1. She stole my cloak. 3. Look a RAINBOW. 4. DAWWWW factor overload. 5. She has the power. 6. Ditzy must be making a delivery. (I believe Derpy to be a different pony entirely) 7. Hey I'm trying to confess my love here, wait until the "and then they kiss moment". 8. Celestia jumped the shark. 9. Brain freeze eminent. 10. Into the sunset the galloped. 11. If you want her love, get her some poison joke flowers instead. 12. The sexy slowly eating a fruit scene excellent flootershy! Work the camera. 13. Trixie went princess, nows she's powerful. She's not a great friend though. 15. Continue working the camera Flootershy. 16. Colgate thats not how you brush your teeth. 17. FOR-EV-ER... then I'll make cupcakes. 18. she certainly does. 19. She certainly is. 20. Derpy delivers babies, Ponyvilled doesn't need no stinking storks. 21. That's kind of... well it's cute but there's some kind of attraction to it, Go Derpy Go!
#2: The first thing that drew my attention were pony asses. Other than that, does anyone know what this picture is based off of? #5: Oh god yes #12: FFFFFFFFFFFFFluttershy is too damn adorable sometimes. #17: Party Club, moar like #20: Isn't this a repeat? I thought I've seen this on here before...
So much win, there is always so much win. 2 and 7 were great, and 8 is just plain super epic. 12 is adorable, and 21 is SO CUTE! I love all of the drawfriend stuff, it's starting to become hard to think of new ways to say how much I love all the artwork here!
As far as I know, this is based on a movie where the Centaur is the badass villain. It was also the movie where Spike was introduced in the pony franchise.
From a different perspective, Raindow Dash's left forelimb combined with dat ass and the confusing shading makes for some unintentional double entendre . . .
Yay for #2! To the person who asked: The demonic centaur there is Tirac, the villain of "Rescue at Midnight Castle", the first TV appearance of My Little Pony.
#2 is from one of the films, the red centaur used dragons to kidnap ponies and used his "RAINBOW OF DARKNESS!!" to transform them into giant lizard things to pull his chariot of Darkness.
#2: Damn, that's a lot of pony butts! #3: Twilight looks appropriately unamused by Rainbow's antics. #4: Awwwwww! I don't recall ever seeing the Apple parents, even in fan art, before! #7: This is just asking for a story. #10: Friendship is Awesome. #13: Awww, Luna's all grown up! #21: Is... is that a Derpy pin-up? :D
I know most Bronies are too young to remember, but it does sadden me to see so few commenters recognized #2!
Rescue from Midnight Castle was MLP's *first* animated special, and is definitely something you should watch - if only for the infamous 'Shooby dooo' sea pony song. ;-) (I would be very surprised if the song, or a parody of it, doesn't make an appearance at some point, since they've used the original theme in several different ways, and have a penchant for earworms that never go away...;-)
MLP: FiM is clearly a zillion times more awesome than the original series, but the early specials have some very fun moments (Escape from Katrina is the other one), and it really does help to know some of the original stories, since there are in-jokes sprinkled throughout the new one. :)
Lots of awesome stuff... I think ddhew and johnjoseco's stuff are my favorites, but lots of close seconds... that last Derpy in a different style looks great! Also cool Jedi Celestia, the golden lightsaber is a great touch.
Anyway uh, artist for #2 here, I didn't expect such a ruckus here...
@Neverwhere and sun tzu... yeah, I watched it because of the comments on /co/ back in the day. It was surprisingly awesome, but the few other episodes of MLP n' Friends I saw weren't so much... I still gotta check the Katrina one.
@Anonymous commenting on the effect of the confusing shading: oh crap, I was afraid of some kind of confusion like this, but never noticed the problem with the foreleg, specially in the thumbnail. Damn, lol.
@All the plot comments: uh... yeah. There's a companion picture from the front angle, with no plot at all, but almost no Tirek(sp?).
It is from the 'original' My Little Pony pilot from 1986.This was indeed the introduction of Spike; but also of Applejack; who I believe at this moment in the movie, should now be a horrible carriage-drawing monster. (as in horse-drawn carriages, not horse-drawn horse-drawn carriages)
It's kind of a circuitous reference. I was referencing PECOTA from the Dugout, who summons his motorcycle by saying "BIKE! TO ME!" or "TO ME! MY BIKE!" which in itself is really a reference to Silver Surfer. I've never read Silver Surfer, so it's kind of like a game of Telephone.
@latest Anonymous Thanks, really! I know some folks are enjoying, I just didn't want it to make it distasteful for others... the original idea was to have something for everyone (that's how pony talk actually is fun). I noticed lately some excess, and it's no fun if I just shove it on my good bronies' faces and it gets unsettling, you know?
@Anonymous There's a particular scene I saw on YouTube that I want explained. When Tirek gets the shit rainbowed out of him, all the dragony things turn back into ponies, right? So Applejack and a few others are falling from a great height. And then, just before they hit the ground, I swear to god AJ casts Featherfall or something and they all soft-land on their feet. What the hell was that? Or is this just an "I ain't gotta explain shit" moment?
@Anonymous Fortunately, I had it downloaded, and now I checked it a bunch of times. Three earth ponies and an unicorn, they stop in mid-air, and at first they all look completely surprised (Actually AJ spins in place a few times, and doesn't look very pleased...), and then they drop to the ground and are like "Oh OK."
To sum it up... looks like a "I ain't gotta explain shit" to me, if I ever saw one.
