...I'm wondering whether Lauren has a target price in mind for each one, and whether it might make sense to issue a series of say 20-50 little sketches instead of this super limited run of 4-5.
Cuz my whole line of thought is that, sure, I love MLP as much as the next brony, but these prices are just ridiculous. Yes, they are signed collectors items, and yes, the money is going to charity - but over $2000 for a sketch? For something that will arguably have a questionable resale value unless the re-seller is willing to go thru the trouble of 100% proving authenticity? Because, let's be honest here, lots of people draw ponies, and do it pretty well too.
Just to be clear, I'd love to donate some money to charity in exchange for one of these neat little art pieces - but at these prices, its completely out of the question.
If I get one, I am never going to resale it! I wouldn't be much of a fan if I just went and resold it. Also about how she is standing, can you stand on one leg? so stfu! lol
The reason they are going for so much, and the reason they are one of a kind, is that these are the drawings (aside from Derpy Hooves) that Lauren Faust used as character designs to pitch the show to Hasbro. These designs are part of the reason the show even exists.
Just wait until the other auctions end. If the price on AJ isn't high already it may shoot up as the high bidding losers of the previous auctions regroup and try again.

Confound these ponies, they make me wish I had money.
Aww, this one is my favorite of the sketches up for auction.
ReplyDeleteLove you, Applejack~
may you end up in the right hands!
ReplyDeleteGravity would dictate that balance on same side legs would cause tip over in opposite direction.

ReplyDeleteUnless leaning so legs in contact with the ground are under center of gravity.
(Lack of possessives is fun.)

I fear we will get a definitive fan ranking from this, and dear AJ will be lowest bid.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want to RE-SELL these? Is putting crap on EBAY all you ponies think of?
ReplyDeleteYou should FRAME this and put it in your office or bedroom. Or a safe deposit box.

@Anonymous just be glad its not Rob Granito, heh.
ReplyDeleteGood point. These drawings are the REASON the show got greenlit. That alone makes them VERY valuable.
ReplyDeletethis one is the best imo...

ReplyDeleteLook how much support this show has in the form of money!
ReplyDeleteNow give us our DVD boxsets, Hasbro.
And our Pinkie Pie Party Supplies
I wonder which pony will sell for the most.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Derpy will sell for the most,or maybe winged Pinkie
ReplyDeleteWell Winged Pinkie Pie just overtook Derpy by a few hundred, so...
ReplyDelete@Alexis
ReplyDeleteSomeone outbid me? That needs to be fixed.
It does feel nice to have the highest bid for such a long time! (AJ that is) I know it won't last so I got to enjoy it wile it lasts
ReplyDeleteWinged Pinkie Pie overtaking Derpy in bidding?
ReplyDeleteBlasphemy!
