      these thoughts aside, the story leaves me wanting for more
      I read the first chapter and went "eeehhhh" but then I read the next chapter and enjoyed it much more. also, the last image of twilight comforting spike is absolutely adorable in my mind.
      I expect nothing but greatness from this story. (hard to live up to, i know. lol)

      Either this is going to be a very short war, or the author is going to introduce some deus ex machina plot device that gives the griffons a fighting chance. After all, if the princesses really can keep the sun/moon from reaching the griffons, I can only see something similar to the angry sun in mario/the moon in LoZ Majora's Mask.

      If they can't really control the sun/moon like that (then, what CAN they do, since the author already confirmed that Celestia can at least raise the Sun, unless it is merely a figure of speech taken from lesser ponies that she uses...), the the ponies, apparently, still have basic magic over the griffons. Or, at the very least, weather magic (the extents of which have been illustrated by the show).

      tl;dr Pinkie senses deus ex machina bullsh*t or a very short war (in favor of the ponies)
