    9. Wow, that was really sad. Why must people do these things to Derpy?

    10. despite the sadness, this is really well written. I loved the fact that they had Bright Eyes go through survivors guilt with her condition, a stroke of genius I have not seen yet in another story. This is both sad and heartwarming, and I can only say that it made me tear up.

    11. I think it's interesting that Derpy is, deep down, a silly character (I mean, she had screwed up eyes in ONE SCENE in the background), but people can make such good dramatic stuff out of her. I think it's the fact that, when portrayed like this, she exists on a basic childlike level that tugs at the heartstrings.

    12. If we get too many more like this, it's going to become hard to take them seriously. I don't want to see this turn into a competition to see how much abuse an author can lump onto one mentally challenged pegasus.

We've been very fortunate that Memorial and Bubbles were so well-written. Something like this could easily be handled extremely poorly, and end up in very bad taste.

    13. What is it with the stories here?

In the few short weeks that I have browsed this site I have come closer to crying more times than I can remember. There are only three things in the last ten years that make me truly shed a tear(not fake tears, those are easy): the last call by Harry Stamper from Armageddon, Reba McEntire's Fancy, and Gorecki's Symphony No.3.

But by god the stories on this site are coming damn close to changing that, why are they so effective? Seriously these are just yanking on the heartstrings.

    14. I'm a 45 year old man, bawling his eyes out right now, for the first time in years. Wonderful story, even if it's just sad as heck. Outstanding job, Buxton. Just outstanding.

    19. Unbelieveably good.
I had to stop several times just to keep the tears in. Cant take the chance of reading it again. Maybe some other time.

    24. This story needs more attention, it sad yet warming to me at the same time. To see how she can keep her head high and be so dedicated, its deeply touching.

      I shed a tear.

    25. I found this to be very bittersweet. Even after all of the hardships Der... i mean Bright Eyes has gone though. She still loves her parents and has a smile on her face.

    28. I'm curious about the fanart at the top of this page. Is she reading fanmail or something?

    29. I don't know about this story. The first two thirds have a little two much unnecessary schmaltz for my tastes, and the sad content near the end seemed a little forced to me, if only because it was introduced so suddenly. Even so, for what the story presents, it does so very well. There were nearly no spelling or grammar errors, which is more than can be said for a lot of fanfiction, and the character was given an interesting personality and backstory. Most importantly, though, it retains a very innocent atmosphere, which is appropriate for both the character and for My Little Pony in general. All in all, it was okay.
By the way, no, I didn't cry.

    30. manly... *sniff*
      these tears are manly...

    31. Not the kind of story I usually enjoy reading. I like the sad story's I read to be more complex. But this one was very well written. I admit, I teared up a bit near the end. Good job.
