• Discussion: Conventions and Meetups

There are hundreds of anime/video game/ect conventions going on all across that plenty of bronies will probably plan on attending.  Instead of creating 20 different posts, Lets build some correlations right here!

So the topic of discussion this time: In the comments below, drop a convention you plan on attending.  With any luck, we will have multiple people attending specific ones who can meet up and geek out about how tyrannical Celestia is behind the scenes, or the number of freckles on Applejacks face.

Also have some Rainbow Dash Cosplaying as Altaïr....which fits WAY better than it ever should.

    1. I'll be at ACen in Chicago, and I'll have one of them fancy Rainbow Dash pin that Darkly_Cute was making and junk. So hopefully I'll see some of y'all there.

I'll also possibly be at Youmacon in Detroit and Tsubasacon in Huntington, WV. Dunno where else at this point.

Hope to meet up with some of y'all at those places.

    2. Well... I doubt there are gonna be any conventions in Austria. They arn't well known for their geeks or nerds.
But I'd totally go to a convention if it'd be close to me.

    3. There's always My Little Pony Fair, the annual MLP collector's convention in the U.S. This year it's being hosted at the Hasbro headquarters in Rhode Island on July 8th and 9th! (Click my name for the Fair's website)

Hasbro will be heavily involved, offering tours, panels, even fun stuff like a catered lunch and an ice cream social. If ever there was a good opportunity to give Hasbro an earful, it'd be there. The Fair is flooded with an adult demographic already (namely collectors, customizers, etc.), so adult fans of FiM would fit right in. The adult skew would also help in having Hasbro take input and feedback more seriously, since it's not a kid-oriented event.

      Just an idea!

    4. Anypony going to Anime Expo or Comic Con? Both in California.

I'll most likely be cosplaying Fluttershy at Comic Con.

    5. Alright, so every year an Otaku/Anime convention is held at the Baltimore Convention Center, The dates for this year are July 29-31. http://www.otakon.com/ Thousands of people go, and it's one of the largest conventions like this in the US.

This year, I'm going to organize a Brony meetup there, for all the Bronies who are attending. I have yet to decide where and when the meetup will take place, but I will post an update here when I figure that out: http://www.ponychan.net/chan/chat/res/31815.html

I'm also probably going to print out a bunch of stickers and magnets and stuff for the bronies who do show up, just as a little kindness gift.

      Just postin here :3

    10. I might be going to Anime Expo, providing my sister doesn't move before then and I manage to get plane tickets (I don't live in California but Colorado).

But I am going to NanDesuKan in Denver this fall. Anyone else going?

    12. @Anonymous

I shall also be at Acen. No pins though or anything as most of my friends don't watch cartoons anymore, and they don't like when I talk about that stuff : (

However, if I see someone with a pin though, I shall make sure to bring it up with them with a "what show is that?" thing

    23. I can just picture Dash trying to work incognito as the royal family's private assassin.
"So the killer had a rainbow tail! You didn't see her face, did you? There must be lots of blue pegasus ponies with rainbow tails!"

    25. Any Arizona bronies that want to do a meetup? I know you're here Sethisto, but there can't just be two of us...

      ReplyDelete
    26. If we can get a bunch of bronies to go to several specific locations on several specific dates it would be optimal. Otakon and Comicon are good places and portland could work at a decent level if we get enough people.

    37. First of all, wow, another Jimbo! Hey brony!

Secondly, I'm trying to drum up some interest for bronies to meet up this April 17th, at the Los Angeles Comic and Science Fiction Convention. Here's my post on Ponychan about it - http://www.ponychan.net/chan/chat/res/36259.html

It's a pretty small convention, but there's a Denny's, Starbucks, and a food court nearby, so there would be plenty of spots to hang out at!

      cheers

    39. I'm planning to go to PAX near the end of the summer, if any bronies are attending. It's a pretty huge game convention, I'd say, and it's in Seattle. Usually it's in very early September, but if I recall correctly, this year it's in mid-late August.

Also, I was hoping to meet with some bronies this year at Anime Evolution up in Vancouver, but I hear they may not be doing it this summer. If anybrony knows any other cons happening (perhaps in its place) in the Vancovuer area, please mention it.

Any other fellow bronies/furries going to AC, feel free to chime in. I wonder how many of us there are on this site. :)

If I get my costume done I'll be dressed as Gordon Freeman, and I'll have two irl bronies with me who will be dressed as a headcrab zombie and the other will be dressed as John Freeman.

I see that there's already 4 other people who have commented who are planning to go to Fanime. We should try to get a group going on facebook or something to see what bronies are going to be going to it and what they will be dressed as, etc. Shoot me an email if you're interested or whatever: [email protected]

    61. I'm probably the only loner here. There's a popular anime convention here in Mexico, more accurately the north state of Nuevo Leon, in Monterrey. I'll be attending it this november, just in case any mexican brony feels like meeting up there

It's named the 39º CJMC (Convencion de Juegos de Mesa y Comics), in case you wanna look for it. Spanish only though

      ReplyDelete
    62. @Mizukame

Not the only mexican brony, there are plenty of us, but we rarely agree at the same time. Saludos desde Tabasco!

Too bad I´m short of money, I went to the Ecology Congress this week to present my thesis results and I also missed the new chapter (only to watch it today in glorious HD).

Anyway, good luck and wear proudly your Rainbow Dash T-shit, well, if you have one. I´ll be wearing a derpy t-shit hand made by a friend.

      Saludos!!

    67. Somehow, having been an otaku for ages (about ten-plus to be exact) and going to an anime/manga con to geek-out with ponies seems rather odd. Awesome, but odd.
We need some pony-centric cons that occur through-out the year and cater to all demographics/ages/ponies/fairies/dragons/White-hot-intensity Celestia/etc.
Who knows, maybe it'll allow me to find other ponies without having to blast Twilight's "The Elements of Harmony: Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Loyalty, Magic!" as I walk down the street or somewhere else.
True story, I was walking down the street the other day while listening to 'Night of Pony', Twilight said the line, and two younger girls instantly turned around in their driveway looking at me. Didn't say anything, but had an 'OMGPONIEZ' look.
The headphones suck, but they can be pretty loud sometimes.
