Some crazy brony named Louis took the first 2 episodes and turned them into screenplays, including pretty much every single detail of the show. Both of them look like they could have come from Lauren Faust herself! I'm sure the film students out there will find something interesting here. You can check out both episodes below in PDF google docs form.

3 million, Dear Celestia my life has gone down the drain. a drain which leads to friendship and fun
ReplyDeleteA quick screenwriting lesson. Don't include camera directions. Take out all the JUMP CUT TO: or CUT TO: between every dialogue portion. it's not necessary and will make your screenplays shorter
ReplyDeleteFans create almost anythink that you can imagine, and even things, that you cannot imagine :D
ReplyDeletePerhaps in a year there will be even a Fan-Show lol :)
Less than five hundred to go! Also, first link just takes me straight back here.

ReplyDeleteLuna takeover?
ReplyDeleteI approve.
There's this popular conceit by professional filmmakers that:
ReplyDelete1 page of script = 1 minute of screentime.
When I wrote these screenplays, I took great pains to write ONLY what a production team NEEDED to know; very basic, straightforward, clear-cut minimal stage directions.
And still, these 22-minute episodes translated to 36-page scripts.
I wonder if Lauren Faust had a problem with this?
@Louis
ReplyDeleteMaybe adjust the margins? 1 inch all around 'cause it looks like you've got extra on the left-hand side of the page.

Just going to tell you peoples that I've been working on "My Little Musical" for the past month or so. Hoping to start auditioning process for the voiceover artists soon.
As for this screenplay adaptation, I agree with anon way up there. There's way too much description for a screenplay, and the camera descriptions and inclusions of words such as "we" and "us" is unnecessary. Still; cool to see that someponies are doing things like this!
Here's a real script from Foster's for comparison: http://www.cmsquared.net/Resources/AffairWeather2ndDraft.pdf
ReplyDeleteI'd like to offer a special word of thanks to the guy who linked the Foster's script.
ReplyDeleteYou've just helped me out more than you know.
