It's actually part of the "Challenges of Love" arc , but I didn't realize it until I was done with this post! It's long enough to stand on it's own anyway!

ReplyDeleteOnly shooting staaaaars break the moooooooold~
I'm not really going to rate this because I'm having trouble keeping myself interested and I probably shouldn't rate without reading a lot of it.
ReplyDeleteThe journey that lasted a day that should have had TS worried that PP knew where she was going, that she would barely be physically fit enough to make it in time, and that the destination would weigh on her for having such an important reason.
The library should have been eloquently described, for being such a faraway and isolated place, on a mountain, where there is a waiting list that requires a specific spell to be cast and prepared to enter. I got nothing. I have no idea what to think.
Exposition, my good man, exposition is your FRIEND. Describing settings and playing emotions are GOOD things. I am seeing overbearing dialog and terrible transitions that keep me from being interested and leave me confused and no way to imagine what is going on.
Well this is unexpected. I've got to figure out where I went wrong.
ReplyDeleteWell, it was interesting enough to keep me reading. Some of Twi's decisions are questionable, and as I said on DA the reader is left with a lot of questions. I assume they will be answered at a later time though.

ReplyDeleteTwilight's actions were supposed to be questionable. I gave her an obsession, and she pursued it to an unhealthy end, which almost cost her her friendships and her life. I wanted to leave a little bit of the mystery left over at the end because this is only a prelude. Hopefully these will be answered in Twilight's Cycle, which is a mini epic that serves as the final part of Challenges of Love. But honestly, I'm not sure if I'll upload some more of Challenges of Love to Equestria Daily, after this bit's lukewarm response.
Who cares about the response, as long as even 1 person enjoys it it was worth the upload! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI just read this straight through. You have a lot of talent. I look forward to seeing more from you :)
ReplyDeleteI really did enjoy it, but I'd like to see you expand more upon things like the library and the unicorn classification system. Stuff like that adds depth to your world.

ReplyDeleteYou'll see that stuff later. This is only a prelude. I felt I was actually pretty descriptive with my paragraphs, even more so than Rarity's Tale. I'm not sure why this is provoking a neutral response. I tend not to like verbosity.
