I agree with the first anon. If you're a regular listener to The Offspring, this sounds a tad strange. I guess I could see that voice coming from Dash, but it's a stretch. Still, I love The Offspring and I love ponies, so this is alright by my book.
Ashleigh Ball needs to make a cover of this song, then it'll be genuine. Did anyone else start listening to Hey Ocean! purely because of her being a VA for MLP?
Hmm...The voice is actually pretty close to what Dash would sound like, but I can't place just what's wrong about it...I think it's a bit nasally. Either way, surprisingly close.
Augh, the voice hurts my ears. Doesn't work for me at all.
Am I the only one getting tired of every damn video using the rainboom sequence? I mean, I know it's the most epic scene ever in the show, and I don't object to it when really appropriate -- like in that Firework video -- but it seems kinda lazy given that it otherwise doesn't really ever match the lyrics or anything. It's just filling time.
Huh, well the general concensus seems to be that it doesn't really work, but I personally can't stop replaying this. My first thought was that Dash isn't singing, but is using the song as training music -- I think it works really well from that angle.
She should be firing a six-shooter at the ground around Scootaloo while she says it, too. Or just holding it if you aren't a fan of comedic Scootabuse.
I felt the end of the video got a little on the lazy side, the scene transitions were awesome in the beginning, but then it just stuck to the rainboom part, other then that though it gets a thumbs up :P
hmm... I don't really hear the similarity. The Offspring pitched and sped up just makes them sound like chipmunks. Dash, on the other hand, has always had more of a husky sounding voice to me.
So overall, I don't think the pairing really works. That said, I love the Offspring, and this song DOES kick flank.
That little pitch tweak really does make it sound like Dash! Hilariously awesome! Although, it kinda messes with the music a little being high-pitched. Everything seems faster too. And now I'm fussing in Audacity even though I have no clue what I'm doing..
I watched this PMV months ago and found it again. First time hearing the song too X3 When I heard the original ver., it sounded slow. I guess first impressions do make a difference lol

All in all I think I like it... and it does sorta sound like Dash
being an actual listener to The Offspring, I can't get over how weird this version sounds

ReplyDelete@Anonymous Agreed, though it fits nicely.

Was NOT expecting this (and with this fandom I expect almost anything).
ReplyDeleteLove that song, and this is...worthy, I suppose.
I always enjoy that song when it comes on the radio, so 2 hooves up from me.
ReplyDeleteBeing an actual listener of the offspring, I can't believe I find it better than the original.
ReplyDeleteI like both the higher pitch and higher speed.
Weird.
Sooo awesoooome!

ReplyDeleteStill nicely done.
I'm not sure why, but I've always loved the line "Dance, f*cker, dance". This just makes it better. Two thumbs, way up!
ReplyDeleteGod I fucking hate The Offspring. I can't even listen to this because it reminds me of how much I fucking hate them.
ReplyDeleteOffspring are pretty bomb, but this pitch change just... oh my...
ReplyDeleteI disliked it but then added it to my favorites. :I
I'm sorry but The Helium Offspring just doesn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteIf I was any good at making these I would make one for "She's a Rainbow" by Rolling Stones because... well I think it's obvious.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty weird. It kinda sounds similiar to Dash but then again it's different. Mixed feelings here.
ReplyDeleteThe song itself is awesome tho.
@Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteI don't get it, why does "She's a Rainbow" fit Rainbow Dash?

ReplyDeleteI thought the exact same thing when I saw that.
@Display Name
ReplyDelete...because Rainbow Dash is a rainbow.
I love the Offspring, and this version sounds awesome when put in the context of MlP.
ReplyDeleteThe video was a bit dull, but they can't all be winners.

You're
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Rainbow Dash...if she's singing in the shower after sucking down half a liter of unfiltered helium, maybe.
ReplyDelete...actually, that mental image is making this more awesome. Wow.
Mine as well post the actual song seeing as it's one of my favorites.

ReplyDeleteSo this isn't actually to bad....interesting fit of the offspring and dash.
ReplyDeleteLets get more Offspring MLP mashups going.
Hmmm it kinda sounds like Dash, but like someone put it, sounds a bit more nasally.
ReplyDeleteI like it
It alternates between sounding like Dash and sounding like a chipmunk.
ReplyDeleteThough I find myself wishing that Dash moved that quickly in her flight scenes on the show.
@Aquaman52
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, if a drawfriend would make this...
<3
Man, I need to fix my volume to hear this. Looking at all theses comments makes me wanna fix it faster. xD I love this song.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, not a fan of the video. But the the song kicked all kinda flank, so it balances out.
ReplyDeleteThis is just barely related but is it just me or does this song fit Twilight Sparkle from The Severing almost perfectly?
ReplyDeleteYou know, I slightly approve of the pitch change, but not so much the speed up.
ReplyDeleteBut, I really want to hear Dash say "Dance, fucker, dance!" now.

ReplyDeleteI can't stop listening to this!

Good job!
This had pros and cons for me, but one thought stands out above all others.
ReplyDeleteIf any pony is going to be dropping the f bomb, it's Rainbow Dash. Well played.
So, Rainbow Dash is the new Chipmunks now? Hm...

Never heard the original song and can't stop listening to this one! Sounds like Dash >.>

Way to go bronie!
so awesome, dash is cool
