• RainbowDash.net Split and Contest

    Rainbowdash.net is splitting up into two websites.  One will be devoted to Roleplaying, and the other for normal twitter-style micro blogging.

    For the RP side, they are looking to the community for a banner design.  It should be roughly the same size as the current one, and saved as a transparent .png.

    If you are interested in tossing a banner into the mix, you can send your submissions to webmaster@rainbowdash.net

    The deadline is May 11th, so you have some time!

      It's exactly how you described it.

      To be honest, this split will be FOR THE BETTER; now people who have issues with roleplayers won't see them clutter up the stream of tweets. Also we won't need to keep seeing that dreaded #ooc tag. :)

      Agreed. The RPers entertain me most of the time but I don't actually do it myself and lately it's gotten hard to follow along with.

      You know what's also hilarious? Everyone on Rainbow Dash Network, so far, is okay with this. It's like this mutual agreement like, "Yeah, we were kind of filling up the stream weren't we? Okay, I guess we could have our own thing..."

      No arguing. No slashing out at people like "RPfriends" or "RLfriends". No complaints or anything. FANDOM, WHY DO YOU AMAZE ME SO MUCH?!

      Honestly, I think the server issue is one of the main reasons the site is splitting to begin with. It was never intended for RP, but it's more or less making the site go slower with so much of it.

      But with the roleplayers going to a subsite and MORE people coming to the main site AND the subsite... I'm worried that the servers can't take ALL OF THE BRONY it's going to be handed to it. Well, there will be influxes in traffic at certain times of them day, but before this announcement, all of the traffic either dies down at 1:00 to 3:30 Pacific Military time.

      Welp, I guess we'll get to that bridge when we cross it more.

      What RBD.net need is live-updates without having to spam re-fresh/load.
      A better server could deal that, but it's still a matter of paying for service.

      I should be used to the RP. It's nearly identical to chat room RP with a room full of mobs.
