I hope Zorg starts putting out enough of his demoscene-style mixes to warrant a compilation post like this - I really do prefer the sound of classic amiga trackers (and, while unrelated, FM synth too) over NES/GB tunes.
@Lily Surette i will, but it will take more time since recently, almost half of my time goes to studying, which i have a lot of.
also, apart from mlp chiptunes, i do original tracks too once in a while, and those go to my bandcamp, so if the gaps between mlp stuff get too big, you can always check that out. (click name for link) and no, it's not shameless self-promotion since i toil in obscurity, so noone cares :3
One challenge with doing a straight SMB graphics hack is that Mario is comparatively tall and skinny whereas ponies are long and short. I could see something like a pinkie pie standing on her hind legs, but it wouldn't have the same feel.
However it's possible that the rom has been disassembled to the point that making it work with a normal pony wouldn't be as big a deal as I think it would be.. who knows.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you expect me to do with myself in the meantime? *goes back to obsessing over today's Drawfriend post*
I subscribed to this channel. I adore his renditions of all the songs. :3
ReplyDeleteAnd then the bakers baked.
ReplyDeletehow challenging is it to make these 8-bit game styled tracks? What program is used?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of making a flash platformer, and I would like to use 8-bit style tunes in it.
Anonymous, he sequenced this with a Gameboy, or an emulator. Look into Midi cards for the gameboy. (I think that's what they are called)
ReplyDeleteThis one was pretty cool, but to my ears there were a couple off-pitch notes near the end.
