      If these are made from the 5.1 audio with only the center channel muted, it's very likely they're also lacking most sound effects. Can somepony verify this?

      It still has all of the background music, and I'd say about 50% of the sound effects.

      Also, I wouldn't call it vocal "free" more like vocal "very muffled". Once I turned my speakers up, the speech was clearly still there, but softer.

      The show has surprisingly much background music. Never noticed most of it with the vocals.

      Is it much easier to get vocals separated rather than background music?

      They're probably for dubbings. Too bad they lack some SFX, as noted, but that can be helped. ;)

      I often wonder how much of MLP:FIM's surprising success has to do with the decision to have a genuine musical score to the episodes as opposed to the usual choice of using recycled stock clips. Probably more than most people realize.

      Well, it has done wonders for cartoons in the past. For years the only cartoon to use a full orchestra was a little show called The Simpsons. Then came Family Guy, the only show with a strong enough fan following to ever come back from cancellation. TWICE.

      So yeah, even though I don't think that MLP:FiM uses a real 52-piece orchestra like they do, I think you're definitely right that good music helps shows (especially cartoons) succeed quite a bit!
