Oh lawdy, i cracked up at the opening theme.
ReplyDeleteWait.. Dinky = Derpy? Or is it referring to her daughter?
ReplyDeleteYour life will never be the same,
ReplyDeletebut you'll be happy to take the blame!
It’s Life With Derpy! :D
Someone... Anyone... Make this an animated show on YouTube...
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteDitzy = Derpy, and Dinky is her daughter.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThe description is confusing the hell outta me.
Someone should make this a cartoon, I would throw all of my money at it
ReplyDeletelol that theme song. XD
I really like the idea of making a series of fics or comics about ditzy(derpy) living with carrot, like those taht already exist, like the one they´re watching tv, or were they´re playing video games with i don´t know which pony.
ReplyDeleteIMO it would be better if it toke place before Derpy has dinky, it´s lighter this way...
This idea has such a delightful charm that I am forced to give it 5 stars and hope that more follows suit.
ReplyDeleteOh gawd, that theme song! :D
ReplyDeleteInteresting concept. It's very light-hearted, and very family oriented. Not exactly my cup of tea, but the whole thing is rather sweet. It could have used something about Carrot Top remembering her lonesome days before Derpy and Dinky, though.
ReplyDeleteRequesting: an episode wherein Dr. Whooves number 10 and 11 request the help of Carrot Top and Ditzy Doo respectively, and Carrot Top gets ropes into a ploy that involves a boa and very precise measurements and coordinates that could end up destroying the universe if they screw up. Bonus points for having Derpy marry Doctor 10 1/2.
I like where this is going! :D
ReplyDeletemovin out (derpy's song)
ReplyDelete@ruff1298 you're either a madman, or a genius. Probably the former.
ReplyDeleteI love this story, though. Give it five stars.
Not bad, and Epic theme song.
ReplyDeleteHey, music bronies! Somepony make that song a reality!
ReplyDeleteWe need a real theme song. Somepony make it!
ReplyDeleteI want this show... And more episodes. 5-stars!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anon 6:07
ReplyDeleteSomeone HAS to make this a youtube series. It's like, the law or something.
I loved this! I love the detail where everyone throws as many catchphrases as they can into it, and it just reads like it was meant for canned laughter. (While also being funny enough for real laughter). <3!
ReplyDeleteYou put pinkie in it but not me grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bye *blasts off before you can say bye*
ReplyDeletePart 2 also filled me with joy. :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't get part two,
ReplyDeleteSPOILERS!
So, she chased her away, but wouldn't that make Dinky more scared knowing that ghosts are real and can get in the house?
While I surely adore the way it's written - and I know that writing a clean and uncluttered screenplay requires special approach and attention - it's still somewhat disappointing that the Doo family is portrayed from a kind of one-sided point of view, that of them not just being clumsy, but outright not very bright.
ReplyDeleteWhile I fully understand that this is a work of pure comedy, still the best pieces of this genre work with subtleties and gentle subversions of character ("fool is not so fool" f.ex., which could have been easily applied to the screenplay at hand).
Still, nice word-work, I can clearly give it that, and you seem to subvert at least Ditzy's perspective on the events with the "thank you" note bit. But it still seems a little cluttered with the anvil-on-head humor while interpersonal relationship twists are not given enough screen time. I really hope you keep on developing Ditzy and Dinky's chararcters into more complex - and thus convincing - ones.
Happiness Is a simple way to describe this.
ReplyDeleteWith Quill on this one; always figured Derpy as smart, but horrendously unfocused, able to bring a keen intellect to bear every so often when her thought process isn't snagged on the minutiae of life ("did I leave the stove on?", "That squirrel is following me!") that said, I adore the concept of the work, and pairing Carrot and Derpy as hetero life partners just seems to work better than it has any right to.
ReplyDeleteThe theme song is brilliant and the story's entertaining, but I've got a question: Why use Derpy in the title, but switch to Ditzy in the script?
ReplyDelete^ More there is some dispute about whether Dizy Doo =Derpy or Dizy Doo=some other pony. I like Derpy=Dizy.
ReplyDeleteDerpy is definitely Ditzy. I don't think Ponyville, or indeed, Equestria could handle two Derpy-like ponies.
ReplyDeleteI have a bit of a nit-pick... on the third episode, you have Rarity saying "But that don't mean you can't look fabulous!"
ReplyDeleteRarity of all ponies would make sure to use proper grammar.
But that aside, very funny! I can totally see this being done... and someone needs to actually record the theme song!
My God, I would so totally watch this show... complete with the laugh tracks and everything! ^^
ReplyDeleteThe author here, Derpy = Ditzy, I just like the "old" name for the title, but the 'friendlier' name for the dialog. Call it a stylistic choice.
ReplyDelete(fixed that grammar, Rarity is the best pony and she deserves no less)
To answer some of the questions above, I see Dinky as being at least one year younger then the CMC, so she's not at the age where she realizes the her mom is at all 'different,' either way though she loves her mom and Ditzy would do anything to help her, even if it seems a bit foolish.
Secondly I've been keeping Dinky out of the action mainly so I could develop the dynamic between Carrot and Ditzy. I see them inhabiting the classic grounded-person-seeking-excitement and flighty-one-needing-grounding (literally in this case with an Earth and Pegasus Pony). This and a bit of Manzai as well.
Oh, my Celestia...-Cuteness overload-
ReplyDeleteThis is a very well done story. Very easy to imagine the whole thing and how it would look. Also every time I think of what a show name with this group would be called my mind goes strait to Two and a half mares.
ReplyDeleteSo how long until we get to the "Very Special Episode"?
ReplyDeleteEp.3 :
ReplyDelete>Ditzabeth Eleanor Doo!
-Errrrr...? No. Derpy Hooves/Ditzy Doo/Bright Eyes are enough names already, me think.
(Also, ''Ditzabeth'' just seems like a forced combination)
>DITZY >Muffin awareness is essential.
-Indeed, it is. :D -Ask about 'Muffin Awareness' in your nearest local 'Muffin Center'.
>disguised by a very large hat «...» and an oversized pair of sunglasses. The effect is adorable.
-With Dinky, it can also be so ! :D
>CARROT quickly and painfully darkens the carrots on her cutie mark until they don’t resemble carrots,
-...how ? Did she used the pen ? It sounds a bit odd, said like that.
Sir Rad Ross! If you're reading this, I am about to embark on an adventure of Comicing, with your first episode as the subject! I hope to have your blessing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome and amazing stuff!
ReplyDeleteWhere do I write to get tickets to be in the studio audience for the next taping?
I love these kind of slice of life stories, and you pull off the comedy of the situations wonderfully. I hope that more episodes are coming down th eline sometime.
That was amazing. Except for a few typos (Which are to be expected with hooves), I liked everything. There's a fine line with Derpy, and I think you hit the sweet spot, a bit clueless and goofy, but not completely out of it (I really don't like it when she seems to have totally broken from reality). Nice to see more to her than wall-eyes and muffins (Although they did get the mentions they deserved).
ReplyDeleteAs for "Ditzabeth Eleanor Doo", while we do have enough names for her already, it makes more sense than naming your foal "Derpy". I've always felt that they all had full names like that and Pinkamena Diane Pieathon. That's just my two bits though.
Also, I want tickets to the studio audience, too.
What a fun way to write a story!
ReplyDeleteI'm confused though, why does Ditzy call Carrot Top, K-K? Is that another name for her I don't know about?
I realized this is essentially a script for a small play for a few people to do.
ReplyDeleteStill this is just a hilarious read! I can imagine all this in my head.
This is so awesome and needs to continue!! :D
ReplyDeleteSomeone made comic version http://shadowlord123456.deviantart.com/favourites/48312522#/d46h3mi
