Who's the best pony? That's Right! Twilight Sparkle is!
And the final numbers!
Twilight Sparkle: $6,200
Pinkie Pie: $4,050
Applejack: $3,050
Derpy Hooves: $2,151
Total: $15,451
Absolutely crazy. Grats to all the winners!
But I'm surprised Derpy was last! How could we betray what was essentially the brony mascot for the entire first few weeks!?
Thanks to Chris for the graph (I doubt he wants me to give his full name!)

Yeah go twilight! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWell, it was probably people with more money hearing about the auctions later, and Derpy's auction was over first.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that since Derpy was the first to end, she ended the cheapest (which also explains why Twilight ended the highest). That, and she's also not an OFFICIAL character, so the collectors care less.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the money though, I would have been willing to go for $3K with Derpy :(. Sadly I only recently got a job, so I haven't had time to save...
It's not all that surprising Derpy was last. The other pieces were actually used in pitching the show, and had their part in the creation of the show we all love.
ReplyDeleteEstimate for a theoretical RD exclusive sketch: $7440.
ReplyDelete@Bejoty
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there
It's funny how suddenly price of Twilight Sparkle jumped after the end of Applejack auction.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how high Fluttershy would get...
twilightlikeaboss.jpg
ReplyDeletefluttershy doesn't like to fly that high off the ground, so hers couldn't get that high up there =P
ReplyDeletei'm a little confused about why Derpy was last.. but well the other sketches were the original ones, Derpy one is newer.
ReplyDeleteDerpy was first out of the gate, but Twilight took it in the home stretch!
ReplyDelete*punches self in stomach
Twilight paced herself.
ReplyDeleteI think winning bid amount isn't reflective of popularity. Just do a poll asking us if we were to bid on one of the four, which one would we'd bid on.
ReplyDeleteA-yup!
ReplyDeleteWhat OP doesn't want you to know is that HE/SHE artificially raised the price of the Twilight drawing. Case closed!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Twilight's supporters were just biding their time! Look how the price jumps after other auctions finish.
ReplyDeleteIn any case TS rules supreme in net worth!
Though Applejack is my favorite, I am very surprized that Derpy came in last place! What madness is this?
ReplyDeleteSad-Derpy.jpg
Over fifteen thousand dollars for pony sketches...
ReplyDeleteiamokwiththis.jpg
Plus the 1,300.00 Dollar LadyDraconic gave, after Lauren Faust spoke to her. I would count that in.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that at the end the auctions...
ReplyDelete*glasses*
Spiked.
YEEEAAAAHH!!
For the hell of it, I took all the highest bids of each bidder and added them together for each auction. I just wanted to see how much money was being thrown at each Pony.
ReplyDeleteTwilight: $35,662.99 (16 bidders)
Derpy: $16,581 (11 bidders)
Applejack: $16,140 (12 bidders)
Pinkie: $11,805 (7 bidders)
So if it makes anybody feel better, Derpy was second in the amount of money being thrown at her.
Keep in mind this is all very unscientific as there were many same bidders bidding on each of the auctions...meaning if they won one they might had not bid on the others. Also who knows how many other bidders would had bid but didn't as by the time they got on eBay the amount already exceeded their max.
Oh and if you add up all the highest bids and all auctions, you get $80,188.99
ReplyDeleteBut again, there were many same bidders....so somewhere between $35,662.99 to $80,188.99 was being thrown around at these four ponies.
Twilight Wins.

FRIENDSHIP!
@Anon
ReplyDeletePerhaps the reason the price spiked is that they knew then that they couldn't get the other prints, so they decided to go all-out for Twilight?
Also, I know I will not be able to survive till December. I'm already experiencing pony withdrawal from two hours of no updates here. By the time Season II rolls around, I'll probably be dead from friendship withdrawal.
I'm not surprised Twilight came out on top. She DID have the best Cutie Mark Chronicles scene after all.
ReplyDeleteDerpy was the first auction to end, and she was sketched in 2011 for this auction, and was not original pre-production concept art
ReplyDeleteWell, here's hoping for another disaster of tragic proportions, for another chance at a sketch...
ReplyDeleteMore casual MLP fans may not know who Derpy is (although they should because she's the best pony.) Combine that with her being the first to sell and the only sketch not used for the production pitch, and she was probably doomed to be in last place.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that whatever pony ended up being the last to sell would have been most expensive, no matter who she was. Collectors who missed out on the other three probably got into a bid war over Twilight, knowing she was the last chance.
The only reason Twilight raised the most cash is because you can clearly see her flank.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners. Excuse me while I go pout on not getting pinkie or Twilight :(
ReplyDeleteI couldn't afford any of them about.... 5 seconds after the auctions started. Stupid college tuition
ReplyDeleteYa know...
ReplyDelete*puts on sunglasses*
They could have raised even more money if they included free 'shipping'.
“YEEEAAAHHH!”
this proves twilight is best pony
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Twilight Day may have had a slight influence on this auction.
ReplyDeleteSliiiight influence.
Unless Derpy becomes cannon (which unfortunately may not happen due to the PC police that will shoot her down at hasbro), her drawing will not be worth as much as the original characters to investment minded collectors. That is the reason for the lack of pecuniary fortitude toward Derpy's auction.
ReplyDeleteIn other words: dat shit wont be worth as much...
ReplyDeleteThe total...
ReplyDeleteIT'S OVER 9000!!!
