingly terrible
C) They've redone those live pony outfits for G4, and it will be mind blowingly AWESOME!
Don't count on C.
All you Calgary Bronies! Can't to wait to see you there!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Dibs out. I'm in SK all summer. Also, RedCore? I might have to hate you now. Just, you know, out of common moral standards.
ReplyDelete@RedCore
ReplyDeleteKILL IT KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm not holding my breathe...
IF THEY SHOW ANY PRE-G3 PONIES I WILL PERSONALLY SET THEM ON FIRE WITH A KOREAN-WAR ERA FLAMETHROWER, REGARDLESS IF THEIR NAME IS FLUTTERSHY, TWILIGHT SPARKLE, PINKIE PIE, OR RAINBOW DASH.
ReplyDelete@Ivan2294
ReplyDelete*Pre-G4
Oh god I live so close to calgary only three hours, I am so happy right now
ReplyDeleteThere's two days of this the 12th and 13th. I'm going for the 12th!
ReplyDelete@Ivan2294
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to love and tolerance? :/
Interesting.
ReplyDeleteAlso, come on Cereal! How have you never heard of the Calgary Stampede!?! It's the greatest outdoor show on earth!
Wait, Seth's seriously never heard of the Calgary Stampede? I thought it was one of the world's biggest rodeo shows.
ReplyDeleteI remember the Stampede ages ago. I got an autograph from Owen Hart before he died :(
ReplyDeletedamn, it's on a work day.
ReplyDeletealso, coming from somepony who's spent far too much time in Calgary, a great game to play while at the Stampede is "spot the fake cowboy"
Cool, the Calgary Stampede is only 2 hours from here.
ReplyDelete@IAreLemons
ReplyDeleteScrew Love & Tolerance. The only way to deal with monstrosities like G1-3 is a lead pipe, AK-107, and Anthrax-Filled Canisters.
Admittedly, Gen 1 *did* have its moments (blame the 80s). I'll still complain about gen 3/3.5, though (RAINBOW DASH ALWAYS DRESSES IN STYLE).
ReplyDelete@RedCore
ReplyDeleteGreat, now I'll be having nightmares... About Ponies.
@RedCore... WHHYYYYY??????? That's just.... why?!
ReplyDeleteSoon everything in the world will involve ponies. There will be love and tolerance everywhere
ReplyDelete@RedCore That was the most awful thing ever! I feel I should show it to people thinking something's the most awful thing like Friday just to show them, yes, it CAN be worse! So, so much worse!
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that they'll give the actually GOOD ponies the dignity to use their own music.
@RedCore

I had a friend who lived in Calgary - she told me about the Calgary Stampede. It's too bad I kinda lost contact with her - woulda asked her to get pics of the thing >.<
ReplyDeleteI'm close enough to go! Calgary Meetup? Even if it is terrible, having other bronies around to laugh at it might make it a little better
ReplyDeleteI sure that they're dusting off the G3 "MLP Live" out costumes and doing some musical numbers from that. It's the only thing they could pull off that fast.
ReplyDelete@Ivan2294
ReplyDeleteG1 wasn't THAT bad.
Heck, Rescue at Midnight Castle was so grimdark so Faust just had to get inspired by it when she made the FiM Pilot.
Forgot to add a URL for the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP124R5NFrw
ReplyDelete@ToonNinja
ReplyDeleteAllow me to join you.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!
It doesn't say anything about Friendship is Magic, not even the FiM logo. My guess is it's just G3 but they're using G4 art to promote it.
ReplyDeleteWould be great if somepony could record it though. Can't really attend because I'm from Europe.

ReplyDeleteSweet i live only 1 & half hours drive away from Calgary. If i go i will bring my 1080P camera. And record the badness for all.
ReplyDeletecalling it right now that it is that horrible nightmare fuel we've all regretted seeing before.
ReplyDeleteOMG i going to be working at the stampede this year i hope....... Confond these ponies!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEE!!! Woot! I'm now considering going to the stampede this year now!
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT! I live in calgary and i go to the stampede every year (usually for the corn dogs). I need to see what this is about. Me and my recently converted friend will be there.
ReplyDelete@Day Chi
ReplyDeleteA Calgary meet-up sounds like a great idea, someone should organise one.
There are so many ways for this to go bad. I highly doubt these costumes are going to resemble the actual G4 cast at all. I mean is this even affiliated with the Hub or Hasbro? What are they doing?
ReplyDeleteIt's always kind of odd to see genuine advertising for mlp. Look at the pictures of twilight, rainbow and the rest of the mane six. Then think about some of the art you've seen of them. Then think about the art that was hidden behind the nsfw tag. Then remember that that advert is directed at little kiddies.
ReplyDeleteFeels weird!
It must be official. AJ is missing her Hat in both pictures like she does in way to many official products
ReplyDeleteI wished i life there :/
ReplyDeleteMy god I Luaghed my ass off when i saw got the stampede pamphlet in the mail today. I may sit through it just to see how bad it is
ReplyDeleteAlso Koyomi? You do not wish you lived here, after four years i/ve had enough, too dry and conservative
Call me when the mane cast start doing conventions. God knows Scott McNeil must be getting more and more questions about his cameo in the show with each passing convention.
ReplyDeleteYES! Finally something I can attend!
ReplyDelete*fanboy squeal*
There are so many Canadian Bronies! Anyways, Edmonton here, and Since its going to be at the stampede, its most likely going to be at Capital Ex as well.
ReplyDeleteBut still, awesome seeing so many bronies! (i think a meet-up is required now)
^ Agreed Cookies. I am going to the stampede for that weekend but sadly I will miss the MLP show since it's wednesday and I won't be there till saturday. However being an Edmonton brony I will hopefully NOT be working when they show their performance. Although I'm looking more forward to the meet up than the show.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read that first, I though for a moment that it could mean Daniel Ingram doing a live performance. It took me way longer than I'm proud of to realize that 1. He is a composer not a performer and 2. There is no way in hell he would do that show, If my memories of those kind of events are still true. Still, It was a nice though for a few moments.
ReplyDeleteI hope somepony records this and uploads it to youtube, even if it turns out to be something based on G3.5.
ReplyDeleteThe Calgary Stampede has been around FOREVER.
ReplyDeleteI just hope it's not as horrifying as MLP live.
Although the show will probably be crap, I like the idea of a meetup. Hopefully I can make it if it works out!
ReplyDeleteI suppose facebook would probably be the best way to organize it?
Hmm, this seems like a good year to use my families alumni privedges to go to the stampede
ReplyDeleteAs Celestia said, "The Grand Galloping Gala is always awful. That is why I was thrilled you were all attending. I was hoping you could liven things up a bit." I hope whoever goes to this does so to meet friends.
ReplyDeleteAlso please do not wreck the Coke Stage and let loose a stampede of animals.
>Perform
ReplyDeleteOh what no. That G3 thing gave me nightmares, this is not going to be better if it's based on it.
Finally, My living in Calgary shall not go to waste!!!
ReplyDeleteMy reaction:
ReplyDeleteHm...that might be interesting.
*sees Barney and Thomas the Train Engine next to it*
KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!
SOMEBODY VIDEOTAPE THIS AND UPLOAD IT TO YOUTUBE
ReplyDeleteI COMMAND YOU
Sorry.
we need pictures!
ReplyDeletepictures of live action ponies!
@RedCore Dear Luna, no... I'd tried so hard to block that from my memory!
ReplyDeleteI'll record it for you guys XD I can't wait to go then!.... I just hope I won't be the only brony in the crowd
ReplyDeleteI just hope it weon't be anything like that live-action G3 pony show I have seen on Youtube. I'm still getting nightmares of that.
ReplyDeleteliving in Ohio. practically on the lake. so close i can actually SEE canada. So close, and yet so far away!
ReplyDeleteWait, do they even show this on TV in Canada yet?
ReplyDelete@RedCore
ReplyDeleteI was scrolling through all the old comments specifically so I could make sure someone mentioned that.
Because that monstrosity was the first thing I thought of when I saw this post. >.<
Luckily (I guess), this is not going to be at the Red River Exhibition this year...
ReplyDeleteAnd the show airs on Treehouse in Canada (although this show could easily upgrade to YTV...why isn't it?).
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteMostly Because of the name, and Kids these days think they are too good for MLP :/
Also, Hello Winnipeg Brony! (i used to be from there, but moved to edmonton for work XD )
@CookiesAreForever
ReplyDeleteNow someone should make a Winnipeg Jets-styled pony, or at least dress up the ponies as the main characters from the first season of Digimon...
MLP at the greatest outdoor show on Earth? Why the heck not?
ReplyDeleteWait We get ponies here. In Canada? *Runs to PVR* Wednesdays @ 4:00 My little pony FiM. AWWWWWWWWWW YAHHHHHHHHH *presses record*
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteActually, corus entertainemtn owns both treehouse and YTV
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sn5L6hMjMU&feature=related
ReplyDeleteConsidering all the Calgary bronys should be in here, is anypony else going to the "Entertainment Expo"? Cause I don't want to be the only brony there.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someone else said it, but...
ReplyDeleteYou are now aware that the possibility of only live action G3 ponies, or maybe even live action G3 ponies in G4 colors.
After all, I read My Little Pony. No FiM subtitle whatsoever.
Those actor/actresses are gonna be downright exhausted, performances 3x day. I have done some local 'Fursuiting' (Furry Cosplay) after 30 minutes, I would need to get cooled off.. but to be in those costumes (I have looked at the monstrosities of G3 and 3.5) that would be taxing.. there must be a good 'headless area' there with plenty of H2O and chillers. Especially if this venue is going to be outside.
ReplyDelete@RedCore
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine waking up in the middle of the night and seeing that thing serenading to you in your bedroom?
"I want to go to there."
ReplyDeleteand I probably will, because I live in Calgary.
Now we just need it on a better channel at more reasonable times here.
@Anonymous EEEeeeeyup im going there on Saturday
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'll be there all three days. Don't know what I'll cosplay as though XD;
I think I'm in town for those days too! Might have to check it out...
ReplyDeleteIt's really neat seeing all the Alberta Bronies round here.
http://www.capitalex.ca/whatson/attractions-venues/telus-stage-family-entertainment
ReplyDeleteSecond one down has a little description of the one that's coming to Edmonton. It seems like it really is G4. Let's hope it's actually something decent...
Next Wednesday, the afternoon performance. Who's in?
ReplyDeleteI'm going there Wednesday afternoon to record it.
ReplyDeleteUm, was this the show at the Calgary Stampede?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoLCOc3lo6E

The Calgary Stampede is widely described as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" every year it attracts more than a million people to the city. That's just tourists, nevermind the other 1.2 million citizens that attend. People from all across the world (Literally) come to see the stampede. It's the largest Rodeo in North America and the highest grossing on the planet. It's filled with amazing food and crazy fun rides. The coke stage will be especially exciting this year because Garth Brooks is scheduled to play. His concert sold out in 47 seconds when it was put up on ticketmaster.ca. I just felt the need to post this because some people were saying its crappy or just plain un fun. Some were saying they didn't know what it was. For those who've never been but live close by, come. You will not regret it and that's a promise!
