My guess is that she had pegasus blodd in her ancestors. How look a child of a pegasus and an unicorn? If it look like a unicorn he still have half of his gene being pegasus. It could easilly appear at the next generation.
@Anonymous But why does fluttershy not have a horn? Is the pegasus gene always dominant? Is fluttershy half unicorn? Why can't she do magic? I'm confus
Good story, if not as sad as I was expecting. I don't know why, but it didn't make me feel as bad as I should, especially coming from someone with a very tumultuous relationship with his parents. Either way, it was a solid, well written story.
Hehe, saw this on /co/ yesterday, this is the anon that wanted to see a new ending.
And A new ending I got. Very good story; it's touching and personal, without making you want to cry; after all, fluttershy is okay now! You did great with that ending I think.
I've always thought that the Earth pony genes were more dominant than the Pegasus pony genes, which were more dominant than the Unicorn pony genes. Hence the relatively large numbers of Earth and Pegasus ponies compared to Unicorns. Also: Story, y u make me sad?
A very touching story whose only faults are the austerity of its background descriptions and the possible logic gap of a pegasus having a unicorn parent. Could her mother be a pegasus? Anyway, one solid thumb!
I thought it was kind of obvious, or at least implied, then, that her mother was a Pegasus... maybe Ponies work like pokemon; species depends on mother?
My theory has always been that, based on their relative scarcity, the unicorn gene is probably recessive. So Fluttershy's mom would have had to have been a Pegasus.
This story is so amazing. I could feel my heart aching while reading this. Its just... amazing, like I could feel the trauma she's going though. Its heartwrenching. This is an extremely high quality story, I could easily imagine myself watching all the events happening in the background. Thank you for writing such a tale.

Excellent story! I thought it was going to be a spinoff of bittersweet, but whatever. One question though, how does a unicorn have a pegasus child?
ReplyDeletewith a lovely pegasus lady of course

ReplyDeletemanly tears have been shed. good story, I hope they do a episode of background for every pony sometime
ReplyDeleteI don't think your writing did your idea or this subject justice.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't mean stop writing by any means, it's just that I think that if you got more practice, you'd be able to present this story much better.
The flow was often jarring, the descriptions were nonexistent, and it read more like a prologue than a narrative.
