Seth's images have nothing to do with the story half the time anyway! I wouldn't worry about it.
ReplyDeleteAnother Strangelove reference.
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
~Scratch
I almost want to read it just because of the title.
ReplyDeleteA reference to one of my favorite movies of all time = Win.
ReplyDeleteWell one of Bon Bon might be a good idea for the pic.....
ReplyDelete@crazyredemu
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think she is in this fic.
Uh, you know that image is usually used to reference a certain fic, that I will not mention...
ReplyDeleteThe picture is fine, but in the future, try to stay as relevant as possible.
ReplyDeleteThen again, Phoe, you are new, so I will let you slide on this one. But, in the future, I will watch you like a griffon.
@Narwhals' Bend
ReplyDeleteYou're on the ball. She may make a cameo, but the story will not feature her.
Embarrassingly, I hadn't known Bon Bon existed when I came up with the title and was well into writing when I learned (I'm still a little new). I went from "Cool movie reference" to "OMG they'll think this is some sort of OC ship" in 2.7 seconds.
Why can't you watch her like a Jonathan?
ReplyDeleteI'm allready loving the potential this has. The formatting threw me off a bit, but that aside, the characterization and interaction had me in an instant. Looking forward to the next part!
ReplyDeleteSweet shop in Ponyville? I really hope that means Sugarcube Corner and by association, Pinkie Pie X3
ReplyDeleteThis proves to be interesting.
ReplyDeleteNewsponyship, ho!
Oh, poor Presspass is about to meet Pinkie Pie. Celestia protect him.
ReplyDeleteOh, so this ISN'T an epic Bon Bon solo fan fic? I'm slightly disappointed :(
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm eagerly awaiting part 2! :D
ReplyDeleteMein princess I have a plan
ReplyDeleteI'll check this out cuz of the title though you better not try anything preverted
This sounds as if it could be promising, judging by the retelling of his past experiences in Ponyville Celestia knows what's in store for our hero this go around.
ReplyDeletePhoe, I think you should rethink the pic. It's a reference to, well, something most of us would prefer to have never existed.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI really need to ask Seth to get me unbanished from the moon so that I can stop being so cut off from the context everypony else sees these pictures in. I'll dig around for something else, but if there are any suggestions for that (now's your time to speak up, Press!) it would be really helpful.
@Phoe
ReplyDeleteCSI Madmax has an OC reporter pony I've seen it in her deviantart gallery. You could shoot her a request to use it.
Phoe, what is with this picture it is the worst picture why would you even choose this picture are you artistically blind can things be any worse with you in charge?
ReplyDelete(just joking we all love you Phoeeeee)
Great story, by and by. This is how to write OC ponies, I do declare! 5/5, heartily awaiting next chapter!
I'm intrigued. Not a lot to go on, but the idea that this pony has suffered behind the scenes from events of episodes in the series is enough to get my attention.
ReplyDeleteHow can one not read a fanfic that got a reference to Doctor Merkwürdigeliebe?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how this will go.
Ooh, a fun start!
ReplyDelete@Phoe
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen that reporter pic an Anon is talking about, and that would be really cool to use, if possible. The only other thing I can think of is a screencap of the newsstand in "Green is Not Your Color."
Either way, don't think I'm upset by what's there now. It's not that big a deal, and it might even be drawing some people in through pure, horrified intrigue alone. >:3
@Phoe
ReplyDeletelol you used my pic :D , don't worry most people don't understand it.
Bonus points for having the editor be appropriately terrifying. Nice newsroom dynamic, I half expect to see Press Pass ripping his shirt open to reveal a big red S or something.
ReplyDeletelol, people already mentioned this, I just stumbled across it:
ReplyDeletehttp://thuydez.deviantart.com/art/Smooth-pre-shade-coloration-209873063
...That... doesn't seem like the best image for this fic... or anything other than one VERY SPECIFIC fanficiton...
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you know what that's for, right?
Kolchak the Nightstalker was an awesome old tv show. I used to watch it on the Sci-Fi Channel. He had an cool straw hat.
ReplyDeleteI like the way this is going and I hope to see more in the distant future.
Koltchak+Doctor Hooves crossover plz.
@Echoed Wails
ReplyDeleteYou're the first one to mention the Kolchak reference. You're officially my new favorite pony on the internet!
"Ella Trix"
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there.
Wait, Etta, not Ella. Never mind. *Facehoof*
ReplyDeleteThat pic is cupcakes related......
ReplyDeleteOH GOD MY BRONY INNOCENCE HAS BEEN SKULLFUCKED!
Nice Kolchak refrence, looks like Ponyville is the New York to Presspass' Homer Simpson.
ReplyDeleteAlso liked Gummy the chef and Scootaloo ultimate Dash fangirl.
Sometimes I think Anya from Buffy TVS was right to fear the bunny.
I was in love with this story as soon as I read "Hays and Greens Committee". Then again, I read too much Politico...
ReplyDeleteThis chapter was really well done, especially the sly 4th wall joke and Press's bunny paranoia breakdown at the end. If there's any way to improve the story, I'd saw have a bit more about what's going on in the background - what are Mrs. Cake and the CMC doing while Press is talking to Pinkie Pie? It seems like there could be some more comic potential there, although it might risk becoming distracting. Even without that, though, five stars for the first two chapters!
Reading it now, Press! Please tell me that was a Wicker Man reference in the middle.
ReplyDeleteNOT THE PARASPRITES THEY'RE IN MY EYES
"I think I am going to drop him down to 12th..."
ReplyDeleteThat's perfect comedic timing right there :P
@doctor dapples
ReplyDeleteYou called it, Doc! Although now that I think about it, getting parasprites dumped on your head probably wouldn't be too horrible, unless they nuzzled you to death or something
And thanks for reading!
I love this story. There's no other way to say it. The timing on every joke and in-joke is absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeletePlus, it basically confirms the "everypony in this town is crazy" theory. The town itself makes them that way.
Lapinaphobia, the fear of rabbits. OK, I'd drop him down to a 12 too.
ReplyDeleteThis certainly made my morning haha, that tinny referance to Madame LaFlour and also Bon Bon single-hoofling wiping out poor Presspass's story were also good additions to the story.
ReplyDeleteBon Bon on Bon Bon action! Woo!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteShh! You want Google to shut me down? >_>
Haha, I'm glad that I'm not the only one to catch that Wicker Man reference X3
ReplyDeleteNO! NOT THE PARASPRITES! NOT THE PARASPRITES! AAAAAAAH THEYRE IN MY EYES!
Complete? Noooooooo!
ReplyDelete@TenchiFreak5
ReplyDeletePRESSPASS WILL RETURN IN "OCTOPONY"
OK, it probably won't be called that, but I do have another story planned!
You see folks once again this is How you write OC characters. They aren't forced upon the Original Cast and not made to be some self insert Mary Sue good story. I look foward to the escapades of PressPass in Ponyville
ReplyDelete@Presspass
ReplyDeleteThank goodness.
Anyways:
“Dear Princess Celestia... Now write down all that stuff I just said 2 minutes ago. I’m going back to reading.”
I read that and I had to take a 2 minute sabbatical, I was laughing so hard.
"Sweet freakin’ Celestia; call off your slapdragon!" may be one of the greatest MLP-related lines ever committed to digital paper. Yet another excellent chapter!
ReplyDelete>clicks chapter 3
ReplyDelete>google docs error
nuuuuuuuuuuuu
I'm kinda iffy about supporting oc's, but Presspass is pretty ok in my book.
ReplyDeleteSo, it's not just Twilight who goes a little crazy in Ponyville, but all Canterlotian's. Canterloter's?
This was great! I wish there would be more.
ReplyDelete@Presspass Yay, a series!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for what happens when Season 2 rolls around and Press has to sit through more Ponyville craziness.
Omg this was too hilarious! The OCs were written perfectly, but not too perfectly, y'know. The plot was excellently designed! A must-read. Also, points for the title. :D
ReplyDeleteThis story was great! Also, "full oatmeal" is now a part of my vocabulary. Ha! Thanks! :D
ReplyDeletethis story was great i'm really hoping to see a sequel in the future soon
ReplyDeleteI could say something about how this was just a fun little story that I rather enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteBut I can not ignore the one thing that is actually important. Promunishment... I feel I dare not rest till that becomes an officially accepted word that I can look up in the dictionary. It must be done.
This story was awesome. While I loved the slapdragon and the promunishment and the dry spit take and all the rest, I think my favorite moment was Presspass's newsboner.
ReplyDeleteHilarious! Not many fics actually get me giggling. The interactions with Twilight and with Etta are what really got me. I can't wait to hear more of stories about Presspass.
ReplyDelete@Escher
ReplyDeleteI want to say that any correlation between Presspass's notebook malfunction and what is known as a "wingboner" was purely coincidental, but I know somewhere deep inside me, it was completely intentional. :/
@Presspass
ReplyDelete>I do have another story planned!
Awesome! One of my comments was going to be "please oh please make this into a series," but I guess you're ahead of me on that.
So yes, this was amazing, especially the third chapter; the byplay between Twilight and Spike is just solid gold. I really like the extremely dry fan characterization of Twilight, and it works particularly well in comedy stories.
The plot pacing and comedic timing in this story was GREAT. If you're not trying your hand at getting published in other works, we're all suffering for it.
ReplyDeleteAt the least, hopefully we'll hear more about the consqeuences of Presspass's promunishment.
@KoshLovesYou
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice of you to say! I do get some writing published in other places, but it's not fanfiction. XD
Life has been disruptive as of late, but I still have a new story in the works.
I was feeling soo down today. (bad family problem) I read this story, it has been on my phone for ages. I am soo glad I did. It really brought my spirits up and made me smile for the first time today. Honestly I never read the synop... but I downloaded it anyway for the comedy tag. BOY AM I GLAD I DID! It as fun, and surprising. I sorta like Presspass, he was a great role.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see this one is back.
ReplyDeleteHeh, forgot about this story. Nice to see a sequel, and so far what looks to be an amusing one.
ReplyDelete@TenchiFreak5
ReplyDeleteI remembered your name instantly from comments on the first story. Thank you so much reading again (and sorry it took so long).
