LOVED IT
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely story!
ReplyDeleteto answer the author question at the end
ReplyDeleteluna=best pony
that simple
Short, simple, and very nice.
ReplyDeleteAlways a fan of Luna fics so you rock!
Heh. Figures that the Ursas were Luna's pets.
ReplyDeleteCommas how do they work?
ReplyDeleteThey work to smite me, that's how. They've always been a weak point of mine but I hope it didn't ruin the overal flow.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice words, I've got plans for a story about the mane six next.
You know it pisses me off how many people depict Luna as feeling guilty over her actions, sad and remorseful. She has no reason to feel this way, yes bringing eternal night is a very very bad thing but not worthy of being banished for 1000 years to the cold surface of the moon. Heck at best it is a small "evil" Simpsons plan. Celestia is simply a very bad sister, any good sibling heck anyone or anypony with half a brain could of seen that Luna was unhappy and instead of waiting for her to get all angry and blow up in a fit of rage and fury they would of talked to her and maybe help her, get a therapist or anything. Instead Celestia sent her to the moon, and not for like 20 days of a year no lets overdo this and banish her for an entire fucking 1000 years. Then when she those come back what thus Celestia do? Nothing really heck instead of saying she is sorry for overdoing it, it is Luna who apologizes!! Best part is how she basically forgot about her the day after. Now many of you will say Luna doesn't appear in season one because she is ashame of her actions and scared of how the other ponies would treat her. Well I am sorry to say I think that is BS! Luna is a princess If I was her I would not care at all. Some pony gives me the evil eye, banish him to the moon! Since Celestia clearly thinks that is a fitting punishment for minor offences I dont think she would dissaprove.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, but you assume Celestia had full control over the elements of harmony.
ReplyDeleteHence why I said Nightmare Moon was a literal Nightmare for Luna. So while NM was imprisoned Luna was asleep in a form of stasis.
Then again, there's like 3 minutes of Luna backstory and dialogue to go on, so any theory holds the same amount of weight until the second season.
Whoa... while I understand the need to voice an opinion, it seems to me that a story review is not the place for such a comment as the one above. Save it for a forum or something, but don't take it out on a single author who, along with so many others, just wanted to write a touching story. These beings are immortal anyway, 1000 years is nothing to them.
ReplyDeleteI for one, liked it. I'm always a sucker for family togetherness. I do like how you depict Luna as more upbeat and positive than emo, as many authors like to do.
One can recognize when one has committed wrongs, but that doesn't mean that we have to let it keep us down. A mistake of the past can be changed for the future, if we're given the chance and genuinely desire to do so.
@Anon Wow, um...
ReplyDeleteTechnically, the first time, Luna (as Nightmare Moon) pretty much wanted to usurp her sister's power. Perhaps she even staged a mutiny or a coup -- we don't know all the details! The punishment for such treachery is often execution or banishment.
Perhaps her banishment was a political decision rather than a personal one. Or perhaps it was the end result of a grand battle, and she had no choice. Perhaps there was a miscalculation in the banishment timeframe.
Try not to jump to so many conclusions at once. Fanfiction is often born of the reimagining of possibilities.
I agree with HeatWave, this might not be the most appropriate place to voice your concerns. Luna appeared very briefly and we dot know what is what or who is right until Season 2 comes out.
ReplyDeleteMoving on, I found this to be a great story and very beautiful! It is stories such as these that made me into a huge fan of Luna :3
Roboshi I am envious of your amazing talent. I am just staring out writing any tips?
I'll better download this one before it becomes too much traffic! LOL
ReplyDelete;)
@Thattagen Co sign. Luna wanted all the glory she didn't want her sister getting the glory so she tried to over throw her sister to no avail. In the pilot it even mentions how Celestia tried reasoning with her but Luna(nightmare moon) refused to listen. So banishment was the only option. But I doubt shortening the length of the banishment would have an effect on Luna. Hell,she still tried plunging the world into eternal night.
ReplyDeleteTL;DR Luna overstepped her bounds even after Celestia tried reasoning with her but take it to da forums mang
You guys are right I might have overacted. I apologize. This not the time or place to say that.
ReplyDelete^ Yes she did and was sorry for it and forgiven
ReplyDeletealso Word of God said something made her evil
That was sweet awwww inducing story.
ReplyDeleteIt also never occured to me till now that the Ursas could be the actual constellation roaming the land due to a mess up on Celestia's first days running the night. Cool idea.
I haven't read this yet, but my eyebrow furrowed when I saw the author. Only been doing scripts? Yeah, you're that Roboshi. I'll check this story out... tomorrow. When I wake up. Probably.
ReplyDeleteThis is really good. I'm still wanting to know more about those details with Luna in season 2 like everyone else and I hope some of the fandom turns out true.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit chilling to consider that Nightmare Moon posed such a grave threat, Celestia was forced to banish her PERMANENTLY in the Moon. She would have remained there had not the Stars aided in her escape (How does that work? There's another interesting story right there!)
ReplyDeleteLuna is clearly reluctant to speak of her experience of being consumed by wickedness, so it's surprising that her answer to Celestia's question seems to come rolling out like a speech without hesitation. I expected such uncomfortable revelations to be coaxed out of her in bits and pieces, gradually filling in the picture.
Daaaw, I wuv sweet pony story's like this...
ReplyDeleteA very fun and well written story. I applaud you for writing it. Thanks.
ReplyDelete@HiddenBrony you know me? I didn't think I was that well known. I used to write quite a bit, but currently doing a webcomic. These ponies just seem to get me writing again.
ReplyDelete@Timey Wimey By this point Luna had been thinking over those times to herself so she kinda knew what she would say. But you're right it's a weak point in the plot. I'll try to avoid moments like this in the next one I do.
Also you guy's mentioned a forum. Does ED have a forum? I didn't see a link anywhere to one.
@Timey Wimey I like to think Celestia was tring to get ripped of whatever made Luna evil and it was able to take Luna with it.
ReplyDeleteI have sooo much trouble choosing who is my fav of all time. AT first i fell on the flutterwagon . . . then i got a Pinkie PIE to the face. I adore little ol' Apple Bloom aswell as her big sis Apple Jack. DASHIE . . NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. I couldnt watch this show if she wasnt around. She is just too cool! I still have trouble with Twilight, despite her design, if you really look into it. . . she is the most emotionally well rounded and visually ANIMATED of them all. But her push peeps away fer knowledge shpiel . . . While im never gonna say i dont like here ( as i despise that wretched griffon ). Twilight isnt on top of my list, and i say that much sadness as i truely wish to like her equally as the rest. Rarity, i did NOT like her at first . . . but i was quick to judge as she quickly become my favorite. Her simple design and wonderous voice, aswell as her quick wit and sophistocated look just sealed it for me. LOL Now Luna . . . Princess Luna of Equestria *bows to her presence* She is a fav of mine aswell . . . slightly under Rarity, i think its because we dont know about her. She seemes like a caring alicorn, mislead by what ultimately ended up being grief. She became an Evil entity, now normal again, we were left with little to now knowledge of her. Thats why i love these stories about her soo much, i cannot wait to read this tomorrow at work. I was majorly undecided on wether or not i like Princess Cely . . . we i can now say i do after seeing "the best night ever" She is a schemer at heart. LOL Trying to make the best of her time while doing her duties.
ReplyDelete@Roboshi
ReplyDeleteI do know of you, from the Middle Ground. I don't actually go there so much as it's an occupational hazard in knowing one of my friends. Won't say much more'n that, though, as my name rather suits my disposition towards others knowing I write fanfics.
As far as your work goes, the only main issues I see is formatting and repeated word choice. Nothing too major, and it knows where it wants to go and gets there at it's own pace. I can respect that.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWOW! Is this just the nicest fandom EVAR, or what?
I seriously don't think I have EVER
seen a poster on the Intertubes
reconsider their statement.
I am genuinely pleased.
It's the power of ponies, this fandom seems to be the most well mannered on the internet. At least to my knowlage.
ReplyDeleteThe characterization of Luna and Celestia didn't seem to match the dramatic mood. The dialog also didn't read naturally.
