When I first saw this, I sang the entire song as loud as I could. I couldn't help it, I loved the song and video that much. The problem was that I woke up my family at 1 in the morning. They all come downstairs wondering why I'm screaming, only to see me dancing and singing I'll make a man out of you" while watching ponies. Needless to say, IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still in awe at the response towards this, especially when it popped up on synchtube. Suffice to say, it was an interesting experience to see everyone's reactions live.
well, Today I've heard this song first time in it's original language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCi7sxXvJu4
Man, It's far behind in terms of coolness in comparison to the russian version of this song. (And usually original is always the best, but not in this one).
Still Mulan is one of my most favorite cartoons. And ponies, yeap, cool.
Jumping clips to match the lipsync kinda bugged me, especially the bit starting with "You're the saddest bunch I ever met". I felt like each phrase could have stuck with a single scene. (Of course, this is limited by the capabilities of your video editing software, so I'm not gonna complain too loudly.)
I want to call out the gold silk/ "asked for sons" (suns?) transition as particularly well executed.
I loved Fluttershy being "tranquil as a forest but with a fire within", but her first "force of a great typhoon" completely killed me! =D
Fair enough. My video editing software is perfectly capable, it's the fact that my own skills are not up to par to do that kind of thing yet. Quite frankly the only thing I've used Sony Vegas for is to cut/paste clips from my let's plays.
If I ever do one of these again, I will definitely take your criticism into consideration.
That was PHENOMENAL. Very possibly the best MLP music video I've seen. I literally got chills. @_@ Any pairing of MLP with Disney is practically an automatic win, but this one is EPIC, SO well done. *applause*
I have so much testosterone in my system right now, I just walked outside and destroyed a car with my bare fists. I am a beast of love and friendship right now.

The video fits great! Too often, these are "some clips with a song", but this is one of the ones that really works.

ReplyDeleteIt's just a matter of scrubbing back and forth across the same set of lip-flaps to match it up. Not too tough, just time-consuming.
I hope you don't think that means I didn't freaking love the video, though. Cuz I do. :)
^ And while I'm at it, the arm's a size tight, the middy collar doesn't match the shawl lapel... :)
ReplyDeleteAh okay, I guess I'll experiment with that later whenever I have time.
