ReplyDeleteSome people don't know how to use spoiler alerts.
I hated Gilda initially. But the fanfic on her has really redeemed her in my eyes. Hopefully she gets a canon character resurrection and doesn't stay a minor bitch character.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to see a character redeemed, even if it's not canon. Good story.
ReplyDelete@Display Name Nah. I've even mentioend this before in my replies to comments on Recursion. The story is fully written, but the folks I asked to edit it are taking their time, so I've been releasing 2 chapters a week.
ReplyDeleteAs for everypony else, thank you. There was some concern I didn't quite nail Pinky as solidly as I would have liked, but I have a soft spot for Gilda. Probably because I see her less as an unrepetant bully, and more as a frustrated teenager lashing out at the world. Sometimes it's a hard lessong when you realize exactly what consequences your actions have had, y'know?
@Polecat
ReplyDeleteI think you hit Pinkie Pie perfectly. She isn't bound to the laws of physics like everypony else, and i think this is a task she would certainly undertake after Gilda's party.
Five stars!
I feel like I always get critical when it comes to Gilda stories...
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, my only two "issues" with this are that you establish that Gilda has a lot of anger, but you don't really go into why.
The other thing is that other than her ability to get everywhere she can't, Pinkie seemed very subdued in this story.
That aside this was nice refreshing read and I especially liked the stuff with Gilda looking through her old year book.
@Pacce
ReplyDeleteYou're correct, I didn't go into the "why" of Gilda being angry, and that was a conscious decision. I wanted to root it in the events we knew about, not events unseen that may have developed her in that way.
As for pinky, you're right. I tried to capture some of it, but trying to stay that hyper is just difficult to me.
Yay, Gilda is back again
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing it, Polecat :)
Btw, is this the first first-person Gilda story on EQD? I can't recall any others
@Fast and Free
ReplyDeleteI think so, but don't know for sure. There aren't a lot of 1st person stories here at all, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was. Glad you liked it.
Cool story, I can definitely see Pinkie doing something like that for Gilda. She's got that Goku or Luffy like quality to her where she could turn the worst of enemies to friends or at least frienemies. In eccense Pinkie's just too nice to hold any type of grudge for long.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind seeing something like that in the show whenever they decide to bring back Gilda
So say we all, but let's not lose touch with reality... We are never gonna see Gilda redeem herself, or even appear in the background ;(
ReplyDeleteI need a second chapter to this. :P
ReplyDeleteQuite good. You handled both characters well. I consider the party scene in "Griffon the Brush Off" to be Pinkie's finest moment in the series, and I felt your version of her was true to that.
