This one is pretty interesting. I've always been curious what a cartoon would sound like with just the background music. It's not something most of us notice, but they all have it, and it adds a ton to the actual scenes.
This is A Dog and a Pony Show's entire background music track, (Including the intro/ending song) without any vocals, or primary sound effects (There are still a few that are actually built into the background, like laughing ponies and such).
So what can you do with something like this?
1.) Get some headphones and an mp3 player
2.) Plan a 9 minute walk around somewhere populated.
3.) Be amazed at the things that seem to randomly correlate with it.
Maybe....
Anyway here is the download link!
I accidently had the short version up! My bad, long one is now below!

Background noise.
ReplyDeleteWOO.
All I hear is the opening theme with the main vocals basically cut out. Wrong link?
ReplyDelete@Neon Noble
ReplyDeleteYeah that's all I hear too...
SETHISTO, YOU DONE GOOFED
ReplyDeleteYeah, I got the same...
ReplyDeleteIt's the opening wit.. exactly what Neon Noble said.
ReplyDeleteHey, I LOVE the background music! William Anderson deserves as much recognition as Daniel Ingram here. My goal is to champion both to get an equal share of both composers' music on a future soundtrack album.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sethisto. You rock. :3
(I'm totally a film/TV score nerd)
@Senn555
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%.
William Anderson has done some really fantastic work for the show.
Oh, man, just like /co/'s distribution of "Adventure Time" music. Thanks, brah!
ReplyDelete@Senn555
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Will Anderson really *has* composed a good underscore for FiM. Episodes such as Bridle Gossip, Show Stoppers, and Over a Barrel really benefit from the BGM. That Everfree Forest motif "oooOOOhhh" will never leave my head.
Going by his resume, though, I'm not surprised - he has scored a boatload of productions.
I remember this one time something like this happened on an episode of Ed, Edd, & Eddy. It was on TV too.
ReplyDeleteNo voices, just sound effects.
It was strange.
Seth, I think ya linked the wrong file. That's just the main theme with mane cast vocals muted.
ReplyDeleteI think today has just been a bad day for Sethisto. I'm sorry, you deserve better.
ReplyDeletePretty much. This is at least just the short version. I'll get the long one up when I get home.
ReplyDelete@Sethisto
ReplyDelete*bites his tongue*
From the half I just listened to, I really wish people would do this more often.
ReplyDeleteThat, or I wish that companies would release OSTs of these kinds of things. The music is damn good.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI intend to write to both Hasbro and Rhino Entertainment (the company that handles CD/DVD production of Hasbro properties) via snail mail to urge them to release a soundtrack album - with an equal share of songs and background score. Their addresses have been posted here before, but I can grab them again if anyone would like to help me out in reaching them. It's the best that I can do as a fan, it seems.
How does this come about, does the company release them? Or do some bronies just have magic powers with audio?
ReplyDelete@Kujiiro
ReplyDeleteBugged itunes release
Yeah, while editing audio track from ep01-02, I noticed many inteersting things as well. No bug deal, but I neevr heard them before while watching.
ReplyDeleteOh my... i think i love this...
ReplyDelete@Senn555
ReplyDeleteToss 'em up, Senn! I'd like to ensure I have their correct addresses before I send any letters off.
I'm really liking the idea of a full OST including *both* the vocal songs *and* the underscore. It's a longshot, but why not take that shot?
Wow, hearing just the BGM is so lovely. The scores sound so well composed and with major effort put it. :3 I really hope an OST releases soon, for songs and BGM, if not some Brony should get on that. XD
ReplyDeleteHeh, this isn't really new to me, because I know how this was done. Basically, the episode has surround sound channels, and only the front left and right channels were left unmuted.
ReplyDeleteIt's what I did for my 'TF2 crew sings MLP theme' video; I muted the center channel so I could get rid of the vocals and replace them with sentence-mixed voice clips from the game.
I listend to this while walking home
ReplyDeleteMy god it fitted in so much
I now know what its like to have backround music in life!
It always amazes me that the US is always last place when it comes to putting or collecting a show on dvd or releasing a show's soundtrack on CD.
ReplyDeleteI've got plenty of cds for anime and a few movies but the closest I have to a ost for a us show is my copy of JLU season 2 which came with the music only track for the last episode.
Rhino's still doing media for Hasbro? I thought Shout Factory! was handling things, or is that just the TF and GIJoe stuff.
you seem to have missed that bugged version of applebuck season, it's been around since november. i think you can still find it in the sharing is magic list
ReplyDeleteWould anypony happen to have the short version link?

ReplyDeleteWhen I wrote an e-mail to Hasbro a couple of months back, they told me to write to Rhino Home Video instead, at the address I mentioned above. Now I just need to stop being lazy and actually write and send these letters...
Oh, gonna love Sapphire Shores tune! Hope our Eurobeat pony will make a remix of that melody one day. Other BG music is nice to, but only nice. aDaaPS is not that episode where BG music is great.
ReplyDeleteNot to bad! I adore the scores in this show, and it's nice to have at least one episode's score :3
ReplyDeleteAlthough I did love the music from Dragonshy.
Wow, this was pretty sweet. I'd love to get the background music from other episodes as well. :> WINK WINK, NUDGE NUDGE
ReplyDeleteThis is really incredible. I heard what sounds like snippets of the Jaws theme, and something from Donkey Kong. It's really amazing how subtle the music is; how much it adds to the atmosphere.
