The Great and Powerful Trixie!
ReplyDeleteNot bad, but the duel could be improved. Just a bit to much of that "is that all you got". It gets repetitive. Still, looks like it may be a decent enough story.
ReplyDeleteTrixie!
ReplyDeleteThe duel was a bit long winded, but it's still a fun enough story. I might be blinded by Trixie goggles though.
Well, the Biased and Judging Tast didn't think he would like this at first, but now...
ReplyDeleteTrixie! -Squee-
I have to ask... why does this fanbase gets so many wingboners for Trixie and Gilda?
ReplyDeleteI mean, they are antagonists, and Diamond Tiara, the Diamond Dogs, the dragons, etc, are antagnists too and don't get that much love.
Its still fun to read, but you are walking on thin ice here :P Try not to make Trixie to much of a Mary Sue if you can help it :) I mean, sure she boasts. That's fine. That's her after all. I just worry that whenever things start to get real (which they already kind of did with the duel, and she didn't get away unscathed there, so that's good) you might make things a bit to easy for her.
ReplyDeleteBut again, the duel shows that I might be worrying for nothing.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteProbably because she is what TV tropes likes to call a "large ham". And she is kind of hot…
I really like this story—I'm a sucker for stories of redemption, not to mention westerns. I hope he writes more soon.
I think this a good read, but perhaps Baree's got the good point, I think the characterisation is a little off in a way - Braeburn seems a little... flat and emotionless really. I'm finding it difficult to sympathise with the characters despite the interesting plot and unique idea.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep an eye on this as it develops, but I think some work could be done to make it a little more relatable in a way.
Ooh, I like where this is going. A bit of interaction between the good and bad guys is usually a good thing. Curious where you are taking it.
ReplyDeleteAnd looks like Trixie will be out of commission for a while, magic wise. If not permanently. Certainly hope not. This was definitely the best chapter yet.
Good to see another chapter. And a very good one at that. From a pure technical standpoint, I think this might be the best one yet (I'd have to re-read them all to be sure, its been a while). Some exposition, and as a result also a bit more insight in your version of Trixie. I hope you will see this through to the end ^^
ReplyDeleteOnly ten comments... ELEVENTH
ReplyDelete@BareeI promise you, this story WILL be finished. The delays in the last couple of chapters have been due to health issues on my part, and not due to any lack of desire to work on this tale. I'm already 1/3 of the way through getting the next chapter written out, so knock on wood (pardon me while I rap my knuckles against my forehead) I'll get the next part done in a time frame that's closer to a week than a month. =)
ReplyDeleteTHIRTEENTH!
ReplyDeleteCUTIE MARKS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY. GOOD NIGHT.
ReplyDeleteI thought Over A Barrel was one of the worse episodes, but this story is awesome. Can't wait to read the next chapter
ReplyDelete@Laurence Brown
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it, although I wasn't concerned with the long delay between updates to be honest ^^ Season 2 is probably quite some time away still, so anything that helps bridge the gap is welcome :)
Still as interesting as I remembered it to be. :)
ReplyDeleteCh.7 :
>While his coat was lighter than what the unicorns who worked for the Princess had
-Lighter ? How can he be lighter than white ? (Celestia's guards are white, while Luna's are grey/dark-grey)
@Nova25
ReplyDeleteBased off of the unicorn guards as seen in the episode 'The Cutie Mark Chronicles'. They are unicorns with a darker grey coat color. They can be seen in the Twilight Sparkle flashback part, blowing on horns prior to Celestia raising the sun during the Summer Sun Celebration (and since this is happening in the past, that would rule them out as being any sort of guard for Luna too).
The pegasus guards, yes, they are white, but all of the unicorn royal guards that have been seen have charcoal-ish coloring for their coats.
"But this time I brought pies!"

Oh dear. I do hope you aren't going to make Trixie sacrifice her horn to save the day.
ReplyDeleteEah. Seconded. Please don't leave Trixie in the grinder for too much longer; I think she's more than paid her dues.
ReplyDeleteThings aren't going too well for Ghost Trixie in The Empty Room right now and I'd hate to see another likeable version of her maimed, crippled or worse.

ReplyDelete*ahem* Longcolt is long.

ReplyDeleteOH GOD NOW I SEE IT TOO!
NOOOOOOO! Cannot Unsee.
Nice story. I did not read it all in one go but it was nice and somehow Trixie making her way to Appleoosa makes sense.
Though if you ask me id say she grew as a character and the story ultimately ended in a faster pace than i would have liked but that does not detract from the story being Nice.
Geeze. I really need to pay attention to authors more. I had no idea you also wrote Moonbeam. I find this surprising though. As much as I enjoyed this story (and the ending wraps things up nicely, even if I wouldn't have minded seeing a bit more interaction between Trixie and the mane 6 at the end there) Moonbeam was in an entirely different league as far as I'm concerned. Therefore, I greatly welcome your news. Definitely looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, as to this, couple of typo´s. Other then that and the interaction thing I mentioned (which is personal preference more then anything else) its as good a way to end things as any.
Awesome. Glad to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I, too, would have liked to see more interaction between Trixie and the Mane 6.
