Man, this just hit me. I had the same project in my physics class in high school. And it was an awesome enough class that I probably would have had the balls to use MLP. Man, I wish MLP existed back then.
We had to: 1.) Find a TV show / Movie with physic problems / correctness. 2.) Explain why they were wrong (if they were) 3.) Fix them
Applejack is composed of dark matter. That explains a lot.
And so are butterflies!
On the Fluttershy one, though, there's a few more assumptions he could have made. First, ponies are about the size of large dogs. Second, Pegasi are likely much lighter than other ponies.
Overall, I really enjoyed this presentation. I remember my brother had a similar one years ago (physical impossibilities in animation) that he did on FF7 Advent Children.
i think these things can be fixed with a couple of changes in assumptions. pegasi are obv much later than normal ponies, because, comparing the size of wings to the size of their wings and their flap rate, they clearly need to provide less force than would be otherwise needed. this fixes problems #2 and #3 as for no 1- she's RD. she's just that AWESOME.
Aww.. he didn't go into the whole 'Rainbow Dash would have to accelerate at 1000Gs in order to avoid crashing into the ground after catching Rarity and the Wonderbolts' calculation I'd seen before.
I do subscribe to the 'Applejack is made of dark matter' theory, however.

Count me in on the "Pegasi are lighter than other Pony types" bandwagon.
Although I did read one theory that posited that what Pegasi really do is what Sci Fi calls "inertial compensation" to do all their flying tricks.
Or maybe it's just straight up antigravity given that Rainbow Dash can lift (possibly filled with Dark Matter) Applejack with wingpower (and gripping mouth) alone.

I think what he meant to say was degenerate matter, which is what makes up neutron stars. Ten cubic kilometer of this stuff weighs about as much as Jupiter. A teaspoon weighs about as much as 100,000,000 blue whales.
Let;s face it. Fluttershy can't have a mass of 275 kilograms in her fillyhood. Just compare her size to bunnies and stuff. 275 can be only if her bones are made of metal or Dark matter (LoL)
This brony is strong willed. I'm very impressed with his enthusiasm in even considering making such topic. Bravo. He is an inspiration to us all. I salute to him.
Great presentation. Still, I always thought of ponies were much lighter than what I expected. I was in the range of 100-200 kilos. On the exception of Pegasi's as they are much needed to be lighter in order to keep themselves in the skies. Hence why Applejack was able to catapult Rainbow Dash off to the distance. Same principles apply for Fluttershy- only she was younger at that time with the Butterfly incident.
I'm totally taking a physics course in the fall, so I might totally be able to do this type of crap! Though it is a lecture course, so I'm not sure how much... presentinging I'll be able to do. Darn college lectures and their nuking of fun with ponies
He assumed that the physics of the Pony universe were the same as those in our own. Obviously that isn't true. We don't need to change the seasons manually, nor do we need a living god to raise the sun in the morning.
The sonic rainboom was probably a result of the friction between whatever it is that allows pegasi to fly (those wings are wayy too small!) and the world's magical field.
One could assume that the 'cloud of butterflies' that caught Fluttershy was close enough to fit the specifications of whatever passive magical effect allows pegasi to walk on clouds.
this is actually pretty cool. best one yet. he didnt put down any ponies. he showed enough to maybe get people curious about checking it out, kinda like a teaser, and he had a cool physics. good job brony.
I always figured that Pegasi had hollow bones like birds do. That might explain Rainbow Dash's angle on the see-saw and go a bit towards how the butterflies could catch Futtershy. The Sonic Rainboom... not so much.

That was awesome, the best Brony presentation so far. I wish I had this kind of physics project when I was in school. The reactions from his class mates was great, hopefully he has inspired some of them to check out the show.
Maybe he was limited by time but he could have also talked about the impossibilities of teleporting.
