I don't like this being here. What does FiM teach us?
The Diamond Dogs, the dragons, cockatrice, manticore...even Luna, nobody wanted them hurt, even if some of them wished harm or servitude on others. All of these 'baddies' have some good in them, they just need to be shown why they're wrong, whether through compassion or force of will.
Makes me wonder what Pinkie Pie would have done...
Weapons are the tools of violence; all decent men detest them.
Weapons are the tools of fear; a decent man will avoid them except in the direst necessity and, if compelled, will use them only with the utmost restraint. Peace is his highest value. If the peace has been shattered, how can he be content? His enemies are not demons, but human beings like himself. He doesn't wish them personal harm. Nor does he rejoice in victory. How could he rejoice in victory and delight in the slaughter of men?
He enters a battle gravely, with sorrow and with great compassion, as if he were attending a funeral.
She would have gotten him within hours, if not minutes of the Towers falling. And she wouldn't kill him, but I bet he would wish he was dead. We all saw how batshit she went when her friends would go to her party, guess how she would react if someone actually killed one of her friends?
The only way I would be more happy is if we had captured him alive, chained him to a post in Times Square and let New Yorkers kick him in the balls every minute of every day for the rest of his life
Heh, this is so big a story you'll find it mentioned everywhere in the internet.
My father worked at the WTC from 1969-79. Our family was able to immigrate from Peru to the US because of his electrical engineering job. His work went mostly to the smaller WTC buildings, but a little to the two towers themselves, and he worked at Tower #1, Floor #58. Since 9/11/01 I've hoped for OBL's capture; at least his death puts an end to the horror he's inflicting on innocent people.
Can't say I want to really "celebrate" the guy's death, just in the spirit of keeping myself above him on a moralistic level, but...I like the suggestion of chaining him up in Times Square. Karma is a delicious thing sometimes.
I think even rainbowdash would say "omygoshomygoshomygosh"!!!! over this. You can disagree with american policy, but Osama was shit who killed innocent men, women, and children. He was evil, plain and simple.
Not celebrating in the destruction of evil doesn't somehow make you better, so save your crocodile tears for this monster.
"Weapons are the tools of violence; all decent men detest them.

What you said man. Everyone else is Ecstatic, all I can think about is how weird it is that Americans, supposedly civilized people, are going wild partying about some has-been's death.
I hated him as much as the next guy. The world will be a better place without him. But this will only breed more violence. 10-1 there's a shit ton of car-bombings tomorrow and Osama's folowers will call it 'justice' just like we call our killings 'justice'...
While I do not wish for the death on anyone, including him, this does help bring an end to the violence this whole thing has caused. I know that everypony don't want people to die but hopefully soon we can have peace.
It does keep you from sinking down to their level, though.
It's under the same logic that I feel that some criminals deserve to die yet I oppose the death penalty. I'm not offended if a mass murderer like Osama ends up dead, but I can think of far worse punishments than death that he would deserve more.
If there is an afterlife, im sure he has found himself in a rather unpleasant situation.
I hope that hell is like the budhist model, you stay till all your sins are purged or paid for. And while i wouldn't wish an eternity in hell on anyone, I do hope that he is among the last to get out of it.
Oh dear, should we really be celebrating the death of somebody? Um, I don't agree with what he did or anything, but this is still a human being. It's a little hypocritical to say its good he was killed because he killed people, isn't it? Oh, but that's just what I think...
Keep my ponies and real-life assassinations separate please.
Not saying I'm not absolutely thrilled; I lived by the Trade Center and had to deal with the smell of rotting flesh for months. But still. Is this really necessary?
It's like you saw a huge can of worms laying on the table and not only did you open it but you poured it all over yourself. Maybe I am paranoid but I have a feeling this is going to cause arguments that don't need to happen
I'm a little disappointed that death is celebrated in my US, and even moreso in the MLP community.
It's great for soldiers morale and the morale of the US. It's great that someone who would attack the US again can no longer do it. My brother is a soldier who had his friends die.
But I would be even happier if he was placed in a prison for life, so he'd have the opportunity to come to feel sorry for all of the harm he caused to literally millions of people. I can never condone killing. It offers nothing in the way of forgiveness, and that's always been crucial for me. Especially now.
Celebrating the death of a Human Being is not a good thing, In my opinion however, when you are responsible for the deaths 2,752* civilians you give up whatever right you had to be called a Human and are nothing more than a monster. It is perfectly fine to celebrate the death of a monster.
Honestly, I won't believe it till pictures of the body are released, but even the fact that the U.S. government is claiming to have the body is going to cause a lot of damage to Al Queda until all their agents know if it's fake or not. Short term power vacuums could do a lot of damage, if it is true, the vacuum could fracture the organisation irrepairably.
To all the people who think we shouldn't be celebrating:
There are very few people in the world who can legitimately be called "Evil." Theirs is a small but terrible group.
But when an evil man dies, the only people who do not find cause to celebrate, are those who can count themselves among his peers.
Stop kidding yourself. If you're a decent person, then some part of you is happy that this scumbag can't hurt people anymore. Quit fighting it just for the sake of feeling superior to others. You know you're happy he's dead.
@Anonymous you really think he would feel sorry in a air conditioned cell with 3 free meals a day payed by American tax money? im not saying that's impossible but if he didn't learn a sense of morality living in some god forsaken cave I highly doubt he would learn it in a better living situation witch is what it would be
im not saying we should dance on his corpse but it is a good thing he is dead so he can no longer hurt others
Joking aside, Sethisto made it very clear that this post is something of sacrificial post to keep the inevitable Osama discussion off the rest of the site.
In regards to the topic at hand, it was more or less only a matter of time before it happened.
As much as I'd love to preach MLP's creed of love and acceptance, it isn't the panacea we'd all like it to be. Blindly loving and accepting everyone and everything will not cure all our ills. This is evident even in the show itself; even though Luna reformed, she had to be forcibly subdued before she did so.
Maybe someday we can spread our love and acceptance to the entire world, but unfortunately that is not a world we live in. Yet.
As another anonymous earlier said, 'Shit happens'. We deal with it as best we can, and sometimes that means ending another being's life.
I am relieved that, as sad a prospect as it may be, the world is better off without Bin Laden, but that's all.
If anything, Bin Laden, all the suffering he caused and the celebration his death sparks, is a symbol of how much work we bronies, each and every one of us, have in front of us.
Here's to a brighter future. A future in which a man like Bin Laden would never have felt the need to end the lives of so many.
yeah, HE was definitely evil. We knew he was evil.
But the Nazi's thought the Jews were evil, and thought they were justified in killing them. Killing is not something that is ever celebration worthy. It is a necessary evil at best.
I will never be happy about someone's death. But I am glad he cannot hurt anyone more.
I guess I would have just preferred him to be captured and thrown in jail for life.
stop trying to pretend your better than everyone els your happy hes dead your just not admitting it because you want to feel superior to everyone
he was a monster he deserved it
and acting like a smug asshole that thinks your somehow higher than everyone els because your not taking joy in his death isn't going to stop others so theres no point in bitching about it unless you want to be an attention whore
"And if God is great and God is good why can't he change the hearts of men? Well, maybe God himself is lost and needs help Maybe God himself he needs all of our help Maybe God himself is lost and needs help He's out upon the road to peace..."
While I am glad that Bin Laden is no longer a threat, I do wish he had been take alive. Alive, he could have been forced to stand trial and we could have dealt with him like decent, civilized beings.
Dead, he becomes a martyr to those who continue to follow his cause.
Could everypony please calm down? We are a community of love and tolerance. No matter what our different beliefs, we should all get along! This is getting terribly out of hand. Sethisto! HELP!!! DX
No, he probably wouldn't. It's not the logical course of action, and it's not the just course of action. He deserves more than his death that only occurred once.
However, I argue that morals don't always come from the logical or just course of action. And death removes any opportunity for remorse or forgiveness altogether. To me, given a zero-sum game, I kill the guilty instead of the innocent all of the time. But I never feel good about it. I think that's what you're saying, and I appreciate that moderated level of approval in his death.
tl;dr I can't disagree with you. But bronies are literally dancing on his symbolic corpse. That disappoints me, even for a man with an entirely different set of morals.
Too bad this does virtually nothing to the Taliban or whichever terrorist organization he ran (they don't tell us in the states). I truly think you're all being hypocritical about this whole thing as we're a community that preaches tolerance and love. As a person I'm glad to see him go, as a brony I weep for you all.
@Anonymous I refer to the operation that actually brought him down. Nothing else. I am of the opinion that smaller actions such as this one, would have been preferable from the very start. But that is just the opinion of me and I certainly am not in possession of all the facts.
Osama was not a human. Ergo, there's no need to feel bad about celebrating that abomination's death.
The only thing that could have made this day any sweeter, is if they took him alive and tossed him naked out of an airplane with a parachute over the dead center of Georgia. Deliverance 2 anybody?
Well, I certainly would've preferred he was captured and tried, but whatever. I assume they finally got a clear shot, so I sure as sugar can't blame them for taking it.
It does seem somewhat wrong to celebrate his death, though. Take grim satisfaction in the fact that justice was done, but don't be ecstatic over the ending of a life.
Being tolerant doesn't in any way mean we have to feel sorry for or even feel neutral about the death of someone who masterminded a deliberate attack on the United States that killed nearly three thousand innocent civilians. Ignoring the vast differences in scale, Adolf Hitler killed innocent people whom he believed deserved to die because of his own intolerance as well. We're not celebrating the "deaths" of these savages; we're celebrating the fact that they can no longer hurt anyone else.
.../it's not Godwin's Law because Osama isn't in this comment thread right now
I believe most of you are missing the point of this post. This event is BIG news, and as such will be discussed all over the place. The purpose of this post is to keep that discussion OUT of the rest of the site and limited to here. NOT I repeat NOT to celebrate anyone's death. Besides this will me a blow to the enemy's morale, nothing more. Their tactics (especially the dangerous ones) are DESIGNED around being decentralized and capable of independent function.
I have to admit I'm glad that he won't be hurting anyone anymore, but I'm not going to crack open a beer and go shouting down the street like my team just won a football game.
There is a decided difference between those who are glad that an evil has been taken out of this world, and those who are just looking for a reason to get wasted and run around outside like a wild animal on crack. I think we would all do good to be able to know the difference.
But still, will this bring our troops home? I am willing to bet it doesn't change a damn thing.
While i condemn your slander against the great state of Georgia, i have to admit that image is made all the funnier considering Osama's strict adherence to sharia and the Islamic stance on Pork.
You know, I wonder if this'll make people appreciate the CIA more? They are the ones that killed OBL after all, and they're the ones that broke their backs trying to find him. I may have no great feeling on this one way or the other, but I will not lie that certainly have a lot more respect for the Central Intelligence Agency now.
This seems to be quite the polarizing topic. My natural human tendencies want me to be happy that this "man" can no longer harm innocent civilians. But, as a fan of this show, I should be more tolerant and forgiving, right?
I don't think so, actually.
This man deserved to die. I, along with many other people, cannot tolerate someone who has killed so many people out of sheer hate. He may be able to be forgiven, but that does not excuse his actions.
He was no longer human. No human can commit these atrocities with their soul intact or even repairable. Even if he had been captured and sent to jail for life, it would have been a waste of taxpayer dollars that could have been used for something much more beneficial. He has killed so many people without remorse. Why would he start after he had been captured?
However, I don't think we should celebrate that fact that a life has been taken. Instead, we should celebrate that there is one less person who wants to disrupt peace and spread hate.
Just my thoughts. It's kind of an odd topic to put on this blog.
Do you know why I celebrate the death of someone? Cause that thing killed Americans, MY FELLOW AMERICANS! I will stand by my people and any other people who love truth and justice, for the greater good of mankind! I served in the USAF proudly and tho I never fought in any battle I would of in hopes that my service and possibly my sacrifice would protect people back home from facing something like 9/11 ever again! DAMN It's good to be American!
Oh no please don't take me saying Georgia as me slandering them. I just used Georgia because thats where Deliverance was set in. (I was going to use Tennessee, thats where I am)
For all that is sweet in this world, there is also bitterness. Though Death should never be celebrated, Americans celebrate his death because he did a wicked thing in that he took the lives of sons, of daughters. Grandparents who never got to say, "I love you." to the grandchildren who were born later, to their children who live their lives.
Yet I also say I must feel great disappointment that it took his death to celebrate. I salute the soldiers who's lives were given freely for a country that is free. I salute the people who stood up against terror for me and said, "I am part of a free people. I will not let you take that freedom away."
All he strove to do is now taken from him. Death is something that should not be taken or given lightly. I do feel closure that now many people can go to the graves of their loved ones, lay down a flower and say, "He's dead. Rest easier now, since he can't hurt us anymore."
Further still, I feel I wish I could have gone into the past and tried to get him to stop his plans before he began. It is of the unfortunate stance that something so immense, so beautiful such as our dear friends who are Bronies couldn't love and tolerate him into realizing he was in the wrong.
Death shall always be a painful subject for this Bronie, and I decided to share my simple and silly feelings. Rest well all Bronies who need sleep. Lets turn on our Ponies and smile again, for we need the adventures of those in Equestria to remember this world is still full of many wonders, we need but find them again.
You'd be right if he actually masterminded the attack. The 9/11 attack was an inside job to destabilize the region because Sadam wouldn't play ball anymore. I remember watching the initial newscasts, they all said people on the ground heard explosions inside the building after the plane crashed. And the plane that 'crashed' into a field? There was no debris recovered from it.
While i agree that wishing death upon anyone is wrong. For the sake of a nation that went mad with grief over the actions of this monster and no logic can be applied to the way people will react to this news. He wasn't just some bad guy he was so much worse than that...
And while this show has taught us that there are better ways of living our lives. Let them have this, let us Americans react to this as we see fit. and leave it off the pony boards
It's clear to me that Obama saw Episode 25 and realized that ~no one~ can hide from Pinkie Pie. She was promptly hired for the assassination and Osama didn't stand a chance.
@Feere Also, the moon landing was fake, Obama is from Kenya, Bigfoot is secretly in charge of the UN, and if you play Art of the Dress backwards it will tell you the magic spell you can use to open a portal to Equestria.
The point of throwing him in jail isn't to teach him "remorse." I would have just preferred he be taken alive because I don't think killing is ever right, just a necessary evil at best.
Americans are supposed to stand for what they believe is right, that's just what I believe. I have enormous respect for our Armed forces, so please don't interpret my statement about killing as an indictment of their actions.
@Anonymous <As an American, i weep for our education system. He was in charge of Al qaeda, the TALIBAN gave him refuge in Afghanistan when they where in charge.
Thans for clearing that up, I don't care enough myself to look up the difference. I stopped caring about the war when I stopped being a conservative. No offense to anyone, but it's just not in our interest to allow politicians to make us go into a costly war abroad when our infrastructure is falling apart at home. I guess fixing bridges and highways doesn't get good press coverage.
@Feere Sethisto made the right choice in creating this thread to keep the discussion focused. Also, i don't think it's hypocritical. As Obama said in his speech, America stood up for their "friends and allies" and their ideals. This is a proof of loyalty.
@Feere Your a moron! Of course the moon landings were faked, but I suport the government on this, we had to beat the communists to it!.......what? why you all looking at me like that?
Right. The intelligence that makes you think that the United States would intentionally enhance and/or fully carry out an attack on their own people just to further their interests overseas.
Forgive me if I have a little bit more faith in my countrymen than that. And forgive me if I also think somewhat less of you because of that opinion.
I never said they wasn't entitled to their opinion. Just that I think less of them for it.
Kind of like how I would facepalm if someone seriously thought Obama was a Muslim, and if they thought that it would be a horrendous tragedy if he was.
These are the same people who killed citizens in experiments during the 60's, released a virus on an airplane to track how fast diseases could spread (wouldn't harm anyone unless they had an alergic reaction, 1-4 people, forget the figure, died because of that), planted a mosquito colony in Georgia to see how fast malaria could spread (mosquitoes weren't infected), and left most of our warships vulnerable in one spot in Hawaii. It's an 'ends justifies the means' thing, no matter who dies, even if it's your own.
When one makes it their goal to spread terror and death upon their fellow humans they no longer have the right to be called human, they become a monster. There is a reason why he was refereed to as the boogieman of America, and I am glad that this monster is dead so he can not spread his evil anymore.
I would like to be the first one to congratulate you on your successful trolling. The Pony avatar that implies you are an actual member of the community is a nice touch. Our ideals of love and tolerance can make us easy targets, but with your example we should be able to get better at finding and dealing with trolls.
Those "experiments" were undertaken during the Cold War, more than fifty years, when the United States was a vastly different place than it is now, the virus was completely harmless and released in the New York subway to test how a virus used in a covert pathological attack might spread, adding disease-free mosquitos to the South is pouring a cup of tap water in a swimming pool, and a vast assortment of ships were collected at Pearl Harbor because that's what one tends to do at a naval base. You keep your navy there.
And even ignoring all that, none of the things you mention come even close to being of the same magnitude as destroying the two largest buildings in the entire nation and killing thousands of American citizens for the sake of a conflict that didn't really even exist at the time.
As much as I am happy about this bit of news, I don't feel like this should be shared on this blog. Again: this new = great Just doesn't belong on ED imo. Please delete it.
I cant believe I'm saying this, but ponies can wait on pause for a moment.
Now for all of you who come in here against good old American pride, and try to bum the rest of us out by forcing your opinion on us with what just seems to be pointless drama, I have only one thing to say. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
Now I bid you all adieu while I down Budweiser and go shoot fireworks with my friends in celecration.
Aw, c'mon, don't stop him. I love forcing rational arguments onto trolls. Gets my brain going. And if this event is going to keep me up until the wee hours of the morning, I might as well have some fun with it.
Idk, I can't help feeling some of the replies here are not particularly well informed.
Ding dong, the witch is dead, but what motivated him to become a witch? Certainly his actions make him well suited to the title of terrorist, but celebrating his death leads me to the conclusion that his death is viewed as the only important factor and that he acted alone, as if he were crazy or senile. Reviewing some of his transcripts, he responded to current events and even explained some of his rationalization for his attacks on the US. I can't seem to decipher the extent of the tragedy that occurred in 1982 in Lebanon, but it played a large part in motivating him to seek revenge against the US. My econ teacher mentioned something recently about an attack by US forces some time ago, I can't remember the exact date or location, but it sounded like the damage was quite extensive and that Osama was able to simply show pictures of the wounded troops to civilians and was able to gain followers quickly in retaliation against the US.
To me that makes me question US foreign policy. If we're providing fuel to terrorist groups through our actions, has Osama's death really changed anything? If anything, it seems this recent turn of events will spur additional fighting in the area, at least in the short term.
While news on current events is appreciated, I think they should continue to be kept to a minimum within this blog, imho. To me ponies are a stretch goal, a pleasure to be enjoyed when all other basic necessities have been well accounted for. Death and current events are a stark reminder that not all share our endowments and there is still much fighting in the world.
No underground explosions were ever confirmed. Flashes of light seen on the buildings were windows shattering as compressed air forced them outwards during collapse, not to mention they were in the reverse pattern of what you would set charges for in a controlled demolition. Steel loses half its strength at well below the lowest temperature fires recorded in the towers, WTC 7 was horribly constructed and had interior gas tanks all over the place, the holes in the pentagon were circular because the plane became a fireball, besides that real life isn't a cartoon and planes do not leave plane-shaped holes in things, the reason no perimeter cameras picked it up mid-crash is because they take pictures every second, not video footage, United Airlines 93 (the field crash) left wreckage EVERYWHERE in at least a mile radius of impact, and if you even admit that you don't know the first god damn thing about the people we've been at war with for the last ten years (yes, they tell you about this in the education system. You just weren't paying attention.) then you shouldn't even be perpetuating conspiracy theories in the first place.
His death was more symbolic at this point. For years after 9/11, Osama bin Laden WAS Al-Queda. He was the one making the videos proclaiming death for all Americans, he was the one people thought of when they saw pictures of the Twin Towers burning, and he was the one whom everybody and their brother was trying to find. I feel almost a sense of catharsis right now, like I can finally move on from connecting his name to everything. That's why I'm happy he's gone.
That's not to say that everything the U.S. has done in the Middle East was justified. We went to war against "terrorism", but essentially we just threw ourselves into another Vietnam, where any civilian could be a soldier and any step you take could be your last. For us, modern warfare is a game of trying to figure out who the enemy is. Osama was one of the few enemies we could actually identify; hence, we celebrate when we kill him. If his death enrages anyone, it will be the people who already hated us so much that they would sacrifice their own lives to kill a few of us. We can't comprehend that, just as we couldn't comprehend Japanese kamikaze pilots or Viet Cong tunnel rats. We can't comprehend a war fought against someone who has no concern for their own survival, so when we play the game as if the rules are the ones we recognize, we only end up hurting ourselves.
...good God, I can't believe I'm actively participating in this discussion. On ED. AT 1:47 in the morning. When I have school tomorrow. And when I think I actually started this whole debate to begin with.
If anyone's forcing anything, it's you. I've only presented my beliefs while you attack me and call me less than human for it, you can believe what you will. I'll also be the first to say that I get some information wrong as I'm not the best when it comes to recalling information.
@Anonymous 10:34
I've posted here before and will continue to do so. I posted in the 4,000,000 comics, and will continue to comment here, even if I have to face against people who hide behind false names, or no names at all.
Because my head is throbbing right now from lack of sleep and I need someone to lock this damn thing so I no longer have the urge to keep posting in it.
I've done nothing but present my views and you've called me less than human for it. I most certainly am as I don't rush into snide assertions while under the influence of emotion.
@Anonymous 10:34
Thanks for accusing me of something without merit. You can go back to the 4,000,000 comics where I've commented, and I'll continue to comment even if I have to face off against people like you who hide behind the anonymity of the internet while I've put up my real name and email on my profile, as such I've put up my name and reputation on the line for your trolling pleasure. Feel free to spam me.
>we set up regimes all over the middle east including 25 years ago with mubarak being set up by jimmy carter >plant osama in iraq and give him weapons to fight off russia >invade iraq over oil, and be angry when they fight us with our own weapons
>finally kill someone defending his country, who wasn't responsible for 9/11, after having spent billions of dollars and 1000 of innocent civilians killed

Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the termination of MAST3RLINKX.

I saw the smoke of the WTC from the roof of our building. Every time I see a clear sunny blue sky, I think of that day.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's dead.
I think even rainbowdash would say "omygoshomygoshomygosh"!!!! over this. You can disagree with american policy, but Osama was shit who killed innocent men, women, and children. He was evil, plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteNot celebrating in the destruction of evil doesn't somehow make you better, so save your crocodile tears for this monster.
"Weapons are the tools of violence;
ReplyDeleteall decent men detest them.
Weapons are the tools of fear;
a decent man will avoid them
except in the direst necessity
and, if compelled, will use them
only with the utmost restraint.
Peace is his highest value.
If the peace has been shattered,
how can he be content?
His enemies are not demons,
but human beings like himself.
He doesn't wish them personal harm.
Nor does he rejoice in victory.
How could he rejoice in victory
and delight in the slaughter of men?
He enters a battle gravely,
with sorrow and with great compassion,
as if he were attending a funeral."
What you said man. Everyone else is Ecstatic, all I can think about is how weird it is that Americans, supposedly civilized people, are going wild partying about some has-been's death.
I hated him as much as the next guy. The world will be a better place without him. But this will only breed more violence. 10-1 there's a shit ton of car-bombings tomorrow and Osama's folowers will call it 'justice' just like we call our killings 'justice'...
and war marches happily on...
While I do not wish for the death on anyone, including him, this does help bring an end to the violence this whole thing has caused. I know that everypony don't want people to die but hopefully soon we can have peace.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt does keep you from sinking down to their level, though.
It's under the same logic that I feel that some criminals deserve to die yet I oppose the death penalty. I'm not offended if a mass murderer like Osama ends up dead, but I can think of far worse punishments than death that he would deserve more.
An entire country is celebrating the death of another human being. How savage.
ReplyDeleteObama's approval rating just got about 20% better.
ReplyDeleteIf there is an afterlife, im sure he has found himself in a rather unpleasant situation.
ReplyDeleteI hope that hell is like the budhist model, you stay till all your sins are purged or paid for. And while i wouldn't wish an eternity in hell on anyone, I do hope that he is among the last to get out of it.

ReplyDeleteWith streamers and cake and Pin-The-Tail-On-The-Pony!
(But I'll settle for karaoke night at Applebee's.)
This calls for celebration!
ReplyDeleteEVERYONE! Tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala on me!!
Oh dear, should we really be celebrating the death of somebody? Um, I don't agree with what he did or anything, but this is still a human being. It's a little hypocritical to say its good he was killed because he killed people, isn't it? Oh, but that's just what I think...
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyou lack the moral integrity to recognize that evil must not be tolerated, how sad.

ReplyDeleteThis is a proud day to be an american, accually its a proud day period! Justice has been served.... NOW BACK TO THE PONYS!! =D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that a mass murderer can no longer harm anyone else and that there were no civilian casualties in the action.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little disappointed that death is celebrated in my US, and even moreso in the MLP community.
ReplyDeleteIt's great for soldiers morale and the morale of the US.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeletePart of the brony creed is love and tolerance for all. Osama bin Laden epitomized everything that creed stands against.
It's a nebulous connection, certainly, but considering how monumental this event is, I don't personally see it as a problem.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYes, and now you know anonymous/lonestar that evil will always win, because good is dumb.
Or at least lazy. Some people believe that they are more moral by not taking a side, rather than standing against evil.
@Fluttershy
ReplyDeleteCelebrating the death of a Human Being is not a good thing, In my opinion however, when you are responsible for the deaths 2,752* civilians you give up whatever right you had to be called a Human and are nothing more than a monster. It is perfectly fine to celebrate the death of a monster.
*http://articles.cnn.com/2003-10-29/us/wtc.deaths_1_death-toll-world-trade-center-names?_s=PM:US
Honestly, I won't believe it till pictures of the body are released, but even the fact that the U.S. government is claiming to have the body is going to cause a lot of damage to Al Queda until all their agents know if it's fake or not. Short term power vacuums could do a lot of damage, if it is true, the vacuum could fracture the organisation irrepairably.
ReplyDeleteEither way, yay.
I learned this from my older brother who's currently stationed in afghanistan.
ReplyDeleteHow this relates to equestriadaily.com?
He's a bronie :D [term now used literally]
Can we go home now?
ReplyDeleteTo all the people who think we shouldn't be celebrating:
ReplyDeleteThere are very few people in the world who can legitimately be called "Evil." Theirs is a small but terrible group.
@Pacce There've been like 10 years worth of civilian casualities...
ReplyDeleteI am disappoint in any and all who celebrate the death of this man.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what he has done, I am disgusted with all of you.
I have lost people due to him and yet am morally firm enough to not celebrate his death, nor the death of any other person!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyou really think he would feel sorry in a air conditioned cell with 3 free meals a day payed by American tax money?
im not saying that's impossible but if he didn't learn a sense of morality living in some god forsaken cave I highly doubt he would learn it in a better living situation witch is what it would be
im not saying we should dance on his corpse but it is a good thing he is dead so he can no longer hurt others
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteJoking aside, Sethisto made it very clear that this post is something of sacrificial post to keep the inevitable Osama discussion off the rest of the site.
A future in which a man like Bin Laden would never have felt the need to end the lives of so many.
he was an evil enchanter and he did evil dances!
ReplyDeleteIts hard for me to say I want to celebrate, but there's no doubt he deserved it and the world is a better place with him gone. I'm glad he's dead.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyeah, HE was definitely evil.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteAny and all arguments regarding the relation to this event to ponies are now invalid.
Well-played, Anon.

ReplyDelete~Relieved that he can no longer hurt anypony.
~Wondering why this is on ED
@ZAquanimus
ReplyDeleteand we should give a fuck because?
stop trying to pretend your better than everyone els your happy hes dead your just not admitting it because you want to feel superior to everyone
he was a monster
he deserved it
and acting like a smug asshole that thinks your somehow higher than everyone els because your not taking joy in his death isn't going to stop others so theres no point in bitching about it unless you want to be an attention whore
weird post, but, well, I´m happy too. I really don´t expected to catch them, but those are good news.
ReplyDelete"And if God is great and God is good why can't he change the hearts of men?

ReplyDeleteWe aren't doing it to feel superior. We do it because we believe that good can be found in anyone, no matter how deep you have to dig to find it.
Are we secure in the knowledge that what he did was wrong? Absolutely.
But it's sad when someone loses their way so badly that others think they are monsters. More so when they delight in that hatred.
I believe THIS is tolerance and understanding. I'm sorry if you don't agree.
While I am glad that Bin Laden is no longer a threat, I do wish he had been take alive.
ReplyDeleteAlive, he could have been forced to stand trial and we could have dealt with him like decent, civilized beings.
Dead, he becomes a martyr to those who continue to follow his cause.
Too late now, though.
nightmare moon was technically just as much a person as was luna, but at the same time not the same person.
ReplyDeleteCelestia, the elements of harmony and all of equestria celebrated her destruction and as far as we know "death"
If anyone votes 1 star, "Hated it", I'm taking it as a terroristic threat.
ReplyDeleteCould everypony please calm down?

ReplyDeleteI do not mourn the death of this man whatsoever.
I do, however, lament the fact that we are still at war, that we still find reasons to kill each other, and that we can celebrate it.
A sense of peace or relief at the end of a villain and the removal of a threat I can understand, but not much more beyond that.
@Muffin
ReplyDeleteThank you Muffin :-)
I feel bad now... He will never have the opportunity to experience the friendship that is My Little Pony.
ReplyDeleteA-MARE-ICA FUCK YEAH.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteNo, he probably wouldn't.
This is neither good news nor bad news, it's just news. I will stay neutral on this information.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with this news is that there's now room for someone to do much worse. Or for things to become much better.
Nobody knows which way the wind blows, one person can change the world but would that be for better... or worse?
When good people in any country cease their vigilance and struggle, then evil men prevail.

ReplyDelete^ this is about what i was saying when I heard. Well mine was more explicit, but... you get the idea. :)
Osama was not a human. Ergo, there's no need to feel bad about celebrating that abomination's death.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that could have made this day any sweeter, is if they took him alive and tossed him naked out of an airplane with a parachute over the dead center of Georgia. Deliverance 2 anybody?
Well, I certainly would've preferred he was captured and tried, but whatever. I assume they finally got a clear shot, so I sure as sugar can't blame them for taking it.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem somewhat wrong to celebrate his death, though. Take grim satisfaction in the fact that justice was done, but don't be ecstatic over the ending of a life.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteBeing tolerant doesn't in any way mean we have to feel sorry for or even feel neutral about the death of someone who masterminded a deliberate attack on the United States that killed nearly three thousand innocent civilians. Ignoring the vast differences in scale, Adolf Hitler killed innocent people whom he believed deserved to die because of his own intolerance as well. We're not celebrating the "deaths" of these savages; we're celebrating the fact that they can no longer hurt anyone else.
.../it's not Godwin's Law because Osama isn't in this comment thread right now
awesome post that has nothing to do with ponies
ReplyDeleteI believe most of you are missing the point of this post.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I'm glad that he won't be hurting anyone anymore, but I'm not going to crack open a beer and go shouting down the street like my team just won a football game.
ReplyDeleteThere is a decided difference between those who are glad that an evil has been taken out of this world, and those who are just looking for a reason to get wasted and run around outside like a wild animal on crack. I think we would all do good to be able to know the difference.
But still, will this bring our troops home? I am willing to bet it doesn't change a damn thing.
@Frank
ReplyDeleteWhile i condemn your slander against the great state of Georgia, i have to admit that image is made all the funnier considering Osama's strict adherence to sharia and the Islamic stance on Pork.
ReplyDeleteHow appropriate to have the most American pony on the banner today.
ReplyDeleteThis seems to be quite the polarizing topic. My natural human tendencies want me to be happy that this "man" can no longer harm innocent civilians. But, as a fan of this show, I should be more tolerant and forgiving, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so, actually.
ReplyDeleteDAMN It's good to be American!
@Anon who responded to me.
ReplyDeleteOh no please don't take me saying Georgia as me slandering them.
ReplyDeleteYet I also say I must feel great disappointment that it took his death to celebrate.
@Aquaman52
ReplyDeleteYou'd be right if he actually masterminded the attack.
To all of those who think he should of been taken alive so he could "learn remorse" in prison..........How did that plan turn out with Charles Manson?
ReplyDeleteNot on Equestria Daily too?! Ugh, I can't escape this damn pyrrhic victory no matter where I go on the net! >_<
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the fireworks outside my window were for.
ReplyDeleteAmareica, F*** YEAH
While i agree that wishing death upon anyone is wrong. For the sake of a nation that went mad with grief over the actions of this monster and no logic can be applied to the way people will react to this news. He wasn't just some bad guy he was so much worse than that...
ReplyDeleteAnd while this show has taught us that there are better ways of living our lives. Let them have this, let us Americans react to this as we see fit. and leave it off the pony boards
It's clear to me that Obama saw Episode 25 and realized that ~no one~ can hide from Pinkie Pie. She was promptly hired for the assassination and Osama didn't stand a chance.
ReplyDelete@Frank
ReplyDeleteAlright, Im a hoosier myself, but only wanted to defend my relatives honor.
And huzzah on your locale. Ive spent many a happy summer on Dale Hollow, an exceptionally beautiful state.
@Aquaman52
ReplyDeleteAlso I said that as a person I'm glad he's dead, but as a brony I find it extremely hypocritical that this thread is even here on this blog.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteI was going to argue with you further, but when you played the 9/11 truther card i saw no point in continuing.
I wish you and your tinfoil hat a goodnight sleep.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteIf it had been an inside job I'm sure Wikileaks would of reported on it by now.
Which they haven't.
@Anon
ReplyDeleteSorry for the altercation, I can understand where you were coming from.
I've been down there a few times (Dale Hollow), really beautiful spot. ;)
@Feere Also, the moon landing was fake, Obama is from Kenya, Bigfoot is secretly in charge of the UN, and if you play Art of the Dress backwards it will tell you the magic spell you can use to open a portal to Equestria.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 9:59 pm
ReplyDeleteThe point of throwing him in jail isn't to teach him "remorse." I would have just preferred he be taken alive because I don't think killing is ever right, just a necessary evil at best.
Americans are supposed to stand for what they believe is right, that's just what I believe. I have enormous respect for our Armed forces, so please don't interpret my statement about killing as an indictment of their actions.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, Anon.

ReplyDelete<As an American, i weep for our education system.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteSethisto made the right choice in creating this thread to keep the discussion focused.
Also, i don't think it's hypocritical. As Obama said in his speech, America stood up for their "friends and allies" and their ideals. This is a proof of loyalty.
It figures I would hear this undeniably good news from ponies.

ReplyDeleteMoon landing wasn't a fake, I don't care where the corrupt Chicago politician is from, and the rest is just an insult to my intelligence.
@Anon 10:10
ReplyDeleteWhat? I fail to see how posting about a religious fanatic keeps the discussion focused. What discussion is that, pray tell?
Enough debate over whether or not we should give into our human nature and celebrate, or try to emulate how we imagine the ponies would react.
ReplyDeleteLet's talk about how the team that killed him didn't suffer any casualties.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteYour a moron! Of course the moon landings were faked, but I suport the government on this, we had to beat the communists to it!.......what? why you all looking at me like that?
@Feere
ReplyDeleteRight. The intelligence that makes you think that the United States would intentionally enhance and/or fully carry out an attack on their own people just to further their interests overseas.

ReplyDeleteThese are the same people who killed citizens in experiments during the 60's, released a virus on an airplane to track how fast diseases could spread (wouldn't harm anyone unless they had an alergic reaction, 1-4 people, forget the figure, died because of that), planted a mosquito colony in Georgia to see how fast malaria could spread (mosquitoes weren't infected), and left most of our warships vulnerable in one spot in Hawaii.
ReplyDelete@ Muffin
ReplyDeleteIt is as I said from before, how this silly bronie feels.
Indeed though, we seriously need to go watch some ponies and cheer for a different reason!
@Aquaman52
ReplyDeleteThink less of me as a human being. That's how you create monsters.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteI would like to be the first one to congratulate you on your successful trolling. The Pony avatar that implies you are an actual member of the community is a nice touch. Our ideals of love and tolerance can make us easy targets, but with your example we should be able to get better at finding and dealing with trolls.
@Feere
ReplyDeleteThose "experiments" were undertaken during the Cold War, more than fifty years, when the United States was a vastly different place than it is now, the virus was completely harmless and released in the New York subway to test how a virus used in a covert pathological attack might spread, adding disease-free mosquitos to the South is pouring a cup of tap water in a swimming pool, and a vast assortment of ships were collected at Pearl Harbor because that's what one tends to do at a naval base.
ReplyDeleteAgain: this new = great
Just doesn't belong on ED imo.
Please delete it.
I cant believe I'm saying this, but ponies can wait on pause for a moment.
ReplyDeleteNow for all of you who come in here against good old American pride, and try to bum the rest of us out by forcing your opinion on us with what just seems to be pointless drama, I have only one thing to say. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
Now I bid you all adieu while I down Budweiser and go shoot fireworks with my friends in celecration.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteAw, c'mon, don't stop him. I love forcing rational arguments onto trolls. Gets my brain going. And if this event is going to keep me up until the wee hours of the morning, I might as well have some fun with it.
Idk, I can't help feeling some of the replies here are not particularly well informed.
ReplyDeleteDing dong, the witch is dead, but what motivated him to become a witch?
He didn't deserve death. Not after what he's done.

ReplyDeleteOh for the love of-
No underground explosions were ever confirmed.
Geez! Look how this thread is now full of political crap. Wish we could live simplier lives.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWell I guess we were able to get to him before Pinkie did.

ReplyDeletethe whole iraq war was a lie to begin with... i mean, unless you get your news from places like cnn or fox
@Parallel Logic
ReplyDeleteHis death was more symbolic at this point.
Yeah... might as well close this thread, or at least lock it.

ReplyDeleteThank you.
@Aquaman52
If anyone's forcing anything, it's you. I've only presented my beliefs while you attack me and call me less than human for it, you can believe what you will. I'll also be the first to say that I get some information wrong as I'm not the best when it comes to recalling information.
@Anonymous 10:34
I've posted here before and will continue to do so. I posted in the 4,000,000 comics, and will continue to comment here, even if I have to face against people who hide behind false names, or no names at all.
I considered a vote for Applejack to be a vote for America.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, someone should probably shut me up now.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyea we sure wouldn't want people trying to make sense of this instead of blindly celebrating would we?
besides, its not like our discussion bumps it any higher.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteShould I take that as a compliment?
Because my head is throbbing right now from lack of sleep and I need someone to lock this damn thing so I no longer have the urge to keep posting in it.
WooT! He's dead! LET'S CELEBRATE!!
ReplyDelete*salutes!*

ReplyDeleteThank you.
@Aquaman52
I've done nothing but present my views and you've called me less than human for it. I most certainly am as I don't rush into snide assertions while under the influence of emotion.
@Anonymous 10:34
Feel free to spam me.
>we set up regimes all over the middle east including 25 years ago with mubarak being set up by jimmy carter
ReplyDelete>plant osama in iraq and give him weapons to fight off russia
>invade iraq over oil, and be angry when they fight us with our own weapons
>finally kill someone defending his country, who wasn't responsible for 9/11, after having spent billions of dollars and 1000 of innocent civilians killed
yea... woo victory
my guess is this will be answered by countless car bombs and other bad things to the American people
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame, that was one great game of hide and seek...
ReplyDeleteHm.. as I figured, my posts are being deleted as I make them even though they're not filled with hate speech.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason to like Applejack?
ReplyDeleteThis is probably a perfect distraction for the US to slip by something unpopular or make changes to laws while everybody is looking the other way.
ReplyDelete@Feere
ReplyDeleteno your posts are still here. even the one about 9/11 being an inside job.
I am disappointed that people still believe that
