For those of you who are into the Yu-Gi-Oh scene, this crazy brony over on DA has created an entire card set for the game, including just about every pony you can imagine.
He has them all set up in one massive gallery, you can find that here!
Now someone get going on a MTG set! I haven't played in ages, but I bet Celestia and Luna would make awesome planeswalkers.
Also a second set!

I would totally do a MTG set.
ReplyDeleteIf I'd played recently enough to remember what a planeswalker is.
I would totally learn how to play Yu-gi-oh then go to a tournament and rock this deck.
ReplyDeleteI have like 3 decks somewhere, but I have no idea how to play....
ReplyDeleteOh Seth...
ReplyDeleteTsk tsk.
here i am to inform you again :P

Oh Celestia, Luna as a Planeswalker? What kind of deck would she rock? I could see Celestia as a White, possibly White/Green. Luna would balk at the thought of a Black deck, Blue wouldn't be her style since LOLWALLS and she is not a wall, Red is too much violence, Green... maybe, with all the mana generation. And Celestia would ban her from even trying White. Although maybe a multicolor would work best for her?
ReplyDelete...Listen to me ramble about ponies and Magic. This is about Yu-Gi-Oh, which I've never actually played! But still, looks cool.
Error on the Great and Powerful Trixies card: Her name is The Great and Powerful Trixie. Not just Trixie. There are many Trixies, but there can only be one Great and Powerful Trixie.
ReplyDeleteI used to play this as a kid. >_>
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is pretty awesome, in a nostalgic sort of way. I like how the serial number is MLP-FiM-something else. That's a nice little touch, lol.
Damn! This deck would be extremely competitive.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I would so do this.
ReplyDeleteOh mang, but Big Mac is OP.
ReplyDelete................Has 19 yugioh cards done.
ReplyDeletefffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-
This would be a very good deck, if it was legit!
ReplyDeletepssh. YuGiOh? MtG? Pokemon cards are where it's at. Somepony get on it!
ReplyDeleteI've actually already started work on some MtG cards. I currently have the mane six as legendary creatures, and Celestia as a planeswalker. Posted them on the Canterlot forums, too.
ReplyDeletemeh. It's not very well done. The whole deck is insanely overpowered. Forget it, I'll continue working on my own deck :)
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand....how do you even beat ponies?
my idea is ruineeeeeeeeed
ReplyDeleteActually. There already is an MTG card set in the making.~ I've got a .zip file of the ones that I know are currently done. ;3
ReplyDeleteTwilight's Library has to be one of the most broken cards I've ever seen. Twilight herself, too. Then there's The Magic of Friendship, Spitfire, Sonic Rainboom, Remilia Rarity, Ponies Stand Together, Philomena, Nopony Gets Left Behind (we need to get rid of Monster Reborn already), Light of the Moon, Fluttershy... you know, a lot of broken ones. I could get a friend and play some kind of Boggle variant to see who can come up with more ways to break some of these cards (and it'd be fun!). There are a few balanced ones, and a fair amount of bad ones, too (Big Mac is nothing special). It would benefit from being changed in favour of synergy, especially since the synergetic cards are usually the unplayable ones, and moved away from "I get whatever cards I want from wherever I want, then blow up your board for no cost".
ReplyDeleteBut, why do none of the custom cards I see ever have the wording right? It bugs me to see that.
im working on an MTG set...
ReplyDeletethat would be balanced...
and stuff....
Although these are good cards, that is the exact problem.. too good. Almost every single one of these would have to be limited to 1-per-deck and/or outright banned from tournament play, since I can see more then a few ways to kill someone in a very, very short number of turns. Big Macintosh has an awesome effect, but considering all the attack boosters in Yugioh (and this deck in particular), he can two-shot an opponent with full Life Points.
ReplyDeleteVery nice effort, but would need severe weakening and/or limits to each card for fairness.
The big problem with an MTG set is, with the heavy emphasis on friends and friendship, black would be severely underrepresented. Of the Mane Six, Rainbow Dash comes the closest (she'll do anything to win), but black is definitely not about Loyalty. (Unless it's other ponies' loyalty to you. Black is totally fine with that.)
ReplyDeleteNow I just need to get familiar with the rules of this game.
ReplyDeleteJESUS CHRIST! look at the synchro monsters!
ReplyDelete1 pony tuner + any non-tuner? This makes Reborn Tengu super abuseable!
>Hasn't played in ages
ReplyDelete>Mentions Planeswalkers
Planeswalkers are pretty recent bro, not even close to "ages" old.
Theres a pretty stable community of bronies on and about the official MTG forums, so I wouldn't be surprised if a set was made some time or another.
I made my own deck based off ponies... Just the main six, their "familiars", TRIXIE, Celestia and Nightmare Moon, and "Special" Pinkie Pie for monsters. Also, I screwed the rules, and made cards that add Monster and Spell/Trap card zones (Not TOTALLY unfair... Opponent gets the same amount), so you can have all the main six on the field. And you need all of them to get Celestia and Nightmare out. OR you can get them to their "Element Harmony" superform, and wipe the field...
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty OP, but my friends think it's hilarious.
@Dr. Derpenstien, PHD
ReplyDeleteSounds alot like crystal beasts
Ehh, this isn't really worth an article. You can easily make Yu-Gi-Oh card of your own right here: http://www.yugiohcardmaker.net/
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt's actually more like Six Samurai. They gain an extra effect when at least 1 (depending on which one) or 2 other ponies are on the field. Only diff is there can be only one of each kind on the field at once, and their effects correlate with what their character deals with in the show (Twilight: Magic and Traps, Rarity: Equips, Fluttershy: Bunny Tokens, Rainbow Dash: Double, Direct Attacks, Pinkie Pie: Shuffle, Recycle Cards, Applejack: Summon, Boost ATK/DEF, Gain ATK/DEF) And their "familiars" aid in their roles, like they do in the show (Spike: Get Magic/Traps, Opal: Equip, Lower Opp. ATK/DEF, Angel: Get Pony Cards, Gilda: Get Trap Cards, Gummy: Return Cards, Shuffle, Applebloom/Big Macintosh: Summon)
Not PERFECTLY based off the show, but done to the best of my ability. It's extensive, and the goal is usually to get out either Celestia and Nightmare Moon, "The Elements of Harmony", or "Diabolical Pinkie Pie". Or, if you're lucky, just take em out with the main six... Which happens more often then not :l
Oh, MAN, this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI've been playing a few Yu-Gi-Oh video games recently, about the same time as I became a brony myself. I was thinking of developing my own custom line of MLP YGO cards...and then you came along. XD
I do have to admit, yeah, a few of these cards are quite powerful, but this would be such a fun deck if these cards were real. I would DEFINITELY play them.
Kudos to you, sir. Again, this is awesome. :D
It is indeed rather cool, especially since Yugioh is my other major fandom, but the broken-ness of this deck.. But, that's kind of un-avoidable with fan made decks...
ReplyDeleteStill nice to see that there are some Yugioh bronies and not just all MtG bronies~ (no offense to MtG bronies)
Screw the rules, I have Ponies.
ReplyDeleteI've been working on my own for 2 months now. Its not quite as broken but in the right hands, its as leathal as Blackwings.
ReplyDeleteI was feeling the elements of harmony more of an exodia, except you also need a card called Rainbow Victory, as the colors of the elements are all the colors of the rainbow, to use them. If you miss just one card, you won't be able to use it.
ReplyDeleteI was under the impression that most non-tournament decks are full of overpowered crap so I don't think the power level of the cards is a big issue.
ReplyDelete"Elements of Harmony" would be the most broken card ever, especially when used with "The Magic of Friendship"...
ReplyDeleteIt would be a cool fluke if you played card of sanctity as your last card in the hand and pulled out the mane six from your deck =).
ReplyDeleteAll right, I play the Equip spell Indepth Study, which increases Twilight's attack power to 2100. Now attack directly, with Magical Blast!(Enemy: LP 2000-LP 0). How do you like that.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thinking of instead making cards to represent ponies, give the ponies decks. Just know that I'm working on a sethisto hint about a series about the ponies as duelists. Also some other crossovers hidden, like with Magic School Bus, Wild Kratts, Phantom Tollbooth(Movie) and more.
ReplyDeleteI've already been trying to conceptualize Celestia and Luna as planeswalkers, especially the former. 6 mana cost, three colorless, three white. Comes into play with 5 loyalty counters.
ReplyDeleteAdd two counters: Tap target permanent an opponent controls. It does not untap during their next untap step.
Subtract one counter: Exile target tapped permanent.
Subtract 9 counters: Exile a number of permanents you opponent controls equal to the number of plains you control.
Of course, this is just a roughly thrown together prototype.
I am going to print all these out, put them on cards, and play those!
ReplyDeleteIn my crossover, one of the CMC is the hero, or should I say heroine.
ReplyDeleteBah, just as I was making my own set. Mine are all based around swarming and gaining lifepoints, and never destroying monsters XD Plus, it has "Shipping" to summon Fusions :D
ReplyDeleteHate to sound like a troll, but I wish somepony would do a crossover fic with Season 0. You know, Yu-Gi-Oh! before it was about card games...*sigh* Confound these trading cards! They drive me to say cliche lines using voices from every single other 4kids dub!
ReplyDeleteOh, you mean before Kaiba was even mentioned! He is one of the best villains, so I disagree. Yugi was also meaner then.
ReplyDeleteHm interesting to see someone who goes through the trouble of writing the effects and generating the cards. It a valiant effort but their tends to be some flaws to it. Some minor things that make several cards game breaking and in general the deck does not have much of a common theme strategy (like lightsworn milling the deck, Elemental hero's focus on fusion summoning, Morphtronic different effects by their battle position ect.)
ReplyDeleteBe warn that also he does not take criticism of his cards well as inferred by his journal entry.
TIME to show you what deck idea i've thought up. That's right, clock monsters.
ReplyDeleteI would totally get in on this!
ReplyDeleteThe gallery doesn't exist anymore. The link's dead.
