- Pinkie confirmed for being (canonically) completely batshit insane - More PinkieDash shipping fuel (face-sitting? hello.) - Rarity still best pony ever
I actually was pretty surprised to see Pinkie Pie keeping up with Rainbow Dash. It's one thing to have her cartoon-teleport around, but another thing entirely to actually see her running with her own pink contrail.
Rainbow Dash obviously wasn't going as fast as she possibly could since there weren't any rainbooms, but it does seem that a pissed-off Pinkie is quick enough to keep up with a fleeing Rainbow Dash on hoof. Though it was also surprising to see Fluttershy taking off at the same speed as Rainbow Dash too... guess she's not as weak a flier as she used to be.
Pinkie isn't faster, or more magical, or whatever *in* the world of Equestria. She's a normal earth pony. It's just that reality bends to accomodate her, including the extra dimensions of in-a-cartoon space. None of the other ponies ever understand how she seems to find everything, be everywhere etc. We know it's because she's in a cartoon. Pinkie pie herself, probably doesn't understand even though she is aware of the existence of things like framing and transitions.
I think neurotic paranoid pinkie is perfectly within her character as well.
That hyperactivity can backfire really fast, and when she absolutely lives for her friends like that, the fear of being hated by them probably would drive her mad.
Continuity in another episode? FREAK YES. Indestructible balloons? FREAK YES I'D TRADE MY PS3 AND WII FOR THEM RIGHT NOW.
Though actually I was hoping Pinkamena would go on a violent rage and pop them all and slap everypony around a bit... Still. Epic level Pinkie episode once it gets to speed. Kinda reminds me a little of Stare Master in pacing, come to think of it.
Was anyone else humming the Mission Impossible theme?
When Pinkie snapped, I was seriously freaked out. If I had a Twilight plushie, I'd be squeezing the crap out of it now. "Protect me Twilight, Pinkie's gone crazy!"
>Insane Pinkie is canon >PinkieDash was heavily implied >Gummy is a badass dancer (requesting gif of his dancing) >Good episode was good
I'm still waiting for Spike to... develop some more. I was hoping he'd be on that track from the last episode, but I guess it was in vain. Hopefully he gets more episodes next season.
That was semi-disturbing. I liked the episode, but hated how they morphed my favorite happy-go-lucky pony into an insane pony who forces her friends to be friends with her and party all the time or else she becomes crazy as all hell and slowly descends into perpetual madness. :( I am a sad.
In all fairness it probably won't happen that easily again. I mean, she DID learn the lesson of the episode, and for once characters that learn a lesson tent to remember said lesson after the episode.
@McPumpkin I don't think it was so much that nobody wanted to party with her. She was upset that someponies were skipping out at first, but didn't let it get her down. It wasn't until she started thinking they didn't like her anymore did she snap. As mentioned before, someone like Pinkie losing all her friends would be a pretty hard blow to her psyche.
We've seen all the other ponies show various neurosis so far, but Pinkie's is by far the most dramatic. TS cracks under pressure, RD has a crippling inferiority complex, Rarity is a distressed perfectionist, AJ has worked herself to hallucinations and collapse because of pride, and Fluttershy... well, she's Fluttershy.
What I learned from the episode... -Even Pinkie Pie has limits. -She DOES NOT throw parties everyday as this suggests that this is her first back to back party. -Pinkie can ear drop, but fails stealth. -Her hair is proportional to her happiness. -Her birthday is after Gummy's. -Pinkie is as fast as Rainbow Dash (possibly faster). -Applejack is a TERRIBLE LIER! -Rarity would mess herself up if it'll help her.
@Timey Wimey Part of me thinks that Spike honestly didn't know about the party. TS probably didn't tell him about it until the last minute so that he wouldn't accidentally blab. He is a little kid, after all.
I just want to put this out there too. What if the whole reason Pinkie acts the way she does is because these are her first real friends?
Like, she knows everyone and does parties all the time but really nobody actually wants to spend time with her. Then her actual real friends suddenly lie to her and avoid her.
I'm sure I'm reading too much into this but it'd be interesting...
That said, anyone else keep seeing Rover Dangerfield when her eyes went in opposite directions?
@Adrian Brony I don't think AJ ever actually lied. At least not directly... maybe more like lying through omission.
She was picking apples that day, RD did bring 'supplies' (though never specified what kind), and there was 'construction' going on (getting the party set up). She wasn't telling the whole truth, but she wasn't lying either.
That low, low quality youtube link is... low quality!
I refuse to watch it until something of (somewhat) better quality appears. Which means, as always, I'll just have to wait until some time at night to watch it. Confound these ponies! They force me to be patient!
So, I'm not wearing my slash goggles, but what was up with pinkie asking twilight "you sure you don't wanna stay? there's still some cake left" when it was late at night after the party.
I really don't like looking for shipping fuel in episodes but I couldn't unsee that.
Bleh, I hate how they wait till Mondays to upload the high quality episodes to iTunes. Still it's odd that no one uploads HD episodes straight from TV; I know the Hub broadcasts in HD yet all we get are low quality YouTube uploads.
My favorite part was where Spike out-Pinkied Pinky Pie. Telling stories utterly irrelevant to what an interrogator wants to know is definitely Pinkie Pie territory, and Spike managed to knock it out of the park. Of course, I think Spike really didn't know anything about the surprise party, so that helped.
Where the party planners goofed up was that they failed to assign one of their own to keep Pinky distracted. If they had done that, Pinky likely wouldn't have flipped out.
And finally, not only did Pinky's hair straighten out when she flipped, but her coat turned a darker, more subdued shade as well. Nice effect.
@Breakfast Well, she was apparently singing that song at the same time to each of the ponies. I imagine that simultaneously existing in five different places would wear a pony out. [/facetious]
Never misjudge an enemy for a friend. I once made that mistake when I tried to make some friends, never more. I was once mad like Pinkie, except it's for what's really happened. This episode does teach a valuable lesson, that if you have friends, do treat them nicely, otherwise they'd end up being a psyco Pinky Pie.
In other words, assume the worst from your enemies, they always deliver. ALWAYS.
I loved this episode, but I felt so awful when Pinkie thought that her friends had abandoned her (love the hair though). And wow, twice now she's shown how fast she is.
@Anonymous Now for episode discussion! (btw, same guy as Anon @ April 29, 2011 12:51 PM) Well even though I can guessed the plot already. But somehow it just feels better to see Pinkie happy again . . .
Btw, Pinkie Pie, now with Portals. More randomness assures.
Fluttershy sure is flying a lot now (even though Spike says she's still afraid of heights).
I like the twist they put on the "surprise party" premise. That is, what happens when you try to keep a surprise from perceptive, 4th wall-bending Pinkie? All kinds of stuff.
Also, it's hilarious when Rainbow Dash walks past Pinkie-in-disguise and goes "Hey, Pinkie...Oshi--"
@Kurogo That... actually... makes a lot of sense, not to mention she was obviously doing something in transit to change costumes. Ok, I stand placated with that explanation.
Pinkie Pie is so creepy!! It was amazing! As much as I don't really WANT Pinkie to be sad, I do hope we get to see more of creepy-losing-her-mind Pinkie Pie because that was really cool. Her hair changes back to straight whenever she's sad!
Oh wow, that was great, simply great. I think that's turned out to be one of my favourites. From Haybob Squarepants to Spike's mirror scene, it was chock full of laughs, and it had a grand motto at the end of it. That episode was an exemplar of what this show is all about.
if i worked that hard for parties and my friends didnt show up to them i would go crazy too. its kinda understandable to go crazy when you have been told(by a talking baby dragon)that everyone hates you.
This was by far my favorite episode and I watched it in the shittiest quality. All I can say is don't mess with pinkie and her parties or she will string your pony intestines as streamers.
I almost cried when I saw the poofiness go out of Pinkie's hair... :'(
Also, Pinkie's birthday is one day after Gummy's? There has to be a backstory here! Pinkie must have received Gummy as a birthday present just after he hatched!
Watched the live stream, and the youtube copy of the live stream. Can't wait till a better quality versions hows up so I can watch it a 3rd time, and a HQ quality version shows up so I can watch it a 4th time. Then watch the HQ version a second time making it the 5th time seen the episode, within a week.
To much of a good thing, is still a good thing, as long as it's Pinky Pie.
Oh, hey, something else this episode revealed with the birthday cake; they read and write in English! Granted it's only because the show is American/Canadian but you get my point.
1-- I half-called this episode's plot (I thought she was throwing her own surprise party and they didn't RSVP because they wanted to make it a surprise), but it was crazy awesome. I loved it!
2-- SINCE TODAY IS APRIL 29TH, THE DAY THE EPISODE AIRED, TODAY IS PINKIE PIE'S BIRTHDAY.
Consequentially, this means Pinkie Pie and I have the same birthday. DAMN that's awesome!
Sonly sometimes. Other times they have been seen writing in some form of glyphic alphabet, mostly found on formal applications, however.
Perhaps the glyphic alphabet is older, but the english alphabet is much easier to write, so when they only use the glyphic alphabet for formal applications these days.
Bah, I say. I see people talking about being scared of Pinkie, but I don't see it. She was definitely going bonkers, but she'd never be a danger to anypony.
Did anyone pick up how the episode would repeatedly and seemingly very systematically break the traditional "rule-of-threes", stretching out a few scenes/gags more than it perhaps should have?
Consider the four "this afternoon-this afternoon?"s, the four times PP startles RD, the four phases of Spike's interrogation, or the four individual make-believe-friend introductions. Do you think they could have worked as three-parters?
What little criticism I have for the very solid episode would have to be directed at the pacing in general. I felt the first half just couldn't measure up to the concentrated Pinkie Pie of the second.
There is absolutely zero difference between the standard and 720p versions of this video... it's a straight RCA rip, it will be poor quality regardless of what resolution it's encoded at.
@Anonymous Correct. "...girly, fru-fru nonsense." But we're talking about super-macho, 210% testosterone Gummy here. He didn't have a single pin-the-tail-on-the-pony game at either party. I mean, did you see how he went after that balloon? That's aaaalll male-alligator there.
Intrestingly consider this; Pinkie's Element is Laughter, Apple Jack's Honesty. Just by telling the truth in a misleading manner was very uncomfortable for her (As a previous poster pointed out nothing she said was actually a lie). But for Pinkie being striped of that which makes her happy is actually crippling to the point of genuine insanity. Believing that her special talent was not just unappreciated but a failure and that her friends had deserted her she *nothing* left to Laugh about, it broke her as shown by here partial but twised reversion to what she once was. What would denial of nature do to other Pony? Looking at Luna/Nighmare Moon be an example of what could happen would Pinkie Pie become Cupcake if her talent/nature remained unappreciated, even if only in her own perception?
BWAHAHA Pinky Pie Hiding in the gong and scaring RD, I laughed so hard I have no idea what she said. Great episode! Seeing ponies slink surreptitiously is always super too!
@Madfish Nice analysis, this brings up some interesting points about how ponies need their abilities to be recognized, such as when Rarity was angry in "Green isn't your color" and became a recluse in "The art of the dress" because her talent was rejected.

Sad Pinkie, nuuuuuuuu T_T
ReplyDeleteOk. Pinkie went mad ;) its crazy.
ReplyDeleteOH NO! SPOILERS!
ReplyDeleteNow where I can see it? x_x
And then she lost her mind
ReplyDeletethis terrifies me.
ReplyDeleteRainbow, those are rocks.
ReplyDeleteSo. Freaking. Funny.
ReplyDeletePinkie's perspective is a frightening place. For a moment, it reminded me of the Witch mazes from Puella Magi.
ReplyDelete*shiver*
Wow, that was actually kind of scary... this episode fuels all those fics that depict Pinkie as being neurotic.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll admit it. Pinkie Pie is the best pony. You Pinkie people were right all along.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best episode in my opinion so far by a long shot. I'm just one person, but it went above and beyond what I expected.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that was so cool! Schizophrenic Pinkie is the best! Fanfic it!
ReplyDeleteAlso, is it me or is Pinky Pie proven twice now to be faster than rainbow... Sonic Earthpony Boom?
Damn this was a great episode
ReplyDeletefull of a bunch of great caps too! I cant wait to see all the OC flowing around on ponychan :D
CUPCAKES CONFIRMED FOR CANON
ReplyDeleteReally liked this one, had me laughing out loud during the creepy inanimate object party. Makes up for the meh Owl episode of last week.
ReplyDeleteCreepy Pinkie is creepy, Great ep!
ReplyDeleteSo, let's see:
ReplyDelete- Pinkie confirmed for being (canonically) completely batshit insane
- More PinkieDash shipping fuel (face-sitting? hello.)
- Rarity still best pony ever
yup, that about covers it.
Amazing episode!
ReplyDeleteGood Celestia, this is going to make for a long session with my psychologist.
ReplyDeletex()~
Guys I think, we just got a glimpse into Alternateuniverse!Pinkie where the Sonic rain boom never happens
ReplyDelete>MFW Dash said 'come with me' while doing...that
ReplyDeleteHoly shit we need an Amesia crossover fanfic naow!
ReplyDeleteI actually was pretty surprised to see Pinkie Pie keeping up with Rainbow Dash. It's one thing to have her cartoon-teleport around, but another thing entirely to actually see her running with her own pink contrail.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash obviously wasn't going as fast as she possibly could since there weren't any rainbooms, but it does seem that a pissed-off Pinkie is quick enough to keep up with a fleeing Rainbow Dash on hoof.
ReplyDeleteCelestia-tier episode, no doubt about it. The chase scene with Rainbow Dash was absolutely golden.
ReplyDeleteAnd Pinkie Pie is also the scariest thing ever.
I think neurotic paranoid pinkie is perfectly within her character as well.
ReplyDeleteThat hyperactivity can backfire really fast, and when she absolutely lives for her friends like that, the fear of being hated by them probably would drive her mad.
Man, I loved this episode. Psycho Pinkie was hilarious in GIYC and she was hilarious in this.
ReplyDelete=(
ReplyDelete>>mfw I missed the stream due to School.
C'mom Youtubers, this episode seems sooo epic!
@Sethisto
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain... Freaking cupcakes...
Great episode. I laughed so hard at Pinkie's epic derp face when she cracked, lol.
ReplyDeleteI can hear the keyboards revving up for psycho Pinkie fanfics.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as Pinkie lost it I saw the events of cupcakes happen.
ReplyDelete@Adrian Brony
ReplyDeleteProbably? It -did- drive her mad. Of course, she was halfway there to begin with...
Continuity in another episode? FREAK YES.
ReplyDeleteIndestructible balloons? FREAK YES I'D TRADE MY PS3 AND WII FOR THEM RIGHT NOW.
Though actually I was hoping Pinkamena would go on a violent rage and pop them all and slap everypony around a bit... Still. Epic level Pinkie episode once it gets to speed. Kinda reminds me a little of Stare Master in pacing, come to think of it.
Anyway, I want Gummy's job.
Was anyone else humming the Mission Impossible theme?
ReplyDeleteWhen Pinkie snapped, I was seriously freaked out.
If I had a Twilight plushie, I'd be squeezing the crap out of it now.
"Protect me Twilight, Pinkie's gone crazy!"
Dang that episode was funny. Sad Pinkie kinda made me baww inside. What happened to her hair...
ReplyDelete"It was like all the happiness had gone from the world."
Interesting how much she goes off the deep-end.
My favorite episode so far. X3
ReplyDeleteMan, when Pinkie loses it, she sure freakin' loses it. I was laughing the whole time during her entire "talk through non-living objects" thing.
This episode probably had the most derp eyes ever shown. And they were all by Pinkie Pie XD
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteSilly anon, that's not how you spell PINKIE-tier episode.
So
ReplyDelete>Insane Pinkie is canon
>PinkieDash was heavily implied
>Gummy is a badass dancer (requesting gif of his dancing)
>Good episode was good
I'm still waiting for Spike to... develop some more. I was hoping he'd be on that track from the last episode, but I guess it was in vain. Hopefully he gets more episodes next season.

ReplyDeletein the next episode the 4th wall breaks forever and pinkie will be free...
ReplyDeleteSpike proves why torture never works...
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis blog keeps eating my comments.
Silly anon, that's not how you say "Pinkie-Tier" Episode!
Oh no, I missed it :<
ReplyDeleteIs there gonna be a re-stream like last week?
We'll always be friends and never leave each other.
ReplyDeleteFOREVER.
So Pinkie Pie hears voices in her head... who else isn't surprised?
ReplyDeleteThat was scary as hell, but equally gut-busting.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my favorite episode.
Holy shit we need an Amnesia crossover fanfic naow!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeletehow was pinkiedash implied? did I miss something?
This blog. Eats my comments.
ReplyDeleteSilly anon at 11:08, that's not how you spell "Pinkie-Tier" Episode!
@Adrian it's because of how Pinkie face-sat dash at one point
ReplyDelete@Adrian Brony If you missed something, then I did too cause I didn't see any pinkiedash implied or otherwise.
ReplyDelete@McPumpkin
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness it probably won't happen that easily again. I mean, she DID learn the lesson of the episode, and for once characters that learn a lesson tent to remember said lesson after the episode.
Was anypony else reminded of "Dinner for One" during that one scene?
ReplyDelete@Kurogo It's kinda like what I say to certain people in certain situations... "You had better be able to run faster scared than I can pissed off."
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie confirmed for insanity!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I object to having that picture be on this discussion! That is some serious spoiler just out in the open!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteuhh, well for one she sat on the back of her head, and two she did it to try to make dash go away, lol.
kind of reading into it a bit too much there.
@Mikazuchi
ReplyDeleteYo.
@McPumpkin
I don't think it was so much that nobody wanted to party with her. She was upset that someponies were skipping out at first, but didn't let it get her down.
Spike's interrogation was the funniest scene for me. To his credit, he doesn't give the game away.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of bronies say that the newest episode is their favorite
but I haven't said that since Green, and it is still my favorite.
But this one comes... SO close... my god it is fantastic.
I...kinda had a feeling of Deja Vu...
ReplyDeleteAnyone played Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Warrior Within?
The change from light and cheerful to dark-psychotic gritty made me cringe in fear.
Pinkie Pie is definetely my favourite pony.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWell applejack IS the element of honesty, so of course when she DOES lie it is unnatural and awkward for her, lol.
@Timey Wimey
ReplyDeletePart of me thinks that Spike honestly didn't know about the party. TS probably didn't tell him about it until the last minute so that he wouldn't accidentally blab. He is a little kid, after all.
ahh psycho Pinkie burned into my mind FOREVER
ReplyDeletepretty awesome ep. Better review once I see it a few more times. Gives me so much to make videos out of. YAY!
This one made me so sad. I mean even with the happy ending just seeing pinkie so.... Well sad she became insane for a wile and a bit mean is just wow.
ReplyDelete@Marrock
ReplyDeletehmmmm i know that greed is faster than fear but maybe anger is slightly slower than fear
I wish they would stop making the "cupcakes" version of pinkie pie seem so potentially cannon, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteHere is the LLQ Youtube Upload!

DAMN PINKIE, YOU SCARY!
ReplyDeleteWithout having seen the episode yet:

ReplyDelete@Lovecraft
ReplyDeleteSeriously. I can just hear her sanity cracking.
I can't imagine what the next Drawfriend will be like after this...
ReplyDeleteThat low, low quality youtube link is... low quality!

ReplyDeleteI really don't like looking for shipping fuel in episodes but I couldn't unsee that.
Kinda mad I won't be able to watch this until later.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is coming from someone who, a week ago, was like "Pff, My Little Pony. What? You gotta be kidding me."
Confound these ponies, indeed.
Watching Pinkie's descent into insanity was pretty great. She doesn't party because she wants to, she needs to party.
ReplyDeleteAnother good thing about this episode was is was full of tactical friendship action. Applebloom has some competition.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuJqQMEbQD0
ReplyDeleteeverypony in solid snake mode yay¡¡¡ and a bucket of turnips is awesome and insane sad pinkie is awesome too damn the whole episode was awesome
ReplyDeleteSigh, after today, it'll only be one more week of pony before a several-month long hiatus. I'm sad...
ReplyDeleteLucky for me, this show has a tendency of replacing every bit of sorrow in my body with pure joy.
Bleh, I hate how they wait till Mondays to upload the high quality episodes to iTunes. Still it's odd that no one uploads HD episodes straight from TV; I know the Hub broadcasts in HD yet all we get are low quality YouTube uploads.

>mfw Rainbow Dash and AppleJack hide in the barn.
ReplyDeleteOh what ever could they be doing in the barn.
At the beginning... did Pinkie Pie actually run out of stamina? The world must be ending!
ReplyDelete@Breakfast
ReplyDeleteWell, she was apparently singing that song at the same time to each of the ponies. I imagine that simultaneously existing in five different places would wear a pony out. [/facetious]
OH WHAT
ReplyDeleteEpisode with Pinkie Pie's birthday...
On my own birthday.
BEST DAY EVAR
Never misjudge an enemy for a friend. I once made that mistake when I tried to make some friends, never more. I was once mad like Pinkie, except it's for what's really happened.

@Anonymous Now for episode discussion! (btw, same guy as Anon @ April 29, 2011 12:51 PM)
ReplyDeleteWell even though I can guessed the plot already. But somehow it just feels better to see Pinkie happy again . . .
Btw, Pinkie Pie, now with Portals. More randomness assures.
Fluttershy sure is flying a lot now (even though Spike says she's still afraid of heights).
ReplyDeleteI like the twist they put on the "surprise party" premise. That is, what happens when you try to keep a surprise from perceptive, 4th wall-bending Pinkie? All kinds of stuff.
Also, it's hilarious when Rainbow Dash walks past Pinkie-in-disguise and goes "Hey, Pinkie...Oshi--"

ReplyDeleteTHIS had made me LMAO
@Kurogo
ReplyDeleteThat... actually... makes a lot of sense, not to mention she was obviously doing something in transit to change costumes. Ok, I stand placated with that explanation.

ReplyDeleteAccurately describes Pinkie
Oh man insane pinkie pie was the best :D
ReplyDeleteBronies, let us not forget the most important piece of information that has come out of today's episode: Pinkie Pie's birthday is April 29th.
ReplyDeleteNow we not only have Derpy Hooves day, but Pinkie's Birthday to celebrate!
I love the part where RD says "Oh look at the time" and just draws a watch on her front leg.
ReplyDeleteDefinetly a very good episode, but only one more to go :(
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteSame Annon here, since the posts don't have an edit feature:
Or would that mean her B-day is the 30th since the episode spans 2 days time? ... Help me out here!

ReplyDeleteThis might be the begining. No. No this is a difference, not a begining.
ReplyDeleteLoved this episode, but now I truly think they based Pinkie Pie off of myself. It's... uncanny the resemblances.
ReplyDeleteoh ponies, when are they going to stop saying "soon" around pinkie pie. lol
ReplyDeleteConfound these Ponies! They drive me to joy!
ReplyDeleteBEST EPISODE EVER
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie is so creepy!! It was amazing! As much as I don't really WANT Pinkie to be sad, I do hope we get to see more of creepy-losing-her-mind Pinkie Pie because that was really cool. Her hair changes back to straight whenever she's sad!
ReplyDeletewow nope.avi applejack is now canon
ReplyDeleteGreatest episode of all time, obviously. Especially for the grimdark fans.
ReplyDelete>mfw cupcakes is now canon
Haven't finished the episode yet, but I love the fact that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are running off together. Fucking Flutterdash.
ReplyDeleteAnyone found a video with subtitles?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that was great, simply great. I think that's turned out to be one of my favourites. From Haybob Squarepants to Spike's mirror scene, it was chock full of laughs, and it had a grand motto at the end of it. That episode was an exemplar of what this show is all about.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff!
So I put the two birthdays on the Pony Holiday list:

>mfw best episode EVAR
if i worked that hard for parties and my friends didnt show up to them i would go crazy too. its kinda understandable to go crazy when you have been told(by a talking baby dragon)that everyone hates you.
ReplyDeleteAre there nope.avi gifs yet?
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or is Pinkie Pie adorable with straight hair?
ReplyDeleteAll the while I thinking "yup, this is how Cupcakes start".
ReplyDeleteIt's not just you, she is so adorable with straight hair.
ReplyDeleteThis episode will be the best episode FOREVEEER!!!
I have a feeling that Pinkie's voice actor had fun with her crazy scene
ReplyDelete/r/ing hd download, like now
ReplyDeleteThis episode was awesome
This was by far my favorite episode and I watched it in the shittiest quality. All I can say is don't mess with pinkie and her parties or she will string your pony intestines as streamers.
ReplyDeletei guess pinkie recieved newborn gummy at her birthday
ReplyDeleteI almost cried when I saw the poofiness go out of Pinkie's hair... :'(
ReplyDeleteAlso, Pinkie's birthday is one day after Gummy's? There has to be a backstory here! Pinkie must have received Gummy as a birthday present just after he hatched!
What is this I don't even
ReplyDeletePinkie Gear Solid!
ReplyDeleteevery one in ponyville were *this* close to becoming cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI knew pinkie pie was crazy, but not that crazy. Awesome episode!
ReplyDeleteThat episode for the most part left me feeling more uncomfortable than entertained
ReplyDeleteWatched the live stream, and the youtube copy of the live stream. Can't wait till a better quality versions hows up so I can watch it a 3rd time, and a HQ quality version shows up so I can watch it a 4th time. Then watch the HQ version a second time making it the 5th time seen the episode, within a week.
ReplyDeleteTo much of a good thing, is still a good thing, as long as it's Pinky Pie.
SO DICKING GOOD.
ReplyDeleteBatshit Pinkie is now most defiantly canon.
Needs a hq stream though, get on it bronies.
I like pinkie pie with her hair long :) it's pretty, but crazy/emo pinkie pie scares me a litte ;A;
ReplyDeleteOh, hey, something else this episode revealed with the birthday cake; they read and write in English! Granted it's only because the show is American/Canadian but you get my point.
ReplyDeleteEverypony, guess what?
ReplyDelete1-- I half-called this episode's plot (I thought she was throwing her own surprise party and they didn't RSVP because they wanted to make it a surprise), but it was crazy awesome. I loved it!
2-- SINCE TODAY IS APRIL 29TH, THE DAY THE EPISODE AIRED, TODAY IS PINKIE PIE'S BIRTHDAY.
Consequentially, this means Pinkie Pie and I have the same birthday. DAMN that's awesome!
@Batty Gloom
ReplyDeleteSonly sometimes.
ReplyDeletePinkie Pie when she wants to be in disguise, tries her best to hide out in the open without being obvious.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, this entire episode was just reactionimage.jpg
ReplyDeleteCupcakes Pinkie confirmed for canon. Hell, I was thinking that, and then Dash showed up at her door which made it even worse.
Did anyone pick up how the episode would repeatedly and seemingly very systematically break the traditional "rule-of-threes", stretching out a few scenes/gags more than it perhaps should have?
ReplyDeleteConsider the four "this afternoon-this afternoon?"s, the four times PP startles RD, the four phases of Spike's interrogation, or the four individual make-believe-friend introductions. Do you think they could have worked as three-parters?
What little criticism I have for the very solid episode would have to be directed at the pacing in general. I felt the first half just couldn't measure up to the concentrated Pinkie Pie of the second.
I loved it when pinkie's hair was straight!!!
ReplyDeletespike wasn't invited to ANY of the parties
ReplyDelete:(
I love this episode, but now I wish I never read that fic because all I could think of throughout the second half was "Run, Rainbow, run".
ReplyDeleteStill, it was fascinating to Pinkie Pie in such a different mood than her happy-go-lucky self.
@Matugi
ReplyDeleteSpike has previously voiced an aversion to going to girly parties :p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeRRjoEU0sE
ReplyDelete720p, decent quality
I retract my false statement, he was at the second party.
ReplyDeleteWhat I expect. Pinkie's episodies are always so fuc**** amazing!!!!!
ReplyDelete@MyLittleBrony
ReplyDeleteThere is absolutely zero difference between the standard and 720p versions of this video... it's a straight RCA rip, it will be poor quality regardless of what resolution it's encoded at.
Waiting for a decent version
I don't think I will EVER look at Pinkie Pie the same way ever again.
ReplyDeleteIn this episode:
ReplyDeleteCUPCAKES BECOMES REALITY
my thoughts going into this:
"Oh boy, a Pinkie episode! Maybe her happiness and cute puns can keep my mind off of Cupcakes!"
watching episode:
She... I can't believe the writers did this. OMG YES!
In conclusion, Cupcakes is completely plausible now which just adds to the terror that is PINKIE PIE.
Btw, did anyone notice out of EVERYPONY that could have came to get crazy!pinkie, it was Rainbow Dash? Rainbow Dash. Alone. With crazy!pinkie.
NIGHTMARE FUEL
@Anonymous Correct. "...girly, fru-fru nonsense."
ReplyDeleteBut we're talking about super-macho, 210% testosterone Gummy here.
He didn't have a single pin-the-tail-on-the-pony game at either party. I mean, did you see how he went after that balloon? That's aaaalll male-alligator there.
Whats that song that they keep playing on the record? I know I've heard it before but I can't recall what episode.
ReplyDeleteIntrestingly consider this; Pinkie's Element is Laughter, Apple Jack's Honesty.
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHA Pinky Pie Hiding in the gong and scaring RD, I laughed so hard I have no idea what she said. Great episode! Seeing ponies slink surreptitiously is always super too!
ReplyDelete@Madfish Nice analysis, this brings up some interesting points about how ponies need their abilities to be recognized, such as when Rarity was angry in "Green isn't your color" and became a recluse in "The art of the dress" because her talent was rejected.
ReplyDelete@the brony who wanted to know the music
ReplyDeleteIt's from the montage when the CMC try to find out what they're good at from Show Stoppers
