That comic is ridiculously adorable. I like the way it was colored outside the lines; it seems childish without being sloppy. I also like how the colors seem a little less vivid than the show; it makes it feel like quieter and more personal, if that makes sense.
I think I agree with Faust that Rainbow Dash wouldn't be a good big sister. Applejack and Rarity are relatively mature, grounded foils to their younger siblings. I think RD is also more mature than Scootaloo (see the end of Cutie Mark Chronicles, where she's okay with the group hug/singalong but Scootaloo complains about it), but not very much and not in such a way that she can act as an effective mentor. Remember how she tried to help Apple Bloom get her cutie mark? Scootaloo would be even more intense and over the top if she'd grown up with that.
RD probably still likes and appreciates Scootaloo, even if it's just basking in the hero worship. She was enthusiastic about telling her cutie mark story, she went backstage to congratulate her after the performance, and asking her to throw out the trash was clearly teasing.
No possible Scootabuse could defeat this comic. Depravity, however strong, eventually reaches a bottom beyond which it can fall no further. Kindness and love have no limits.
there has to be like a comic with dashs thoughts somepony to care for somepony to love somepony like scootaloo and it ends with "ill do anything you say dash"
When Lauren commented that Rainbow Dash somehow wasn't suitable to be a big sister, I commented that I hoped that didn't mean that RD was a potential child abuser. I was not serious, of course. Later on, I did see the "scootabuse" pictures. At first I was amused by the idea, but then the pictures got nastier and nastier. I'm kind of glad to step back from that extreme.
"Basically, Lauren was asked if Scoot, like other two CMC, is related to main cast. She said - no. When someone said why, she answered her vision of Dash would be a very bad sister for younger siblings.
Cue explosion of Scootabuse pics"
I haven't seen many pics of Scootabuse but I've heard the term flying around a fair bit.
This new trend of Scootalove is heartwarming (believe me, I did cry at this comic), but it seems so strange for Scoot to carry her worship of RD this far. Surely she has a family in Ponyville that loves her?
I've been flying around Always looking down at all I see Painted faces, fill the places I can't reach
You know that I could use somepony Somepony like you, and all you know and how you speak
Countless friends under cover of the street You know that I could use somepony, you know that I could use somepony, somepony like you
Off in the night while you live it up I'm off to sleep Waging races to shake the poet and the beat I hope it's gonna make you notice, I hope it's gonna make you notice, Somepony like me, Somepony like me, Somepony like you (somepony)
Glad to see Faust and her Team using the CMCs for something other than all the Cutie-Mark stuff. If they would integrate them more like that into the series I think more people wouldn't dislike them so much. They make very excellent side-characters.
Just finished watching the ep on Youtube before work. As for the comic, Manly Tears were shed. This is just too cute NOT to DAWWWWww over. Scoot is my favorite CMC out of the three.
@Landon Scootabuse is comics or stories that revolve around Dash doing horrible things to Scootaloo. It's based on a comment Lauren Faust posted on her DA account; she responded to a question about whether Scoot was related to Dash since the other two Crusaders are the younger sisters of main cast members, and she said no because Dash "wouldn't be a good big sister" (or words to that effect).
Most people assumed that meant she would just be aloof, or irritated by "the tagalong", but pics started showing up right after that with Dash actually being abusive towards Scoot. They aren't funny or clever, just cruel. Somebody coined the phrase Scootabuse and it stuck. There's been a certain number of people who like to take scootabuse pics and modify them to make them cute instead.
That said, the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode did a lot to dispel the whole notion, since it showed Scoot with some obvious hero worship and Dash being pretty much happy to play into that.
True. I don't think Rainbow Dash minds lending a helping hoof to the CMC every now and then, especially when it caters to her ego.
I think being a sister is a whole other can of worms though, and I agree with Lauren's assessment that Rainbow Dash's personality doesn't quite lend itself to the big sister role.
I really don't get why Faust handed down the the word of god that Dash wasn't Scootaloo's big sister. And then have multiple scenes where the Crusaders stand by their sisters and scoot stands next to dash.
WTF? Will there be some big revelation next semester that there is some sort of connection?
Scootaloo treats Rainbow like a big sister and is in adoration of her and her style of life. Role model would be the term, then again Rainbow Dash isn't a good role model as she sleeps around. And when I mean sleep around I mean in tree's, in clouds and possibly in someone elses bed if she's sick that sort of thing.
@Doctor What Scootalove > Scootabuse. I've always liked Scoot and the CMC. I still can't comprehend the antipathy some people feel for them. Thank you, whoever drew this.
Edit: I've changed this comment twice now! Excuse my OCD.
True, theres a lot of pony abuse going on around here. Thanks for showing me (us) something that puts a smile on my (our) face(s) without poor humor. A smile of warmth and that turns the eye into a living fountain of joy. Women don't have a monopoly on tears; real men cry as do real women. Thanks!
The thing about Scootabuse is that while it does get a lot of sympathy for Scootaloo, it also has a tendency to give Rainbow Dash, an Element of Harmony, the same level of empathy as Frieza! Comics like this go a long way to reverse that.

I hate the Scootabuse; don't find it funny at all.
ReplyDeleteI love this, though. This is adorably epic.

ReplyDeleteFor the whole pony (human) race
Why it's almost like being in love...
Well, that was really sweet.
ReplyDeleteBut I must be ignorant or something, cos I've not run across anything involving Scootaloo being abused in any way as of yet.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself lucky!
This is a simple but powerful comic, I love it very much.
Aaawwwww.... So heartwarming.
ReplyDeleteI like Scootabuse and Scootalove! And this was delicious!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I've seen heads nor tails of this "Scootabuse" nonsense.
I feel I'm missing out, folks.
Scootabuse is only funny because it's VERY UNLIKELY of ever canon-ly happening.
ReplyDeleteThis, however, is all adorable as fuck. <3
To be fair, she totally opens herself up to things like that when she says things like 'I'll do whatever you say' to Dashie.
ReplyDeleteIt's called Scootaffection but Scootalove works too I GUESS.
ReplyDeleteScootaloo, I wish the same.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anyone says, I like Scootaloo...
ReplyDeleteI prefer the term Scootalove as it's closer to the speeling of her name.
ReplyDeleteThat being said: I don't think words like "D'awww!" and "HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGG!" are enough to describe this comic.
That comic is ridiculously adorable. I like the way it was colored outside the lines; it seems childish without being sloppy. I also like how the colors seem a little less vivid than the show; it makes it feel like quieter and more personal, if that makes sense.

ReplyDeleteI personally have no real problem with Scoots, so this was a pretty sweet little comic.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of Scootaloo, especially in the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode, but that was ADORABLE.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one here who likes scootabuse? In a way, doesn't scootabuse invoke more aww/d'aww/sympathy than scootielove?
ReplyDeleteWhat is this "scootabuse" you speak of? I have never seen any of it, you got me curious.

All I've seen is one scootabuse image, but it was something that would probably get put on Equestria After Dark (if it weren't a fanfic-only blog).

Here are some non-NSFW scootabuse pictures I found on deviantart.
Someone nutted out a picture real fast after watching the latest episode...
I for one, appreciate Scootabuse. Those pics are extremely emotional and only invoke more sympathy for Scoot.

ReplyDeleteI feel the same way with Luna. As much as I'd like Happy Luna, Sad Luna is Best Luna.
This new trend of Scootalove is heartwarming (believe me, I did cry at this comic), but it seems so strange for Scoot to carry her worship of RD this far. Surely she has a family in Ponyville that loves her?
ReplyDeleteFunny enough, scootabuse series has brought more appreciation to Scootaloo then any other fic. I hope the author will keep them coming.

ReplyDeleteI thougth you were ponychan resident? I once made a thread there about scootabuse and got many replies how ppl there like it or "find it funny".
I heard ppl say that ponychan is mostly like /b/ of 4chan. Now I'm not even sure. Is there somethin worse than /b/?
followup to my post @ 5:57 AM -
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just overanalyzing, but both Scootabuse and Scootalove are equally uncanon so far, seeing how Scoot isn't really related to RD.
But damnit, I'd take Scootalove anyday over Scootabuse. Shit's just wrong.
No matter how cute this is...
ReplyDeleteIt will never be as funny as scootabuse.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete"seeing how Scoot isn't really related to RD."
Enough leeway for Dashaloo...bueno
HHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!1
ReplyDeletethere needs to be a scootaloo hanging out with dash episode
ReplyDeleteI shed man tears. dammit.
ReplyDeleteSome manly tears were shed.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOnce you reach bottom you start digging.
And thus. My heart exploded.
ReplyDeleteAnd then RD wonders where that "purring" sound is coming from. Thanks for this, drawfriend.
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDelete*ahem*
yay.
Adorable doesn't even BEGIN to describe this! Who all thinks that Lauren Faust should see this comic?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've heard nothing about this Scootabuse until now.

ReplyDeleteAll those ''Scootabuse-r'' need to go in a dark corner of the Internet and stay there... and maybe die of Lupus for good measure.
ReplyDeleteSuffering of foals and childs...
How can one be ok or even dare to like that...
I guess I will never understand that point.
But whatever...
As long as there's people like this Comic Author to give an Equal or Superior answer, then it's not so bad in the end.
so cute. Can Scootaloo is an orphan and lives in an orphanage?
ReplyDeleteMy DAWWWWWW meter is going of the charts!
