• More Ridiculous Recolor Ponies

Lyra? Luna?  Who would want lame ponies like them!  Lets release Flutterheart and Feathermay instead!

Have some more recolors for you all to get confused over.  These were actually found on a Chinese Website, so no telling if they will ever make their rounds to the USA.

I am praying that some benevolent executive at Hasbro's toy division falls asleep on the job one day and sees a glorious vision of real background ponies from the actual show being sold to happy 24 year olds around the world.

Trixie! Luna!  Even Derpyhooves!  Everypony from Ponyville, and not some deviant art kids OC pony collection.

That would be the greatest day ever!

That was the facehoof heard 'round the world.

    4. I don't know. I think Flutterheart look kind of cool.
I still want to buy a Fluttershy and die her mane into Emoshy though.

      IKR?

      *Waits 'till nobody's looking*

      ...Forever alone. ;_;

All joking aside, why did China find out about the series? Just by looking at the packaging, I know no effort was put into the toys and they're probably all made with lead paint.

    12. WTF is this sh!t?

And why does everypony have to pull a wagon?

    13. MAYBE they are ponies for season 2?

ho hum, regrdless. Lets see what fanart comes from this!

    14. Oooh! Ooh ooh ooh! Do I get to be the one that pours gasoline onto the fire?

      Yay!

Remember, Hasbro tells the television show what they want to see in it. And for every moderate hit (Cherilee), they tend to have several BIG misses (Twilight's Owl).

So.... these might just become background ponies after all! Wouldn't that be GREAT(ly annoying)?!

      ReplyDelete
    15. 90% more pink I'm guessing.
Pink seems to push the toys would be the logic.
Snowcatcher has slightly less pink then average. She's probably a limited run.

    16. Bronies forget, Hasbro is in this to make money, not please the fans. Look at how many Transformers fans are still waiting for that glorious new mold Classic inspired figure or other. Or the endless repaints of Bumblbee in the movie line.

Be thankful they aren't Shine Trap Rarity and Stealth Twilight Sparkle or Recon Rainbow Dash. I for one applaud these repainted ponies because... They mean more new characters for fanfictions that are actually toys and not OC ponies! Not that I don't like OC ponies, I just have a penchant for creating stories using toys that are often neglected by the media they are attached to.

Now, if only Hasbro's Pony Distribution would pick up, I still need a Cheerilee, Blossomforth, Dewdrop Dazzle, Cupcake and Lulu Luck.

    17. Honeybuzz can control bees. She's cool in my book. ;)

      ReplyDelete
    18. Hey look guys! Rarity finally has opal! ...wait.

      ReplyDelete
    19. Actually, I might pick up that Snowcatcher one just for the kitty. I can repaint it to be a proper Opalescence for my actual Rarity brush-able.

      ...

...I'll just turn in my man-card on my way out.

      ReplyDelete
    20. Somepony quick! Write a story about Honeybuzz taking control of a giant hive and wreaking terror over Equestria! The only thing that can stop her? A one-way ticket to the moon!

lol. Now I'm thinking about Celestia vs. a swarm of bees.

    21. ... I'd like feathermay if she wasn't a fucking RD recolor.

    22. Let's see...
      Two unicorns
      Two pegasi
      Only one earth pony
As if they don't have enough against them, now they're underrepresented in the toys too?

      ReplyDelete
    23. OMG. How did you know I'm 24!?

      ReplyDelete
    24. ...Do pony toys look like they're balding to anyone else? I mean, not just these, but toys in general that have the brushable hair.

      ReplyDelete
    25. I kinda like Honeybuzz and Feathermay... I still want a Dewdrop Dazzle, too. I actually don't mind the recolors, because if they sell, they'll make more toys, so there's a greater chance we'll get other ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Amen to that!

Don't get me wrong, I'm expecting them to make some extra ponies that aren't in the show, but they should at least be releasing some background ponies in with these. Isn't that how they've done it for over 25 years now?

And it doesn't help that almost all the non-show ponies they've released have been pink or purple... I'm a girl and it's making me nauseous. They have such hideous color combos too. I didn't think there was a color combination bad enough to make me dislike a pony with a cupcake on it's ass, but you found it, Hasbroken.

      ReplyDelete
    27. Sometimes I wonder... maybe these toys are planned out way ahead of time, and when they decided to do these recolors the brony fanbase didn't really exist yet...

Of course, that's me being optimistic.

      ReplyDelete
    28. I....ok that story idea for Honeybuzz sounds awesome, I kind of like her now

      ReplyDelete
    29. Feathermay? Snowcatcher? Back in my day we had cool recolour ponies like Blossomforth and Cherry Spices.

On the other hand, we clearly need fanfiction writers to write something about Emoshy and CheeriBEEEEEEEEEEEES.

      ReplyDelete
    30. Alright, I'm typically indifferent to these, but seriously that last one is basically just Unicorn Pinkie. And not in the awesome way that it should be.

      ReplyDelete
    31. Pony wears the saddle
      Pony pulls the cart
Pony puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again...

To the Brony claiming that Hasbro wants to make money, not please the fans. I dunno about you, but, I'm a fan, but I'm NOT going to spend money on recolours, I'm loath to even do it on haired ponies at all, since I found that even the McDonalds toys irritated me with their knotting and loose hairs.

Of course, I in no way represent the money spending majority, being from a country that hasn't had an official release, and a sex that isn't targeted as an audience member of the show, nor even an age that would be interested in 'play toys'. yes, I want a cool little figure, that I can put on a shelf or on my desk.

But to the crux of my point. Hasbro wants to make money. I would buy a haired Ditzy Doo, or a Luna, or a Lyra, or Macintosh, or Trixie. Hell, if I could get a huge Trixie plushie, I would. I'd put her next to a Gilda Plushie, and they could be awesomely evil together, mocking my anime figures for being lame.

I'm willing to place all 5 of my man cards on the line, and what little resources I have, to bet that I'm not the only one out there who thinks the same. If there's such a low demand for lazy recolours, and such a high one for more relevant gubbinz, it confuses me as to why this is still the state of affairs.

That's just my two pence, nothing more than an English blokes opinion.

      I REALLY want a Trixie Plushie >_>

      ReplyDelete
    32. I find it silly that people are still complaining about pony recolors. They aren't that terrible TBH. I'm eagerly awaiting the resulting fanart and fanfiction (Terrible or not).

      ReplyDelete
    33. the are just terrible.

      ReplyDelete
    34. Theres nothing super bad about the toys, its just that they could do with using some different template for the art on the box.

      ReplyDelete
    35. This is what happens with toys...it's cheaper to just take mold you already have and repaint than it is to make something new...it's been happening with all toys, for girls and boys, since the dawn of time.

      ReplyDelete
    36. Out of all of them I'd probably get the Fluttershy recolor, but lol won't have any of those at the store I go to. Hell we haven't even had Cheerilee and the others yet. :v

But goddamn Hasbro is terrible at color-coordination. At least the ponies actually ON the show look nice; most of the Hasbro-recolors have mane colors that don't look good with the body color AT ALL. Feathermay? Snowcatcher?

      ReplyDelete

    38. I wish we had awesome recolours like we did back in the G2 days. Most of those weren't in the animated stuff, but they were pretty cool.

While I'm at it, Easter Ponies! Why don't we have any for G4? I used to have one with a cutie mark of a butterfly pooping eggs. She was damn adorable.

Feathermay hair + Fluttershy Body + Model Paint = Spitfire the Wonderbolt!

Maybe I'm the only one that sees it...

      ReplyDelete
    43. seriously come on habro enough with the recolor ponies why dont they use some of the background ponies like the ones mention above and some original art on the box not the recolor main i bet also little girls who likes to play with MlP get mad of seen the same pony they have in another color.

      ReplyDelete
    46. can you say "Bait Ponies"? Really that's all I can think, these are customization bait ponies. feather May is so bait for Custom Spitfire. These toys are just padding for the line, Hasbro has always been good at using recolors to make the line bigger. Honestly do they really pay attention to the cartoon? Or are the background ponies not Pink enough?

      ReplyDelete
    47. Feathermay, i want you! She's like Waterfire's little sister!

      ReplyDelete
    49. Furthering my previous comments, I being the one to mention Hasbro's tendancies to repeat this same pattern in their Transformers toyline...

My Little Pony, much like Transformers and other hot ticket toylines is planned out well in advance of any media blitz or fan reaction to same.

Lauren Faust may have created a brilliant series with Hasbro's property, but her characters ultimately were based on concept designs of figures that had been planned out months in advance by Hasbro's Pony Design Department. (Derpy was not one of them most likely, sorry fans of the Muffin lover, but it's probably true.)

All of these recolour ponies are, for lack of a better term, pre-fan reaction to animators one -off characters products.

We may someday see a Trixie or a Luna, but Hasbro is not going to give them to us all at the start, they need to pad the line out so it will last longer. Thus these characters are not yet present.

As for them not being in the show, you are sadly mistaken, Lemon Hearts has been seen on camera a few times, she even spoke in Green isn't Your Color. I'm certain we've seen other Blind Bag ponies on the show, and I'm not sure 100% if they came before or after the animators decided on using them, as far as toyline data is concerned.

You might prefer to have a Trixie in your collection, but you'd have better luck making your own than waiting for Hasbro to get around to it, all the stuff so far was planned out to last over a year I'd wager, the design teams are more than likely scrambling to get Trixie and others into production based on fan-reaction... However I wouldn't bet too much on that, Bronies and Ponies don't make up the majority of Pony Purchasing Power. Children Ages 3 & Up do, plus their parents.

Just because we adults also enjoy the show and toyline to an extent doesn't mean Hasbro's going to cater to our wants. It isn't financially sound. They'll throw us a bone, er, I mean, a Trixie or a Luna eventually, but don't expect to see it anytime before Season Two. This is the same company who made Princess Celestia Pink after all and the Animators turned her white on the show, I'm confident she was always meant to be pink, the animators just chose white to represent her instead. They do have some creative control for the media side of things after all.

    50. Alright guys,

I got mad enough after seeing this that I drafted a petition to Hasbro asking for better toys.

      http://www.petitiononline.com/ponytoys/petition.html

      Thoughts?

    51. More craziness: the Chinese site that was linked to seems like some kind of Etsy-like site. The product being sold there is advertised as a "component for pony iPhone covers". The same person who is selling Honeybuzz also sells a pony glued on to an iPhone cover.

That's right, Chinese brony actually makes iPhone accessories out of ponies and sells them. Crazy!

      ReplyDelete
    52. I'm not going to rant or go angry like every other brony who wanted a Trxie. (Do little girls even want a "show-off" (no offense) like her?)\

      Anyway...

Feathermay is allright, but someone did a gray re-color and I find it bad@$$. But that did not happen, sadly.

      Flutterheart is "eh".

Honeybuzz AKA Bumblesweet is far my favorite of the next round... I was about to call her "Bublebuzz".

Snowcatcher's colors are weird. Maybe a blue-white mane-tail (or Trixie colors) would make her look better for the winter.

Twinkleshin(?) is okay... But yes, what's with the pink? :X

I still want to see Cupcake as Pinkie's baking partner on the show one day (even for 15 secs is fine), as well some other re-colored ponies... (Just don't use the mane cast's mane/hair design.)

Also on a related topic for re-colors, I grew attached to the blind-bag Sweetcream Scoops. Sure for a re-colored Twilight S., but I did all I can to re-draw my vision of Scoops. Her hair is a bit on the wild design though. But better than copying other pony's hair~

Calling hasbro 'money grubbing' probably isnt the best way to go.

I mean, they ARE, but we dont say that to their faces if we want them to give us what we want, right? ;)

      ReplyDelete
    54. Well, I can't say that I mind all the new bait, being a pony modder... but are they even selling those recolor ponies here in the US? I haven't even seen any others than the mane 6 here in my area.......... EVER. Some folks are claiming they're only selling these ponies overseas, and I just have to ask.......... WHY??? :(

    56. Hasbro marketing and toy design are fuggin' stupid.

      ReplyDelete
    57. Ok, seriously, you guys need to chill the hell out. Real My Little Pony fans and collectors are happy to have new designs. ("recolors"? What? Hasbro has *always* used the same poses over and over, ever since the 80's.......did you even know that Ponies existed before Friendship is Magic??! Albeit there was always more than one pose. But really get over it)

If all these "recolors" are are "bait" to you then go make whatever characters you damn well please out of them. But petitions? Seriously just give it up and be glad that there are any new characters at all to collect--if any of you even collect more than figures of characters your new favorite TV show.

These are the first new characters collectors have had in several years. It's nice even if they are "recolors" as you all put it.

      ReplyDelete
    59. Maybe they're just chinese knockoffs? Have you ever thought of that?

      ReplyDelete
    60. @Anonymous

Yeah, you're right. Hasbro should just continue to cater to the handful of adult collectors who will buy almost anything that they put to market.

Nevermind the brand-new, rapidly expanding fanbase that is eager to spend their money on anything that even REMOTELY resembles the show they love. I mean, the show is just single-handedly responsible for breathing new life into a fading brand...but I'm sure without it, little girls would have kept spending the huge amounts of cash that little girls typically have on something they have no idea why they should care about for a couple more decades. It's ALWAYS best just to maintain the status quo, and expect things to get better.

You should totally work for Hasbro's marketing department, dude. Just tell them your brilliant slogan, "Buy whatever we make, be happy about it, and shut the hell up". Genius. Nevermind that people are so desperate to buy things that actually represent the show that they love (and not the one from 20+ years ago), that perceptive third parties have begun to profit from the lack of attention that Hasbro has paid to consumer demand (Shark Robot shirts, Etsy pins, remixed music from the show on iTunes, etc.)

Continuing to ignore a growing majority of potential consumers is a GREAT strategy in a capitalist market. I'm glad that you're is perceptive enough to realize this.

      /end sardonic rant

      ReplyDelete
    61. These comments, it's almost like I'm on the Transformers Wiki!

Even though I agree; you'd think they'd base the recolors off the ones in the show. I mean, they coulda just asked them "Hey art guys, what background ponies are you using, so we can make toys outta them?" And then boom, done. Even if the names didn't match, we could always pretend.. or get the second shipments to rename 'em!

      ReplyDelete
    62. Lmao Feathermay...that's what happens when you combine Rainbow Dash with SpitFire xD and throw a bucket of pink on it

    63. Here's what you should put in a petition FOR HASBRO

''Insert where to look for the actual suggestion''

(Insert giant 4-5 page Rant in here)

      (Insert actual suggestion in here)
(Tell them that 4 sketches by Lauren scored 16.000+ Dollars)

alternately switch the suggestion up and the rant down and add a lot of big numbers.

corporate 30-50 year olds are complete morons which don't even check the internet
except for some which actually know what they're doing

      ReplyDelete
    64. I'm an 80's girl and I loved a lot my ponies, I know that these ponies had the same pose and just changed their colours like happens with the actual ponies, but the big diference is that today the successful of the TV series makes the fans want to see not only the main characters, the background characters have a lot of fans, probably more than the main characters :P

Hope the executives decide to produce some of these background characters. I want to see Trixie, Lyra, Derpy Hooves and other ponies and including the fillies like Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, the lil colts Snips and Snails and the ones I want to see more are the Male characters like Big MacIntosh and Braeburn.

I always asked myself "how can these ponies look if Hasbro produce them?" because custom ponies look totally diferent than the original toys.

Of course that the recolour ones are good not only for collectors, they including can be used for custom ponies, the colours of these bodies are awesome and the manes and tails have cool colours too. :3

      ReplyDelete
    65. Oh I love these coming out :D Makes for wonderful custom bait :D Lowers the amount of times I have to to a full body repaint which is just a painful process really.

      ReplyDelete
    66. @Anonymous

You're incredibly naive and wrong if you think that collectors--both REAL and FIM-only fans--are the largest chunk of the market buying ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    67. IDK, besides the name and picture rip-offs, they look cute
At least they'll be worth to be customised instead of using the original pony merchandise

    69. I actually like some of the recolors - I have actually made a pretty cool Pirate Pony OC from Feathermay, and I'm working on a new design and character on Flutterheart!

      ReplyDelete
    70. You know what, I would like to have these.
I WISH THAT THE US WOULD ACTUALLY GET SOME DAMNED RECOLORS.
      GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

      ReplyDelete
    71. I have a few of these. They're fun because since they're non-canon (well, actually a lot of them are just background ponies) you can style their hair however you want and get creative.

Also, they form the foundation of custom ponies. Painting bodies is kind of ugly, so the more body colors get out there, the better!

      ReplyDelete
    72. Dang what ugly colors!
The only one that looks ok is Honebuzz, I'd buy her.

      ReplyDelete
    73. That is a bit interesting how designs get a palet swap like that. However it can get more creative than that. My mom gives me ponies occasionally through the mail. Today I got FeatherMay. She never appears in the tv show. So I imagined what her story was. Here it is.

FeatherMay found frendship in someone so different from her. She was a gentle mare who loved to ride the breezes. She loved how soft feathers captured her style, and it is symbolized by her cutie mark. FeatherMay had a mane and tail with an array of warm colors: red, orange and yellow. Her body was megenta. FeatherMay's best and most dearest friend was quite the opposite. He was a stallion, named PowerWind. He was bold, strong and powerful. He created big gusts of wind by flapping his wings. He was so good at generating wind power, he had a windmill cutie mark. PowerWind had a mane and tail with an array of cool colors: green, blue and purple. His body was sky blue. FeatherMay and PowerWind got along so well because they had a wonderful harmony. Thier differences complemented eachother, instead of driving them apeart. They only got closer to eachother as thier lives continued on. It ultimatly created a new life. FeatherMay beared a beautiful filly. The daughter had purple eyes like her mother, and a blue body like her father. Her most striking feature was the color of her mane and tail. It combined the colors of both parents in a nice spectrum order. This inspired the name RainbowDash. FeatherMay and PowerWind had a wonderful time raising thier filly. RainbowDash grew up with an affinity for powered flight. She brilliantly blended the styles of her breezy mother and her bold father.

From reading the other comments, I can tell many folks are not too happy about pallet swapping ponies. I am alright with it. On the bright side, it can be an opportunity to get creative. FeatherMay really does look like RainbowDash with a pallet swap. I think that if she was a real character, there needs to be some explaination for the similarity. She would probably be the mom, grandma or some relative. I totally made the story up where FeatherMay is the mother. Her husband has got to be a blue stallion,so he can pass on the color traits to RainbowDash. Finally the story is influinced by my favorite My Little Pony fanfiction, "My Little Dashy".
