I used to play Dungeons and Dragons... well, technically. It was a Star Wars variant. On the internet.
Anyway, Giftkrieg23, the same pony who wrote a pony set of rules for the game Savage Worlds, has posted a transcript of the first game of his summer-long campaign using these rules! He says his last mention on the blog got him a good injection of fans, so, if you're interested in this kind of stuff, I urge you to check it out.
This will be an ongoing series thing for those interested in the campaign!

You played an internet-based Star Wars D&D variant, did you? Interesting...
VastaKustutaDungeons and Darth Mauls?
VastaKustutaA Dungeon and Dragons Episode would be so awesome for season 2.
VastaKustutaAll Ponys at Twilights library, playing D&D, would be funny to see who chooses what class.
Applejack Paladin, Fluttershy Cleric, Twilight Mage, Pinkie some kind of Prankster, Rarity a Rogue or Noble something, Dash a Berserker.
Or something like that
@Dionysus
VastaKustutaThere's at least one fanfic you might want to read then.
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/02/story-ponies-play-d.html
I'd rather there not be a D&D episode, for I only see it being a parodic cross between two Community episodes: the D&D one, but illustrated like the Christmas special (clearly not in claymation in MLP's case).
VastaKustutaHowever, an episode that's really all about somepony telling a story, and we don't know till the end, wouldn't be all bad.
Am I the only one who can't see the transcript? Also, if there had to be a D&D episode, I'd agree with Luna on that one.

@The Letter J
VastaKustutaDerp moment.
That's funny, because me and a friend we're actually working on an original RPG system for MLP. And also we're writing some scenarios in the spirit of the show, but that's hard.
VastaKustutaD&D all the way man! I would really enjoy watching a D&D episode of it, but the problem is that a single campaign can take WEEKS if its long enough, and shoving it all into a half hour, or even make it into a two parter, you would still lose a lot that makes D&D amazing.
VastaKustutaAlso, I fear that it would be a miss for several fans of the show, seeing how D&D is still a somewhat selective group, also never mind the fact that there are a TON of different versions with different rules, so the biggest challenge would be finding one that would make sense to everyone.
This is really quite impressive and solid, bravo. I may even try and run a game myself.
VastaKustutaPinkie would be a bard, Dionysus.
VastaKustutaBleh :I
VastaKustutaI feel like someone beat me to this, but I'm doing something rather different.
I'm making a DnD style game, except I'm making up my own rules and all the systems are 100% custom.
Woo, look at me all late to the commenting party!
VastaKustutaBut anyway, I really do like that this runs on the Savage Worlds system since it's a quick pick-up-and-play style RPG that encourages storytelling (old Deadlands player here, I'm pretty familiar with it). I think that will attract a lot more folks who would otherwise not want to try a pen and paper RPG for fear of it being slow and dull.
I also really like that this variant puts focus on teamwork and problem solving instead of combat, since that's much more fitting to the theme of the show. The D&D system is pretty much the opposite, it's gotten really clunky over the years and its main goal is still pretty much "kill things, get loot, repeat".
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaIn my experience, some players get too locked into what they think an RPG 'should' be because of the system. I'm in a long-running, primarily story-driven D&D game and it's a blast. Even though we have frequent combat, the focus of our game is not on experience or loot as those things are provided regularly and we don't need to min/max.
My goal with this game was to make combat into something that was mechanically similar, but didn't require violence and served as an opportunity to be really creative. So far it's worked out great!
@Display Name
VastaKustutaDarths and Droids!
@giftkrieg23
VastaKustutaPoint taken, though for the most part if you mention the name Dungeons and Dragons to someone who doesn't play RPGs much, they tend to think of a months-long dungeon crawl, which is rather off-putting to most. But I don't wanna start a lot of bickering about what D&D is or isn't, so I won't press it beyond that.
Instead I'll just say you did a fine job of balancing out the game mechanics, which makes it easy to create a pony that fits a specific theme and background without being too narrow or underpowered, and after reading the latest session I'm certainly looking forward to seeing where the story is going. That whole debacle in the nightclub was brilliantly played out!
Pferdhammer. That sounds strong.
VastaKustutaI would love. LOVE! to hear a play session, ala the D&D podcast.
VastaKustutaI'm a Savage Worlds player, where can I get a character sheet or a summary of the MLP Savage Rules that are being used?
VastaKustutaI strongly disagree. Pinkie would be the Cleric with Fate and Travel domains. It is the only way for her to move around in impossible ways.
VastaKustuta@koogrr
VastaKustutaYou can find the full rules, character sheets, fillable character sheets, and condensed mini-sheets on my DA page: http://giftkrieg23.deviantart.com/
Just check my gallery, it has everything!
@Dionysus
VastaKustutaThis only leaves one horable posibility... Rarity as the GM. Yes I can see it. I really can.
Uh, Cereal? It's spelled "Forth."
VastaKustuta@Shellsh0cker Yeah, the way it's spelled now refers to number four in a sequence. "Four ride Fourth... In the roller coaster order."
VastaKustuta@Shellsh0cker
VastaKustutaI sent them an email, it's just a typo. But yes indeed, the campaign is called "Four Ride Forth".
>I used to play Dungeons and Dragons... well, technically. It was a Star Wars variant. On the internet.
VastaKustutaI don't get it.
I MUST get his rules! Where can I find them?
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaOn his deviantart!

"The Savage World of My Little Pony". Perfect.
VastaKustutaactually make an episode where they are not playing D&D but in a sense just telling a medevil story Featuring our favorite little ponies
VastaKustutapinkie pie as a bard all the way!
I love the modded system! I was recently in a campaign where I convinced the GM to let me play Rainbow Dash and use some of your material. It was fuuuuun. :)
VastaKustutaAlso, I'm trying to get a pony campaign together at my local group, so I'll be using your system for that, too.
Cheers!
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaDo tell! Did you create character from scratch or use her character splat in the back of the book that I provided? I would particularly be interested in how your game went, and in feedback from your GM about what they thought of the module and rules. Drop me a line on my DA profile if you get the chance!
Hello, it's me, the anonymous. Sorry it took so long to reply. :( I haven't been vigilant, nor do I have a DA.
VastaKustutaEssentially, what I did with RD was use the standard Savage Worlds character build and rules, but I used the Pegasus race and then I added few of the Edges from your mod. I converted most of the mechanics back to normal SW (Evade back to Parry and such), and any bonuses I got to Evade I converted to Parry. It worked out pretty well; I certainly enjoyed it, and the two seemed rather compatible.
I liked a lot of the new material, especially the feats of daring and strength, but one thing I didn't like was that they could only be used once per day (or was it scene?). I prefer flexibility in my characters, and the current rules for the feats of daring/strength felt like they restricted that a bit. Might just be me, though.
I haven't gotten to start the pony campaign yet, since school hasn't started, but I will see if anyone is interested in giving the system a try. I'm hopeful, and if it does work out I'll keep you posted. :)
Thanks Brony!
@Brony Tom
VastaKustutaThe text for Feats is:
"A character can only use one Feat of each rank once per game session and only once per turn; each additional use of a Feat at that rank during the game session requires you to spend a benny before using and/or rolling for the Feat."
You can use them multiple times per session, but it requires spending a benny. They are supposed to be heroic feats in the truest sense of the word, and not direct equivalents to Unicorn spells. Each pony breed has its own strength and weaknesses, and the Feats are supposed to be your aces in the hole, or things you can use to add flavor and flexibility to your character, not make them into Unicorns. While Unicorns have a significant starting kit of spells, they must continue to invest experience to continue gaining new and higher-rank spells, while ponies with Feats of Daring/Strength get them automatically (or even more if they take the New Feat edge.
I'm glad to hear that you're interested in starting a campaign, and I look forward to hearing more about it. Expect a major revision sometime before the end of the year, in which I will add even more content and fix a large list of balance issues, typos, and other bugs.
@Giftkrieg23
VastaKustutaSilly me. I suppose that makes sense. And it's good to know that there will be even MORE content. One thing that I thought needed to be added were a few more hindrances; there were some in particular that I thought should/coould just be brought in from the SW book (like Vengeful as a minor hindrance, etc.). That's up to you, though, isn't it?
Anyways, truthfully I'd love to play in one of these cammpaigns even more, since I have a really cool character concept already designed... and the only other brony in my club at school just moved. :( Well, the only brony that I know of.
"The Savage World of My Little Pony!" I can't even read that without laughing out loud.
VastaKustuta@SprintF
VastaKustutaTrue story, that was what happened to me as well. It sounded too good of an idea to pass up, and it's what inspired me to write all this.
Reading about your adventures is cool and all but I would REALLY love to play this!!!
VastaKustutaReading this awesome adventure is making me really really restless, I neeeeeeed to play this.
VastaKustutaFunny story I too am working on my own Pony PG, though it's a actual JRPG, since i'm pretty much doing everything Right now i'm focusing on the script/story but i do have character sheets
VastaKustutahttp://nekollx.deviantart.com/gallery/30790176?offset=48
Ah D&D i remember my first game, it too was online my character was a elf paladin, and the dice HATED me. To put things in perspective in our first fight, with goblins, the Cleric killed more of them then me...in fact i never hit one. So out of Pity the DM has us stumble across a tree with +1 swords grwoing out of it, it's a simple check to grab one, everyone in the party does fine.
I botch, and have to save vs bleeding (sucess) as i loose half my life...needless to say considering our next stop was a tavern that lead to us being kidnaped to advance the story things were bad. But i did really well suprisngly as the DM give me a bonus as long as could spout of a battle cry with every attack. I took out half the bar only loosing 1/4 my hp (which was like 1 hit) before i was finnnally felled.
@Serafin
VastaKustutaThanks for following! Be assured, I have something planned after this campaign finishes that will have lots of community involvement, so stay tuned.
hey if any pony has a scenario not of the people just that so i could do one with the friends.
VastaKustutaAwwwwwww, I thought I was the first to do this.
VastaKustutaDoes this still update?
