Yay, it does fit.
Please wait a day before attacking it. Change always feels a bit weird for a while. Let yourselves adjust a bit. This has a lot of neat benefits that the tiny post boxes didn't allow. Pretty much every major blog has this exact layout.
Anyway here are some changes, and things I'll be working on over the next few days!
- The archives are now at the bottom, like more traditional blogs
- The side bar buttons/fanfiction button/ect are getting an overhaul (they don't really..match)
- Fluttershy is still the best pony
- Banners will be longer but less tall
- Oh god experimenting with the website puts me so far behind. Afk emails/Nightly roundup for the next 2 hours.
This isn't finalized, It's just an experiment. Two side bars was just difficult to work with, considering their tiny size.
Honestly I'm leaning toward bar on the right, every blog on the planet does that.

Yep, i said "Wahts happening" But now its all clear.
ReplyDeleteSo.....wide.
ReplyDeleteI like it!
This layout. It pleases me greatly
ReplyDeleteim ok with this
ReplyDeleteLEFT SIDE! WOOOOOOOAAAAAAA
ReplyDeleteRIGHT SIDE! WOOOOOOOAAAAAAAA
sweet.
ReplyDeletelooks like it fits.
ReplyDeleteMe gusta.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD
ReplyDeleteYOU MADE IT BIGGER, SETH
inb4twss
Can you remove the annoying add banner too?
ReplyDelete1024x768 doesnt get full screen correctly,. Like 100px more wide, need to use scrollbar to watch the Right Panel. Seems problem of the Post Body layout. Maybe a CSS to Width:100% ? or auto or width: remainder or similar. Should do it.
ReplyDeleteAAAH!
ReplyDeleteI was gonna go to bed... but then I saw this. Now I won't, because I'll surely have nightmares.
PLEASE! LEFT SIDE!
I gonna say it again, back to how it was or put the column thingy on the right on the left side.
ReplyDeletedonotwant.jpg
Why not have the layout automatically adjust, with a percentage (say 15%) on each side.
ReplyDeleteAlso, be sure to resize the comment box to fit. Better yet, drop the comment box in a div that automatically expands to fit content and overlays all the other elements on the page. That way we can enlarge the box over the sides when typing long or complicated posts.
OH GOD, CHANGEEEE
ReplyDeleteI dunno, it seems alright. And I like the widescreeniness. But that picture. Is so. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteEgad!
ReplyDeleteThis could take a short moment to get used too.
Yeah, I'll add to what the others are saying about the right-hand elements. Stick them on the left. Flows better.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, it's quite bad. The extra space is more than welcome, but to have the articles off center is a massive mistake. I'd say the info bar should be on the left side also, but that one is probably more personal preference.
ReplyDeleteI think this new layout is interesting, and I'm going to give it my seal of approval. Take as much stock in that as you'd like.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the "put it on the left side" statments.
ReplyDeleteBut I rather like how it was, now all the images seem so small in contrast to the wide size of the post :S
lol, make up your mind.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI think my depth perception might have taken a slight hit.
ReplyDeleteIt's like looking at a 3DS with one eye, it's all wobbly... is it alright if I'm seeing 'hug Celestia' posters everywhere and Pinkie just happen to be a giant pink lemon? Also what's Luna Captilization Year mean?
I FEAR CHANGE
ReplyDeleteI much prefer the sidebar on the right side.
ReplyDeleteThank you, that's better.
ReplyDeleteIt feels very weird that the main content isn't centered, though.
My only complaint is a personal quirk of mine to have bars on the right side of a screen, so the left side will take some getting used to.
ReplyDeleteBUT, that is a personal thing, and as such, I love the new layout!
I love it! I do wish the banner would be limited to 1 1/2 inch height already, though. It's looks unbalanced but the feeling will go away.
ReplyDeleteFS: its so.... wide.....
ReplyDeletePP: its not that wide...
Much better! On the left is just... yay~
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I have with it has to be the background color of the archives; it's a little dark and really doesn't go with the general color of the blog.
Other than that, I'd say this was a wonderful choice.
Whether or not we keep the new layout should be the next poll
ReplyDelete"Rarity is the best pony"
ReplyDeleteFixed that for you.
Also, I'd prefer if the layout was flipped horizontally.
The bar should be on the right side so the text from the article is pushed closer to the left, like I'm reading a page from a book my eyes drift from left to right, when it's off kilter like this it's a little disorienting.
ReplyDeleteOhh, I'm liking the the new layout. My vote for keeping as is.
ReplyDeleteNow I have to scroll all the way down to get to Fanfic?
ReplyDeleteIf you had 3 columns at the bottom instead of 2, would it fit?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look very nice to me, I liked the old way more, w/e.
ReplyDeletethis'll certainly take some time getting used to
ReplyDeleteMy reaction:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoOSEJJ1Npk
DON'T KEEP IT.
Content is usually read left to right, which means the most important content belongs on the left, while the less important belongs on the right, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteGah why do people like it like this? It is so awkward without that bar on the left.
ReplyDeleteTHIS RIGHT HERE, side bar on the right, article on the left, nice and wide and archives at the bottom. I love this, don't change it.
ReplyDeleteIMO I definitely do not like all the content stuff at the very bottom. Takes forever to get to if a blog post has 100+ comments.
ReplyDeletedat 50/50 poll
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...........................................No Sir, I dont like it.
ReplyDeleteMegusta.jpg
ReplyDeleteAlthough the context is a little much to the left.
Make sure the poll results stay perfectly balanced so it has to get centered!
ReplyDeleteI liked it better when all the lists (fanfic, news, comics, media, etc.) were to the right. Now everything is off-kilter.
ReplyDeleteIt was better the first time. The sidebar was to the left, the lists were to the right, and the articles were CENTERED. I hate imbalances, I'm a perfectionist.
/agree with @Bronies, doesn't fit on a 1024x768 screen.
ReplyDeleteLiquid layouts > everything else
This site need a banner archive !
ReplyDeleteAUHG! F**K! WHERE IS EVERYPONY!? I CAN'T SEE! WHAT'S GOIN-*runs full tilt into wall*
ReplyDeleteWHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT
ReplyDeleteOkay, It looks cleaner. (But I have a tiny-ass monitor that cuts off the edge of the page, but that's my own problem.)
It seems to run a bit slower, but that could just be my derpy computer as well.
Archives are nice at the bottom, although I'll miss them at the top, it makes more sense for it to be this way.
@==Maverick==
ReplyDeletePress the 'End' key?
HI!
ReplyDeleteGenerally, most fixed-width websites are designed with a maximum width of 960px. A 10px margin either side makes a nice 940px 'safe' area for content to fit in. This is the basis of the 960 grid system which is pretty pro for making neat designs quickly. www.960.gs. Grab the bookmarklet from that page and start griddin' (it overlays the grid system on any website meaning you can see whether others are aligning their content using the grid system.)
Also, keep that sidebar on the right!
It looks perfect now! The sidebar should remain on the right.
ReplyDeleteI actually really like this new layout!
ReplyDeleteWow, Seth. Jolly good work, but it should be slightly wider, shouldn't it? There's a lot of blank blue space on my screen.
ReplyDeleteAgreed that sidebar should be on the right. Being that we read from left to right, it makes sense this way because now the first thing I notice is the latest article rather than the No Fanfiction button
ReplyDeleteI think this is pretty good. I like how open it feels. I agree the bar should remain on the right, but I don't care that much.
ReplyDeleteNoooo, now I'll have to turn my head a few degrees more to look at the content on my second monitor! The horror!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, we need the old Media/Fanfic/Art bars that were on the right back as well, I used those almost non-stop.
ReplyDeleteSo much CHAAAAAAAAAAANGE. Why?
ReplyDeleteIt dosn't...feel right. The bar should go back to the left.
ReplyDeleteI think it works best on the right because that means less screen travel for the cursor when using the scroll bar.
ReplyDeleteWorks for me, at least from my work computer. Will have to see how my own comps' widescreen handles things.
ReplyDeleteI would like to divert your attention to this:
ReplyDeletehttp://tinyurl.com/5jf79o
Because honestly, that's the reaction to most people in this post.
@Craft
ReplyDeleteThought of this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHpdgHTINik&NR=1
The new layout isn't bad, but I liked the old one better. It might just be because I was used to it, but the widescreen feels a little weird. Generally I'm a big fan of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
ReplyDeleteI voted for left (where did the poll go?) but now that I see it on the right, I must say, this works better. Leave it on the right side, that's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love that banner!
ReplyDeleteDerpy is confused 9_6 That is all
ReplyDeleteIt feels a little, well, VERY strange having the posts be off center, but I do like how stuff is now at the bottom of the screen. Maybe the posts could be centered again, but there could still be things at the bottom? Well, I guess I don't really know how well that would work.
ReplyDeleteEven in that banner Pinkie can't be serious
ReplyDeleteOh wow he changed the side panels to the right.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE ET!
Put the ads on the bottom?
ReplyDeleteMore importantly, who drew that?
ReplyDeleteMy GOD
@Ihaveanamebecause?
ReplyDeleteThat's it. I couldn't quite put my finger on what felt off, but that's it. I'm used to reading things in the center of my screen, not skewed to the left.
I really like this layout, and don't really care if the sidebar is to the left or the right.
ReplyDeleteI do have one suggestion, though: Splitting the archives into three collumns instead of two.
It feels so spacey now. *Breaths a good deal of air*
ReplyDeleteHAH, I'm loving the banner as well :3
All I ask is that you move the advert to the bottom of the right hand side. So I don't have scroll down each time to check the popular posts.
ReplyDeleteI think it was better with the two sidebars
ReplyDeleteI like it much better. News doesnt look so compressed anymore. now we just need an RSS feed for not-fanfiction
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT. The main thing being on the left and everything, the header images now look *SO AWESOME* /)^ε^(\
ReplyDeleteThe change seemed just a bit confusing but it makes sense and we will probably get used to it.
ReplyDeleteThough upon reflection I was feeling a bit manipulated. I fear I could find myself agreeing with terrible, terrible things given the addendum that Fluttershy is still the best pony. Just glossed right over the rest, something to know about one's character.
I like it, and that is all I have to say about it.
ReplyDelete@WTBrony I agree with this. My right eye feels like it's just being unused right now. More centrally-located text feels nicer to me. I'm sure I could get used to it, but I seriously think "I changed it because that's how all the cool kids do it" is a really really shitty explanation for switching stuff around.
ReplyDeleteCan you warn us in advance next time you're going to suddenly drastically change the layout? I mean, I know I'd get used to this if you keep it this way, but I feel like I've literally gotten some form of whiplash out of this. Like, my neck actually hurts a bit from tilting my head so much farther to the left than usual.
Yeah, yeah, accuse me of overreaction.avi or whatever the hell you all wanna say regarding my bitchmoanwhining, but a day's notice saying "I'm going to be giving this a more traditional blog layout so get ready" would be nice.
I like it.
ReplyDeleteI like this. +1 Awesome, as they might say on KYM.
ReplyDeleteI don't see what the big issue was with the old layout, honestly. It felt fine-tuned, and this feels like it's wider for the sake of being wider.
ReplyDelete@BronyMike
ReplyDeleteI did bring it up and link to the beta blog in the nightly news a few days ago actually.
@BronyMike
ReplyDeleteIt was in the nightly roundup just recently. There were quite a few reasons there and "because all the cool kids do it" wasn't one of them :)
I give them one day before they deal with it, Seth.
ReplyDeleteOh, changed sides. That's better!
ReplyDelete@Sethisto Really? Huh. I read the roundups, I'm surprised I missed it. I VERY strongly apologize then. Also, let me state as I always must when I address you that EqD is fucking awesome.
ReplyDelete@Acriaos:
"Pretty much every major blog has this exact layout."
"like more traditional blogs"
"every blog on the planet does that."
Putting the sidebar on the right is much more sensible than putting it on the left. When the articles were to the right, it felt like I had to strain my neck just to look at stuff, but now it's gravy.
ReplyDeleteI like the space. It's spacey, and it gives room to make images bigger on articles, such as the image above.
ReplyDeleteSPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE.
Gonna take some getting used to, but alrighty.
ReplyDeletePersonally I liked the side panel on the left more but.. um.. whatever you want to do is fine.
ReplyDelete@Sethisto OH. NOW I know which post you were talking about. I thought through that whole thing you were referring to some other blog, so I just kinda skipped past it. "Right now I am testing out a new layout for this site" I thought was referring to the movie blog you'd mentioned earlier. Heh, I should've checked it out before.
ReplyDeleteI like the extra space, but it still feels pretty uneven having blue, very-narrow light-blue, white-with-text, very-wide light-blue, blue, at least once you've scrolled past the stuff at the top.
Again, though, please don't take my bitching to heart, I know me and I'll be over this in two days. I just complain when stuff's changed. Wouldn't mind seeing how it looks on the left, though.
I'm going to have to get used to having so much real estate to read and post in. I liked the old style, but so long as we still get the color pattern and the awesome banners, I could get used to this.
ReplyDeleteRemeber little bronies: the poll is about where the SIDE BAR goes, not the main one. I am reminding this because I fell into thus trick myself :p
ReplyDeletePlease...please put the bar back on the left side. It just feels off center with it on the right. I hate it being on the right on Cracked too. The extra width is highly appreciated though.
ReplyDeleteHm it's sure it really strange to have the left site so empty and everything on the right site.
ReplyDeleteMy view is somehow always drawn to the left site (I guess on most websites I visit the important stuff is on the left)
I first have to get used to this one, but I think I prefer the old one.
Maybe there can be some kind of compromise ?
Like just putting the right site on the left and still leaving this "wide" middle ?
Don't know, still love this site.
I dunno about this... I'm just more used to reading with all the text being at the center...
ReplyDeleteMy opinion as a FullHD screen owner [trollface.jpg]:
ReplyDeleteAlmost all web pages waste a lot of space on 1920x1080, EQD is no different. Almost half of the screen width is wasted. It would be awesome to have web pages adjust to resolution. In my case, you could keep both sidebars, while still having this width for news etc. ...But on the other hoof, the archives do fit down there...
i prefer the new layout. it is much better.
ReplyDeleteI like the wider layout but I might miss the old taller titles.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, interesting new style, I kinda liek it, feels less crowded.
ReplyDeleteAlso I noticed that your spelling could use some work, last time I checked Rainbow Dash is isn't spelled F-L-U-T-T-E-R-S-H-Y. But it's alright, a lot of people tell me I'm rather nit-picky about spelling and grammar.
Alright, I'm used to it now. Fuck you, me from an hour ago.
ReplyDeleteAll it took was someone reminding me that Cracked existed, me reading an article on that site that I enjoyed, me realizing "Wait, what the fuck, I read this site for years and never realized it counted as reading a blog?" and then realizing "Oh, hey, this site's got exactly the same goddamn layout as the new EqD. I'm an ENORMOUS hypocrite."
I think on Cracked I like it a little bit more because there are some elements on the bar to the right that scroll down when you do, so when you get far down the page like this, there isn't just a big blank space that feels wasted, you're reminded that it's that width for a reason.
Works for me, looks a lot cleaner IMO.
ReplyDelete''Pretty much every major blog has this exact layout.''
ReplyDeleteThat Doesn't Mean it's good,
Dear Princess Celestia staying with the group is a good thing, but also adding your own touch and not following the group like a mindless zombie is also good
Heck they even teach us that in South Park
Oh wellz not like i can't just open the source file and modify the width for myself =))
Ugh, I'm so used to the old layout. But I'll give this one some time and see how it feels tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI like the new layout. And yeah, FLuttershy is definitely still the best pony.
ReplyDeleteDo like. Don't change it back.
ReplyDeleteOn a related note: if you're looking for the News/Comic/Art/Media/Fanfic/Event bar, it's on the BOTTOM of the page. Seriously Seth, you should've mentioned that.
ReplyDeleteIf we're thinking long-term improvement, I'm thinking:
- The News/Comic/Art/Media/Fanfic/Event part should be located at the top with the buttons, and the list of items is in a drop-down menu. The sections as a whole are just too large to stick in a sidebar, and throwing it at the bottom of the page is rather inconvenient. Of course, don't force yourself to implement this right away.
- If the "two sidebars" movement prevails, take half of the bar and dump it to the left. I suggest moving the ad banner, No Fanfic Mode button and Pageview Counter, maybe with the sharing/embed buttons.
- If we stick with a single sidebar, move the "Popular Posts" section to right under the "No Fanfiction Mode" button and the push everything else down. That would serve to make the ad banner less intrusive and make the more significant information easier to access.
- Narrow the sidebar, even if you go dual sidebars in the end. For perspective's sake: the right sidebar eats a THIRD of my screen on this netbook. Then imagine the impact it could have on things like mobile browsing.
Wow, this is AWESOME! It may not supposed to look bigger, but it definitely feels like it. Wicked cool.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I was hoping for. Best development since the No-Fanfic button.
ReplyDeletewell it loads about a million times faster on my iPad and stuff.
ReplyDeleteOH SISTER! THE CHANGE! NOTHINGS THE SAME! SUDDENLY, BANANA'S PHOE! I. DON'T. KNOW. WHAT'S. GOING. ON. ANY. MORE!
ReplyDelete-Runs away to her room and barricades the door with her mountain of plushies, then hides under the bed-
I'll give it a day or two before I say what I think, because you're right Seth, change DOES always feel weird. I'm just glad that it wasn't a problem on my end, like I though at first.
ReplyDeleteWhat's odd is that the thing that sticks out to me the most is the page feels brighter somehow. I don't know why, but it hurts my eyes a bit. And it doesn't make sense, since the page colors are the same. Maybe I'm just tired.
After two or three days though Seth, you should put up a poll asking if people like this layout over the old one. But definitely wait before putting it up.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteExtra post with a picture detailing the MASSIVE EMPTY SPACE on the right side. Seriously, there's just way too much of it and it's so lopsided.
ReplyDeletehttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m89/Vsin/EqDLayoutNetbook.jpg
1024x768 screens here. The page is too big. I have two screens so I could stretch it over but that would probably make my eyes explode :-/
ReplyDeleteSeth, if you keep these Fluttershy comments up I may just have to go behind you and tell Twilight what you've been saying.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't want that, would you?
I like it
ReplyDeleteumm can you put the bar on the left side ?
ReplyDeleteOMG i love the new setup
ReplyDeleteWell, this was a bit of a shock to see first thing in the morning. Change is not good when you are recovering from a hangover. In any case, it looks a lot neater than the old way. It will take a bit of time to get use to how wide the posts are now but I'll adjust. If I can get adjust to reading pony websites every morning, I can adjust to this.
ReplyDeletei am not ok with this
ReplyDelete@Vsin
ReplyDeleteWait, if this is your screen now, doesn't that mean it is way better than before? The 2 bars must have taken more space than they do now, no matter what.
@1024x768 screens: There is only a little part on the right cut off, all the links on the bar can still be seen. It does fit in perfectly if you make the page just a bit smaller with ctrl+scrolling once.
Well at least add something in the empty space so it's not just one big empty stretch of land.
ReplyDeletethat picture is my new desktop background
ReplyDeleteBetter. Also I reckon Seth needs to start delegating its all very nice to take responsibility for everything and anything but if you go the entire community suffers. We need a solid chain of command, more responsibility from others so that updates are timely and people can take over from each other as needed.
ReplyDeleteI like the new setup...
ReplyDeleteProbably because I'm left handed but being on the right feel like it's the wrong side :(
ReplyDeleteDon't switch it, this is actually pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteGood, except the date needs to be in the post section not above it
ReplyDeleteHmm, it's disorienting right now, but I think I can learn to love it.
ReplyDeleteThe whole screen doesn't fit in 1024x768 resolution (You know, that one before widescreens existed).
ReplyDeleteI like it. and ha HA to the new banner. <3
ReplyDeleteI love the new layout.
ReplyDeleteIt's got a much cleaner look than before.
Hmm... I don't like it much... I actually preferred the archives at the right...
ReplyDeleteI don´t like the traditional bar on the right.
ReplyDeleteokayguy.jpg
ReplyDeleteThese new changes are great. I especially like your 3rd bullet point. That's the best one on the list. But seriously, nice new layout.
ReplyDeleteRAAAAAR CHANGE RAAR
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot better than the old one!
ReplyDeleteWHAT, NEW THINGS?!?! This new thing frightens and confuses me, make it go away!
ReplyDeleteI like thr bigger space for the content but I oft come here specifically for the archives. Some button to jump immediately down there would be nice. (Or you could sacrifice your ad space over there.)
ReplyDeletei like the new layout, feels smooter
ReplyDeleteLikes: the wideness because it allows more room for the comments and the banner is displayed better.
ReplyDeleteDislike: the Archives shouldn't be at the bottom. It would be easier to access them from the side.
It's only my opinion. :D
I personally prefer the old format, but only because the new one doesn't all fit on my screen.
ReplyDeleteSome of us folk are still stuck on 1024x768 ya know.
But the things are so much more difficult and less convenient to access
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to change it back? :<
Gonna take a while to get used to but I´m sure this it´s the best for equestriadaily
ReplyDeleteWell done Seth
Keep the good job
Honestly, I really like this setup. Only one thing: move the sidebar to the left. It feels awkward to have to read mane content from the left side of the screen.
ReplyDeleteThis new layout is alright. Just gonna have to get used to it like all changes. I guess my only wish is for the popular posts/visit counter and whatnot over there on the right could be moved to the left side. Other than that, I thinks it's A-Okay Seth.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks polished.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, mayhap the archives could just go under the popular posts on the right sidebar? Best thing would be collapsible menus, but you apparently still haven't figured out how to do that yet.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a bit disorienting for a while, but the change is honestly overdue. Good move, Seth.
>go to equestriadaily
ReplyDelete>is my browser derping?
>read this
>I LOVE IT
>open equestria daily
ReplyDelete>see awesome banner :D
>scroll down 2 inches
>...
>AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! What is going on!
>remember about blog changes
>donotwant.jpg
>scrolls down to see new archives
>imOKwiththis.jpg
I actually like it. It will take getting used to, but probably not too long. I think it's a nice layout, but you know how do decide for sure?
ReplyDelete...
NEW POLL!
Seriously, though.
All my criticism from before still applies, off-center is bad and line width is erring on the side of wall-of-text-y, which is bad for a news blog.
ReplyDeleteCategories on bottom is unusable, either have it on the top where it's useful or just get rid of the noise.
Never really used popular posts, and there's tremendous functional overlap between popular posts, recent posts, and categories on top. I say take recent posts and put it where popular is now and get rid of the other stuff entirely.
Im liking this so far, it looks a lot less cluttered. IF only the site didnt get all stuttery while things load ( opera browser )
ReplyDeleteLooking at it, your ad is in a bad place, I know the ad is very important, but the thing with the recent posts is either they're above the "fold" or they're *not there at all*. For all practical intents and purposes anyway. Two sidebars obviously didn't have this problem.
ReplyDeleteNOT CHANGE D:
ReplyDelete/crys
Well, I am ok with this. Change will take some time to get used to, but soon navigating this layout will become second nature ;)
ReplyDeleteFirst Impressions:
ReplyDeleteOMGWTFWHATHAPPENEDWHYDOESTHISLOOKDIFFERENT?
One Minute later:
Imokaywiththis.jpg
Ten Minutes later:
"Old layout? There was an old layout?"
I'm all for making it more widescreen (dunno how people with 15" monitors feel about it)
ReplyDeleteBut right now it kinds feels like all the content is cornered to the left making it feel more cramped (if you know what I mean)
Call me old fashioned but I'm happy with the old look myself as far as layout goes.
Who cares! That picture is simply too awesome!
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the wider column for content, but I really dislike having the archive on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm checking for new comments (especially on fanfiction after a new chapter), I always press the "end" key rather than scrolling for fifteen seconds. But now the archives are taking up so much space at the bottom that that's become irritatingly inefficient, too. Yeah, yeah, whine whine whine, I only have to scroll up about two screens with my resolution, but it still feels like a waste of time. It's especially irritating to me because I have literally never used those abridged archives; I always click through to the separate page on the rare occasion I want to look something up. It's a minor detail, it's hardly going to ruin my enjoyment of the site, but it's irritating.
Well its confirmed.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy is the best pony
I like having a left side with my right side, thank you....
ReplyDeleteI really really really love the new layout, especially since it loads SUPER FAST.
ReplyDeleteWeird, but I will get used to it and eventually like it ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf it counts at all, keep the bars on the right. Left side felt really weird.
It does seem to be faster.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy the best pony? Hell yeah.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy as best pony = truth.
ReplyDeleteChanges as scary = also truth.
But I'll get used to it :/
CHAAAAAAAAAAAAANGE AAAAAH
ReplyDeletePutting all the bar-stuff at the bottom seems to make it easier to use, since I won't have to scroll up and down.
Left side... Trimmed nicely...
ReplyDeleteRight side, Nice and simple...
Good body...
The bottom...
LOOK AT DAT PLOT!!!
[END] + [PAGE UP] +[PAGE UP] for quick new comment checking. Key's are next to each other anyway. Blogger's stupid script always glitches out my old computer anyway, so pressing [End] always netted me a blank flank on the tail end of any ED page I loaded anyway.
ReplyDeleteI vote left side but keep what is on the bottom on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteI approve of the new layout. IT PLEASES ME.
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously damaging my back trying to read off-center content I can feel it crack, center plox.
ReplyDeleteBack when you first introduced popular posts on the left side with goggles mode? Rememeber that?
Yeah that was perfect. That was the best the site has been.
New layout is overall an improvement, but I REALLY find myself missing the news links on the right side. If there is one thing to bring back up, it should be the news links column.
ReplyDeleteFor the love of Celestia, put the bar on the left side. It throws me off with it being so unbalanced like this and makes it really uncomfortable to read.
ReplyDeletePutting the "recent posts" section at the bottom of the page is outright annoying. I detest having to scroll all the way to the bottom just to see the most recent posts.
ReplyDeleteI miss the recent posts on the left side. I didn't have to scroll ALL the way down.
ReplyDelete
