So... assume Daniel Ingram (the composer for all these overly addicting songs that so many of us have had on repeat for months now) is going to do an interview for us on Equestria Daily. Knowing that he can't start giving out spoilers for future episodes, what kind of questions would you like to see him answer?
Feel free to toss them down in the comments!

I'd love to know his production process- how does he come up with an idea for a tune? How long does he typically have to produce it for an episode?
VastaKustutaHow did you get into music? and do you think you can top Winter Wrap Up... ever?
VastaKustutaMost of the songs in the show so far fit with the personality of the character that's singing them (IE: Rarity singing about dresses and Pinkie Pie singing about cupcakes). For a song like Winter Wrap-Up, where did the idea come from to have everypony sing, and was it challenging writing parts for AJ and Dash, seeing as their characters aren't really the singing type.
VastaKustutaI'd be interested in what his favorite song on the show is so far.
VastaKustutaI'm also really interested in the creative process behind Art of the Dress. Was the Sondheim tribute his idea, or was that something the producers asked him to do?
Can you make a song that pushes "Winter Wrap-Up" out of my head? It's been stuck in there for a while.
VastaKustutaNo, seriously, you are awesome. Keep up the good work!
Are there any plans to give Zecora's voice actress a song at some point?
VastaKustutawho is your favorite pony and why?
VastaKustutaHow does the music for FiM differ from your other works, if at all?
VastaKustutaIs your involvement with the rest of the studio separate or is there any crossover with other departments? Any particular individuals you have a good rapport with?
If a soundtrack is never released, will any of the tracks be uploaded or otherwise made available online? What can we do to help facilitate a soundtrack?
Who is your favorite pony? Favorite pony's singing voice?
I second Cereal's suggestion.
VastaKustutaIs composing music for MLP:FiM different from any of the work you've done previously? From where do you draw the inspiration to fit the songs so brilliantly with the overall theme of the show?
VastaKustutaHow does he make songs that WON'T LEAVE MY BRAIN?
VastaKustutaHas he heard any of Eurobeat Brony's stuff? If he has, what's his opinion on it?
VastaKustuta>>See Fly Me To The Moon
VastaKustuta>>Thinks Of Evangelion
>>Now Thinks Of Evangelion With Ponies
OH GOD, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
Will there ever be extended versions of the current songs? 5:30 long Evil Enchantress with a didgeridoo solo and soulful guest performance by Flutterguy maybe?
VastaKustutaWhat kinda music does he himself enjoy?
VastaKustutaIf it's not too much of a spoiler are any of the other Mane characters going to get their own songs Like Dash or AJ or Scratch?
What is goin' on in this post--
VastaKustutaOH LORD!
Are there plans to use some background characters in your music, to be more specific, songs including Derpy singing?
VastaKustutaPLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING FRIENDSHIP AND MAGIC
VastaKustutaMAKE AN EXTENDED VERSION OF THE TALENT SHOW SONG THAT'S CORRECTLY DONE WITH SWEETIE BELL AS THE LEAD SINGER AND A BITCHIN HUGE GUITAR SOLO
I'm a little curious on how he feels on the eurobeat remixes.
VastaKustutaWhat's that line in Art of the Dress?
VastaKustuta"Croup to haunch?"
Was the CMC talent show song a nod to "Fame"? (I wanna live foreeevveeer)
Sorry if I slowpoke.
-s
Can you write character theme songs for each of the characters? Like how anime always do which releases as a character CD.
VastaKustutaCan future songs have Rainbow Dash singing more? I'm addicted to her voice.
This, this, and this.
VastaKustutaAre you pretty much exclusively a soundtrack composer?
VastaKustutaAre the instruments 100% electronic, or is there some actual live recording, too?
Where does the composing process fit in with the process of making a whole episode? Like, how long do you have to finish the song, at what point are you expected to start composing, how much time do you have for revisions, etc.
Who is your favoite band/singer? Do your music is at all influenced by what you hear other people play, or is it all original. Lastly how much freedom do you have in creating songs? Are you given strict guidelines, or are you pretty much free to create what ever you want?
VastaKustutaIs making pony music and being part of this show the best thing ever?
VastaKustutaDo your music is at all influenced. Sorry correction Is your music at all influenced by what you hear other people play, or is it all original.
VastaKustutaWhat kind of ear cocain do you put in your music?
VastaKustutaNot really but what gave you the push to become so good?
@Daffodil
VastaKustutaHate to sound stereotypical, but AJ singing a country ballad doesn't seem that out-of-place for me.
And Dash singing? She's Rainbow fucking Dash, she can do whatever she feels like doing!
how did you feel about seeing winter wrap up leaked?
VastaKustutaThen what was your reaction to seeing such positive reactions to it?
Why do I hear "Take arms take arms my fellow ponies! Over throw celestia!" when I play the cupcakes song backwards at half speed?
VastaKustutaPertaining to his favorite song, Flash at one point mentioned his was yet to come - if Daniel's is yet to come too, perhaps he could list a single line or a clue to which song is his favorite so we would know which one he's referring to when it's played
VastaKustutaAre you a wizard?
VastaKustuta"Dear Viewer:
VastaKustutaThank you for contacting The Hub.
We appreciate your enthusiasm regarding My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
and for taking the time to write us. Positive feedback such as yours is
very important to us. We want you to know that we will pass your comments
on to our program management and executive producers. Please know that
each and every comment is read and taken into consideration for future
programming.
Thank you again for expressing interest in our programming.

Going forward, I think we should also ask the production staff if they're each a 'brony' (disregarding gender connotations). It means a lot more to give a *bro-hoof* if the context is known to both parties :)
VastaKustutaI would ask what his thoughts are about so many people out side the target audience enjoying his song and the show it's self so much
VastaKustutaI'd ask when he'd give Raibow Dash her incredible rock ballad, and when he would give Fluttershy a full song.
VastaKustutaalso I'd ask what type of pony he'd be if he was a pony
VastaKustutaWhat we can do, as fans, to show our support for a soundtrack CD release to the people in the position to decide whether there'll be one.
VastaKustutaFor now, I'll go with: "Who is your favorite character?", "Do you prefer writing songs for any specific character?", and last, "Which song took the least time for you to write?"
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaHaha, seconded
I imagine he's restrained by the direction of each episode on what each song must pertain to. If he had full artistic freedom in choosing the setting/characters for a MLP song, which characters would he choose and what would he have it be about?
@crazyredemu Both of the things that crazyredmu said!
VastaKustutaDo you also do the instrumental background music for episodes? (I loved the stuff in Swarm of the Century)
VastaKustutaAlso: Is there any chance of the background music being released? (Even if it's decades from now when you're on your deathbed and therefore don't care about being sued.)
Did you ever imagine how beloved these songs would become with us older "kids?" ;)
VastaKustutaAnd as for AJ and Dash singing--hell yes! They're my two favorites, though I adore all six main characters, and I *love* that they've all gotten a chance to sing. Me wants more musical singin' and dancin' ponies! :3
Not sure what I'd ask, but now I want a Frank Sinatra Pony.
VastaKustuta1) Is it true that "Art of the Dress/Stitching It Together" is a mash-up of "Putting It Together" from Sunday in the Park With George and "My Strongest Suit" from Aida? The song shows off a bit of both!
VastaKustuta2) What do you find to be your strongest influences when composing for the show? Can we expect to see any more homages in the near future?
Keep up the great work, Mr. Ingram!
1) What is it like working with William Anderson?
VastaKustuta2) It's already been mentioned above, but can we do anything to urge Hasbro or Rhino Records to release a soundtrack album on CD? A mix of your songs as well as Mr. Anderson's background score would be wonderful to have. I also have contacts to several soundtrack-based record labels if the demand for an album is great.
Ask him how his ethnic love for music has translated into Equestria and what environment has he helped cultivate.
VastaKustutaThen, ask him about his background and lifestory about how he got to Equestria and what his hopes and aspirations are
Will we have more of his work to look forward to in the second season?
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
VastaKustutaTHIS!!! I WANNA KNOW ABOUT THIS!!
CAN WE GET GAY MARRIED.
VastaKustutaUh. I mean... have we already seen his favorite song that he did for the show so far, or is it in an upcoming episode?
Autor on selle kommentaari eemaldanud.
VastaKustutaWho is your favourite singer?
VastaKustutaWhat's the process? Do you typically get told "we need a 73 second song sung by Pinkie Pie about Candy here" or are you more involved in the writing process?
VastaKustutadudes...he's on the #mylittlepony under the sudoname of pinkie_pie or Ipana
VastaKustuta1) What was it like to re-invent the traditional My Little Pony "jingle" for the title theme? For those of us who grew up with the MLP theme as part of our childhoods it's quite the impressive moment when Dash bursts the cloud in the title sequence and the whole music changes.
VastaKustuta2) What are your thoughts on the lyrical/visual interpretations of your music in the final product? Are you involved in the visualizations to any extent?
and finally:
3) which pony has been the most fun to write for?
Is this that BandPuff person on youtube? if so, i would like to know how he found about MLP FiM? like was he already a fan of mlp?
VastaKustuta@Tigerflame
VastaKustutaBandpuffs uploads Eurobeat Brony's remixes. This is Daniel Ingram, the composer of the songs (but not the background music) of the actual MLP: FiM show.
i just say thx for the pony's, it be swell if stations could make more cartoons even rl shows with at least some values but still at least are entertaining without being say hanna montana or the jersey shore. you can have good programming without dumbing it down, give viewers time and they'll learn square goes into square hole
VastaKustutaI'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A WAY TO CONTACT HIM.
VastaKustutaHave you considered doing a full-length musical, be it for Broadway or the big screen?
What is your favorite musical?
THE FIRST QUESTION IS THE MOST IMPORTAAAANT.
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaIt's "Croup, dock, haunch".
The dock is the area around the base of the tail.
New Question:
VastaKustutaHow long is the process of actually getting a song into the show? Are the lyrics written by the writers, or people who specifically write the songs (or a little of both). Who does the instrumentals?
Are you going to sell your music, like winter wrap up, art of the dress at some time?
VastaKustutaAlso, a CD would be Awesome
Since I don't see it linked anywhere, I thought I'd throw it out there that Daniel Ingram recently created a Vimeo page (looks legit at least).
VastaKustutahttp://vimeo.com/user6209357
Winter Wrap Up is inexplicably missing from the list, but there are video cuts of most songs from the series. Nothing too crazy yet, but keep an eye on that aaaaaand:

I figure I should speak up now, since Sethisto confirmed this interview in the 700K news post.
VastaKustutaYes, in one of his e-mail replies to me, Daniel Ingram agreed to do an interview for Equestria Daily - out of the blue. I didn't even *ask* him; he just...offered.
I am flippin' excited about this! =D
I've been gleaning & polishing questions from these comments off-and-on for the past several hours. Not every question will be asked - I'll mostly stick to past/present topics, since Mr. Ingram can not reveal much info about future episodes. (He checked with the producers, to be safe.)
I *am* taking each one into consideration, though. I'm hoping he'll agree to 16~20 questions, some of those compound in nature. A few will be about his background; a few, the production process; a few, specific FiM songs... And a couple of fun ones for flavor.
It's good to see so many rich questions! What I ask now is that, if you think someone else's question is valuable, say so in a reply (or point it out somehow). I've already got a first draft ready, but I'll be refining the question set tomorrow. Mr. Ingram has been *very* professional and courteous, and I want to repay him in kind.
Thanks to all, again. Keep the comments flowing!
-Have you ever had one of your own songs get caught in your head? If so, which one and why?
VastaKustuta-What is your favorite musical instrument to use and why? Is there an instrument you wish you could use more in your music but people don't understand its appeal to you?
-If you were a pony, what color would you be and what would your cutie-mark be?
I gotta say this fanbase is pretty spoiled.
VastaKustutaSo many of the people who work on the show talk with us and answer our questions. It's pretty cuhrazy.
Not that I'm complaining that is. It's amazingly nice of them to do stuff like this. I just hope it doesn't get to peoples heads.
What musicals and plays have inspired him and are his favourites?
VastaKustutaTHIS IS ALL I WANT TO KNOW
I'd love to know how much fun they had getting whoever did Flutterguy's voice to sing the "evil enchantress" song. I'd love to see the look on the temp VA's face when told what it's for. Seriously though, I don't have any useful questions questions other than a request that we hear a well-sung version of the glamrock cutie crusaders song (it was awesome in it's awfulness, if you understand what I mean, but I'd love to hear it "done right")
VastaKustutaWhat is the best way for fans to contact you, publicly and otherwise? (e.g. community-based music sites; Twitter account..)
VastaKustutaWhat advice would you give students/amateurs trying to get into this particular field of work?
What made you so inclined to join up with the MLP franchise? Where lies the magic that keeps you coming back for more?
How did you come to work on this show, and how is your working relationship with Lauren Faust and co? Are there any particular anecdotes you feel comfortable about sharing?
VastaKustutaM-might I just, um... thank him?
VastaKustutaMake a metal song for ponies. Why? Because it'd be hilariously unfitting.
VastaKustutaOr maybe something MJ-like? (Moonwalking Ponies! YES!)
@Putuk
VastaKustutaGreat, now I have a mental image of Twilight with a white-painted horseshoe on a foreleg and spinning...
I agree with whoever said Rainbow Dash should get a rock ballad. Then again, I have rather biased musical tastes..
VastaKustuta1 - Are there any episodes without songs you wish you could have written a song for? If so, what would they have been like?
VastaKustuta2 - Is there a full version, either on paper or in your head, of Sweetie Belle's original Cutie Mark Crusader theme song? What little we heard was tantalizingly lovely.
Are the songs created synthetically all by your self or are they played by real instrumentalists. Basically once composed, how are the songs actually made?
VastaKustutatabs for art of a dress
VastaKustutaand umm that hes awsome
What are your thoughts on the "brony" movement?
VastaKustutaHow many of the songs, if any at all, did you actually write by just singing them to yourself? I know, at least in my own experiences, that the melodies for most of Pinkie Pie's songs have the sound of something thought up on the spot. Did you do that and just flesh them out, or did you start by going full production on them?
VastaKustutaHave you written any songs for the series that weren't used? Were there any episodes that originally included songs that got cut for whatever reason?
VastaKustutaAre the town ponies in Winter Wrap-Up sung by the regular voice actresses or session singers?
and as mentioned above, I want to hear more about the creative process - how much information he gets when they ask for a song. Does the script just say "90-second song goes here" or does he get a storyboarded sequence?
Status report:
VastaKustutaMr. Ingram and I have finalized the logistics. I've compiled what I believe to be the best questions from this list (and dang, there are definitely a *ton* of good ones) and prepared them for Mr. Ingram to answer. It's more of a Q&A at this point, not a "sit-down" interview, but I see no real drawback to that. I'm optimistic everything will proceed smoothly.
That's the current situation. Thanks to all for suggesting such rich questions!
(Sethisto might update this post later, if it tickles his fancy...)
Will Ashleigh Ball (using her Rainbow Dash voice) ever get a solo song like Rarity did?
VastaKustuta
