Brony Lindsay recently visited two nearby Big Lots stores that previously carried the molded two inch single pony sets (Rarity/Dash/Pinkie/Twilight), and apparently was greeted by empty shelves at both. It sounds like they aren't carrying them anymore.
I am not 100% proficient in the way Big Lots handles merchandise (I only ever stepped foot in two of them when searching for these damn molded singles!) but they could have just held a temporary stock.
As far as I know, it was the only place in the USA with these toys outside of ridiculously overpriced online retailers.
Lets just hope Hasbro has plans to release more in the future or something!
*Update* Looks like Meijer still has them! Sadly that's not a very common store here!

Unless I'm mistaken, a good chunk of what Big Lots carries is kind of a hit or miss about how often they carry stuff. The bulk of it is overstock stuff, if memory serves, so they may or may not be getting more :/
ReplyDeleteoh crap...
ReplyDeleteI saw a bunch of MLP:FiM last time I was at Target. And I checked after I went the first time. They re-stocked :0. Not sure if that particular toy is @ Target, but I do know they have quite a few pony items there
ReplyDeleteYep, They arent at any of the biglots around here either, and I bicycled a good 20 miles for them too...
ReplyDeleteCheck Ollies if you have one. Many times they will carry the Big Lots rejects(as if ponies could ever be rejected) and many times have the better toys.
ReplyDeleteThe 2 Big Lots near me never had any of the molded ponies :(
ReplyDeleteOllies stinks lately. I think too many reject stores are opening.
ReplyDeleteDamn it guys, you already brought the entire stock! What can I get little suzzie for her birthday now?!
ReplyDeleteI checked the local big lots, which was carrying them for a while, but I cleaned em out recently, and they haven't really restocked. there's like 3 pinkie pie's left, and that's it.
ReplyDeleteThe actual molded-hair individual ponies are actually a discontinued item, according to one store manager at a Toys'R'Us here in Texas. Big Lots gets closeout items, stuff discontinued in other stores, so what was there is likely all they've got and might be all they're going to get. I've personally hit every Big Lots within 25 miles of Dallas and found a total of 4. It looks like our only hopes lie in the ponyville 4 packs getting a wider distribution.
ReplyDeleteIt's likely they were first released when the show started and discontinued due to low sales before the new pony fandom had coalesced.
@Chef Sandy
ReplyDeleteThis is most likely the case. I work at a retail chain that operates similarly to Big Lots and most of the merchandise we get are one time deals that the company picked up for super cheap.
well, since my store near me has like 3 pinkie's left, and they don't seem to be selling there, if someone wants them I can grab them for them tomorrow, just shoot me an email, [email protected].
ReplyDeleteMust find time to sneak out of house before Big Lots closes.
ReplyDeleteI can't speak for the rest of the country, but I know for a fact that Meijer currently carries them. (I saw them earlier today. Meijer is Michigan based and in a few surrounding states.)
ReplyDeleteOMG 16.000 to 10.000.000 !!!
ReplyDeleteWhat happens to the counter?
What will be the new banner like?
Do we get a crazy new Madmax comic?
Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!!
The only big lots by me never had any. :(
ReplyDeleteAre these the same toys coming to the us in the blind bags?
I never saw those ponies at any Big Lots, only Meijer.
ReplyDeleteLast time I went to BL, though, they only had one G3 pony in the entire store.
The Midwest gets justice! Meijers are common in Ohio/Michigan/Kentucky/Indiana :D
ReplyDeleteYea, Meijer still has the 4 packs of molded ponies. I am willing to do pickup orders for people.
ReplyDeleteJust click my name for the link to my website with info on how to order.
Well, liquidating overstock is kind of what Big Lots does. It only makes sense that stuff isn't there forever.
ReplyDeleteWow this is really lame, because they're the only pony toys I even want.
ReplyDelete...Pretty sure I saw these in Wal-Mart today, based on Seth's description.
ReplyDeleteA local Big Lots told me they get their truck in every Monday. They also said last Monday they didn't get a truck because it was memorial day weekend. So if all Big Lots get their trucks the same day and Lindsay looked at her store before today, chances are they were just sold out since they hadn't restocked in two weeks.. Can anyone check their Big Lots (if it was carrying them before) and let us know if they still have them?
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit confused as to which toys these are. Are we talking about the ponies that are about the same size as the brushable versions, except with fully molded hair and come in the gift set with Celestia and Spike? Or are these the itty bitty ponies similar to the European blind-bag toys?
ReplyDeleteI really would love to see more of the main cast as the larger molded-hair ponies beyond Twilight, Pinkie, and Applejack.
The whole concept of Big Lots is that they carry overstock and 'we couldn't sell this the first time' items so their entire stock is subject to changes and items may vary greatly between stores.
ReplyDeleteWow, gone already? None of the big lots where I live ever got them in. They're still carrying G3 ponies here.
ReplyDeleteMine still has singles picked up my applejack today.
ReplyDeleteI never even knew Big lots even had these! and now it's too late!!

I live in canada, I have seen molded ponies at Toys'r'us, zellers, wal-mart, random grocery stores and paving the streets. I have the full set (little bit pissed about them not making a fluttershy other than that one RD recolor)
ReplyDelete...you jelly?
I put six hundred miles on my bike cleaning out and rechecking the Big Lots here. They never restocked after my first trip so I gave up.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this me and my brother dashed to the local biglots just before closing (we haven't tried there yet) there were no singles on display, just regular fluttershy but we went digging behind all the toys on the shelf and found a treasure trove. 3 twilight sparkles, 2 pinkie pies, 2 rainbow dashes, and 1 applejack. We cleaned the place out of all but 1 twilight and we are hitting the other 2 biglots in the area as soon as they open this morning
ReplyDeleteAfter checking 4 Big Lots in 3 states(Cheyenne WY, Salena KS, Topeka KS, and West Plains, MO) I can confirm this at least at those stores. There were no molded/pocket ponies of any kind, 4-pack Ponyville or single.
ReplyDeleteA couple of them did have Easter Fluttershy if anyone was looking for her.
@Chef Sandy
ReplyDeleteInteresting. They never did get a wide release, even when the show was new - Target, Walmart and Toys R Us never carried them, nor did they pop up in many grocery/drug stores. Perhaps they were discontinued because most stores weren't interested in stocking them at all. The previous line (G3.5) didn't seem to move well (I still find them on the shelves of many drug stores), so perhaps retailers were a bit wary of offering new ponies before the show was proven.
I was at meijer literally an hour ago gahhhhhh I should have looked for ponies >_<
ReplyDeleteMan I would love to get some confirmation on this. We still have a decent amount at my work place, just picked up Rainbow dash today since were having a tax free event. But if they wont be releasing them anymore than I may just have to go complete my set before its too late.
