Don't get too worked up about it you guys, the only good thing they ever provided was Robot Unicorn Attack. And yes I agree with the picture, let's bake them >;D
Stuff like Adult Swim always makes fun of or pokes at certain groups, I am not surprised by what Adult Swim said at all, they are a company that deals with mostly comedy, I took the comments as a joke and learned to laugh at my self, I suggest other bronies do the same
They haven't been worthwhile in years, They don't have anything good on anymore. If they liked it it would imply that FiM was as sucky as the stuff they put out now.
It's sad, but expected. The AS guys are just jealous that Lauren Faust managed to move out of working for Cartoon Network and have great success, while they're still circling the drain showing the same things they were five years ago.
Maybe they should follow her example and find someplace they could have more creative control!
Adult Swim? You mean 14-year-old Swim? That thing that has neer shown anything that appeals to anyone with half a brain and a shred of maturity?
Can't say I'm altogether surprised or, indeed, affected by this. Those guys have no power or influence anyway. More worriedd about the newscasters that might actually influence peoples' opinions and paranoia...
Adult Swim is the guy who likes to make fun of everything, without really meaning it. And bronies can be sorta creepy if you look at us from the wrong angle (that is, the angle the media is presenting. Argh!).
I think the above image is accurate. 90% of the programming is for people that are already Baked. Why else would you find these retarded shit they show funny?
Yea, Adult swim used to be all I watched. I don't watch any TV anymore. Hell, only reason I watch MLP is because of YouTube.
I turned my back on Cartoon Network as a whole when they betrayed their promise of all cartoons, all the time. Now they show bullshit live action drivel. They are the new MTV.
Bronies and Furries can seem creepy, but in all reality their both all around normal and stuff. I was sorta mad, but Adult Swim makes fun all the time. Besides, Ponies is so much better then some of the shows they put on there. Ugh....
Oh, it's just Adult Swim. They pull stuff like this all the time. It's better than Fox News, since there are some people out there who actually believe what they say.
I'm interested to see ANY remotely notable source talk about the brony craze. I hope these news tidbits keep coming, otherwise I'd never hear about them.
They're joking, guys. I've watched adult swim long enough to know they joke about pretty much everything they say. I think they approve of bronies actually. They've known about us for a bit already.
Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast was a great show. Home Movies was a fantastic show. Superjail is awesome. I also love Tim & Eric and other Adult Swim shows. They also helped make certain great anime popular like Cowboy Bebop and FLCL.
I'm not saying Adult Swim doesn't have its fair share of crap. I hate Squidbillies, I hate Assy McGee, and I hate most of the stuff on Adult Swim these days but to say they always sucked and never once made a good cartoon is just wrong. Don't get so upset over a little joke.
I wouldn't be surprised if the guys at Adult Swim are secretly bronies.
I would only take this as an insult if instead of 'moist', they put bronies between furries and something else that could be considered creepy. Like 2girls1cup or some shit.
Dude, the number of people taking offense to [AS] is hilarious. Most of the things [AS] does is in good, and for the most part, clean humor. Hell, it's a pretty large step up from the FOX problem- and that one was serious! Lighten up, people. And besides, we aren't as bad as furries, but we're more scary than the word moist! That counts for something!
lol Adult Swim. It's mostly just cartoons that apparently STILL have a "zomg, we're a cartoon with sex jokes and swearing" mindset, even though that was only really a noteworthy thing back in the mid-late 90's when it was actually something new for TV.
At least FOX, and to an extent, Comedy Central calmed down and got more casual with adult situations in cartoons, but Adult Swim simply insists that it STILL needs to be shoved down our throats to unnecessary extreme levels.
AssyMcGee, Pilot Canidate for Goddess, changing TOM from a badass mech to a toy robot, 12 oz Mouse, Dinky Crow, Tim & Eric, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Xavier, Milk-Chan, Shin-chan, Tenchi Muyo's Hover-Bikini Adventure, Oblongs, and THEY'RE GONNA EDIT AND TONE DOWN PANTY & STOCKING.
infamous, but met with fame nonetheless. That means the herd is finally becoming significant in Pop Culture. we must rejoice that we are with those who saw the dawn rise. Be proud that we are gaining enemies. Be proud that these are symbols of our growth. Like Christianity, not all see the good in the Herd.
I think all the Adult Swim hate on here is unwarranted. Sure, they've given us some bad stuff, but they've also made some of the best cartoons of the past decade. Home Movies, Metalocalypse, Frisky Dingo, and Superjail are all fantastic. So was Stroker and Hoop, for the five minutes it was on the air before they cancelled it anyway.
And then there's the Venture Brothers, which for my money is the best cartoon on TV (ponies being a very close second, of course.) Which is funny since they're complete opposites in terms of themes, tone, and style.
Hey, [AS] did the first three seasons of Venture Bros., they can't be all bad. It sounds like this was just a bump joke that didn't quite work (although it's hard to judge without seeing the video).
Do you blame them? I mean, there were a heap of ponies over on ponychan defending someone accused of rape without knowing the details, I mean, that's pretty damned creepy if you ask me!
I guess Adult Swim are properly butthurt over the whole pony craze. Little Pony. I used to watch Robot Chicken, Because all the adult fans that they lost (and that will lose after this) have gone to watch My before it turned into shit. Now I watch My little Pony. Oddly enough, my life has improved over the last few months >_>
I agree, Adult Swim isnt 100% bad. Home Movies, Older eps of Aqua Teen, and some Robot Chicken sketches are actually pretty decent. I even genuinely enjoyed a lot of The Boondocks.
And Adult Swim has never had a bad choice for anime.
But, quite a lot of adult swim originals are just "shock humour for the sake of having shock humour" rather than having any purpose to such humour.
I think everypony is getting worked up over nothing. When have the commercial bumps for AS ever been presented in a serious fashion? Half the time, they make fun of themselves.
If anything, I wouldn't deny it's probably their attempt to rouse us into joining the forums and post like we have on news sites. Don't forget, that while it's the US branch's comment it, the UK branch has the license for the show.
>And Adult Swim has never had a bad choice for anime. Oh they have had some really awful anime, you remember Pilot Candidate? It was so bad they dropped it after only a few episodes.
Furries are fans of anthropomorphic animals and related artistic expression. Talking ponies are anthropomorphic animals. Everyone here's a furry, whether they like it or not.
Fun activity time: Compare your reaction to the word "furries" with the reaction you first had to "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"
Gee, talk about being offended, some of you guys. Yes, I find it ironic that THE signature channel for delivering juvenile adult cartoon humor to equally juvenile adults (and I'll admit, I love Metalocalypse), would diss another cartoon fanbase.
But even if they're serious, and I doubt they are, wow. Big deal. Why get so worked up about it?
Stop complaining, and stop drawing attention to bad press!
Complaining and reacting to trolls is how furries became the butt monkeys of the internet. Trolls troll furries because they know they can get a reaction out of them.
If we want to avoid this fate, we must be strong and love and tolerate the shit out of the trolls. We must ignore bad press and prove it wrong by being cool.
I don't mind people poking fun at the whole "brony" phenomenon. It's admittedly ridiculous (I love ridiculous) and in many ways deserves some lighthearted ribbing.
I am starting to get tired of everyone using the same old parent's basement/virgin/comparison to furries cliches, though. That doesn't feel fun as much as it reeks of jumping on a bandwagon for the sake of generating buzz.
Meh, nothing to get worked up about. They make fun of everything in their bumps, even things they like. The bump isn't anything we should take seriously, if anything it's a sign we're leaking more and more into popular culture.
From the outside looking in, bronies probably do look creepy. A lot of what they say is just tongue-in-cheek anyway, so I wouldn't take it so seriously.
Also, in response to all the Adult Swim hate, I rather like some of Adult Swim's programs, although I agree it has declined in recent years. I remember watching Adult Swim beginning to end some 5 years ago, but they've overused Family Guy, American Dad, and King of the Hill so much I can't even enjoy those programs anymore, and that's all they air before midnight most days.
Yeah I stopped watching Adult Swim some time ago, not even sure what they actually show anymore. Comedy shows are suppose to make fun of things though, so it's no big deal.
@Anonymous lol @ misinterpretation of a commonplace term.
Being a "fan" of anthropomorphic animals does not make one a furry, at least not in a sense that the vast majority of the furry fandom would recognize as legitimate. Unless they're just really desperate for members these days, I'm pretty sure most furries wouldn't recognize you as one of them if you just happen to like animated Disney movies. There's more to it than just finding anthropomorphic creatures interesting, if that was all it took then it's safe to say the furry fandom would be far larger than it actually is, and probably far less likely to trigger people's creepy meters.
It's when you start trying to dress up like Pinkie Pie or have an "attraction" to Fluttershy that you've crossed that line.
I've always found that bumpers tend to be there to make jokes about the shows. A British station called E4 likes to use bumpers to point out that alot of their shows are just repeats from their parent station while an Irish station called 3E (unrelated to the above station or the convention) has a voice over that has a bit of a creepy fetish for Peter from Family Guy. Just don't worry about it, It was probably just a joke.
Nothing wrong with that. They said we are creepy, and TBH if I was close-minded and my only knowledge of the show was the previous generations I would say the same exact thing. I think people who talk about Bronies on live television should really do some research about bronies before even mentioning it. I'm sure It wouldn't be as creepy if the show was just called Friendship is Magic minus the My Little Pony part. Which angers me that when people think of MLP they think of the horrid old generations. I like the brony community, and its sad to see the media bashing on it. Its a rarity (see what I did there :D) these days to be in such a great 'peaceful' community especially on the internet:D. One more note before I post this wall of text: Adult Swim was the ones that put Peewee's playhouse on their network, and that's not creepy?
Is the "MOIST" a reference to Dead Like Me? Extremely great series on show time a while back. The main character's mother felt that the word moist was somehow sexual, and didn't like it being said. At the end of the first or second episode, the main character rearranged some letters magnets on a fridge to spell out the word moist as a way of saying "I'm alright." That of course was after she died, and did it as a ghost. Go watch the series, it's good.
Haha, I could care less what Adult Swim has to say about us, there are creepy people in every fandom imaginable and there always will be but that doesn't mean that all furries or bronies are. Quite frankly we are better off not having people who think like-mindedly to Adult Swim be part of the MLP fandom, people like that ruin communities.
Adult Swim has an alright lineup, they have some nice alternative shows that can be fun to watch.
Their writers just like to make fun of everything, including themselves and everything else that seems to be in current headlines. Nothing new here, I'm just taking it with a grain of salt and a chuckle.
Ironically, I think they have furries and bronies in their midst that told them they should put it on their banner, just to make even more fun of themselves.
As a furry I can understand thinking we're creepy There are a few weird-os And I can understand thinking moist is creepy Mooooooiiiiiiiiiissssstttttttt *shudder* but thinking bronies are creepy? Creeped out by a range of teenagers and adults who talk about love, tolerance and rainbows? Besides, I'm sure they're only joking
"Moist" - I didn't remember the Dead Like Me possibility. I thought it might be a reference to Dr. Horrible's minion.
On anthropomorphism, an awful lot of Furrys have said "It was Disney's Jungle Book/Robin Hood that got me interested." The debate on "What is Furry?" has been going on for 20 years with many good arguments for things which shouldn't be under the umbrella, but it's not going to be settled anytime soon. The closest thing to a real definition is: A Furry is someone willing to call themself one.
Brony fandom feels separate to me. It has its own lingo, sites, attitude, rules and a whole lot of energy. The art is fantastic, EqD is awesome, it's exciting to watch. Of course you've sucked in some Furries, but I know an equal amount that have said 'eh, it's not my thing'. MLP:FiM is great, and I blew off watching it for months, then did with low expectations, like probably every other Brony out there.
Sadly, I think it's going to be a Canada & US thing. Every Canadian out there can list a ton of reasons how the country is different from the US, but to anyone not sharing the continent they're considered indistinguishable from Americans.
Coming from the network that only get's the new episodes of 2 of it's 4 good shows(Family Guy, American Dad) a week after they first release?
The only thing I ever watch on that network anymore is new episodes of Robot Chicken, because I can get all of my King of the Hill from Netflix, and I own the season DVDs of Robot Chicken.
I expected them to have some Bronies in their ranks, but I can't honestly say I care.
That said, if Colbert or Stewart trash Bronies I'll probably cry.
-read the comments and saw a few bashing furries- Guys, don't make fun of furries, they're basically the same as us; a misunderstood fandom that gets too much hate and gets stereotyped (baby-men for us bronies, guys who clop to dog sex for them), it's hugely hypocritical to treat them badly if we don't like it. I'm not a furry or anything, and the majority didn't seem to be doing much, but remember that.
It's a comedy network, they make fun of everything. The banner they have for their other anime board on their forum is ponies, that pretty much proves it was in good fun.
Guys, if anything this is a compliment. It is odd for adult men to be this excited about a children's show. You can't expect comedians not to have fun with that. As people have said before me some people over at AS are probably bronies themselves. Please don't spam them or anything.
Either way I have to agree with you. The claymation was average and it was clear that the writers didn't understand enough about Christianity to make any commentary with actual bite.
Moral Oral wasn't so much a commentary on Christianity as it was a commentary on socially conservative, psychologically repressed, morally misguided Christians.
Equestria Daily, on behalf of a growing number of concerned bronies, please hear my plea.
I believe that posting every single time someone in the media criticizes MLP:FiM or its fanbase is doing more harm to said fanbase than good. I'd hate to see bronies turn into a defensive angry lot with a persecution complex, like a certain other internet subculture~
Everyone, just relax. Love and tolerate. Stop getting angry or defensive that some people don't like the show, or even make fun of it. I don't want to see bronies go the way of the furry fandom and become this elitist bunch who shun "those poor little mundanes who just don't get us."
Guys calm down a little. Its AS they mock shit all the time. Besides its hard to call other things creepy considering the nature of some of the shows they air.
To all the folk who are wondering why "moist" is a creepy word here -- It's referencing the currently running show and very popular sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" in which one of the characters finds the word "moist" creepy and unsettling. It's a big running gag in one of the episodes, blown into hilarity by the also currently popular Niel Patrick Harris' performance in that episode.
@Anonymous Co sign with this person right here. Have we become so Jaded that we can't take some light ribbing. This wasn't even a scathing News Report or Article Construed to make us look like Perverts or Pedophiles. We all have to laugh at ourselves sometimes. We're people who like a show about magical talking ponies. Of course we are gonna get roasted. But here is the thing that needs to happen take that defensive attitude and apply it when it needs to be used and not for every single comdey bit used for satire. When there is an article calling older adults who watch this show the downfall of society and pedophiles call me other than that chill.
@Anonymous A lot of people seem to be overlooking your link. Obviously anything negative Adult Swim said about FiM was in jest, if they have a pony banner on their website.
Adult Swim (and Cartoon Network) are owned by a jerk-ass CEO who only cares about getting money and not so much about producing quality cartoons. (this is the guy that OKed the real-life shows)
Anyways I'm not surprised since Adult Swim sucks big time now and that the CEO is probably more-or-less one of those people
eh kinda lame that they would do this. I mean I like some of the stuff on [adult swim], but it's been a LONG TIME since they came out with a decent cartoon. Also, there's no need to tolerate intolerance.
I agree. I'd like to see a raid of sorts on them. Or at least "making" them not fear what they don't even know. Nevertheless, Bronies are a subculture of the subculture that is Anonymous. Let's get 'em.
Amazing that a network centralized around animated shows popular among men 18-30 has JUST NOW learned the word 'Brony.'
I'm not insulted for the light-hearted ribbing at all. I'm just surprised it took them so long. I was starting to fear we were slipping from the podium of relevancy! Good to see we're still getting nods here and there.
NO "raids". We can't go raiding every mainstream place that does something like this. It'll only be worse for us in the long run.
Unless your definition of "raid" is an LaT one in which we drum up real discussion about the show, with links to ep.1, etc. but no raids like 4chan raids. it's simply bad pubilicity.
Ahh, don't get upset over this. It's adult swim. They torture their own viewers on a regular basis. Just laugh it off.
And what's with the people saying "you have to be baked" to watch anything on [as]? That's essentially the same ad hominem attack they used on that Fox News segment in regards to MLP. Do you really want to adopt the tactics of a fox news pundit?
Not to mention that there is overlap between adult swim fans and bronies.
So I guess they secretly resent all the people that played Robot Unicorn Attack? If these guys know what's good for them, they'll start airing Friendship is Magic.
hey we bronies arent creepy only those who have a sick mind so we like the show cause is awsome unlike the crap there showing t.v. these days adult swin is going down the drain these days so the only thing to them to do is throw dirt at shows that have more ratings they have seriously there bunch of inmature childs.
It's a joke you guys. Also, Seth, if you post every time anyone criticizes the fandom, we'll eventually devolve into an angry defensive bunch with a persecution complex, like a certain other internet subculture I could name.
@Shmoogy I know right?? These days I feel more depressed when watching it then actually entertained. It's like "Why am I watching this? I must be at rock bottom."

Soon as I saw the first sentence of the bump I saw it coming.
ReplyDeleteI really couldn't give a single fuck though.
*Shrug* I find judging a show without watching it pretty creepy. ;)
ReplyDeletewhich show was it?
ReplyDeletemeh adult swim is mildly retarded nowadays not really worth watching anymore
ReplyDelete:[ you know, I don't even care, eventually they'll be assimilated into the herd, in which case they'll be met with love and tolerance.
ReplyDelete'Cause you know... Adult Swim itself isn't already full of creepy trash like Tim and Eric. /sarcasm
ReplyDeletethey're just jealous that my little pony is better than any of their shows these days.
ReplyDeleteAdult Swim is a Shell of it's former Self
ReplyDeleteDon't get too worked up about it you guys, the only good thing they ever provided was Robot Unicorn Attack.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I agree with the picture, let's bake them >;D
You guys are getting way too butthurt over it, it was just a joke.
ReplyDeleteBut everyone DO take this with a grain of salt no need to get up in arms about it.
ReplyDeleteMeh. Not many good shows they have on anymore, i hardly care about their opinion of quality entertainment and the people that enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteStuff like Adult Swim always makes fun of or pokes at certain groups, I am not surprised by what Adult Swim said at all, they are a company that deals with mostly comedy, I took the comments as a joke and learned to laugh at my self, I suggest other bronies do the same

The irony of a division of Cartoon Network bashing people interested in one of the best things to happen to animation in years is burning my brain.
ReplyDeleteTheir "Other Anime" board has a pony banner;
ReplyDeletehttp://boards.adultswim.com/t5/Other-Anime/bd-p/4
:)
to me it seems that bumps are always sardonic little jokes, meant to be fun!
@Marcoooootje1
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with you on three counts here.
1) Death Note
2) Give Up, Robot
3) Give Up, Robot 2
This bump was right before "Assy Mcgee." I rest my case...
ReplyDeletegive it a year and they'll be running it on their line-up. they seems to specialize in recycled programming.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous I lol'd hard
ReplyDeleteAS is just jelly. Cause, you know, they don't have ponies on their channel.
ReplyDeleteThey totally should though. That would make Adult Swim about 20% cooler.
@B-Man
ReplyDelete>>Death Note
>>good
Choose one etc.
Adult Swim? You mean 14-year-old Swim? That thing that has neer shown anything that appeals to anyone with half a brain and a shred of maturity?
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm altogether surprised or, indeed, affected by this. Those guys have no power or influence anyway. More worriedd about the newscasters that might actually influence peoples' opinions and paranoia...

@B-Man
ReplyDeleteWell yeah it's viewable on their site, but it's not like they made it.
@Drax
ReplyDeleteRegular show is actually the second most popular cartoon on TV right now. though it is not part of AS
You know i'm quite surprised. I figured they'd be all over the pony bandwagon.... guess it's just not the same Adult Swim anymore.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteBut MLP isn't anime...
Let's wait on a video before we make this troll any more successful than it already is.
ReplyDeleteoh and PLEASE DON'T FREAK OUT ABOUT IT, IT'S ADULT SWIM! THEY DO COMEDY.
ReplyDelete-_-
@AnonymousEXACTLY
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's not worth getting upset about. It's a joke. Besides most people think we're a pretty weird but harmles group.
ReplyDeleteBronies and Furries can seem creepy, but in all reality their both all around normal and stuff. I was sorta mad, but Adult Swim makes fun all the time. Besides, Ponies is so much better then some of the shows they put on there. Ugh....
ReplyDeleteOh, it's just Adult Swim. They pull stuff like this all the time. It's better than Fox News, since there are some people out there who actually believe what they say.
ReplyDeletepics or it didnt happen seth
ReplyDeleteBy the way, must every negative mention of the fandom be paraded about as news? :/
ReplyDeleteI'm just gonna go ahead and say they're just jealous they didn't come up with a show that became an internet subculture
ReplyDeleteAdult Swim is always poking fun at things, I don't think they mean any harm with it.
ReplyDelete@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteSeth secretly wants us to raid them!
So...no ponies on cartoon network?
ReplyDeleteAdult Swim has NEVERE made an entertaining cartoon. And by cartoon I mean a show that is ANIMATED.
ReplyDeleteAS makes "shows" that are barely qualified to be descirbed as "puppet shows for drug-addled pseudo-hipsters"
Adult...Swim...has always sucked. ALWAYS.
Guys, Adult Swim is probably full of bronies. They always make fun of things that they are fans of.
ReplyDeleteThe president of AS is a big anime fan, for example, as are many of the staff, but they're constantly making fun of anime in their bumps.
Likewise, I bet they have more than a few bronies in their midst, but it's their nature to make fun of them anyway.
AS hardly ever insults anyone unless it's meant as a sarcastic shout-out. They love us.
Plus, that banner on their Other Anime board proves they know some of the more dominant brony memes.
@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see ANY remotely notable source talk about the brony craze. I hope these news tidbits keep coming, otherwise I'd never hear about them.
@BagOfChips That's the whole joke.
ReplyDeleteMLP: FiM parody in the next season of Robot Chicken. Calling it now.
Adult Swim has a point, you guys.
ReplyDeleteI mean, have you ever really thought about it? Put aside your bias for a second.
Mooooiiiissstt.
Creepy.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYou're not being very loving and tolerate.
I don't really mind, it's adult swim. they joke about everything.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI bet they animate Cupcakes and call it their own joke. :D
They're joking, guys. I've watched adult swim long enough to know they joke about pretty much everything they say.
ReplyDeleteI think they approve of bronies actually. They've known about us for a bit already.
So much Adult Swim hate.
ReplyDeleteSpace Ghost Coast-to-Coast was a great show. Home Movies was a fantastic show. Superjail is awesome. I also love Tim & Eric and other Adult Swim shows. They also helped make certain great anime popular like Cowboy Bebop and FLCL.

I wouldn't be surprised if the guys at Adult Swim are secretly bronies.
I very much doubt they meant any harm by it. They do comedy, or at least attempt to do so.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem is there's idiots who believe everything they see on tv, but those people are idiots, and haters. And haters gonna hate.
@The Linker
ReplyDeletethat's insane, there's nothing creepy about "moist"
The Adult Swim writers make fun of everything, including themselves and their audience. This should be taken more as a comedic roast then an attack.
ReplyDeletePeople still watch Adult Swim?
ReplyDeleteI would only take this as an insult if instead of 'moist', they put bronies between furries and something else that could be considered creepy. Like 2girls1cup or some shit.
ReplyDeleteAdult Swim roasts everything. I for one lol'd a bit. But that was like the first time I ever watched anything on Adult Swim in like, a year?
ReplyDeleteIt's all in good fun!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, before my Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, they had done My Little Pony: Apocalypse Ponies, one of my favorite Robot Chicken sketches.
We are BRONIES!!!
We'll love 'em
We'll tolerate 'em
We'll shi... um... wait, that ain't how it's supposed to go...
well anyway, we can take a good ribbing. Smile back and love them, because they occasionally do land a good joke, or an innocent troll.
No need for a Brony stampede! Hold yer horses!
I would point out they gave Tim and Eric money to make five seasons, and apparently a movie.
ReplyDeleteTheir opinion on the creepyness of anything is rather suspect.
I, for one, am proud to creep out adult swim more than the word "moist".
ReplyDeleteAdult Swim are sardonic bastards about everything, there's no reason to be all up in arms about a joke.
wait does anyone have a link? I have yet to see proof......
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeletenope not yet

@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteTHISTHISTHISTHISTHIS.
They already did the "Apocalypse Pony" skit with the old generations. If there's even one brony on their staff, I'd bet money it's going to happen.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeletehey drinky crow and Shin-chan are awesome.
Hey, you guys are taking this really well! I'm impressed! :o

ReplyDeleteWait we're not supposed to be creepy as hell? That's what I've been going for all along...
ReplyDeleteAs for moist *ugh* shuddershudder....
@BillyBatman I have a friend who is genuinely freaked out by the word moist. If you want to bother her, just say it really slowly.
ReplyDeleteMooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiist.
Last time I did that she threw stuff at me. Good times. ^^
So, what did it actually say?
ReplyDeleteSOURCE????
ReplyDeleteHah, I know I sure wouldn't try to alienate folks involved in the #1 most popular meme right now. There goes your primary demo!
ReplyDeleteQueue rapid backpedaling in 3... 2... 1...
Can they say good things about rival networks?
ReplyDeleteHey, [AS] did the first three seasons of Venture Bros., they can't be all bad. It sounds like this was just a bump joke that didn't quite work (although it's hard to judge without seeing the video).
ReplyDeleteDo you blame them? I mean, there were a heap of ponies over on ponychan defending someone accused of rape without knowing the details, I mean, that's pretty damned creepy if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteI guess Adult Swim are properly butthurt over the whole pony craze.
ReplyDeleteLittle Pony. I used to watch Robot Chicken,
Because all the adult fans that they lost (and that will lose after this) have gone to watch My before it turned into shit. Now I watch My little Pony. Oddly enough, my life has improved over the last few months >_>
Let's love and tolerate the shit out of them!!!
And not a single fuck was given that day.
ReplyDeleteI like a lot of [as] stuff, but yeah... not nice.
ReplyDeleteNo video, but I rewinded the DVR far enough to screenshot the bump with my camera. Yes, there was music. No, I don't remember what it was.
ReplyDeletehttp://sadpanda.us/images/541530-NTMKS9Z.gif
(Sorry about the shaky angle)
@djTeka
ReplyDeleteThat's...
Well, it's not as bad as the fox news thing. And at least we're below "furries" and not above them.
But still. I don't approve.
It's not like the Swim's had any worthwhile content on it in forever...
ReplyDelete@djTeka
ReplyDeleteHa! That was actually quite funny.
Lighten up, bronies. This is Adult Swim. It was a joke. And honestly, quite a funny one. Don't hate, tolerate.
It's actually funnier than most of their programming these days.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI agree, Adult Swim isnt 100% bad.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, I wouldn't deny it's probably their attempt to rouse us into joining the forums and post like we have on news sites.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, that while it's the US branch's comment it, the UK branch has the license for the show.
Um... They realise that adult male animation fans are their own demographic, right? So there's a pretty good chance of overlap? Way to fail.
ReplyDeleteSo we're better than terrorism, and worst than the word "moist".
ReplyDeleteWhere does that put us?
>And Adult Swim has never had a bad choice for anime.
ReplyDeleteOh they have had some really awful anime, you remember Pilot Candidate? It was so bad they dropped it after only a few episodes.
Furries are fans of anthropomorphic animals and related artistic expression. Talking ponies are anthropomorphic animals. Everyone here's a furry, whether they like it or not.
ReplyDeleteFun activity time: Compare your reaction to the word "furries" with the reaction you first had to "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"
AS gained a bit of my respect back when i heard they picked up Durarara, but they need to respect the pony!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Seth Green a Brony? :\
ReplyDelete@Pecan
ReplyDeletepossibly http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__BgIrAtMG2g/TLeMgKU79LI/AAAAAAAAAgM/JVeI-HFWc-w/s400/seth+green.jpg
Gee, talk about being offended, some of you guys.
ReplyDeleteYes, I find it ironic that THE signature channel for delivering juvenile adult cartoon humor to equally juvenile adults (and I'll admit, I love Metalocalypse), would diss another cartoon fanbase.
But even if they're serious, and I doubt they are, wow. Big deal. Why get so worked up about it?
My (adult, mind you) friends would have less less respect for me if I told them I watch adult swim than MLP:FiM.
ReplyDeleteI like adult swim.. but lately adult swim = stoner vision
ReplyDeleteStop complaining, and stop drawing attention to bad press!
ReplyDeleteComplaining and reacting to trolls is how furries became the butt monkeys of the internet. Trolls troll furries because they know they can get a reaction out of them.
If we want to avoid this fate, we must be strong and love and tolerate the shit out of the trolls. We must ignore bad press and prove it wrong by being cool.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoYQjKA2IJo
ReplyDelete^This.
I know it's old, but what the hay; it's about Ponies, and it's from Adult Swim.
So sue me. :D
I don't mind people poking fun at the whole "brony" phenomenon. It's admittedly ridiculous (I love ridiculous) and in many ways deserves some lighthearted ribbing.
ReplyDeleteI am starting to get tired of everyone using the same old parent's basement/virgin/comparison to furries cliches, though. That doesn't feel fun as much as it reeks of jumping on a bandwagon for the sake of generating buzz.
Not counting the anime there is only one show AS has on it that I like, Robot Chicken and that is cause I really love stop motion
ReplyDeleteAdult swim continues to be irrelevant.
ReplyDelete*woo hoo*
Meh, nothing to get worked up about. They make fun of everything in their bumps, even things they like. The bump isn't anything we should take seriously, if anything it's a sign we're leaking more and more into popular culture.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that they said the word moist weirds them out makes me want to assume this is a joke and nothing more
ReplyDeleteAt least half the comments above are not meeting the pony standard of approval...
ReplyDeleteFrom the outside looking in, bronies probably do look creepy. A lot of what they say is just tongue-in-cheek anyway, so I wouldn't take it so seriously.
ReplyDeleteAlso, in response to all the Adult Swim hate, I rather like some of Adult Swim's programs, although I agree it has declined in recent years.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeletelol @ misinterpretation of a commonplace term.
It's when you start trying to dress up like Pinkie Pie or have an "attraction" to Fluttershy that you've crossed that line.
>along with furries and the word "moist"
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the herd...
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteFurries are creepy fuckers. What else is new?
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I don't give a damn.
ReplyDeleteIs the "MOIST" a reference to Dead Like Me? Extremely great series on show time a while back. The main character's mother felt that the word moist was somehow sexual, and didn't like it being said. At the end of the first or second episode, the main character rearranged some letters magnets on a fridge to spell out the word moist as a way of saying "I'm alright." That of course was after she died, and did it as a ghost. Go watch the series, it's good.
ReplyDeleteI am horribly offended by their usage of "moist"
ReplyDeleteSeriously you guys, we need to stop them from using that word. It's terrible.
~Scratch
Haha, I could care less what Adult Swim has to say about us, there are creepy people in every fandom imaginable and there always will be but that doesn't mean that all furries or bronies are. Quite frankly we are better off not having people who think like-mindedly to Adult Swim be part of the MLP fandom, people like that ruin communities.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI've been saying this since Winter Wrap up
AS: Y U NO PONI?
They also hate anime and are gearing up to run Panty and Stocking the second the dubbing's complete.
ReplyDeleteAS enjoys their lulz. Come on, I'm certain that at least 20% of us have done some teasing trolling like this before. Relax.
Moist? Furies? Mlp?
ReplyDeleteCreepy tiem?
"Rainbow Dash makes me moist."
/Can't see the bump post, websense blocks it. Did I hit all creepy points at once?
Adult Swim has an alright lineup, they have some nice alternative shows that can be fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteTheir writers just like to make fun of everything, including themselves and everything else that seems to be in current headlines. Nothing new here, I'm just taking it with a grain of salt and a chuckle.
Ironically, I think they have furries and bronies in their midst that told them they should put it on their banner, just to make even more fun of themselves.
Oh, oh, oh! You know what Adult Swim needs to do? Air My Little Pony!
ReplyDeleteWhat? It's an adult show.
Please, please, PLEASE make fun of FiM on Robot Chicken.
ReplyDeleteApocalypse Ponies was great.
You guys are just jelly.
Yeah I saw this on adult swim last night. It made me feel a little sad, but love and tolerate, I guess.
ReplyDeleteAs a furry I can understand thinking we're creepy
ReplyDeleteThere are a few weird-os
And I can understand thinking moist is creepy
Mooooooiiiiiiiiiissssstttttttt *shudder*
but thinking bronies are creepy?
Creeped out by a range of teenagers and adults who talk about love, tolerance and rainbows?
Besides, I'm sure they're only joking
ITT: Butthurt
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear "moist" I think of delicious cake.
ReplyDeleteNot so creepy anymore.
Just don't give them reactions. Like my father always said: "Keep your head low, and your mouth shut."
ReplyDeleteDon't feed the parasprites.
Don't feed the trolls.
I rarely watch AS anymore. Unless King of the Hill is on, of course.
ReplyDelete@Fleymevas
ReplyDeleteIf you knew what 'delicious cake' were slang for online, you'd think it was more creepy than before.
"Moist" - I didn't remember the Dead Like Me possibility. I thought it might be a reference to Dr. Horrible's minion.
ReplyDeleteOn anthropomorphism, an awful lot of Furrys have said "It was Disney's Jungle Book/Robin Hood that got me interested." The debate on "What is Furry?" has been going on for 20 years with many good arguments for things which shouldn't be under the umbrella, but it's not going to be settled anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I ever watch on that network anymore is new episodes of Robot Chicken, because I can get all of my King of the Hill from Netflix, and I own the season DVDs of Robot Chicken.
I expected them to have some Bronies in their ranks, but I can't honestly say I care.
That said, if Colbert or Stewart trash Bronies I'll probably cry.
I'm still pretty convinced that we are kind of creepy. I mean, look at all the fanfiction that I uaually refuse to admit exists.
ReplyDeleteWHY HAVE SO MANY OF YOU TAKEN THIS SERIOUSLY
ReplyDelete-read the comments and saw a few bashing furries-
ReplyDeleteGuys, don't make fun of furries, they're basically the same as us; a misunderstood fandom that gets too much hate and gets stereotyped (baby-men for us bronies, guys who clop to dog sex for them), it's hugely hypocritical to treat them badly if we don't like it.
I'm not a furry or anything, and the majority didn't seem to be doing much, but remember that.
But that was off-topic, about AS:
ReplyDeleteIt's a comedy network, they make fun of everything. The banner they have for their other anime board on their forum is ponies, that pretty much proves it was in good fun.
I'm still mad at them for canceling Moral Orel, the best drama-comedy in the history of animation. It was also visually stunning.
ReplyDeleteAt least they still have ATHF. That shit's funny.
i saw it last night, part of me thought it was my imagination and the rest knew it would happen.
ReplyDelete@Taco Wiz
ReplyDeleteI meant in the history of TELEVISED animation. Crap.
Guys, if anything this is a compliment. It is odd for adult men to be this excited about a children's show. You can't expect comedians not to have fun with that. As people have said before me some people over at AS are probably bronies themselves. Please don't spam them or anything.
ReplyDeleteLook on the brightside, we beat out moist! We are creepier than one of the five least popular words.
ReplyDeletewoo
@Taco Wiz
ReplyDeleteEither way I have to agree with you. The claymation was average and it was clear that the writers didn't understand enough about Christianity to make any commentary with actual bite.
This is why I don't care for Adult Swim.... -___-
ReplyDeleteHere's the bump.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsaNf32pKx4
Being a creepy person has never been this cool.
ReplyDeleteDiggit.
@ziggr
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Man. You guys freaking out on AS are getting trolled.
Hard.
They only do this to crap they like...
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteMoral Oral wasn't so much a commentary on Christianity as it was a commentary on socially conservative, psychologically repressed, morally misguided Christians.
Need I to remember everyone of the over-excited over-reactors here that Seth Green photo hugging Pinkie Pie?
ReplyDeleteIt's Adult Swim, guys, and that bump was pretty funny.
Besides, I like my furries and bronies moist :3 but not drippy.
Maybe "moist" was a reference to this image macro.. it's pretty widespread:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.lulzlunch.com/media/images/2011/03/01/1298984113656.jpg
didn't read all the comments so not sure if it's posted yet, the Adultswim bump is on youtube now
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsaNf32pKx4
Hehe....
ReplyDeleteI'm a Furry, and I'm also a Brony.
I suggest we get some Pony Fursuiters together and Flash Mob outside the [AS] Offices muttering "moist" the whole time. ^_q
Equestria Daily, on behalf of a growing number of concerned bronies, please hear my plea.
ReplyDeleteI believe that posting every single time someone in the media criticizes MLP:FiM or its fanbase is doing more harm to said fanbase than good.
Let's chill, people.
@Hermit Aeon
ReplyDeleteHell. I'm NOT a furry and I'd be up for this.
Except instead of muttering, let's use megaphones =O
If a true retarded call me a retarded , i wont be insulted lol
ReplyDeletesame thing here
Well, we are creepy.
ReplyDeleteHermit Aeon
ReplyDeleteYour making it really hard to love and tolerate you, bro.
Anonpony
ReplyDeleteIt's just a bit of Fun. They opened themselves up for it with that bump.
@Hermit Aeon Nope Nope Nope
ReplyDeleteGuys calm down a little. Its AS they mock shit all the time. Besides its hard to call other things creepy considering the nature of some of the shows they air.
ReplyDeleteTo all the folk who are wondering why "moist" is a creepy word here -- It's referencing the currently running show and very popular sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" in which one of the characters finds the word "moist" creepy and unsettling. It's a big running gag in one of the episodes, blown into hilarity by the also currently popular Niel Patrick Harris' performance in that episode.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Co sign with this person right here.
ReplyDeleteTL;DR PONY UP BRONIES AND FILLIES YOU KNOW BETTER
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteA lot of people seem to be overlooking your link. Obviously anything negative Adult Swim said about FiM was in jest, if they have a pony banner on their website.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsaNf32pKx4
ReplyDeleteHere it is.
Adult Swim (and Cartoon Network) are owned by a jerk-ass CEO who only cares about getting money and not so much about producing quality cartoons. (this is the guy that OKed the real-life shows)
ReplyDeleteAnyways I'm not surprised since Adult Swim sucks big time now and that the CEO is probably more-or-less one of those people
eh kinda lame that they would do this. I mean I like some of the stuff on [adult swim], but it's been a LONG TIME since they came out with a decent cartoon. Also, there's no need to tolerate intolerance.
ReplyDeleteAS always does this. Hell they probably have a few bronies working for them right now that gave them the idea.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'd like to see a raid of sorts on them. Or at least "making" them not fear what they don't even know. Nevertheless, Bronies are a subculture of the subculture that is Anonymous. Let's get 'em.
Eh, didn't seem too bad.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that a network centralized around animated shows popular among men 18-30 has JUST NOW learned the word 'Brony.'
I'm not insulted for the light-hearted ribbing at all. I'm just surprised it took them so long. I was starting to fear we were slipping from the podium of relevancy! Good to see we're still getting nods here and there.
@Agnitio Ex Machina
ReplyDeleteNO NO NO.
Creepier than moist?
ReplyDelete*snerk*
I think it's funny and moistly harmless.
Ahh, don't get upset over this. It's adult swim. They torture their own viewers on a regular basis. Just laugh it off.
ReplyDeleteAnd what's with the people saying "you have to be baked" to watch anything on [as]? That's essentially the same ad hominem attack they used on that Fox News segment in regards to MLP. Do you really want to adopt the tactics of a fox news pundit?
Not to mention that there is overlap between adult swim fans and bronies.
So I guess they secretly resent all the people that played Robot Unicorn Attack? If these guys know what's good for them, they'll start airing Friendship is Magic.
ReplyDeletehey we bronies arent creepy only those who have a sick mind so we like the show cause is awsome unlike the crap there showing t.v. these days adult swin is going down the drain these days so the only thing to them to do is throw dirt at shows that have more ratings they have seriously there bunch of inmature childs.
ReplyDeleteIt's a joke you guys.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Seth, if you post every time anyone criticizes the fandom, we'll eventually devolve into an angry defensive bunch with a persecution complex, like a certain other internet subculture I could name.
Ha. Moistly harmless. Thats a good one.
ReplyDeletethis was actually quite funny. It only means that we are taking over the world bit-by-bit.
ReplyDeleteI for one believe that [AS] needs a better dictionary, those things are not nearly that creepy.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, I know creepy.
Anyone want some links?
As for Bronies being under the umbrella as Furries, I agree and I see the same broad appeal as I do in the furry community.
ReplyDeleteI LOL'd at the Brony bump there..
Why do I get the feeling the majority AS is brony and they're only joking?
ReplyDelete@Shmoogy I know right?? These days I feel more depressed when watching it then actually entertained. It's like "Why am I watching this? I must be at rock bottom."
ReplyDeleteAnd not a single fuck was given that day.
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate ^_^
ReplyDeleteAhahaha. I'm sorry but I can't help but laugh, it's [AS], they're trollin.
ReplyDeleteTheir only purpose is to feed Trolls and give them material or something ?
ReplyDeleteAt this rate, they are gonna be obese...
This is midly annoying, all thing considered.
Feh. Adult Swim. I agree with Stark. They be Paraspritin'.
ReplyDeleteMLP will BE on adult swim in two years, mark my words.
ReplyDeleteNew word we just learned that we wish we could unlearn.
ReplyDeleteAdult Swim. [Uh-dolt Swim]
n. A television network within a television network which hates cartoon equines.
Updated all-time list of creepy weird things that scare us.
1: Fox News
2: Adult Swim
3: The word "Moist"
@ChromeCrash
ReplyDeleteI heard that.
@Anonymous I love Regular show, its the only thing worth watching on CN
ReplyDelete@The Linkerespecially when used in the "that makes me moist" meme
ReplyDeleteTheir just jealous cause no one watches them anymore.
ReplyDeletei LOL'D
ReplyDeleteThe MLP: FIM steam group said this was just a joke. I'm not sure if I believe them.
ReplyDeleteAs a proud furry AND brony...
ReplyDeleteiaintevenmad.jpg
Seriously, though. Getting mad at Adult Swim for this is like getting mad at FOX News for not actually reporting on real news.
the word "moist" --- Dead Like Me Reference seems a wee bit obscure . . .
ReplyDelete
