Alright I'm done with Yoyo Games. I thought they screened their stuff... but I guess not.
Yoyo games, or any other plugin requiring game site is now banned, so don't send them.
DA/newgrounds/other sites that don't require a download are perfectly fine.
I apologize to everyone that was exposed to the Luna. The person that made it says he/she sent it to someone else to get some feedback and she/he got that back.

Guessing virus.
ReplyDeleteThat's freaking stupid.
http://i52.tinypic.com/2mpy34k.png
ReplyDeleteIf you wounder why he banned it
You've earned my trust again. At first, I thought you were just trying to scar us with a really bad prank. But I see now that you really are an honest guy.
ReplyDeleteThank you seth.
Wasn't all that disturbing. I'm more annoyed that I expected platformer and got Demon Pie.
ReplyDeleteGuess I missed it, lol. What exactly was it about the Luna game tha was wrong?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Hmm, I dl'd and played it, but I didn't get any of that. Just an unplayable game and creepy applebloom.
ReplyDeleteAnd a frozen computer
ReplyDelete._.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a malicious program, and most definitely NOT a virus, but to the guy who made it:
Yeah, I know that you're going to read this.
Dick. Move.
I'm watching you.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt was just some retarded screamer.
@FightingFire
ReplyDeleteIt was actually sent from the same guy that trixie'd the wikipedia page, so I didn't really worry about it too much.
WHOA! And I actually went and clicked on the link! I was that close but decided that I should probably finish my homework first.
ReplyDeleteThanks, man. Phew, dodged a bullet there...
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhen you start it off. It seems like a pretty solid game. You're just Luna jumping around and stuff. But then, you get to a certain point. You become flashed with a really creepy picture of applebloom with some really creepy noises. You can't close out of it either. I had to do an emergency shut off on my computer to get out of it.
@Sethisto
ReplyDeleteI know. I knew, actually. I have already told him what a dick move it was, and that's why I knew he would get the message.
But still, yoyo games wasn't the issue, just him.
I'm sorry, but I found it kind of hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI already regret deleting it, since YoYo Games removed the download link from their site. I kind of wanted to get my brother with this.
I got the creepy applebloom and then my firewall was all like "This program is trying to send mouse events to another program" and I'm all like "Thanks firewall, for reminding me why I set you up to bug me for things like that".
ReplyDelete@Naxts
ReplyDeleteI was able to open Windows Task Manager via AltCtrlDel.
From there, using the arrow keys to select Luna Game and pressing Tab to hit End Process got me out of it.
Well, gotta wonder why it wasn't tested before put on the page.
ReplyDeleteJust saiyan.
woulda been great yesterday but just creepy today.
ReplyDeletewe need a pony-roll but demon pinkie pie...not demon pinkie pie is pretty good someone go upload this to youtube.
@FightingFire
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the issue, but I'm guessing it kinda shows how sketchy Yoyogames games can be in general. If this happened, who knows what else could. And that's why Seth's done with them.
Just woundering, am I the only one who got the spam problem?
ReplyDeleteLook in the folder you ran your "Luna Game.exe" from. Unless you ran it online or something. It freaked me out at least.
So, what was this all about? I didn't get to download the plug-in, or see the site, so, I'm kinda lost here...
ReplyDeleteWow...now I'm kind of glad that Yoyo games DOESN'T work on my computer.
ReplyDeleteWho knew my outdated drivers would do something nice for me, eh?
To anyone who wants to see what it was like, don't even bother. Just don't. At first it was just a simple side-scroller where one moves Luna across a world covered in boxes. Then, after a set amount of time, it would stop being so nice. It would stop being so simple. Either an image of a creepy, murderous Applebloom would pop up (with accompanying creepy music) or a "ZALGO-fied" Pinkie Pie would appear, along with the music, but would fill up your desktop with that same image and countless text files that read "the end is neigh" if you couldn't close it fast enough. Nothing more interesting than that.
ReplyDeleteZ̧̜̈̓ͨ͗͠A͙̰̖͍̘͉ͩ͑ͨ̄ͣ͗ͅL͍͖̟̱̥͌̊̈̓ͣͣ͜G̟̜͈̎͛Ó̶̞
(sorry, I need to do that)
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI tried to do that but my mouse was kindda gone.
U all so silly. Alt+F4 works wonders.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteApril 3, 2011 4:52 PM here, man that's a huge mess... glad I didn't see it... anyways, thx man.
Did anyone download the game? I wanna keep the game, I found it hilarious
ReplyDeleteNow I kind of want to see this.
ReplyDeleteHmm, it appears they took the file off YoYo games as well. Thank goodness I had already downloaded it. Now I don't have to wait until Halloween to penetrate my heart with utter fear!
ReplyDeletePhil Ken Sebben: HA HA, HA! penetrate.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteCan you upload a link to it? PLease? Thanks!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteHere you go.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P5A9MHTX
You've been warned though. :(
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI know, I played it before but didn't download it, thanks brony!
Would of been perfect for halloween, but otherwise just dumb.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteNo! I was supposed to give him the link!
Eh, who cares, anonymous is counted as a single person, so it's really like I released* the link to the public myself. But without any negative drawbacks.
*Phil Ken Sebben: HA HA, HA! release.
I can't be the only one who missed this and now *wants* it, right? If someone has a megaupload or the like of it, it'd be most appreciated.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeletePhil Ken Sebben: HA HA, HA! inattentive.
Whoa, that was actually pretty cool.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if you made the name a little less obvious.
How am I going to give my friends nightmares with something as plain as that?
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI could probably get it, but I'm not sure you want it. It is kinda annoying.
:|
ReplyDeleteSeriously, fans get all kinds of neat easy-drag-and-click tools to make games to share with fans, and they spend their time making scareware?
Yeah, I can't blame you for banning the links.
Though Flash isn't exactly free of exploits, either.
I dont see what all the hype was about this, it was easy enough to close, and even so it didn't even really do anything other than save a few pictures of the creepy pinkie pie.
ReplyDeletePretty funny joke if you ask me
If somepony who has it would be so kind as to record playing it and put it on YT, that would be awesome.
ReplyDelete...I'm too scared to try.
Yoyo games has consistently crashed Firefox 3.6 anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the swift reaction, though.
:P
Aww man, I love Zalgo stuff and I missed it :(
ReplyDeleteUpload to YT pwease?
I'll make a video, nothing better to do.
ReplyDeleteD'AW JAYSUS
ReplyDeletewtb that video! it could make some great creepy pasta
ReplyDeletehaha I am curious to see that now.
ReplyDeleteShit, how am I supposed to get my RPG out to people now?
ReplyDeleteHm... perhaps it's worth some actual testers. I didn't know you could do that sort of thing through Game Maker! Holy crap! o.o;
@Neon Noble
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm sure you can work something out with Sethisto, given enough testers/trustworth people running it..
I'm sure something will work.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI hope so! I know I'm not cruel enough to even consider distributing a virus like that... ugh, it gives me shivers thinking about that stuff.
And anyway,t here's nothing to show yet, so I'm sure time will help.
Wait, does this mean all Gamemaker made games are banned, or just upload it on a different hosting site?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteHe did mention anything that must be downloaded, which is what worries me.
I kinda want to open it...but I'm scared
ReplyDeleteshould I open it?
@Neon Noble
ReplyDeleteThere never was any actual virus.
The program just took a bunch of screenshots and saved a few small text files.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOh. Well, still, it's not a very nice thing to do >.>
@Neon Noble
ReplyDeleteI agree completely, but it IS a huge relief to know it wasn't actually dangerous.
Sooooo what is this RPG you've got?
Got a WIP version, or video of some sort I can check out?
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteNo WIP version or video is around yet since the engine's barely been started. HOWEVER, I HAVE been working on the sprites. =3
http://neonsupertails.deviantart.com/art/Twelve-RPG-Ponies-203383904
@Neon Noble
ReplyDeleteLooks Sweet!
What engine are you using to make it again?
Sorry it took so long! n.n
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W84tb2GLJpA&feature=player_embedded
I had some problems trying to record and upload it...almost as if Pinkie Pie didn't want it put online.
@Leaf
ReplyDeleteHoly Jesus that is creepy.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThe program "Game Maker 8". I'm making the engine from scratch, like the sprites, because that's how I roll.
@Neon Noble
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh!
I'm making my own game from scratch in Game Maker 8 as well!
It's a platoformer World builder thing, not pony related though.
You want another programmer for the team?
@AnonymousHmmm... this will be perfect to test my coms security. I built it to be ridiculously powerful, and I've been itching to find something to test it's limits without causing permanent damage.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm perfectly confident in my abilities of screwing up and then figuring out what went wrong so I can fix it, but if I ever DO need additional help, I'll make sure to make a shout-out. =3
@leaf
ReplyDeletehere's another vid

a) Programs like this are commonly called "trojans" or "trojan horses" because you have to actively drag them inside your city walls i.e. run them on your computer, they can't spread like a virus. I would then liken them to prions, which behave the same way in real life, as they are proteins which must be ingested and expressed by a cell to do damage.
ReplyDeleteb) THIS is why I didn't download anything from YoYo. I have a STRONG distrust for anything that SHOULD be just run from within a browser "corral" like Flash, such as a simple pony game, but requires you to download a plugin. I don't want anything like that that can affect actual files on my computer (beyond what Flash allows a game to save by default, which can't go outside its little sandbox).
Ironically, people were laughed at for being skeptical at these yoyogames plugins and then something like this happens.
ReplyDelete@Alfador
ReplyDeleteI believe you are mistaken
This is a program created using Game Maker, and it merely saves a few screenshots in game.
It has no malicious executions, and doesn't actually touch any files.
I must be a sucker for punishment. DLing for lulz later.
ReplyDeleteWell. Unfortunately not enough to creep me out, but interesting.
ReplyDeleteToo bad no more download games...That "Way Home" thing was okay.
1. You don't need the plugin to play the games.
ReplyDelete2. The games on YoYo are created with Game Maker, which is actually quite powerful. Therefore, it can do simple things any C-Program can do, too: Delete files, change registry keys.
=> Banning the site is a bit harsh, but I agree that Yoyo does not check their games much.
On the other hand however, it's the same risk that is involved with any other kind of executable.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyou made me google Zalgo. Goodbye sleep.
***hole.
Goodbye sleep
ReplyDeleteCommon sense saves me from having to deal with script kiddie nonsense yet again.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little filly
And the sun was going down
The darkness and the shadows
They would always made me frown
I'd hide under my pillow
From what I thought I saw

Are Java applets still allowed? (Games like Minecraft use them)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing you just need a new screener (or ten) before posting those games instead of banning these things automatically (There have been some really great fan games that required more than what the browser currently offers). But then it might take at best a day before any new game is uploaded online.
ReplyDeleteOr just ban executables all together to prevent total destruction while browser-based games can still call home and do the same kind of damage.
I see...so heh, sad news for a sequel then...
ReplyDelete<<The way Home creator.

So does this mean I can't post my fan game anymore?
ReplyDeleteIt's not a screamer... But my game, it's fun!
hi I'm just wondering is the creepypasta really as much of a problem for people as is being says in this post's comments? Because equestriagaming paints an entirely different and positive picture.
ReplyDeleteI mean I dont like that you can't quit and it hides your mouse. But you gotta admit a lot of people like this game.
Also, does this mean that Luna game was made in Game Maker?
:)
my apologies, I didnt want to post with my old account with such a stupid partisan name. I can't figure out how to unlink it. This is Dialga-Brite, in case anyone knows me. :)
ReplyDeleteThis faggot Shaun Scotellaro banned downloadable games, because of a fucking program that just copies some files on your desktop?
ReplyDeleteYou are the biggest pussy asshole in the world. I hope you die in your sleep and in hell with a fucking Luna tulpa cutting your cutting your balls every night, Seth. You fucking autistic retard.
